That is just B&B 4 with coloured icons. The icons are downloadable from this thread, you just use something like Total Commander to write them to the windows folder on your device.

hi guys,
first of all let me start by thanking all u guy's that have made this great rom possible espacilally tom ! :)
i installed this over my dutch t mobile compact 3 and it looks and works great.
but there is a bug that made me hard reset my device twice.
when u select phm tray launch and u soft reset the phone it get's stuck in the startup screen:eek: !?
the only way to get the phone started again is a hard reset.
am i the only one with this problem?

Yes, same problem happens to me, but i found that you can also stop at boot screen when you change any options im biotouch setting...

Weird is that - today my artemis has stoppet at bootscreen with no reason, the cube has slowed down, so i reset... after that i must make a hardreset... That dosen't happen with old rom from topic "touch flo working big time"... tom's rom work faster, but so what i'm askin? doing hard reset twice a day is makin my device unusable

Splashscreen O2 replaces the O2 screen, the very first screen with SPL numbers, with the Earth/upcoming sun picture (splash rom).

The Startup Splash 3.7 adds the animated HTC logo as 2nd splash.

There is also anim_BBv4StartUp.cab which adds an animated BB4 splash as 2nd and WM6 with fingerprint as 3rd.

I'm not sure if this is really true but I think when you turn off the automatic update for the weather-plugin your battery lasts longer. Since I turned it off the power is going down much slower. Anybody else with that experience ?

Yeah, the reason why you can't see the new icons absolutely is that you installed the tabsetting plugin. Copy the new icons to the root\HTCHome folder... Soft reset, and it will work properly.

Hi, Anyone using gpsgate? It looks that there are problems with that sw. When i run it, it ask for install driver and soft reset... but after soft reset I obtain same screen and never start...


No problems with GPSGate.

I guess that there is problem with camera software in BB4, in WM6 from Orbit it worked fine without delay ...

Can someone extract the extended rom form Orbits WM6.:confused:
I think there is a patch installed from Extended Rom after hardreset.

Maybe if we extract the patch. The problems are over.

there is a problem with videos on the 4.0....

Yesterday i took 5 videos..
it doesn't appear on the Images & Videos Explorer...
I see the files only in the File Explorer or in Windows Media Library Explorer..
And finally the videos doesn't work with the windows media player...

Just back from my hibernation...busy in moving house - hence got my Net connection only yesterday and saw Tom's B&B v4 online and a VERY LONG POST !!!

Wasted no time in downloading and pumping it into my Artemis and I can seriously say - Tom you made me fall in love again !

Use USPL, then fired the V4 and it went off smoothe..therafter installed TomTom and uploaded all contacts etc and it works great...quickly went out and drove around to check the GPS, Bluetooth etc and its great - no issues so far.

Have also used it since yesterday and mine has not gone to vibrate mode ! Not that I had a 'virgin' fone ! used Bepe ROM then all Toms versions and now finally this.

I have no shame to say - I have NEVER PAID for a software in my life from Dos to Vista - But for you Tom - I am willing to make an exception !

Donations onway for you for this ROM and all future versions !!!

Will post issues (if I have any - later - Right now I cannot stop oogling my 'Cube') - I think my wife is feeling jealous (hee hee !)

Hi guys, i noticed this reboot failing problem when i first upgraded from WM5 to b&b 3.7

First time it happened i was syncing and installing onenotes, it got to the point where it restarts its self then failed to load, i assumed it was batterystatus overclocking at the time, reinstalled from bootloader (hard reset didnt work) and all was well without batterystatus,

Just yesterday, 3.7 had one of those hissy fits where it keeps trying to connect to GPRS, my radio was on, the device was getting real slow so i just soft reseted it, an bam, stopped.

So, im thinking that its perhaps something to do with an active process that doesnt dump its self on powerloss, it instead corrupts some boot files.

anyone have any thoughts on that?

Don't have a HTCHome folder in my root but created one and put the icons there, did a soft reset and still no change.

