You can use a "mobile remote controller", such as My Mobiler (http://mymobiler.com/). You can control your phone from your PC and use the PC keyboard to write your SMS. ;)

First, I use a screenreader on my phone because i'm blind. When I installed The rom, the screenreader would cut out right before the last silible or word spoken. so for example: settings would be turned into setting. I think this probably is more of a screenreader not being tested with mobile six then a rom problem.

I read all this thread and saw people mentioning you gotta format and only then to flash... i gotta admit i sorta skipped the binfs step and just flashed from SDA current WM5 directly to WM6 (20070810) and works flawlessly :rolleyes:

Why must we do all those steps?
PS: I Seriously think you should include T9 English for the main purpose of being able to fill in the details straight from flash :cool:

Okay, I have solved the mystery of the display timeout problem! It's easy once you know it (but then isn't everything?).

I still don't know what actually causes it but the symptom is that no matter what display timeout you set (30 sec, 1 min), as soon as you lock the keyboard, either manually or with AutoKeylock, it will be reset to 7 seconds and stay there.

With a bit of investigation and a couple of hard resets I worked out that in this section...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Power

There is usually one key when the keypad is unlocked. The "Display" key shows your normal setting in seconds (30, 60, etc). When you lock the keypad, the "Display" setting is changed to 7 seconds (7) because that's sensible for when the keypad is locked. At the same time it creates a new key called "TimeoutSaved" which is your normal (30, 60, etc) setting. Now under normal conditions, when you unlock the keypad, the "TimeoutSaved" is deleted and the "Display" key is reset to your normal setting (30, 60 etc).

For some reason, on mine the "Display" key was not being reset, it was staying on 7 seconds.

So the fix is easy. In the subfolder...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Power\LockLevel

there is a key called "LockLevel" and it has been set to "3" or "4" (don't know how or by what program). All you need to do is reset it to 0. Fixed.

Like I said, it's easy when you know but it took a bit of messing about to see exactly what was happening.

Hope this is useful to anyone having the same problem (I know it happened to ega2002 so it might be quite common). No more hard resets or reflashing :D

Problem is not only in media :) Per words of russian users, GPRS works MUCH more stable on this build - and this is VERY important! IMHO :) So - can we hope and/or bless? ;)

Andot, you didn't understand me! I am talking not about WMP build 17740, but about OS WM6 build 17740! In this OS build GRPS issue has been fixed (by M$ or HTC - I don't know).

It keeps disconnecting, and after it disconnect the first time I have to stop the AS process to make it see the phone again... really disturbing.

@ZlydenGL i don't have GPRS problems with andot's rom.. and i use grps quite a lot (unlimited wap via http proxy) :P. right now i have the AlwaysOn tweak. what gprs issue do you have?

Thanks for the hint DSF, but it doesn't work. Well, it shows me the defined program (MultiFlashLight) for less than a second, and then returns to the original application (for long press VolUp = All Notes). So there has to be another setting overwriting the - in my case - Long_VolUp.lnk!? In "Long_VolUp.lnk" i wrote:
30#"\Windows\MultiFlashLight.exe"
Is that correct?

Maybe there is a registry setting for this? How has andot managed to assign the key? :confused:

Hi All! I apologise in advance if this is not the right thread for my post. I have been having a recurring problem with WMP not recognizing the MP3 tags properly. When updating the Media Library it misses some MP3's (always the same ones) that have the same MP3 tags as the others. (Well, except the titles). I have had that in WM5 and it continued to appear in WM6 as well. I've checked the MP3 tags on my PC and they look alright. (IDv1 and IDv2 as well)
The album gets loaded up ok in WMP on my PC.
BTW, TCPMP plays all MP3-s perfectly fine!

Anyone's got any ideas?

anyone else have trouble with sim toolkit operation? It's there in the menu. but when I get a reply from my operator (a sequence of aknowledging what i'm going to do followed by a screen to choose payment options and then confirming) the first reply screen shows up, but whan i push ok to continue, it drops out, and the transaction is closed with me recieving a sms that the request is cancelled due to timeout (after a while).

