Use "RemapSoftkeys.exe" then you can change the softkey to TouchFlo... the last post about that is not that

Have now hard-reset device, and then run USPL and then tried to flash the ROM. Always end up with the "Error 240: Connection...."

At this point I think I will give up the good fight as I have now tried just over 20 times to do this flash. All you lucky buggers that got it up and running, I am SO jealous but at the same time, wish you all loads of fun with what looks like a brilliant ROM.

And cheers to Tom for taking the time and effort to put it all together. And also to the Beta testers who took the risk of trying it out and hunting down the bugs (if MicroSoft were so diligent we would have WM7 by now and running at 100%).

Sad to say, I tried this on an MDA III and often when it went into standby, it wouldn't turn on again without pulling the battery. Shades of the Tosh G900 ;)
Replaced with the HTC/Dopod 3.5 ROM which is rock solid. Less eye candy, but much more stable for me.

For all people who are having difficulties with flashing, i've been forced to flash on another computer, and to return with the original "Orange" rom before. But now all is ok, the gps too thanks to Kulbutor's fix !

Hello Tom, congratulations on this rom, I've been using it since it came out and its great, there are no problems at all.

Just one little thing, if I'm in the middle of a phone call and type numbers in the phone they start showing on top of the B&B logo and it is difficult to see them, is there a way to fix that?

The blacklight is switching On but there is no sound and nothing in HTC tab.
I cant find the SMS in the phone !

amazing Artemis from pdamobiz also has touchflo for artemis, but imho this rom is overloaded with too much applications and there are some thai-specific settings in it...and you don't have the comfortable biotouch in it. i like tom's rom much more

Works fine on mine too, only issue was that I had to call them up and have my device ID reset after my first WM6 upgrade (to official HTC rom not Tom's)

There is a TomTom update here: http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=6736&Lid=1 you need to download the free TomTom Home software to install I think. ******ONLY works with TOMTOM 6 maps though, RTFM first!******

If you look in the X-Button app (Start > Settings > System) it shows you how much memory each app is using. I can't remember if I've installed a newer version on my phone so if you don't see it then let me know and I'll link you to the cab.

No. I´ve already tried so. I think the problem is that this rom searches de complete phone number string and not only, for example, de last 6 numbers as nokia do. So, when the complete string arrives (from an international call for example) it shows the name, but if i´m on my country, it arrives only the 9 numbers not the +351 , and so the phone do not show the name. It´s a big problem for me. The missed call list has only numbers...for example...

I've experienced the same. I adjusted the TouchFlo settings (look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=127 )
and now it seems to work much better! Also activating the cube with a finger sweep is very easy now (you don't have to poke your fingernail in the bottom of the screen anymore....:eek: ).

me too. I've also thought that i am too stupid to scroll...good to hear that others have this "problem" also.
but it's not happening all the time, just sometimes... and after a few finger-sweeps it work correct again...strange :)

happened to me, too
did a hard reset, ( did you do hard reset?? that is when phone off press the 2 soft buttons then the reset with the stylus, releasse the stylus but keep pressing the soft buttons for 2 more seconds and and then a popup comes for the reset data etc)
reinstalled the rom that was already in the phone and all ok
( no need to upload the rom with the uspl method )

I´ve read some postings with a fast battery loss. I´ve got the same problemo. In about 2h, I loose 10% with all programs shut and display off. I think that´s very fast. Ist there a solution so far, or do your batterys do a better job? My Orbit ist brandnew...

Hi tillo. I had that problem with the Black & Blue v4.0 . I disabled the weather updating option and since then the problem seems to be gone.

Thanks! X-Button does indeed show memory usage for applications currently opened but it doesn't show how memory usage in the background is working. For instance I am now running SlidetoLock Which uses 5mb or RAM when it is functioning but it doesn't tell me that in X-Button.

Also my Orbit will fluctuate between 20mb free and 8mb free (with slidetolock running) but I have no idea where all my resources are going.

