View Full Version : Wizard reboots after establishing an Internet connection

I first thought it may be IE but then I tried using my wizard as a modem and it had the same effect - reboot.
On some occasions when I use IE it actually falls into a never ending reboot cycle. Last time I had to remove the battery AND SIM, boot up, shut down, install the SIM and again and reboot to make it work again.

Some history.
I have the Cingular 8125 version of the wizard. I recently upgraded to WM6 (XDA Mobile 6). It worked fine for a few days. The only SW I installed was Google Maps and a Sudoku program.
Then the rebooting happened.

I went back to the WM5 original ROM which didn't help.
I am now back to WM6. If I don't use the Internet, it works fine, i.e. phone function, text messages, etc.
Funnily enough even syncing with exchange seems to be working (but it uses the Internet, doesn't it???)
When I connect to the Internet via IE or using the phone as a modem it reboots after a while (minute or so)

Any ideas why? Any suggestions on tests, fixes, etc.?
Thanks!

No, I'm afraid not. I gave up on the Wizard and dug out an old Blackberry I had stored away in a box somewhere..
I didn't buy a new battery - I figured I would rather save the money and go for a better phone further down the road (more CPU, WM6 pre-installed, etc.)

Please let me know if the new battery solves the problem.
Thx!

treo...not!

The definitely sounds like a battery problem. If you've had your device for about a year or more, it's time to change the battery.

Here is how the problem manifests. The battery appears to charge, but it really doesn't hold the charge. Consequently, any high-drain activity (such as data transfer) will cause a "brown out," cause the device to reset, and will probably cause the device to enter a reset loop because the battery has an insufficient charge to complete the reboot process.

To test this, try the device while plugged into a charger. If the device works witehout a hitch' then you know the problem is the battery.

The good news is that an OEM battery is US$10 on ebay.

Do not order one from Megacapacity.com or Ecapacity on ebay. I have been waiting for 3 weeks now:mad: . It was only 10.50 with free shipping  Now my 8125 keeps resetting, I'm back to my first love SMT5600 :) 8925 any week now

I just ordered one off Amazon for under $4. With shipping it is still under $10. No matter what it should work better than my current battery...

I'm not facing such a problem but would be nice to see how it goes with the new battery. Please don't forget to post results. Tx
