My device is Dopod 577w, if you used C600 or other device without WIFI, maybe you will get more Free Memory.

There is NO IME in this ROM, so you need to install T9 or xT9 after flashing.

The Short_AP1 ~ Short_AP4 are not defined, because SP5 and SP5m are different with those keys. If you don't know how to defined them, you can download the sp5.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=46839&d=1186790764) or sp5m.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=46840&d=1186790813), and unzip it to \Windows, everything will be OK.

you can copy the startup.wav & shutdown.wav into \Windows directory, and then you will get boot sound and shutdown sound.

If you don't like the boot screen, you can change it in to what you want, The administrator login picture is \Windows\startup.jpg. The boot Animated Boot Screen is \Windows\WindowsOpen.gif, and the Animated Shutdown Screen is \Windows\WindowsClose.gif.

if you want to use Voice Command with BT headset, try this: MS Voice Command 1.6 BT over headset with latest wm6 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308247). Thanks for janp (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1433010&postcount=438)'s contribution.

If you have flashed phil's rom earlier then you dont need to flash ip spl and gsm

I agree that the beta is buggy. I just installed it on this rom and it didn't function quite well. keys didn't respond and I couldn't get the screensaver work as I would like.

guys, why do you prefer xT9 ? don't you use xbar or other app for copy & paste? xbar copy paste does not work with xT9! with WM5 default T9 system work.

Hello, I find that, A2DPfix in Phils' Beta cause the high cpu usage. I will remove it later.

is it possible to disable it somewhere? maybe from the registry? I don't even know what A2DP is but I guess it is related to bluetooth, something I have never used in my life. So can I disable it? Otherwise, I'm afraid it is not logical to keep the cpu busy like this all the time.

HKCU/Software/Maniac/Automatic Keylock/Disable... (don't remember key exactly, but it causes workaround of locked keyboard) to value 1 :)

BTW! Quality of A2DP is awful! Andot, can I give you some recommendations around registry keys? :)

HKLM/Software/Microsoft/A2DP/Settings - DELETE all keys in this branch! SampleRate cause bigger CPU recources (it is not on behalf of A2DPfix!!!), UseJointStereo just provide MONO sound :(

HKLM/Software/Microsoft/AudioGateWay - conversely, return ALL keys :) Without them speed of playback is always floated :( Also I always set to key Capability value 45 - per MSDN it is more functionally, but it is optional

WLM only can type number at login screen at first, I find it caused by wince.nls which include chinese, so I changed it, and then, I can type other characters. This is what I fixed.:)

HKLM/Software/Microsoft/A2DP/Settings - DELETE all keys in this branch! SampleRate cause bigger CPU recources (it is not on behalf of A2DPfix!!!), UseJointStereo just provide MONO sound :(

HKLM/Software/Microsoft/AudioGateWay - conversely, return ALL keys :) Without them speed of playback is always floated :( Also I always set to key Capability value 45 - per MSDN it is more functionally, but it is optional

You are out of information :) These bugs are related ONLY for A2DP fix in Phil WM6 :) In this ROM mentioned fix was removed - read the first post!

I just discovered that function of Add Voice Tag to contact works very strangely on Qtek 8310!

It means that only after lots of my attempts I managed to add the voice tag to a contact since the system was still unable to recognise my voice correctly.
After when I saw that the tag is stored with a contact, I tried to call it.
System was not able to recognise that tag, again.
System recognition seems to be very, very poor.

Do you have the same experience?
I would appreciate some advice and solution of this needful function.

In other ROMs I can point the cursor on panel with name of mobile network operator & date/time. In your ROM there is no such functionality. I understand that is is just alternative method to launch comm.manager - I'm just interesting - why such things take place in your ROM? It's a bug or a fiture? :)

Of course, you’re right. But problem is, that after I press the VolDown key, I must try it many times (3-5x) until system recognizes the tag correctly (at noiseless environment).

I have read every single post in this thread.

Being human in nature we ask what is best for ourselves. Likewise in this ROM cooking project. Luckily we have cookers like andot and Phil and the others who are quite patient.

I notice on one hand people asking for xT9 and on the other the T9. To be fair to the cookers can I suggest that both input methods NOT be included in the ROM. Let the users decide. After all both are already in cab form.

The other issue is about third party software being requested to be included in ROM too. I think we ought to be practical here. Lets say a particular software was included in ROM. But a couple of weeks later there is an upgrade to the particular software. Are we going to bother our beloved cookers to cook a new ROM in order to accommodate this update?

This ROM is the smallest ROM, it has 0xde00 sectors, if you didn't used sectors less than this number, the remaining sectors can't be used, they will be waste.

If you used sectors more than 0xde00, you need to build a big ROM than this ROM, and the step of the ROM increase is 1M. In other words, if you used 0xde01 sectors, you will waste 1MB - 512Byte, and you will get the total storage 20.94M, if you used 0xdddd sectors, you will get the total storage 21.94M. and the 21.94M is the bigest storage number the user can be have, but when the os init, it will cost some user storage, so the user storage always less than 21.94M.

Well, I don't have WIFI, I have used it only to switch the bluetooth and found it very handy. Wireless homescreen takes too much space.

Using Destinator SP 6.1.29 with this ROM, I've found out that the keyboard shortcuts are letters instead of numbers (M for mute, Q/A for Zoom In/Out, etc) and the "old" numerical ones do not work anymore. There's something in this ROM (a registry key apparently) that makes this application think there's a full keyboard on the phone. There was no such "bug" with Phil's alpha ROM (not tested with the beta one). I don't know if there are any other "confused" applications out there, but it is quite possible.