I have a minor problem with the cube:
when i try to press some of cube buttons with my thumb - the cube don't recognize my press , but when i touch the button with stylus, or my nail it works ok!

i install touchflo cab that starting the cube with slide move from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1439585&postcount=127
then the fix for it
now the cube starts evry time , just perfect but buttons in it don't work evry time with my thumb, only with stylus or nail

my question is:

Now I've got the cube working well enough, I've got a couple of questions about it:

1. Is it possible to have more than 6 applications on the launcher? It seems to me that 10 would still be usable with a finger and be a bit more flexible. (10 works well on the Comm Manager app anyway)

2. Is it possible to link to the programs folder (like you can in the HTC Home plugin) from the launcher

Have problem though with the HTC Weather plug-in. I can only update it through the Wi-Fi. When I am trying to use the GPRS I am getting the message:
"Unable to retrieve data for selected city."

I am on the US T-Mobile.
Can anyone on the same network confirm, if they have it working and what could be the problem on my end?

Slow single application behaviour is usually due to high background CPU usage. Don't believe your new "htc home customizer v.07" is NOT a problem. I think it really is. Run PocketMechanic to see what is the main CPU consumer. Hope this helps

I flashed for 4th or 5th time my SPV M650 with the v.4 without any problem, without bugs… but with my last flash, after a reboot, I notice that it puts more 5min to be started…
There remains more 4min blocked on page B&B Blue….
I thus gave the Romanian Orange then still passed by again to the v4: idem… whereas at that beginning did not do it… in the same way with the v3.7 who walked impec.
I did not put any software, I did not modify the base of register…

Second bug: I do not have any more the icons of the Weather:confused:

Soft-reset Arty then, ActiveSync with PC. ActiveSync connection is established. Run USPL. When USPL has spun its magic I then get the flash ROM screen. Tick the boxes (in screen 1 and screen 2), it then checks my device........ ERROR 240 check connection... blah blah blah.

That rom is running without problem on my P3300, all Works fine :D :p :D :eek: It's amazing

I don't have installed much programs on my PDA but my storage memory free is very low ± 1,5 Free

I have cleaning all tmp files and cache etc .. without result.

I have find on my windows directory a lot of HTC HOME files (type " HH-WEATHER. png and others), i think i can remove it because i have that files another way in an HTC HOME directory in the root of my PDA but i cannot delete them.

I have an error message "read only" files or so on.

Could you help me to remain a few space please.

Hi tillo. I had that problem with the Black & Blue v4.0 . I disabled the weather updating option and since then the problem seems to be gone.

Hi all. everytime I do a soft reset it freezez… ive done more hard resets in 3 days than the whole of the XDA users put together… ARGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems to be everytime I load an application on onto the xda, e.g. realplayer or pim backup, do a soft rest it stops working. i have read some where on the thread that sometimes you have to wait up till 4 mins after soft reset. is this true?

hi, had some issues with this 2, try this.:

1. Start --> Settings --> Input and choose the favorite keypad...
2. Soft-reset
3. After a new start, U still got the normal keypad, choose ur favorite and voila :D

I like to install apps myself...everybody has other favorite-apps. Why not just install on your own ?
I like both of these to tools, but i like it much more, when i can decide if i want to install or even not.
Otherwise someone else wants this app also included, another one likes that and this...and and and....
in the end we have the same overloaded image (imho) like amazing Artemis (it's cool, but for me there are too much apps on this rom
that i never use, for example a thai-input, or two registry-editors., etc...) Am i wrong ? :rolleyes:

I can't get HTC PhonePad working. I used B&B 3 before, where everything worked fine. Now I can install the green, the dark and several new ones but none at all works.

Totally agree with Magnus, the BB ROMs should be basic ROMs as they have been, maximum free space and totally user customizable. I have reached a zen state with my 4.0 and really only have a gripe with the camera issue, otherwise, I think this is utopic!

can anyone tell me how to change the SMS/MMS icon in the biotouch setting so that i can start righting a sms directly?
I saw in the registry an open command: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command\(Defau lt) tmail.exe %1
I tried to set this in the biotouch settings
Name: SMS/MMS
App: \windows\tmail.exe
Params: %1 (I think this is where I need to put something so that it directly opens new sms) But it doesn't work. It just freezes and nothing happens :(
I also tried the Soft Key.cpl application I found on this thread. You can choose "New SMS". But when I assign it to the right softkey I get the following error message "the file 'tnsms' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found..."
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello everybody, specially to Tom_Codon for this incredible release.
I have a P3300 Phone and I have a problem with the TOMTOM and the GPS. The first time that I install the TOMTOM it works perfect, I mean it says looking for a GPS signal, but whenever you do a Soft Reset when you turn on again the TOMTOM it always says NO GPS DEVICE!. Do you know what can I do? If I do a Hard Reset and I install the TOMTOM it works perfect until I do a Soft Reset. I am using the TomTom Version 6.03 witch it has the option in the select your GPS receiver menu of choosing BUILT-IN GPS RECEIVER.

