Phil's WM6 has german localisation (at least I'm running the beta and 99% of the menu text is in german). Maybe he could upload it separatly so people can use it for other roms.

Hi guys!
Great work about wm6!!! Great!
I'm looking for the upgrade method...now i'm 'on learning' mode...
But there're an italian translated version of Tornado WM6 (cooked), just inside in SO, or a simple addon?
Thanks!

WM6 emulator are not enough. The files contained in the emulator translate ~75% of the text. To achieve 100% translation, we need files in Vox's ROM.
I didn't manage to get my hands on a French VOX ROM. If someone has a dump, it would be very useful :D

@qtek_metanol i've extracted & packed the German localisation files from WM6 Alpha.
Sorry, no cab, so you have to do these manually:
- copy all the files from the zip archive to \Windows
- run a registry editor
- go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI\Available]
- add "0407"="German"
- go to system > regional settings > language
- choose German
- reboot
There are also windows live mui, you can delete them (those starting with WLM) if you don't use windows live.
@zati what's the language you are looking for? French is allready in the list according to neof

Do you have mxip_lang.vol and mxipupdate_metabaselang_040C_001.provxml ? These files are related to localization and might contain extra strings compared to the ones provided in emulator.

just copy the missing files.. :).
you can also try to overwrite, but for this you must switch the language (eg: to english). because if the file is in use, it cannot be overwritten
zati no problem. wait a few moments
edit: no mxip_lang.vol file. only mxip_system.vol & mxip_notify.vol ..

Hi andibike,
i've attached the german localisation from vox .
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI\Available]

PS: not the entire software will be translated, don't expect that your shortcuts name (from start menu) will be translated too. for this you need to do extra work. (or manually or via cab.. maybe someone will take care of this aspect)
also there may be some stuff that are not translated (eg: error report).. because of different versions or because 'mui' is included in exe file..

Renaming the shortcut is a good workaround but it's not a flexible solution.
The registry key you're looking at is HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Shell/StartMenu/Order

maybe the extra langauge operations are bundled in some dsm/rgu files..

This is a solution to install jsut after the upgrade or the install of a rom ( because everybody have the same icons at this time)

One more note: you also may update the registry for better translation.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\file\0409]
@="File Protocol"
"URL Protocol"=""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\file\0407]
@="Dateiprotokoll"
"URL Protocol"=""
that's just an example. if someone has time and mood to make these changes and bundle them into a cab (don't forget also to include mxipupdate_metabaselang_0XXX_001.provxml to cab-registry)
Tip: search for 0409 in registry to see what has to be update to your langauge

Hi,
here are the german mxip_lang.vol from phils alpha rom. this make some things more german than the files from DSF only. You only need edit this registry key :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
here are a keyfile called "LangDBPath" , change the name in "\mxip_lang_ger.vol" and copy mxip_lang_ger.vol file to your phone directory. now reboot.

My Greek Localization Pack is complete! It is 100% compatible with Andot's ROM. Everything is translated, except the Camera and the MMS applications.
I've removed the Windows Live Messenger localization files and included them in a new greek-english release of the latest WLM. I've also prepared a greek package of MS Office Mobile. ;)
WM6 Greek Localization (http://rapidshare.com/files/52991617/WM6_Greek_Localization_by_NiTroGen.cab) (Uninstall Fix (http://rapidshare.com/files/52991904/WM6_Greek_Localization_Uninstall_Fix.cab))
Windows Live Messenger Greek (http://rapidshare.com/files/53107756/WindowsLive.Smartphone.Greek.cab)
WM6 Office Mobile Greek (http://rapidshare.com/files/52713475/Office.WM6.Greek.cab)
If you want to uninstall the greek language pack, first run the "Uninstall Fix", reboot your phone and then uninstall the pack!
Oh, and don't forget my Greek-English t9 package (http://rapidshare.com/files/48719331/t9_Greek-English.cab) and the SMS160 by ACE Hellas (http://rapidshare.com/files/52712595/ACE_Hellas_Greek_SMS160.cab) application for a complete greek language support! ;)
Bugs reported so far:
Cannot create a new email account if greek language is set. Change language to english, create the e-mail account and set language back to greek!