Is there an idiot proof way that I can change the icons?

to whom it might concern - i've just tried to disable touch flo in the registry - does not help to free up a lot of ram if any at all

before copying icons to \windows\ folder you must unload the HTC today plug-in. If you don't do this, the icons are in use by the plug-in and you can't overwrite them.

You can't restore Backups from WM5 to a WM6 Device. At least not with SPB Backup. All you can do is f.e. Using PPCPimBackup to backup your PIM under WM5 and restore in MW6.

it is not quite clear from your post whether you are trying to copy the icons when the home plugin is active or not since you wrote that you copied the icons after soft reset which is not quite the consequence suggested

USe Total Commander - using the internal File Explorer to copy the files gives this error

After changing to audio manager 2.0 the problem is solved for the notifications. Now it still goes back to silent mode every time I plug in the usb cradle for syncing with outlook per active sync 4.5.
Any ideas?

I replaced all my Icons on V4 with the colored ones and the Music Icon - is barely visible - I think the original one was much better.

Since I dont have the original Icons anymore - can someone please if they havent replaced their icons in the windows folder - please upload the orginal icons - I need the following two icon files :

In his sentence he means, he can put a password on his rom, but he will never do that... cause he want to share his knowledge and his roms with everybody!! With or without the donation!!!

I want to remember you, Tom never asked for the donations... in fact he even refused it for a very long time... untill SiperX and I talked to him, and insist to receive our donations...

I think your post was kind of an attack to Tom in person... cause you quoted what he said... instead of quote something from SiperX or myself for example... you make it like Tom force us to donate or something, which is not true at all!!

I don't donate something to Bill Gates, cause he doesn't need it, and most of the things he made is crap... but Tom need our support and the things he make is Fantastic!!!

Yesterday i've played around with the GPRS Settings to get Mail or Stuff for the Wheaterplugin.
At the end getting my mails over wlan doesnt work anymore.

i deleteted the gprs connections but doesnt work.

Error: Cannot connect to the incoming Mailserver ...

How 2 set wlan as default to access the Internet?

if you're connected via wireless, the phone won't dial the gprs connection unless it can't reach the mail server.

if the phone has an active connection, it won't dial a new one.

it seems that you have a configuration problem of your wireless

Maybe you try to disable "IdleStart" & enable "BlankScreen" (but it'll draw much power).

You could run iLock from the Slide2Unlock folder in Programs. This will disable the Slide2Unlock program, then just run iLock again and it will enable Slide2Unlock.

IHi there, I have searched the forum and I hope I am not asking a stupid question, but where has the bluetooth connection manager dissapeared to in this Rom, or is it not in WM6?

I have been trying to connect my Orbit to my Nokia 6300 to use the GPRS (Yup I know I can use it by putting the sim into the orbit), but it only disovers a serial port service and and dial up networking, but no ccess points etc.

I am a noob, but I did come across a post somewhere that had a fix for the issue of "the source filter for this file cannot be loaded".

Basicly it was to add two files to the windows folder from the WM5 windows folder. They are the old version of the audio decoder or something. They were 2 dll's.

I don't know if it's a known bug, but when i use camera with 1M pix definition, and i'm using numerical zoom, camera crashes and doesn't store anything (X1.0 works, x1.2, x1.4 and more crashes)

there is a problem with videos on the 4.0....

Yesterday i took 5 videos..
it doesn't appear on the Images & Videos Explorer...
I see the files only in the File Explorer or in Windows Media Library Explorer..
And finally the videos doesn't work with the windows media player...