Any idea of what to do?

no fixes, but you can circumvent the contact photo bug by doing this:
- set camera to normal phot (i use medium resolution)
- make picture in portrait format
- click the "viewing glass" icon to preview to picture you just made
- hit "menu" -> "save" -> "save to contact..." and select contact

you can then click ok and leave camera, the picture is saved to the contact.
its not perfect, but at least you can make contact pictures :cool:

I have big problem with connect PC and my Artemis. When i try to do this via Bluetooth, PC talk to me then dont see any services ;(( So i cannot connect PC and Artemis ;((( USB connections work fine... What i can do did in this case ?

One note for the people using a Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset:

With Tom´s Rom there is no more (or at least only little) distortions when using my Motorola Headset. Also the device doesn´t hang anymore when shutting off the bluetooth headset before ending the bluetooth connection in the comm-manager.

This really is an improvement to the factory rom from O2 (WM 6).

So everyone having difficulties using a bluetooth-headset should try Tom´s rom...

is it possible to release only the camera fix? Because I've built up a nice and stable 4.0 up to now, and if it's not necessary I will not want to reflash with 4.1 just for the fixed camera... ;)

Please divulge some information about the new rom's features! ;) I'm very concerned about it. If it looks fine for me and it not just a bug fixed 4.0, I don't want to keep the 4.0 anymore and I will update...:)

The phone now stops on the second splash screen (the one with Windows Mobile and the Black and Blue logos, and won't proceed any further. How can I get it going again as I cannot establish Active Sync to re-flash the ROM to the phone?

Hard reset, you WILL loose all data. Press and hold the 2 soft menu buttons and press the reset (stylus into the hole on the left-hand side of the device) still holding the buttons until you get a black screen with white writing.

This will format the user drive and reset everything back to the last time you flashed it with B&B.

I have reverted to the official WM6 ROM from O2.

I think, the stopping on the second splash-screen which always makes a hard-reset necessary is caused by the "phm traylaunch". since I disabled it, I made about 30 soft-resets without any problem...

I have the same problem. I can set it in vibration mode, but it simply doesnt work.

Even more weirdness...i did a hard reset and got vibrate back, then checked vibrate after every system change/app install. I was almost finished but after the last soft reset the pin input screen disappears, go to comm manager to disable/enable phone, still no pin input, go to options->phone, got pin input but after that no more vibrate...disabling/enabling phone in comm manager turned it off ?

But then i did 3 more hard resets and even reflashed BB4 but stilll no vibrate ? :(

Does anyone know if there is a registry setting for vibrate i could check ?

pleeeese can you solve the SIM problem in v4.1? Every time i try to set my german Keyboard or the PocketCM keyboard as default it doesn't work. After every soft-reset the english keyboard is default again. Even worse ist that when i use the english keyboard one, i cannot change the IM afterwards. So i have to use the english one or do a soft.reset which is very annoying.

I LOVE your ROM and can't wait till 4.1 comes out. 4.0 would be perfect if the SIM would be changable..

Another thing: I've seen a screenshot of your new ROM and I don´t like the smooth clock style. Can I turn it back to the oldschool clock that`s also in 4.0?

There are other ways. Install SPB Pocket Plus as the first thing, one of the features this gives you is the ability to boot in Safe mode (all addins/today plugins disabled). For me, it hung, I activated Safe Mode, it hung again, but on the next restart it booted in safe mode. I uninstalled the last thing I'd installed (a different version of HTC Home I think), and on the next reboot it was fine. Perhaps it's a HTC Home corruption/settings thing, HTC Home is one of the things disabled by Safe Mode.

If I didn't have Pocket Plus on first, I'd have been screwed...

