For all who have a non workin CommManager after softreset... i found the solution...

there are some wrong registry entries...

Hi Tom & members of XDA-Developers forum. I would like to thank you Tom for great work. Today i flash my ROM to B&B 4.0 but I've got few problems.
- I can't find TCPMP and many programs included in 3.7 ver
- what can I do to FORCE TouchFLO to work with out of GPS button( left corner) like in YouTube movie:

This will allow you to choose touchflo as your softkey button left or right, this is what I used making the video on Toms Blog, simple launch softkey remap
choose left or right for touchflo, rename it to whatever you want, i just put a space in there so it would look like I touched nothing to launch it. save
after you launch it, SWIPE FINGER. Nice and easy, good luck, and Please Everyone all or MOST of these answers are already in the thread. Please read from post 1 Thanks.

now i have flashed again with bb4, made 5-6 soft reset in a row, and now, the device is crashing when boots. Nothing is installed, just have synced my contacts, and calendar.:confused: :confused: :confused:

Pocket Cm is still in Beta form, Contact manager has reached its final version, no longer developing, Consideration was given but the final call was to use the more mature program. Hence Contact manage

du hast B&B4 aufgespielt? hast du danach tomtom installiert? (das überschreibt den button).
weise in den einstellungen touchflo einer taste zu. drücke diese taste. dadurch passiert nicht wirklich was sichtbares. nun "schiebe" mit dem finger das display nach rechts oder links. dann sollte der cube erscheinen. links rechts schieben dreht den cube, nach oben verschwindet er. wieder starten per tastendruck.

Not possible at this time, that we are aware of.
Let me correct that... I dont think that has been attempted.... I am sure this would use a considerable amount of memory, touchflo in the video is actuated by swiping the finger from bottom to top, this is not possible for our device...Today, but you must understand that Tom is treading on new ground, no one to my knowledge has attempted or successfully integrated the swipe from bottom up to open touchflo except on the touch device itself. Be patient young skywalker, you never know.

Wenn Du das "X" siehst, passt alles. Du musst genau in der Sekunde mit dem Finger über den Bildschirm fahren (Links<->rechts). Dann funzt´s auch.

klingt ja alles ok. das einzige, was du tun musst, nachdem du den button gedrückt hast und das x weg geht: mit dem finger von rechts nach links (oder umgekehrt) horizontal übers display fahren. ein bisschen druck braucht es auch. am besten nimmst du den daumen und tust so, als ob du in einem kleinen büchlein seiten umblättern wolltest...

also: knopf drücken, und dann mit dem daumen loslegen. so schwer ist das nicht :cool:

edit: ach ja, wegen deutscher version: lass dem armen tom mal eine verschnaufpause. der hat schon viel viel arbeit in die englische version gesteckt. wird dann schon irgendwann werden.

Hey das war wohl mein Fehler, ich habe nicht gleich sofort mit dem Finger bedient! Noch ein bisschen Übung und dann läuft es von selbst!

(Ich hoffe das bald ein Deutsches Rom raus kommt) Das warten wird ja mit der englischen schon etwas einfacher! So lerne ich auch wieder ein wenig englisch!

I think you've done a GRAND job testing! Well done. To elaborate on what the real problem is though that your friend can't articulate, it is impossible to take a contact photo (from the camera app). It appears to take a pic, but it doesn't save this anywhere (and there is no way to make it save anywhere).

So it's a problem with the camera app, not contacts.


Same problem here. The picture taken using 'Contacts Picture' doesn't seem to be saved anywhere. As storage, I've tried the storage card as well as the main memory, but no result.

