Apologises if ppl are aware, but just to let you know T-mobile UK have confirmed they are not to release win mob 6 for vario 2.
Although I understand the reasons I find this annoying and shows a lack of support for present and existing devices.

part of the email sent to myself goes onto state...

"T-Mobile UK will be including Windows Mobile 6 on all new MDA devices
that are launched, starting with the MDA Touch in July and MDA Vario III
in September.

The existing devices in the portfolio will continue with Windows Mobile
5 for the remainder of their lives."

I asked T-Mobile in the Netherlands several months ago the seem question, and they said that there will be no ROM upgrade for the Vario II.
If you ask my opinion? I don't care, I like the cooked ROM's found on XDA!
So many benefits of home cooked ROMS(No more annoying t-mobile splash screens, no more pink soft buttons), huge storage, stable...go on go on!

I agree. I like most of the cooked roms here, and my Vario II has found renewed life due to roms like Schaps which is what is currently running on it. T-mobile also don't vale loyal customers that have 4 lines with them as I asked for an Ameo free as an upgrade to only 1 of those lines and they flat out refused me. sad to see they've gotten too big for their pants that they've forgotten who pays their wages by getting loyal multi line rental customers who spend well over £100 a month just in line rental alone not counting the addition services I get. They seem to think they can make up revenue in new subscribers rather then keep loyal ones

Some people don't want to invalidate their warranty by flashing different ROM's.

If HTC, O2 and other networks around the world can release WM6 why can't T-Mobile??? They're taking the p*ss!!

Lets all bombard them with e-mails!! :D

As has already been posted, the ROM thing isn't too relevant unless you're worried about warranty.

What's really annoyed me today is that I'm due an upgrade on my VarioII and, although I'm holding out for a Kaiser, I thought I'd look at the online upgrades. I'm appalled to see that upgrading my phone, compared with taking out a new contract is more expensive. For example, a Nokia 8600 is a £290 upgrade or £170 on a new contract. WTF!!!

Before we continue slagging off T-mobile Uk. I will stand by them when it comes to customer service... no other service provider gives a better service, better tariffs and better phone options. I've the experince of how little orange know of cs... after complaining to them about billing they made excusses and fobbed me off.

The point to the thread is I was disappointed and feel if microsoft had not released any service packs for their OS's then businesses and many private users would merely walk away and buy into another os. We as contract holders are bound by the term of contract. I believe in the uk we are kind of lucky as we have our phone heavily subsides. where as other countries don't. But this doesn't excuse any company of applying the stack the products high and sell them cheap attitude without the assumption that both parties have made a commitment.