As a Conlusion

Current Camera Application Bugs:

- GPS-Photo doenst't work
- Camera @ 1M pix and numerical Zoom crashes
- Contact Photos aren't saved
- Video files can't be played
- Filenames of Photo-Files cannot be changed to be 2007_08_09 by default (only 0001.jpg etc.)

it is not quite clear from your post whether you are trying to copy the icons when the home plugin is active or not since you wrote that you copied the icons after soft reset which is not quite the consequence suggested

- very fast battery drain
- contacts somethimes not displaying and pictures attachement to contact.
- phone doesn't go off after 3 minutes as i put it in the settings

my perfect rom would be :
the htc home cab with
-the home icon for time and alarms
-the weather icon
-the program launcher
-the ringtone programs

i don't need the music icon..when i want to listen to music, i use a dedicated program met more options.
and i don;t need the contactshortcuts icon cause i really like the contactmanager (pocketcm)for that.

the camera cab you used in version v3 ..that was the last one that worked perfect, even with gpsphoto

the comm manager was also perfect in version v3

the htc streaming cab of v4 was also perfect

loose the htc touch cube..i don't need it..it's just for showing off but it's not that professional to work with.

then put pocketcm and the contactmanager

loose the battery status today plugin..cause i think thats the one that drains my battery..it a pity cause i really like the fact i can start en stop wifi and bt on my todayscreen...maybe try some alternativ software that does the same.

all other software in application and connections are good.

voila..that is my perfect rom..damn if now i could cook:)

Man, I'm having some memory issues. I used to use Skype with no problems, now it never works, except only when its the only application working. If this is a problem because of V4, I'll have to downgrade to 3.7 because it worked flawlessly in that.
Any other way of my clearing out my programs?
I seem to always have only about 3-5mb of free space under programs.

I'm not shure if I'll stay with 4.0 or go back to 3.7. I don't have any real problems, but 3.7 seemed more stable for some reason. Trouble is that I've just reconfigured my Compact 3 to my likings again, and I don't like to do that very often :).
Anyway, you did an amazing job Tom! I tried a couple of WM6 ROM's, and apart from some minor glitches yours work very fine. Keep on optimizing!

since I last upgraded my orbit from b&b3.7 to b&bv4 the wifi function is kind of disabled. To me it'looks like there is an hardware prob but maybe its'something that can be easily sorted by one of you genious out there..;)
when tapping(by the comm manager screen) the wlan icon,it won't turn blue and just the spinning color thing appears producing no change.Even when I try(in Wireless-->settings) the Turn on wireless LAN won't act any better.
it would be an extreme pain to go back again to previous rom cause I really like this one and of course reconfiguring the whole device means wasting a lot of time.Hopefully only minor bugs wich needs fixin i think and won't force me to return to v 3.7..goodnite:p

If I did't set regional to Thai , when I select ThaiWinCE keyboard , Keyboard will back to use "normal keyboard" . I can select ThaiWinCE keyboard if I set regional to Thai.

But when I try send SMS with thai language . Target can't read thai. My message is ???????? instead.

It's a wonderfull rom, i just have a problem dor sending a file by bluetooth.

My bluetooth is activate and i have attached my mobile phone to my soon's mobile, i choose the file and i click "send" to the menu.

Nothing appears and i cant to nothing.

I'am tying to send the file with the bluetooth explorer and i have a messsage access denied.

My soos is sending to me a file and i have receive it.

In my p3300 it's attached with my car kit Parrot and it works perfectly.

Someone can help me ?

I've read completely the forum about Black&Blue v4.0, but nowhere i can find the solutions for my problem about the Today screen (running ofcos B&B 4.0). What actually happens is, when I change my today screen, like adding an item or remove an item from the Today screen, I won't see any changes after doing so. I have to soft-reset to see the changes! It is ofcos very annoying, because I just want to see how my Today screen looks without soft-resetting.

As far as I know, the roms I had before didn't have this problem.
Could someone please tell me whether they also has this problem and if it was solved, how to solve it?? Many thanks!!

By the way, great rom besides that problem, but i do think almost no one has the same problem with the Today screen, otherwise they mentioned it already...but how come it is then different as we all have the same rom!?

In my BB3.7 Contact Photos waren't saved too. I didn't use GPS Photos in BB3.7, maybe it's ok.