Other than that, my tornado has never felt better! thanks to all involved :)

I have a weird issue, nither does my Startup or Shutdown screen are shown, no matter if they are on the Storage Card or Windows folder. Even when i tried to convert them to GIF like the images currently being used :(

These images i'm using are working on my second identical mobile which is WM5.

EDIT: Also tried the files as: GIF, JPG, BMP, PNG on either Storage Card and Internal Memory. Only Images willing to load up are the WindowsOpen.gif and WindowsClose.gif which were included in the ROM itself. and Yes i've tried to rename and convert my image to the same as the included files and it's a no go :-/

I think you need to edit the xml tempate file, delete the line for internet calling

there's no midlet manager included in this ROM. Install Jeomek midlet manager. you can find it in the extras.zip in Phils BETA thread. Read the thread to find out how to set it up, it's covered several times.

ok.... for me it works pretty good. just select the storage card as the default destination folder and it will save it in the my documents folder from the storage card.. so in a way it works since it does save the files in the storage card and not in the phone anymore.

I've just flashed my spv c600 with this ROM.
I was using a IMATE SP5 ROM 2.0.7.0 / 2.5.331.2 (WM5) because i don't like Orange :p i'm using BouygTel.

No problem at all ! With a french T9 Language added, i have the save device as before, but under WM6 ! it is faster, nicer :) and i don't want to change for another one anymore !

ok.... for me it works pretty good. just select the storage card as the default destination folder and it will save it in the my documents folder from the storage card.. so in a way it works since it does save the files in the storage card and not in the phone anymore.

Is there any registry setting that needs to be done to change the destination folder when I use bluetooth explorer...

now when i open a file (eg mp3) it starts playing it after ~6 seconds. i don't remember that previous versions had this issue.. or?
Ok, i've found out what's the problem.. only the media files from Storage Card were affected. Previously, i didn't update the library..
Maybe because there are many media files and WMP cannot handle big libraries. or is the SD driver?
How do fix? simply delete library folder from storage card, this will delete the playlist with storage card media. that's it unfortonately..
i guess it takes that time beacuse WMP have to update the library with play time count and other statistical stuff. + this SD driver (at least with my 1gb kingmax) makes the system lags when starting & finishing write to storage card.

Maybe that is not a bug. I had this from the beginning. Also using the original software / firmware. But if it can be fixed, it would be great!

I don't know if this is something I did or if it's an issue with the TPEE ROM, but when I press and hold "1", Voicemail is not launched. I've tried to assign a voice tag to it, but it didn't work ("reserved entry", could not modify). Now there's nothing assigned to it and it's impossible to assign snything new because of the same "reserved entry" special case. I'm forced to assign voicemail to key 2. Is there a workaround?

I can confirm my voicemail # is set in Phone - Options and I even tried clearing it, rebooting, setting it, rebooting, etc. Still nothing.

I did a dive into the registry and even tried using the rapiconfig CSP, but to no avail. How can I fix this without hard resetting my device? This has to be stored somewhere!

Uninstall SMS Intercept and install Saman's SMS Delivery Receipt Fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258130). ;)

BTW, first installation attempt on my device has always been unsuccessful, but the second one succeeds. That's strange! :confused:

manfredi90, this rom contains only english interface and no any language input method. You can install any language that you want by yourselfes for interface and any T9 or xT9 language for input. All aviable language you can find at forum, for example in Phil's extras. Good luck;-)

here are my experiance with Andots PEE

RULE 1.
when you first install it be sure to delete all your previous files from your WM_etc etc folder and do not syncronize old WM5 files with new one OS.

RULE 2.
Install Clear Storage and run,
it is necessary.
I know, you have nothing saved,
anyway, it helps 100%

RULE 3.
Do not istall all programs from Extras.zip, only ButtonFix, t9 English and some of non-ulitilies programs like MS Office and TCPMP.

RULE 4.
Do not install HTC Camera or any of HTC program which will affect system.