Can I know, how do we extract the files? Which files to get
NiTroGenious
4th September 2007, 08:59 PM
Simple instructions: Use this tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311078)to extract all the MUI files of your language, mxip_lang.vol, as well as all the RGU (registry files) that include your language keys (not all of them!), from the emulator WM6 image.
Sign them using the attached utility (run sign.bat).
Create a cab file that installs the extracted files to \Windows and imports the registry keys, as well as the certificates (cab and xml included in zip).
Check my localization cab, for example. Study the _setup.xml and you will figure out how to do it yourself. ;)
But it is not that easy, because you have to check the compatibility of every MUI file with its "mother" DLL/EXE, using the trial-and-error method.

ok, didn't know :D
French language files from HTC VOX SFR ROM.
Same instruction as in German localisation case. It differs only the country code that you have to add to MUI avaiable list.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI\Available]
"040c"="Français"
HTC VOX SFR ROM has the following languages:
"0410"="Italiano"
"0809"="UK English"
"040c"="Français"
"0409"="US English"
"0c0a"="Español"
"0413"="Nederlands"
"0407"="Deutsch"
If someone need one from this list, tell me

Italian was already posted HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1430766&postcount=15)
It says VOX, but don't be confused, it will work for Tornado.
You may need to edit the registry because adding a new language usually overwrites the registry. I think it's HKLM\software\t9 you need to add English to "available languages" 0410,0409 (that's Italian,English for people who don't read numbers). If you won't be needing English again, don't worry about it.
It would be nice to not need English...

Can you guys in the know how, help us get Arabic XT9 support, i know there arent many of us, but we are part of the xda. family.
If at least you can guide us on what files are needed & maybe even where to look for them so we can make things easier for you.

Gonna tell you what you got to do. Not sure exactly but thorough searching of the forums will give you your answers. I'll point you in the general direction... because I don't know the specifics.
You need to get your hands on an Arabic ROM. It can be WM5. You need to dump the ROM get the library files, the localisation/MUI files and the arabic *.keymap.txt (it likely won't say Arabic in the keymap.txt but the numeric designation for Arabic).
You can install manually, or create a cab installer.
However, it seems that the Arabic localisation is a bit more complex (I did do a search on the last request). So you may need to use a ROM cooking tool like G'Reloc (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=331094) that will let you relocate modules from one ROM to another. And cook your own Arabic ROM.
Goodluck!

Wow! My suggestion is to see if there is a Cambodian site/forums oriented to smartphones.
The only other solution is to extract the localisation files from a WM6 emulator, but I can't find one for Khmer.

It is a STRING value. If you're very confused, make a copy of the language value already available, and then change the name to 0410 and the value to Italiano.
My MUI values look like this on my Chinese/English ROM:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]
"SysLang"=dword:00000409
"Enable"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI\Available]
"0804"="中文(标准)"
"0409"="US English"
So yours should look like this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]
"SysLang"=dword:00000409
"Enable"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI\Available]
"0410"="Italiano"
"0409"="US English"
However, simple insertion of the key will not necessarily allow you to use Italian t9.
You will need to enter more under HKLM T9
e.g. (from my Chinese English ROM)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method]
"Current LDB"="0409"
"Current IME"="0400"
"Default Alpha LDB"="0409"
"Default Chinese LDB"="0804"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\CUDB Editor]
"Search Method"=dword:00000002
"PrePopulated"=dword:00000001
"Parent Window"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\Settings]
"Word List Delay"=dword:00000001
"Traditional Pinyin"=dword:00000000
"Options"=dword:00003317
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\IME]
"0400"="t9aw.dll"
"0500"="t9cstroke.dll"
"0600"="T9CPinyin.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\Accelerator]
"Chinese"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\IME Order]
"0804"="0500,0600"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\LDBs]
"0804"="T9CCSimpLdb.dll"
"0409"="T9EnglChinLdb.dll"
This is predicated upon having also included the t9 files of the language you are localising to.

First off, I must warn, I don't know anything about Polaris. Well I do know, that the Polaris is a PPC. NOT a smartphone, smartphone doesn't support stylus text input. So you need to use a PPC set of language files; like from the Elf or Niki, which are very similar phones.
Secondly, have you gone to Settings > Regional Settings?
It must be enabled (I am sure you're smart enough to know, but it's always best if I don't assume).
2bed What is the extension of the reg file(s) you have? You should be able to import the keys from a registry editor connected to the phone through the PC and activesync with a program like MobileRegistryEditor (http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities/2005/1/Mobile_Registry_Editor.aspx) or CeRegEditor (http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/). Check under File.
Or you can use the regeditor that comes with vjgraces, or Nitrogenious' ROMs (PHM Registry Editor, IRC) or any other (just search) and you have to have the reg file on your phone to import it; probably through Menu.

Yeah, good luck, really. Sorry. You can get Russian T9 at http://melgurth.ovh.org/index.php?page=downloads
But the only other option is to find a smartphone locally, buy it, dump the ROM and then return the phone. Assuming you can even find Lithuanian langage smartphones in Lithuania.
On the other hand, if you follow the links in this thread and read a lot, you could learn to create/cook your own Lithuanian localisation and have a new product for your countrymen (or is that countrypeople now?).

the segoe condensed doesnt have arabic letters ;)