Sending files over BT is done by "Beam" option. Just turn bt on, find your file in File Explorer, right click on it and select beam. It'll search for all devices in range(wait a sec to get devices names). Click on the device you want to send a file....that's it.

Just installed it, looks nice. Not sure what the TouchFlo is supposed to do though, a well, I'll figure that out along the way. I did spot a little problem, when using the Network Wizard to connect for the dutch T-Mobile it configures the GPRS bad. It can't connect because it's using the wrong Access point name: 'internet-act' which should be just 'internet'. Not sure if this can be fixed by you in the next version, but just thought I'd mention it.

Of course you can change. I had the same problem and then i changed in settings rotation to 180 and mode to portrait.
After that the picture was ok on the display, but the colours were wrong (everything that is yellow was blue).
To fix that i just changed pixel order to reversed and everything was running fine.

I would reallyl ike to remove the touchFLO but cant, perhaps the next rom can come in two versions, touch and non touch.

After recharging the battery status remains the same even using my orbit for a couple of days... it is only after a soft reset that is starts to come down... Have already tried a hard reset but this didnt solve the problem... any idea how do i correct it?

Honestly, I would suggest installing the V4 ROM and donating to TOM, I used both v3.7 and v4, donating for both, and I must say, apart from the gps photo bug, after the the fixes for the automatic vibrate... I find this ROM (v4) flawless. If you have an Artemis and are using the OEM ROMs your missing out.

Take the plunge, install v4 use the schen cab for the tab settings for the 6 button home plugin and you will be smiling! I have a 4 tab home plugin and couldnt be happier. The installation start
indicate % on the phone and on the PC and stop at 3%
and we have the "update error" msg on the PC.

Read through his thread but have not found something which could help.
X-Button just closes when pressing the "x" by stylus, but the button assigned to ok/close does just minimize and does not work.

Make sure that the option of this connection,connects to the internet is checked and not to work or anything else.If not wont work.

There are some errors when using the network wizard.
For T-Mobile your acces point must be internet.
The wizard has the wrong setting it put internet-act.
So just delete -act and i must work

I've read completely the forum about Black&Blue v4.0, but nowhere i can find the solutions for my problem about the Today screen (running ofcos B&B 4.0). What actually happens is, when I change my today screen, like adding an item or remove an item from the Today screen, I won't see any changes after doing so. I have to soft-reset to see the changes! It is ofcos very annoying, because I just want to see how my Today screen looks without soft-resetting.

As far as I know, the roms I had before didn't have this problem.
Could someone please tell me whether you also has this problem and if it was solved, how to solve it?? Many thanks!!

having tested all version of toms b&b , I find version 3.0 to be running flawlessly on my hero, while all other versions are in some or the other way buggy.

only thing i am missing in version 3.0 is htc home plugin the way it is in version 4.0!

any chance of getting the cab, tom? or is it on first page: HTC Home Tabsetting ??? FOUND IT: YES this is it!

(p.s. tried copying new symbols to win gives me a write protect, any way around that, please?!) FOUND IT: Copy via total commander!

I am a noob, but I did come across a post somewhere that had a fix for the issue of "the source filter for this file cannot be loaded".

Basicly it was to add two files to the windows folder from the WM5 windows folder. They are the old version of the audio decoder or something. They were 2 dll's.

Hope this helps.

You need to disable the HTC Home Plugin in the Today settings first.

I've discovered today that if you use the trackball (on an orbit) to take a photo, it's instantaneous, but using the camera button still gives the second or so delay.
Hope that helps in the interim.

PS, I'd love the email icon in HTC Home to go straight to my Exchange account as well :D

After a soft-reset it takes very long to boot up (have the B&B 4.0 with 2 bootscreens). Maybe a registry modification or something to bootup faster (like in windows you can set the delay shorter)

It worked all together, but when I changed back to the "Windows default" theme from B&B4 (the black one), the upper and lower bars stayed green (the ones from crossbow theme).