RESULT
You will have no problems with speed
You will have no problems with camera brightness so much
(camera is still bad but better of HTC Camera from Extras)
You will have no problems with volume
(you can change it)

STILL:
You will have problems with programs saved in StartUp
(you must hard reset or flash again)

Hi guys,

I've finally gotten around to upgrading my i-Mate sp5 from the old wm6 alpha version to PEE v6. It's looking really good, but I am having some problems with my keypad since the upgrade.

Basically, when I press the 5, 6, or 7 keys it registers as several presses of that key - usually 2 to 4 times no matter how quickly I press the key. It makes it almost impossible to enter text in either the xt9 or ABC input methods (it jumps straight past the letters to the numbers).

I never had this problem in WM5 or in the WM6 alpha. Has something changed in the keypad driver in the new version? Is anyone else having this problem?
Is there anything in the registry I can use to fix this? (keyboard repeat rate or something like that)

Privet mykola007,

Make sure that your SMS Service is set to GSM and not to GPRS or GPRS preferred).

Go to:

Start Menu> Settings> Connections> SMS Service> <GSM>



Also,

From what I understand... all messages (SMS & MMS) arrive in the same box on your newly installed WM6 phone... perhaps you are trying to retrieve a picture message and you don't have GRPS configured correctly (if this is not the case disregard the following)... check with your cellular provider's website to find the correct configuration needed, apply the neccessary changes. (usually the MMSC & GRPS settings)

All other SW working fine exept sms.

In my WM6 8310 I have set up B]Start Menu> Settings> Connections> SMS Service>[/B] <GSM>. It IS GSM.

also had exactly the same problem. but, after uninstalling all HTC additional software provided in Extras.Zip, phone runs more quickly.

Is there a software that enables me to read and write sms-messages from my PC... I used Dr. Neils SMS program that worked just great. It was free and it did the job. I have tried to install it again, but it doesnt work with WM6...

Probably known buggy limitation - I have WM6 PE V4 and I can connect to my WPA AP, but i cant transfer any data, unles skype mobile connects first (it probably tries something that 'enables' network access).
On open APs, i connect without any problems in 5 seconds...

what language are you using?

go to \Windows folder, copy Camera.exe.0409.mui to Camera.exe.xxxx.mui where xxxx is the language code .

you can get the language code from registry: hkey_local_machine\mui\available

I need your help to solve the display when the keylock on.

I use the keylock application 3.9 beta 10 and also try to find the answer for this problem.

Mine is Dopod 577W with this thread ROM. When i activate the keylock, the display will on by itself if i touch any keypad so it is draining my battery.
i tried to use the HKCU/Software/maniac/autokeylock/Disableligh... to 1 but the problem still there.

Appreciate if somebody can help me how to disable the display light when the keylock is on, perhaps i miss it from the thread even i try to search time to time.

Seems like you are entering the wrong PIN.. PUK = Pin unlock code. Please call your operator and get the PUK code.

No. IE is part of the ROM. It's read only. You won't even be able to delete it from the directory.

Alot of things stop working if you don't have IE ;) Most applications take their internet settings from IE, like WMP and Windows Live etc etc, only one I know of that doesn't is TCPMP

This rom is great!!!! But I have one bug!!!! Celetask says that my processor is at 100% all the time!!! and there is no aplications runnig!!! the processor is not really at 100%!! I can open aplications and games whitout a problem, its only showing 100%!!!! If we had an English only version, how many kbs could we salvage removing all references to foreign languages, from the registry, home XMLs...

when i buy, this come with WM5 from T-Mobile original Rom. This feel slow, but i thinked thas is normal.
But when upgrade to WM6 ooo my god!! 60% more speed.

The included camera language file is not compatible with this camera app. I will remove it for next version.

I was advised by another user here that this Tornado ROM can also be used for the HTC Wizard?

I have the Cingular 8125 and my reason for wanting to use this is I need the A2DP protocol so I can stop using the mini plug in my car to stream audio to my Bluetooth stereo (Pioneer 9800BT). Is this correct?