It stop at the synchronization stage (i enter my pass and logon 2 question and at the synch phase it stop saying that there is no network

Hi all;
From what I found out in last few hours after installing B&B 4.0,some things which might be useful to all.
1)Once touch flo is activated,there wont be any visual indication,other than screen flickering or the disapperaing battery icon for 2 seconds.Its usually the switch named ok.But make sure its same in settings->buttons.And after pressing,immediately move the thumb on the screen.If there is a delay of action after more than seconds, it wont work.
2)In case this doesnt work,u might have to soft reset the phone a few times.I had to do it 3 times before it started to work.And it will be a bit slow at default speed.Use batterystatus,(it even shows temperature )and it has OMAP built in.Change the speed to 247Mhz(Use at ur risk as always), and it will be fast ans smooth.The plugin of battery status can be enabled in today screen,so when u dont use it,click on the speed and it will change to default,when u need to increase click on it again to increase the speed.So can save a lot of battery and will always have enough power when needed.

my only bug so far is on battery status the CPU speed used to show on far right

Only one tip for use touch flo: in battery status you can activate the taskbar with small icons with shortcuts to wifi, bt, etc... well, you can create a new want to touch flo so, with your finger you can activate it directly without push any button... Its silly but cool.. ;)

I tried B&B v3 few weeks ago, and this v4 is really faster. I have not tested all at this time, but there is a big big step.
Tom worked hard !

tomtom6 is working fine, in the phone app phone numbers are displayed correctly (not grouped with US style), camera seems to be Ok, WiFi suport too ...

The French support is only missing, but with such a ROM, i can accept that easily :)

Probably due to the radio ROM, i have no more EDGE, only GPRS. Not a matter for me as i'm using neither one nor other ... i use basic GSM.

I got a silly bug. When I restart my Orbit or connect it to Window Mobile Device-Center the Profile will change to "Vibrate". That's very annoying and I can't find a way to get rid of that problem. Please help. Does anyone else got the same issue?

Tom, you are a very bad man, putting the BB4.0 ROM that I had been looking forward to for so long onto the forum so that I would find it at 11pm last night, just before I went to bed. By around 3am I was the proud owner of a new phone, with all of my apps reinstalled and humming nicely. As a result I am VERY tired today so I will shortly make another donation to teach you the error of your ways!

Couple of things for inexperienced folks like me...

Firstly, I was upgrading from BB3.7. I ran USPL like most people suggest (not Tom, mind you) and wound up bricking my phone. I had a penguin appear on the phone, got an error message from USPL and then the device would not boot past the green WM6 screen. As it was 11.30pm by then, I had a few sweaty moments trying to work out what to do next - I read around a bit and finally solved the problem, to my intense relief, by putting the device into bootloader mode and running the BB4.0 executable. So my steer would be not to use USPL if going from 3.7 to 4.0 - just my opinion, take it or leave it.

I think the 'bug' around the auto sound profiles is still there - my device set itself to vibrate for a meeting this afternoon. I'm not sure it wants to set itself back to a normal profile once the meeting is over either.

The redial bug seems to be gone - good work

I think the 4.0 ROM is slightly slower than the 3.7, but still way better than the O2 WM5

Finally, serious congratulations are due to Tom and to the test team - they are all amateurs and do a bloody good job for little money (donate, ya mugs!) and sometimes little thanks. I've had official O2 ROMS over the years that are buggier and less professional and much less fun. The acid test is the fact that I hated my Orbit from the moment I got it with the O2 WM5 ROM on it last year. I couldn't wait for August to come around so that I could upgrade - trouble was, what to?

Then I found BB3.7 and 4.0 and I have a new phone that gives me all of the great things that the Orbit should have given me from the start, but didn't. I won't be upgrading any time soon...not until Tom doies, anyway!

a problem with phonepad (dark and traditional) when change the t9 language it use everycases english one...but display the language u choosed (italian in my case) its the same rom i used in 3.7 so must be a bug somewhere

update info : if change phonepad with another keyboard and thene return to phonepad it go to english t9 automatically

Tom, you are a very bad man, putting the BB4.0 ROM that I had been looking forward to for so long onto the forum so that I would find it at 11pm last night, just before I went to bed. By around 3am I was the proud owner of a new phone, with all of my apps reinstalled and humming nicely. As a result I am VERY tired today so I will shortly make another donation to teach you the error of your ways!

Couple of things for inexperienced folks like me...