Did you do a soft-reset during/between flashing procedures? Some people THINK if they do a USPL flash and when they get a window popup after completing the procedure in the DOS screen, the flashing won't work because there isn't any activesync connection. THAT is normal, although the popup screen tells you, you have to have an activesync connection. Just ignore it, and don't do a soft-reset of whatever, just don't touch your mobile and tick all boxes and click next, etc...after doing the USPL you can do a flash with any rom.
I don't know this is the case for you.

I've got the same problem. I was in B&B 3.7 and want to upgrade to B&B 4.0 on my SPV M650.

The only way for me to upgrade to B&B 4.0 was to "downgrade" to an official ROM (ORANGE WM5). When OK, run USPL and upgrade with B&B 4.0. It work.

Maybe it can work for you to...

Been following this thread for a few days now and have got as far as downloading the ROM and USPL files. However, being a total NooB AND lacking in computer experience I´ve held off trying to flash my T-mobile MDAcIII. So, if someone could help me with a few questions, I´d be very grateful.

1. I assume that the WM6 ROM is included (or is it just the TouchFLO?)
2. Has anyone done the flash and NOT had any problems?
3. Am I right in thinking this is an O2 ROM, and if so, do I need to reset all my T-Com connections? (an sms to T-Com will do that, I know)
4. Does using the USPL get around the Net-Lock from T-Com?
5. I can flash this over the existing WM5 from T-Com without having to flash other ROMs onto my device first?

So many questions! My MDAcIII is barely out of the box and I don´t want to end up with a brick and have to go back to T-Mobile with my tail between my legs and ask them to (expensively) breathe life back into it :eek:

Oh, and where possible, answers to my questions (pretty please :) ) as if you were talking to a 5 year old :D

1. Yes it is the full ROM not just Touch Flo.
2. It works fine on my MDAC3. There are a few bugs but only ones that everybody has, like no video etc.
3. This is a generic ROM in that it does not install any carriers settings. You will have to set up GPRS and email manually for T- Mobile.
4. Yes.
5. Yes, UPSL enables you to flash any ROM on your device. You could even flash back to WM5 from T-Mobile if you have that ROM.

The Problem for me is, when i run the USPL, and the DOS window gives me 100% complet, and my phone goes white.... I allso get the ROM update Utility and cheked the box and next, but it comes with a window messege that IT CANT Regonise the Phone :o :o :o And my phone just hangs with the white screen, Where the only way to reboot it is to remove the batteri :(

This page describes how to upgrade your Artemis ROM using an SD Card. This is useful for:

* Linux and Mac users: you don't need windows to upgrade the ROM


ARTEIMG.nbh on a FAT32 filesystem

1. Empty (erase the contents) of your microSD card from the Windows Mobile file explorer or format it from your computer using a card reader (in some cases format doesn't work).
2. Extract the .NBH file from your prefered ROM upgrade: In windows use winrar (right click) to extract the contents of the exe file. In Linux / MacOS use cabextract.
3. Rename the .NBH file to ARTEIMG.nbh and copy it to the root folder of your microSD card.
4. With microSD card inserted on the phone, start the bootloader (The bootloader is invoked by pressing down the Record button and using the stylus at the same time to press the RESET button at the left side).
5. You should see the screen pictured on the left, confirm flashing on screen by pressing the volume slider down.
6. Flashing might hang after some time but this is normal. Just wait. Complete flash takes about 30 minutes, so check your battery or connect to charger before the flashing process starts.

SuperCID devices are able to flash any NBH image using this method.

1. run start_uspl.exe - a dos windows appear ...wait until 100%
2. then a new window appears (pad phone rom update) -> agree and then press next
3. a new window appears: after analysing your phone it shows you your rom release and on the update release, you will see 9.99 then flash it.
4. after 100 %, the phone boot again -> see your spl version
5-if 1.11.0000, then flash B&B v4.0

Hi, I´m running 4.0 since a week. Got no problems with it, as I do not need the Videos.