I have read the whole thread, but I didn't see anything about this working on a Wizard.

That's funny, because I found a key in the registry for Chinese IME or MUI. I posted about it in one of the threads where I couldn't make English and Spanish work together.

If you look at (i.e. edit) the default XML home templates, they have options for all the 0400 IME languages.

The ROMs are Western IME, which has always generally defaulted to English for the UI in windows products.

The language pack is for input, but yes, it has the MUI which displays the various languages. But just because it's not being displayed, doesn't mean it's not there. As in the above example...

Since my 8125 won't do A2DP without hacking it, would it be better if I just went and bought a 8525 instead? Is there a better AT&T phone to use that that? I am thinking of calling ATT to do an upgrade. What do you think??

Okay, I have solved the mystery of the display timeout problem! It's easy once you know it (but then isn't everything?).

I still don't know what actually causes it but the symptom is that no matter what display timeout you set (30 sec, 1 min), as soon as you lock the keyboard, either manually or with AutoKeylock, it will be reset to 7 seconds and stay there.

With a bit of investigation and a couple of hard resets I worked out that in this section...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Power

There is usually one key when the keypad is unlocked. The "Display" key shows your normal setting in seconds (30, 60, etc). When you lock the keypad, the "Display" setting is changed to 7 seconds (7) because that's sensible for when the keypad is locked. At the same time it creates a new key called "TimeoutSaved" which is your normal (30, 60, etc) setting. Now under normal conditions, when you unlock the keypad, the "TimeoutSaved" is deleted and the "Display" key is reset to your normal setting (30, 60 etc).

For some reason, on mine the "Display" key was not being reset, it was staying on 7 seconds.

So the fix is easy. In the subfolder...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Power\LockLevel

there is a key called "LockLevel" and it has been set to "3" or "4" (don't know how or by what program). All you need to do is reset it to 0. Fixed.

Like I said, it's easy when you know but it took a bit of messing about to see exactly what was happening.

Hope this is useful to anyone having the same problem (I know it happened to ega2002 so it might be quite common). No more hard resets or reflashing :D

Alarm for me Is a V serious accessory
My phone worked trully well with It's Inbuilt alarm and cooperated a treat along with CT Alarm Clock lite
which eventually both went on/fired up at their predefined times
So In my case everything works a treat

and If needed download a clear notification utility for SmartPhone

Only one gripe with this ROM is the startup image that is used. Makes absolutely no sense because there's no logging in that's going on. I know this can be changed. You can fix it using the steps on this page - it's for a T-Mo dash, but the same idea.

Basically, the instructions are like this:

Download SKTools Lite Smartphone Edition, then follow these steps:

1. Load SKTools Smartphone Edition (Clean up and uninstaller utility)
2. Select View -> Maintenance -> Notifications Queue
3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and there should be multiple entries already checked for “Clock.exe”.
4. Select Action -> Delete marked
5. Do a soft reset (turn off then back on).

It worked just fine on my brother's phone, mine has never had that problem though.

2. I'm trying to get WAP and MMS to work and the settings are different to WM5. You used to be able to select user defined connections (ie Orange GPRS) in IE and MMS settings but theres only the "Connects to" options "Secure WAP Network", "WAP Network" etc etc and I can't figure out how to set it. I also had a Proxy in WM5 which im not sure about anymore.

I've search the forum for similar problems but non are mentioned.

I have a strange problem with AutoKeylock on PEE. On the screensaver it shows: "Messages: -1" :-) When I recieve 1 message it shows nothing, so it's counting from -1. Why does it do that? I tried to uninstall and install again this program but it didn't help. Also, when I write SMS and the screen goes to "dim mode" I can't back to writing. I have to back to home screen then go to start menu and then I can back to SMS. I don't wanna do HR. Any idea?