I had the same problem. I think it's due to a backup from WM5 through programs like "SPB Backup" or similar. When you tryu to upload old Pim Data to WM6 it's seem to import them but you get the error and you can't any new one.

I tell you how I've solved the problem.

1. Sync your contacts with Outlook via Activesync.

2. Hide your Sim contacts by
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Phone]
"ShowSIM"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable.

3. Erase all contacts in the way dabs1 told in his previous post:
"...Connect your device up to active sync.After the synch has stopped,go to explore device via activesync. Under my device you will see a file called pim.vol. This contains the contact info. Rename this to something like pim1.vol and close.Softreset device.Go back into active synch thru explore device.During the soft reset windows automatically creates another contacts file called pim.vol which will now be empty..."

4. Sync back your contacts to your device now able to add new contacts without problems.:D

Hi all,

Wow, what a place to post my first thread, love this firmware, am still hoping to use all of the plugins, including the battery status plugin, as i like the tray icons which overcome the lack of 'turn wifi off' functionality on the topmenu. but until there is a way to overcome to soft reset 'crash', i'll have to do without it.

Having a bit of a problem with the proxy server settings at the moment. I connect to standard networks, which all work fine including home, but as i am work, i have to go through an ISA server with a proxy on 172.1.0.5:8080. These settings never seem to stick. I'll add the details in settings-> connections but once i leave it won't stick, i go back into it and the proxy server is once again blank.

I can't sync my emails or browse the web whilst i am work, which is a big reason for me having this phone in the first place, any ideas on how to resolve this niggly little issue?

Hi, I have reflashed my O2 Orbit with Toms B&B V4 and am trying to assign Touch Flo to a button. Since I have already assigned TomTom to Button 1 and want to keep all the other button assignments the only option I think I have is to assign TouchFlo to a Button<N> (Hold). I assume that Button 5 is the only other button that I can use as a multi function button but can anyone please tell me how I access the 'Hold function' like it has been done for Button 6 in Toms ROM.
Or should I use the Button Free Activation method posted in the Development and Hacking area?

Wether u want a buttonfree option is up 2 u. It worked fine 4 me too but i prefer a hardwarebutton option myself. 4 this i use AEButton (for all HW buttons you can set 3 functions (i use only 2 per button), by pressing short, long or double pressing the button.

This is a better option, since you will miss the current button otherwise.

Its all a matter of personal preference, personally I feel using a hardware button defeats the purpose of the touchflo interaction. I prefer this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1439585&postcount=127), nice and simple movement just like like the actual touch, actually its the opposite but still the same motion in reverse, once again a matter of preference

just be glad you got that error... you could have bricked your device, you need to read my friend start here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403), then here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321503). You must run uspl FIRST, very good guide on what to do in the first link, then you will be on your way, best regards

Hey Tom...also looking forward to 4.1. Unfortunately have had to hard reset every few days due to system freezing when I switch it on in the morning. Hopefully 4.1 will fix this but either way will continue to use it as the best rom I've seen.

My only 2 requests about 4.1 would be:

A bigger dialer pad - i.e. using only 3 keys wide rather than 4 - I don't have very big fingers but still struggle with this size.

I've never been great with the search tool - any chance we could either create a new folder for Artemis about 4.1, or create 2 or 3 threads - 1 for install issues, 1 for usage questions, 1 for suggestions for 4.2 etc?

No, its not, you have to cook your own rom. to make this possible, all of the roms you see are built off of the original rom. Good luck in your endeavours

Sorry, not sure if this has already been addressed, but I couldn't find anything.

In version 3.5, there's a bug, wherein upon a soft-reset, if you have a GPRS internet connection active (downloading an MMS, for example) doing a soft-reset will cause the phone to never reboot, and it will hang at the "Windows mobile" screen.

I've recreated this a number of times.

Is this bug fixed in this release?

I too have reverted to the O2 Official WM6. I am missing the HTC Audio Manager app. This is the only thing (other than TouchFlo) that I miss from B&B4.

So, why don't you use the HTC Asia Official WM6 ROM? It has Audio Manager built in!

I've been using that ROM for three weeks and I am satisfied. It's stable, quite fast and you can also install the Home Plugin and black theme if you want.