1. I´ve read, that there might be a leek of Battery while using phonealarm. Is there another software that can repeat akkustic alarms for missed calls?

2. I like to use another Calendar than the MS one. Is there a good one that fits perfect to the b&b design?

3. I never got problems with Autosound, however I did not run the fix - file. But I did not use the Sound Options with the HTC-Today-plug-in. But maybe someday I press the wrong button. I like to fix the autosound. Witch of the 3 solutions is the best? What shall I do?

have you tried to disable all running firewall and antivirus apps on your pc and after it run the uspl?

Only one minor issue that I have, i can not disable wireless through the signal indicator. It can only be done through the comm manager.

If its unlocked by uspl - the spl will have a 0 at the end if not cid unlocked will have a 1. (uspl will give 1.11.0000)

Still chicken about going for it, but no risk is also just too boring (though I´d rather brick my MDA than do a bungee jump!). Think ll go flip a coin!

that's an issue of WM6 and not a specific issue of tom's rom. nothing you can do at the moment (at least not that i know of)

Have finally decided to take the plunge and flash a ROM for the first time ever (B&B4 is so sweet looking!). But somewhere along the line I must be doing something wrong.

I have USPL.
I have the B&B4 ROM.
Am using an XP sp2 PC (no Vista here!!)

Soft-reset Arty then, ActiveSync with PC. ActiveSync connection is established. Run USPL. When USPL has spun its magic I then get the flash ROM screen. Tick the boxes (in screen 1 and screen 2), it then checks my device........ ERROR 240 check connection... blah blah blah.

Any thoughts? When I soft-reset I get all the usual T-Mobile guff and then Arty bounces back to life as a T-Mobile WM5 MDAc3 (thank God, better than a brick!)

It's easy. Go tom any program you like, even on SD-card, and hold down you're stylus and a drop-down menu will appear. Select copy and go to windows\start menu\ and paste it as a short-cut. Then rename it if you like. Go to the HTC home and select an empty space and you can select you're program.

Had the same thing. After USPL did his thing, white screen, flash the uspl rom but got error 240 msg. Screens stayed white. I hard reset the p33k and then tried the uspl again. This time it worked. After that installed the BB4.0

Works ok now for 3 days, no hickups at all.

First let me just say, this ROM is good! So, good, that for a few days I actually kept it on my device in spite of the fact that sometimes I couldn't make or receive calls!

After installing B&B 4.0 and the HTCHome SoundFix, I sporadically experienced the following issues:
- Sounds may play ~10% faster, at a higher pitch
- No sounds played
- Mic and Speaker disabled (no sound when in call)
- Unable to activate Speakerphone (when no sound)
- No sound through bluetooth headset

There was no discernable pattern to when any of the above symptoms would hit. Most of the time, plugging the phone into a charger or into activesync will cause the sound to reappear. You could even play a sound file, and by plugging and unplugging the charger you can cause the sound to be heard or not heard. Volume controls behave normally, but have no effect. Strangest thing...

I've also tried reflashing, and the problem recurs. This issue does not occur with WM5.

To Tom's credit, some of these issues also occur with the Dopod WM6 rom, and another WM6 rom, so it may not be specific to Tom's version.

Also, I've experienced the following issues:
- GoogleMaps does not work (known issue)
- (a few times) HardLock at B&B boot screen (known issue?)
- PhonePad does not render properly in landscape mode

In spite of this, I'm very excited by this ROM, and look forward to trying out the next version when it comes out.

I wonder, perhaps if they found an issue with WM6 and a hardware rev used in the UK version, and that is a reason for the delay?

I had same problem with no sound. Only way out is HR :/

In my case it is by .cab of my bt keyboard. I found it after few HR's and reinstaling all my usual appz. It is fine now but I miss my keyboard :(

Hi I had the same problem, and nothin worked, so decided to try flashin my rom to and earlier verion as some of the guys here told me 2 do... afterwords every thing went smoothly...