I've had the same problem, the only thing I've been able to attribute to it is having Low Light activated when I reboot - if it's running, I'll get the freezeup about 50% of the time, if it's not I haven't noticed it freezing. Would be something to check on yours.

did you format BINFS before flashing the new ROM? or hardreset after flashing?
you can change that image by replacing with another. i don't know the name, but you can lookup in the \Windows folder, it's a jpg or png ( i don't remeber)

lowlight is bundled but not activated . you have to activate it (it's under accesories folder). if you pull out the battery while lowlight is running, the next time you boot the phone the display will be turned off.. in this case you have to open camera (or other application that is using the full display light) and run low light.. :d

2. you can just follow Qlphn's advice or if you really want the "MMS Network" option , do this:
- run a registry editor
- go to hkey_local_machine > comm > connmgr > destinations
- create new key MMS Network
- go to "MMS Network"

did you format BINFS before flashing the new ROM? or hardreset after flashing?
you can change that image by replacing with another. i don't know the name, but you can lookup in the \Windows folder, it's a jpg or png ( i don't remeber)

lowlight is bundled but not activated . you have to activate it (it's under accesories folder). if you pull out the battery while lowlight is running, the next time you boot the phone the display will be turned off.. in this case you have to open camera (or other application that is using the full display light) and run low light.. :d


i didn't hard reset or format, cos i already had the alpha version.
must say that it's the 3rd time i reboot and it gave no problems, but i'm sure it will happen once in a while (more likely when i'm forced to reboot after a crash, so i stumble in 2 bugs at the price of one... which is VERY irritating)
It's a problem i've always had, even when i updated to the second imate rom.

as for that lowlight thing, i think it has screwed up my power settings! now the phone will not switch to the dimmed light when idle, but directly shutdown the screen when the timeout is hit. lowlight is not running, and i've reset the power options but the issue is still there...

every time i reset, no matter the backlight options, it turns off after 5 seconds.

and i have another problem: WiFi won't start up correctly one time in two. When it's teh case, the Wifi settings menu is missing the first option (WiFi submenu is missing: i can't see the available wifi networks) and the home screen carrier plugin doesn't display "Wifi: Off" or whatsoever wireless indication.

Activate the keylock after resetting. Turn off Wi-Fi by comm manager and reset again. Your Tornado will back to normal.

So I made a change in the registry to change the location of my ring tones so that I can store them on my miniSD. Here is the change I made.

HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\Directory = \Storage Card\

I cannot seem to get this too work. It worked on my Wizard without any problems. Now, after the change when I go to select a new ring tone (yes there is a file on the root of the storage card - mp3) it still lists the default rings and tells me each one is missing or corrupt, but does not list the mp3 file on the storage card.

any thoughts?

Update: I can select the ring tone for reminders, new email, new text message, etc. Just not for "Ring Tone" or "Internet call ring tone".

Update: I found a post in which someone put the ring tone into the My Docs folder on the Storage Card and got it working. Even thought the registry entry points to \Storage Card\ and the file is in My Docs it is working. Weird, but I am not goign to worry about it since it is working.

All i ever had to do (with both WM5 and WM6) on my Tornado is to just put the MP3 Ring tones in My Documents folder in the Storage Card and it would automaticly see and able to use them from there.

I recently upgraded to WM6 5.2.318.15341 from this forum and have been quite pleased. That said, I have found two issues.

1) from time to time, the pointer stick either sticks or won't move at all.
2) when the phone is rebooted, it doesn't maintain the time or download it from the network, I have to manually reset it each time. Fortunately I don't reboot often as the ROM is quite stable, but its annoying nonetheless.
3) I can no longer find the IPL or SPL version details in the Settings -> About or Settings-> System Information. Any thoughts?

Has anyone else seen this problem? Does anyone have a fix?

I'm having a very strange audio problem with my Qtek 8310. I had a phone conversation a few hours ago which went fine. However, someone rang me up an hour ago, the ringtone went on as usual, but I couldn't hear anything from the speakers. I received a text message after that where the notification tone played as usual aswell. I then tried playing some audio/video files which had no sound either.

Strangely enough, if I go under Settings:Sounds I can hear everything.

When I reboot the phone, there's a sweekish sound when the bootscreen comes up.

Does anyone have a solution for this?