Any suggestions about which registry key may cause this "bug"? Maybe something left behind from the chinese language support removal?

I was kind of surprised to see that the beta was included although there were people who said it is buggy. I guess the ROM must be kept free of beta and buggy software.

Anyhow, the rom I have right now is working pretty much flawlessly (which is one of the older andot roms) and I have no intention of flashing again as long as there is any beta or buggy software included in the rom.

By the way, please andot, try to keep the updates as few as possible. I know that you are trying to answer everybody's wishes but it doesn't really make too much sense to release another rom every few hours. once the previous rom is tested heavily and all bugs are identified and solutions are produced you can release a new rom for everybody's use.

Of course, this is my own view point here. Maybe there are people out there who enjoys flashing their phone every day. I am not speaking on their behalf :)

"Windows Mobile 6 for Tornado Perfect English Edition Released! " Is a very beautiful name ;) but please give different names to different versions (e.g. "beta 1" , "beta 2" , "build 34", "build 35" or whatever). If you don't, people are going to come back to this forum wondering if they have the most current version and most likely there are already versions of this on a P2P network somewhere. There is going to be so many different builds of this and people complaining about bugs, but if they don't know what version they have, you have no idea which version the bug came from and people will start asking questions about bugs fixed a long time ago...

@illi , unfortunately i haven't found any software for omap. developers haven't done smth for omap because the ir driver was poor (only with ir drivers from iphone my phone react to ir beams.. donno from where the rom cooker has got them)

it's relative easy to add new languages (localisation).
For german you need the *0407.mui files and to add this to the following key

Also, if there aren't localisation in your language you can create your own. copy the english (for eg) localisation and edit them with Resource Hacker or similar programs.

Yes, HasKeyboard is set to 0. But there are two other settings set to 1; ClearHasKeyboard and RockerSupport. Setting them to 0 had no effect. :(

EDIT: I've found out that Destinator SP has two set of hotkeys; one to be used if a T9 keyboard is present (numbers) and one if a T9 keyboard is absent (letters). Apparently, the missing T9 values from this ROM caused the error.

BTW, what do ClearHasKeyboard and RockerSupport do?

please excuse the noob post but I've got a stock standard SP5 which I want to upgrade to WM6.

Am I correct on the steps:

1. check the SuperCID status and make sure I'm CID unlocked (as per Phil's other thread).
2. upgrade the SPL/IPL using WM6GSMUPDATE.zip (this is the bit I'm confused on?)
3. upgrade to WM6 using wm6-for-tornado-perfect-english-edition-20070807.zip
4. Install any extras I want from EXTRAS.zip (as per Phil's other thread).

Does that sound about right? Am I missing anything?

The Autokeylock works. But the screen saver Wil be displayd when you press a key accept the right shortcut key(will start the unlock proces). So Autokeylock isn't buggy

Hi All, first post so please be nice.

I think this ROM is excellent but....

I am trying to set up push email from my companies exchange server. I have proved it works well on other ROMs (Phil's) but when I try to set it up on this build the joystick doesn't work when setting up the enforced security. I am trying to set the device lock with simple pin but I have no way of moving up or down through the required firlds. This is also the case when I go directly to security/device lock. The biggest issue is that when the system enforces simple pin security there is no way I can find to cancel the request. This means the phone is stuck on the device lock setup page and the only way to get out is to pull the battery and rebuild! Any advice would be appreciated.

Keep up the great work. I love my WM6 phone.

Make a .LNK file (see below) using the default Windows Notepad then copy it to the \Windows directory of your phone.

1. to activate the Contacts button, make a .LNK file with the following entry and save it as Short_AP1.LNK :

Some suggestions

Do you think it is better to configure the communication manager button, so that when you press, it will straight away go to the main page where there are 10 options to choose ( phone, WIFI, BT, beam, IP phone, etc etc ) ?

Right now, if we are in the WiFi page, turn on the WiFi, then straight away press the Home button to return to Home, then when we want to turn off WiFi, we just have to press the comm manager button again when we will go to the main comm manager page instead of the last page before we press the Home button

Also, as with your V3 ROM, have you tried the VOIPiser ? I can't configure it, I get, the XML input is invalid or malinformed

Also, as for V3, the page where all the WiFi available AP are shown, the screen width is 176 and not 240, making it look like a WM2003 apps

andot, I'd like to ask once more: VoIPiser is buggy, please remove it. I've found plenty of information on xda-developers how to configure VoIP without this tool.
Anyway, if anybody still needs it, installation through cab is always possible.

I would also suggest a simple GUI designed to configure startup/shutdown sound and screen. It would be more user friendly then, right ?

Voice Tags can't work with the AKU2.0 joystick driver, I didn't test Voice Command, maybe it also can't work. Most of people think AKU2.0 joystick driver is more important than Voice Tags (Voice Command).

Not necessary! I think V3 is already quite well:D only some one think AKU2.0 joystick driver is important, but I think the old keybddr.dll is better than AKU2.0 joystick driver.(for example: the old driver works well with Voice tags, and allows you long press POC)

SMS Service: You can change send sms through GSM or GPRS.

I would suggest, that new option is added in Sounds Settings where startup and shutdown sound can be manually configured

Meanwhile, under homescreen, add a new option to change startup and shutdown sound, don't you think that Microsoft should have added this options LONG ago?