Firstly, I was upgrading from BB3.7. I ran USPL like most people suggest (not Tom, mind you) and wound up bricking my phone. I had a penguin appear on the phone, got an error message from USPL and then the device would not boot past the green WM6 screen. As it was 11.30pm by then, I had a few sweaty moments trying to work out what to do next - I read around a bit and finally solved the problem, to my intense relief, by putting the device into bootloader mode and running the BB4.0 executable. So my steer would be not to use USPL if going from 3.7 to 4.0 - just my opinion, take it or leave it.

I think the 'bug' around the auto sound profiles is still there - my device set itself to vibrate for a meeting this afternoon. I'm not sure it wants to set itself back to a normal profile once the meeting is over either.

The redial bug seems to be gone - good work

I think the 4.0 ROM is slightly slower than the 3.7, but still way better than the O2 WM5

I have a screenprotector, and no problems at all...
Once activated TouchFlo, you'll see for some seconds an "X" on the right corner above. At that moment just move your thumb from left to right, and you'll see TouchFlo, after a few seconds the X will disappear, and TouchFlo is inactivated. So you need to activate it and immediatly go from left to right over your screen...

Also if I use the dialer from 3.7 does it come with the green letters or the newer colour scheme?

I prefer the layout of the buttons on the old dialer but prefer the colours of the numbers on the new one :D

if i do it with USPL it stops connection before upgrade and gives connection error message.

mine d-pad (that buttonthing with blue light and the circle around it) doesnt work anymore :(

You seem to be mixing 2 stages together.
Why is B&B 4 in the USPL folder?
USPL is like a ROM update, flash it on it's own.
After you flash USPL, then Flash B&B 4 package on it's own.

Flashing the O2 WM6 may have been a bad move, some report difficulties flashing USPL from this starting point without reflashing to WM5 first. However others have said they did not have problems.

so when you go in camera and gps photo , normally the gps orange led has to come on and the you take the picture.

so you can see the exact place where you're picture is taken in for excemple google earth.

:) Hi tom... I know that many people will write thier findings so am I.... I've noticed that the programs when closed does not close properly and runs in the background... This was not the way in v3.7.... and also i missed live messenger from this rom..also when the hibernate is used the memory released is less than that of v3.7... after running few programs the memory fell to 16 mb evn after all programs closed and hibernated.. in 3.7 it is about 19 ..... but this is great and nice work from you... keep it up.... all the others seems to work fine ... will post if i found anything not just to let u down but to make your rom as the best... i agree now also this is but with a few touches it will make even better...:) :)

You need vista drivers. Do search on the forum and you'll find them.

hi everyone.

since yesterday evening i have flashed to the new b&b v4.0 touch flo rom... everything was fine until today evening.

now i have a serious problem:

when i have used my artemis, then i press the standby button. when i will reaktivate the artemis out of standby the display stays black. when i press the red button to end a call i can hear the beep-sound. after a softreset the wheel, blue ball don't do anything. also the lighting is out of funktion. when i press again the power button to get the artemis into standby and want to reactivate it ...the same problem.

when i will change e.q. the brightness for display, nothing happens.

the last software i have installed today:

htc splashscreen and b&b 4 "a tom codon rom",
windows live (messenger)

does somebody have the same problem?

i have all the right drivers, ive done upgrades before, its because i installed windows live one care and its just caring for my laptop too much and i cant seem to get the firewall settings right.

anyway, after vista service pack 1 update on 14th august, im going to downgrade back to XP if there are no improvements.......

so ill be able to upgrade with ease.

although i cant see myself upgrading my orbit again too soon.;)

now i used a backup from tonight... i made the backup bevor i installed live messenger and the splashscreens... i will test again and will update!
and it feels like it running a bit faster without live messenger

No idea if it will work when you uninstall. I believe Windows Mobile SDK would be a good idea for you to test before install in 'real live' :D

You can test applications in a virtual environment and when you really want, you can install on your 'real' phone... maybe this problem never happend when you did it this way :cool:

I can't get TouchFLO working on the Contacts button. I have try-ed the registry trick and i have try ed it with RemapSoftkeys. The key-name changes to TouchFLO but for some strange reason it starts the agenda. How can i fix this?

