I don't think this thread was intended to be sexist IIRC, but I think inevitably in a male dominated field like this, guys think they have the upper hand. I work as a lawyer, another male dominated field, but the smartest lawyers I ever met were women. I know many very highly skilled ladeez who share our passion for rom hacking and tweaking etc.

So IMHO it's best not to joke too loudly about geek girls - I don't think many men would take a knife to your gonads, but we know that women are mentally equipped in uterus for a pre-emptive de-gonadification. And buying all those handbags and shoes is a stronger motivator.

My wife put her Motorola pink phone thing in the washing machine recently (no joke...), so as a temporary measure she used my old xda mini s....

I am glad to inform that she is in love with it! Certainly not using it to its full potential (and neither am I), however she's loves the layout, email, notes, the keyboard, and of course solitaire ;)

Mrs Vijay555 uses my old p900, with heavy modifications. And she uses it very competently...

I still think it's a more usable phone then my Windows Mobiles, but I can do more hacking and coding for the Windows phones, so we're both happy. However, she's got her eyes on an iphone as soon they're released in the UK :( Woe is me.

Mrs V is not a geek by any measure, but she has a 6th sense for when I've done something naughty, and then she turns into Trinity, burning through my passwords, hidden folders and encryption like a girl possessed. I've learnt it's best not to be naughty: she's got a mean punch.

Unlike Vijay's partner, my love is quite a PPC-addict(now, WM professional addict :D). She has owned many Pocket PCs till now like himalaya, wizard, universal etc.
Currently she owns a universal and is probably one of few girls in the world who like to carry universal whereever she goes.

Having lived in the US for some 12 years now I feel it is my patriotic duty to point out that someone must be blamed for this little mishap.

I'd like to blame Bush, but as much of a screwup that he is, this isn't really his fault... he's too much of an idiot to be blamed for this.

Blaming the government as a whole also doesn't do anything because even after smelling a cow's rear end they won't be abe to figure out what they just smelled.

MTV is the next likely candidate and I believe some blame must be assigned to this completely useless form of disentertainment. But still... not quite enough.

At this point I am lost and I also just realized that I may may have committed threadcrapping :p

Women surely need to come with a quick start guide, a dummies guide, if you will.

My efforts at inserting my dongle into the auxiliary port have been unsuccessful thus far: clearly I'm using a Mini Firewire and require some variety of round ended port adaptor. Repeated efforts merely resulted in several reboots to the gonads. In future I will apply copious quantities of silver/gold based thermal compound in advance to assist.

Fortunately, Mrs V grounded me with a large iron skillet, which had the desired effect and resulted in a rapid reduction in my overheating system.

But as I have always seen it (Im only half greek, I spend 99% of my time in the UK) greek(cypriot,etc) men just seem to turn their wives into their own mothers after the first child!

Then they get bored and go hunting for a "play" thing ot two...or three...or four....


Back to the subject though, I am glad to see some women on the board.

My Ex wasnt particularly tech savvy, asking her to record something on the humax pvr would be like asking a paraplegic to scale the north face of the igor, also she owned a n-o-k-i-a (Whatever one of those is?!) and she certainly didnt like me playing with my wizard.