Not true. Tom is using (I think) same O2 UK WM6 ROM, just adds a lot of stuff from Kaiser, TOuch, and others you can download as well, but does NOT test it properly, so there are more bugs :( Clean O2 UK WM6 (or Asia Dopod WM6) with only components you need is the way to go. You can download any components he has used freely in these forums.. His ROM is no big deal (no disrespect meant, I value people who do stuff, any stuff).

But as I said, this is my personal experience only and 1 million other people may think B&B is superior.

Hi everybody,

before posting into this very long thread i tried to search for situation similar to what i'm experiencing but to no avail.

So, i have succesfully installed the B&B v.4 ROM version and gosh, it looks wonderfull!! Thanks a lot for the nice work!!

The only thing that makes me go crazy as it seems i'm the only one stumbling upon this, is that TouchFlo won't start at all!!! I press the button, or either launch it from the applications folder, and nothing happens!

What's wrong wih my pda? Did i miss a passage?

Anyway, IPL is 1.14.0001, SPL 1.11.0000 and Radio is 2.95.65.

I have to tell that i've started from my previous standard Italian ROM, because i didn't succeed at installing the HTC English standard one.

Thanks a lot to everyone willing to help me sort this out.

Same here. I downloaded from 4pda and then from kingruebe. I gt same error meesage as above using both. My current P3300 image version is 1.12.405.1 (official P3300 WM5 + radio updates).

I updated it because have many people said.If they change theme in today and then it want come back to default theme.IT will have Blue bar not black bar.

Look for APlauncher.exe in the Windows directory - its no longer called touchFLO.exe

Just take your finger...start at the top bar, go all the way down to the bottom bar, there you go. works like a charm

For me 4.0 works fine except Camera (know bugs: contact photo, gps photo), all of mi stuff is working, include HTC remote controller W100 with Audiomanager, Battery ok, conections ok, speed ok, TouchFlo without hardware button, pocket Cm keyboard 0,5, etc..........

Tom, its posible repair camera bugs whitout flash rom, ........with any .CAB? or registry modifications?.

Nowhere, they're all "special" people who have the rights to test the new ROM. Wait a few days (or few hours) for the releasin of this ROM.

I had no problem with B&B 2 but like several people, it seems, I can load B&B 4 fine but if I switch it off or soft reset it after installing something like CE-Star to view chinese fonts and put default language back to english or french, I end up being stuck at the 2nd loading screen with the only option of hard reseting the device.

Its quite frustrating and right now I'm left with the only choice of having B&B 4 with my synched data but no apps installed to prevent having from hard resetting and reinstalling everything AGAIN for the 6TH TIME!!!!

Therefore I hope the people testing B&B 4.1 are also people who have been having this problem since 3.7, and not people who havent had it, else I don't see how this problem will ever be fixed...

Thats a great and valid point to make... people who are testing it need to ensure that this ROM is stable... the soft rest needs to be tried after installing some applications just to see whether it freezes on the startup screen. Because if this is the case then there would not be much point in installing the ROM. i had this issue with version 4.0, i probably did 13 hard resets, which eventually became very frustrating hence i returned to the original o2 rom. i love Toms rom and did want to keep it, but couldnt afford to keep hard resetting.

Tom your doing a great job and keep it up. hope the bugs fixed so i can install 4.1. the people who are actually testing thios ROM can you give us a better review apart from 'its working perfectly'... if you can go into a bit of detail explaining what is different from the first and the bugs that are fixed. that would be much appreciated.

I had the "getting stuck at 2nd loading screen bug" with the 4.0 version and I am testing the v4.1 version. So be sure I'll tell Tom if this problem occurs ! But, for the moment, no hard reset ! Good neeews :)

Would it be possible to use a Spritebackup autorestore file, made with BB 4.0, once we have installed BB 4.1?.

Depending on the answer, it will be easy or not to use the 4.1 rom quickly.

For me 4.0 works fine except Camera (know bugs: contact photo, gps photo), all of mi stuff is working, include HTC remote controller W100 with Audiomanager, Battery ok, conections ok, speed ok, TouchFlo without hardware button, pocket Cm keyboard 0,5, etc..........

Tom, its posible repair camera bugs whitout flash rom, ........with any .CAB? or registry modifications?.