Second question is, is there a way to change the screen after the first splash-screen? I'm making myself a airbrushed prone and now i have changed the first screen but also would like to have the second in the style i would like to have.

rom works perfect. The only bug i found is the Contact photo bug. It seems the camera doesn't store the picure when it's taken. The same problem appears in the panorama mode (you have to enable this setting in the registry). In panorama modus the pic is not stored on the sd card

I can't get TouchFLO working on the Contacts button. I have try-ed the registry trick and i have try ed it with RemapSoftkeys. The key-name changes to TouchFLO but for some strange reason it starts the agenda. How can i fix this?

Second question is, is there a way to change the screen after the first splash-screen? I'm making myself a airbrushed prone and now i have changed the first screen but also would like to have the second in the style i would like to have.

Problems I have with the camera are:

- Contact pictures are not saved (so you can't use them)
- GPS foto's still not working
- foto's and video's are stored in the seem folder
- when you make a movie the movie is not showing under album (but it is in the folder)
- when you try to play a recorded video you receive an error saying "the source filter for this file could not be loaded"

Does anyone know if there is a cab file for the camera or who to contact to get these problems fixed???

hi everyone.

since yesterday evening i have flashed to the new b&b v4.0 touch flo rom... everything was fine until today evening.

now i have a serious problem:

when i have used my artemis, then i press the standby button. when i will reaktivate the artemis out of standby the display stays black. when i press the red button to end a call i can hear the beep-sound. after a softreset the wheel, blue ball don't do anything. also the lighting is out of funktion. when i press again the power button to get the artemis into standby and want to reactivate it ...the same problem.

when i will change e.q. the brightness for display, nothing happens.

the last software i have installed today:

htc splashscreen and b&b 4 "a tom codon rom",
windows live (messenger)

everytime after i installed the cab-file for the wm6 bootscreen from htc where you see only the htc logos with the picture of a city in black/white colors.
when i installed the "a tom codon rom" bootscreen everything gone well.

There i have the value name and that is open. Did not changed that. Then i have Value Data and there i have put the line you have told me (the right one) and still i get my Calendar.

But IMHO TomTom has the most userfriendly interface. iGo has too small buttons to use by finger only....but the graphics are much better in iGO. But IMHO TomTom is generally easier to use...isn't it ? What i like most in iGO are the separte maps, you can save a lot of space on the memorycard...both apps have pro's and cons...

Just upgraded to the lovely v4.0 rom, Touch flow works great! But now I've stumbled upon a minor 'flaw': after choosing a custom background picture (just a normal photograph) for the today screen, the theme changed from the stylish black to the blueish one. Cant say I like that. Now I can't figure out how to return to the original theme, after removing the custom background. In the settings->today screen, there's only the Windows Default theme to select. Can anyone help me retrieve the original black layout?

Live messenger in B&B 3.7 has synchronization problem, The number of online friends is always 0. the build 1400 fixed this. search "WLM Build 1400" to get it.

see this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321638) for changing boot screens. the thread is about changing boot screens 2 and 3. my post (#11, 1st post on 2nd page) links to a tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317726) that can replace the first O2 splash screen with the HTC one (or any other).

using this tool wont delete any of your data. DONT forget USPL though!

I think this will help you. It's from the 3.7 post but i guess it will work in the 4.0 as well.

Regarding the color, open up PHM Regesit and navigate to "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Color"
Modify the BaseHue value to 160 (Remember its decimal) This'll set it back to black, but it'll change again if you swap themes

GREAT & PERFECT ROM TOM :)

Here are few observations:

1. All in all this ROM is indeed faster than 3.7 and 45MB free storage is really needed
2. Nice inclusion of latest BatteryStatus and especially with matching colors (CPUScalar = 143Mhz min and 273Mhz at boost)
3. When WiFi is activated & you click on the WiFi symbol above, there is still a bug ... you can not choose to turn it off directly, only via Comm Manager. (that is OK for me though)
4. As noticed by others ... Camera - Photo Contacts is not being saved. The rest is fine.
5. With new 6 button HTC Home I got rid of Spb Mobile Shell
6. TouchFlo is working nicely and w/o any problems
7. GPS (iGO, Pocket GPS Pro and others) and other Communications working nicely
8. Pocket CM is slow .... I guess it is still very raw piece of code. Though I like the feature of SMS history being shown as conversation ... neat.
9. Windows Live not included - not a problem for me.
10. Still gotta try out the JAVA Midlet ..... hope it is working this time.
11. Oh, Audio Manager with HTC Home and Cube is awesome + plus I can now switch of the screen = really cool.

I though have ONE Important question .... here is what I have noticed: If with any app (SKTools or Tweaks2K2 or manually) I change the SCROLL BARS width from default 13 to 8 (making scroll bar much thinner), I loose the finger scrolling feature wherever the scrolling is there. Putting the setting back to default 13 (from any other number) get's the finger scrolling back. TOM do you know how to resolve this issue, or perhaps some one else. I guess something has to be changed in registry once I make the scroll bar thinner !!!!

Now I did play back my SpriteBackup file. But unfortunately the password used before must have changed, can't unlock my device anymore...

I can do a hardreset, but

No idea if it will work when you uninstall. I believe Windows Mobile SDK would be a good idea for you to test before install in 'real live' :D

You can test applications in a virtual environment and when you really want, you can install on your 'real' phone... maybe this problem never happend when you did it this way :cool:

BB v4 is working perfectly.
Two questions:

1. After installing for example the 3.7 dialer, everything is OK, but after normally installing the "HTC X-button 1.51" the boot screen freezes. It is not possible to "upgrade" the built-in parts of the rom?

2. Somehow I feel that the upper right corner of the screen is much less sensible than it was earlier. Especially in IGO it is hard to push the MENU button. Of course I calibrated thoroughly.

Thanks for the ROM, this is stunning! And it's very fast!

The bugs I found where:
-Today screen isn't updated when you add/remove a plugin. Only after a soft reset.
-No sounds for the start menu, and when launching a program (not really a bug perhaps)
-Can't play some audio and video files.
-Alot of files can't be included in the backup with Sprite backup.

When I´m using this ROM with activesync 4.5 I get issues when trying to synchronize my calendar. I get an error saying something like:

"There is not enough memory on your device to synchronize information. Close programs that are running to free up memory, or restart the device.

Support Code: 8007000e."

I never had any issues syncing using WM5 and AS 4.3.

I checked the memory usage on the phone and there is 20 MB free and I have tried to restart the device, it did not help.

Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

Is there a way to disable the auto sound profiles-feature of HTC Home? I really like the HTC Home-Plugin and I don't want to miss it. But I'm really beginning to hate that my device sets itslef to vibrate-mode everytime For now I've disabled the Home-Plugin but I really miss it.


@Tom: Why don't you let the Windows-Default-Theme untouched and put the black B&B-Skin as an additional skin on that device. So the problem with the BaseHue value seems to be eleminated.

Copy it to notepad and save all file *.reg maybe Sponzert.reg (Unicode) and run it = resco explorer.It will change to Contacts default.

when you change the registry key tom mentioned you set the right soft button to call pocketcm.exe.

there is a thread (-->here<-- (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321710)) that shows how to generally change contacts to pocket cm.

the program itself is at /windows/pocketcm.exe (you can read that from tom's post)

Great rom - just one question...is anyone else having trouble with the midlet manager? All I want to do is install the gmail midlet it jumps to the manager, everything slows down almost to a halt. It was fine with the uk wm6 o2 rom but just seems to be kicking its heals in now. The only reason why I want to use it is for the lovely gmail midlet. I also can't install the midlet which may be another symptom of the problem.

my problem is the icons of GSM power signal and volume didn't show properly. The numbers of battery status are ok.

here you have the icons, just copy all files on windows dir of your PDA overwriting the ones you have. soft reset and go.

this is the first modification i have done to my orbit and boy am i proud of what was achieved.

ive been messing about with some of my programs...they are incredibly fast! resco photo viewer, resco explorer. i still have to put tomtom but i doubt there would be any issues there.

one thing i have noticed....the transcriber is no longer there? the thing where you can write on the screen in whole words. im pretty sure this was in WM5.

also, can someone direct me to a guide on battery status and how to overclock this bad mother! i assume that if i over clock it slightly, the cube thing should go a lot smoother? its fine but lags a bit (very slightly) when you swipe from bottom to top to exit. do other people get this?

i also want to remap the touch flo button from a hard button to a soft one (i dont really need the calender shortcut on the today screen)#

any help once again is greatly appreciated.

I miss the transcriber too, I use it a lot and am struggling without it. It was in the previous Touch-Flo ROM I was using.

copy all images to \Storage Card\tempimg (in ex.) then move all the images to de windows dir with file explorer.

You could use Total Commander. Move the files from ur pc to a temp folder in your device with Activesync and then move them from the temp folder in your device in your windows folder. It works, I did that, too.

Put the attached animated.gif (htc logo) or the welcomehead.96.png (WM6 Logo) in the windows folder.

...but i have problems mit sending/receiving mms on my german o2 obit with tom_bb4. (SMS works fine.)


i got the message:

the orbit isn`t able to download the file.

so i try to get the details automaticly by 02, but i get the message:
the phone doesn`t support mms....

can someone help me?

Thanks Tom for your hard work.

This is the first ROM that I have tried and I just love the speed!
I'm looking forward to the camera/gps and media player fixes.

But my main problem is that my Artemis does not want to boot beyond the 2nd boot screen after installing some apps.

I tried installing Tengo -> Soft Reset -> hang...
SPB Diary -> Soft Reset -> hang...

Anyone know a solution? I'm afraid to install anything that might require a soft reset!

May I please repeat a question that I asked few posts again:

I though have ONE Important question .... here is what I have noticed: If with any app (SKTools or Tweaks2K2 or manually) I change the SCROLL BARS width from default 13 to 8 (making scroll bar much thinner), I loose the finger scrolling feature wherever the scrolling is there. Putting the setting back to default 13 (from any other number) get's the finger scrolling back. TOM do you know how to resolve this issue, or perhaps some one else. I guess something has to be changed in registry once I make the scroll bar thinner !!!!

Anyone knows the answer?

Marvellous work indeed, I have waited a little bit too much time to help you improving these releases but business and precious contacts prevent me from doing so ;)

All is going fine for me, I have just faced a strange bug at the first boot just after my first cutomization: just after having changed the today background wallpaper, wm6 was freezed :confused:
I needed to execute a "barbarian reset" aka pluging off the battery.
But after that, all was ok :cool:

Like many others, I took a couple of minutes to find the magic cube, but the result is definitively gorgious for a geek like me!

See you -this evening I will try Tomtom with the fix for SPV M650

Hi tom. nice work on the bb4.0 but i dont really use the touchflow and like the old htc launch tray so i will be going back to the 3.7...What i really liked about bb4 was the battery status meter. I went to www.chi-tai-info but didnt find the software there.....is there a seperate cab install that u or anyone knows of that i can use? thanks

V4 is a good ROM but really dont use the touchFLO cube at all in my daily use of the fone, is there a way to delete it from the device? Is it just as simple as deleting the touchflo cab?

Also, I know its been mentioned, but the auto vibrate mode bug has reappeared in my device using this rom. Hope that gets solved.

Hello everybody

i'm always enjoying this beautiful B&B 4.0.

I noticed few minor bugs :

- when WiFi is on, clicking on the icon shows "Turn on WiFi" instead of "off", an old bug if i remember

- some problems to connect WiFi if power setting cursor is in the middle. Need to put it to the max to solve problem (bug existing in WM5)

- when i changed the background picture and suppressed it for the first time, i lose the black color theme of B&B's Today :(

- also, my P3300 seems to pump more curent than with my old WM5 !
I used to have 21mA while booting WM5, now it's about 167mA :confused:
I don't know why ? New radio ROM ? new power management ? using my phone too much since B&B 4 :D

Tom please save my fingers, save my power and save the planet :)

It also looks that I am being charged for using the internet. Even when I got a web 'n walk subscription for 9,50 each month. I shouldn't get charged for downloading MB's :eek:
