View Full Version : [final] - Wrcx 5.2.1437 - 3 Roms
Whiterat
10th August 2007, 01:59 PM
WRCX Roms (5.2.1437)
Core: 5.2.1437.17944.301
I have ported this rom from the latest dopod hermes rom (More space in Memory Map than Trinity)
The OEMDRIVERS folder has finally been rebased! So no-more random power offs, also I tidied up OEMAPPS
so now everything works perfectly (sim_tkit,etc).
Unfortunately this may quite possibly be my last public rom release (apart from the upcoming kitchen)
due to the high number of "fuckwits" also known as wannabe chefs.
You guys SUCK, and I mean S-U-C-K, You make no attempts to improve the OS you merely want all the
credit for pasting some OEM Packages into the build. LAME - Even lamer are those
who make a kitchen from my kitchen, I mean COMEON you are doing less work than the wannabe chefs!!
I reckon by now everyone has got the gist, I just plead to WM6 users not to donate to wannabe chefs
and put the money into something worthwhile.
ANYWAY...Moving on....
My thanks going out to:
cmonex - My partner in crime
Bepe - Thanks for Xipport, Pkgtool and BuildOS
mamaich - Thanks for imgfs_tools
Today you get 3 Roms from me, Info below.

Great job. Can't wait for the kitchen!
Anyway, some of us did improve the OS a little bit, as much as we know, so there's no need for such heavy words.
Whiterat

I have seen no actual OS improvements in ANY .1437 ROM for the Wizard.
I admit you do put alot of time and effort into your roms compared to others, but even then, credit should be given where due.
Anywho I noticed that CommManager is spacked up in Rom 2&3, Should be:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\7]
@="InternetSharing"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\8]
@="ActiveSync"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\9]
@="Ir"

Whiterat: First of all, I'd like to commend you on the work. I think this is one of the most anticipated ROMS these days...
Open forums and all, but I completely agree with u that one does feel a hell lot frustrated when someone takes ur hard work and bandies it around like his own without even saying anything as much of a simple thanks..
But one more thing, though you have to make the decision urself, but I'd surely be sad if another "real" developer leaves the forum...
Do reconsider it...
And yeah, thnx once again...

Forgot to mention, that statement only really applies to those who take donations :) I just dont like to see profiteering from free work :)
I think you think some of us get more donations than we do. Other than one sizable donation I received (which I'm going to put a chunk of that over to XDA Developers this weekend) most donations are only a few dollars, and what I have received I've used directly to my phone (bought a cheap pair of stereo BT headset so that I can check A2DP out when I build roms. I hardly use them as I have other means of listening to music I prefer). I'm sure not making a mint off of donations.
I think the contributions you have made to the Wizard area have been fantastic and your abilities are very appreciated by me. Your 1437 work is far and above what I do (and I've always admitted I'm not at the level of a Faria or mUn on the internals. IMO You've put yourself in those ranks with your ability to port roms and dig into them).
Thanks for these roms. I'll probably be playing around with them soon (but credit is always given to the base rom developer).
[..edit..]You've made me rethink my sig. I've put a link to the XDA-Dev donation page.

wise words, btw. all of you, especially Whiterat, that's right, there almost no optimisations in current productions imo(since core 1.1?).

Hi,
you are one of the best ones here. please rethink of staying back. your roms rock man.
By the way quick thing how do I activate touchflo in your rom.
MS voice command does not announce incoming calls or calender events though it's enabled, any turn around for this.
Thank you

Hi,
I wanna give this rom a try. It sounds good. I'm now running NBD 8.1 on a G4 phone.
When flashing to Wrcx rom, should i first flash an original rom from t-mobile?
Or can I use shelltool and flash Wrcx rom straight away?
And what is the pagepool on this baby?

Whiterat, thats no problem (no its great the touchflo cube is unnessesary on the wizard) at all, the WRCX 3 is exactly the way i like it is indeed the best of both.

btw, you can make custom roms with anichillus unpackers, then any 1413 kitchen is working fine...imo of coz.
it is slower a bit, than optimised 1413..GUI works faster,though....strange:S...
i love you guys, credit for anichillus...

Firstly, this ROM is by far the tightest and most professional I have so far seen. Kudos to Whiterat. Don't get down about glory stealers, just make sure you tell people your ROMs are where the REAL hard work and improvement is done.
Secondly, I wanted to compare the various versions, so I made a table:

11th August 2007, 09:18 PM
I installed the Wrcx Rom and everything seems ok, stable and fast.
In the Settings-->Connections screen there is a program called NoData with an icon with a "G" in the middle. But it doesn't do anything.
Does every1 got this icon? What is it for?
When I try to start it i get an Program Error, but the error is in Dutch, so maybe it's a remaining from my old rom?

NoData is a small application which allows you to toggle data connections (to stop massive data bills), unfortunately it was poorly coded so when you try to launch it without any data connections on it, it will crash.
Just set some up and try it.

I have installed cyberon voice dialer (ba_wm5_voice_dialer_2.cab) with Wrcx 5.2.1437. I have it working near perfect, the only thing I am missing is getting the bluetooth button to activate sddialer.exe.
When I hit the button on my bluetooth the phone app comes up, how can I switch this to the sddialer.exe?

I see you edited your vulgarity to something more acceptable. Ok, I edited my answer as well.
As for "talk behind other people's back":
- I answered the "version number guy" at least twice directly in the thread where he could read it and at least once he reacted (I wrote to him in much more polite way than some other people around here)
- as for majority of "cooks" here - I do not care if they copy each other and release almost identical ROMs. It is a free land. But I would hate to see the really working people (like WHITERAT) to be driven off because of them. I want to see ROM releases also in future...

Install XDA Cingular WM6 Radio Fix2.cab with this rom and all problems with missed calls go away, also you can use any radio. I'm using 2.61.11 (which has excellant signal strength in my area) with no missed calls or sms. With other roms I had to use 2.19 radio. Great ROM Whiterat!!!!

Whiterat thank you for the excellent rom. I have tried numerous roms that worked with bluetooth headphones but on all of the previous ones the playback skipped pretty frequently for some reason?
I have been listening to music all day and not one problem with the bluetooth no skipping at all.
If your having trouble with your present ROM you may want to try this one.

Been reading and using these forums for quite awhile now. I never post but after using this rom I really felt you needed to hear people do appreciate you.
This is by far the best wm6 rom I have ever used. Its clean, fast, tight, and extremely user friendly with all the apps.
Keep up the confidence and hardwork whiterat. Not everyone out here is stupid enough to believe all these kitchen hookers are working anything more than the streets.

My settings change to vibrate quite often - without doing anything. I can change it to normal mode - and 5 minutes after, it goes back to vibrate - without using the phone meanwhile.
Any solution?

yes this has always been my problem too.. i hate the softkey lag.. i've tried everything to boost performance but still the softkey lag won't go away.. i'm not sure the standards of being fast.. but i consider it slow (even though if it runs and loads fast) if it gets frustrating, waiting for the softkey menu to pop.. it just seems that the phone can't kep up with me..
i've tried 3 brands of wm6 wizard roms and a chunk of NBDs.. although user feedbacks say these roms are super fast, etc.. they all still suffer from the softkey lag/delay.. and i won't risk flashing another ROM that might still have the same problem/annoyance.
anyawy.. my post has no claims against whiterat's ROM.. haven't tried it personally and most says it is super fast.. i just want to know first if the people who use this rom base/rom don't experience softkey lag/delay anymore..
if so.. then i'm convinced.. this is indeed super fast.. and i'll flash it right away, despite the risks..
(i say risk because storms have started barraging our country, and power service is a bit unstable.. making it easier to brick a phone due to power failure)

Please put away all the old 1437 ROM's, neither of them are rebased!
Thus they tend to crash, and have the drivers cropping up 12 Mb's of RAM.
Whiterat's and Cmonex´s new 1437 does have all their drivers rebased, there are no module collisions in this ROM (and this is rare in todays cooked ROMS, very Rare!!)
I had the pleasure to use the rebased drivers before whiterat had released his ROM (thanks again Whiterat!)
So I had a chance to whitness first hand what a difference it made: it truely made a huge difference, not only freeing approx. 12 mb of RAM, the system became much faster and stable, instantly.
For the record: No I'll not release a rom based on 1437, All the packages I use are available to you, and I don't feel it would contribute something to the community (my reTOUCHed ROM was a Proof of Concept for touchflo only!)
About the ROMs available:
If you want real raw power try WRCX1.
If you want the sexy black theme, but don't want to lose much speed, try WRCX3.
If you want the touchflo cube, use WRCX2 (that is the one I am using, and I think it still runs great without overclocking, but with batterystatus it is awesome!).
BTW: If you are worried about power failure: use a laptop to flash, the battery gives you some time to finish the flash (if the battery is still ok)

Hi,
I'm using this rom since it has been released, and everything is still going great. Nice speed and very stable. Not going to change this rom for a long time, can recommend it to everyone. I only made a version with 6 mb pagepool.
Sometimes, when playing a game :), i press a lot of buttons and the "calibrate screen" screen pops up.
I think this has to do with some key combination on the wizard. Does anybody know about this, and how to disable this?
Edit1: It seems to happen when you press the "middle" button and the "mail" at the same time and can't be disabled. See this post:

I believe the 'finger flick' is part of the TouchFlo.
I'd love to have just that without anything else too because I don't
use the TouchFlo (cube) anyways.
But, unfortunately, you have to have it.. for that I think WRCX 2 is the one you want.
I'm using WRCX 3.. and I know it doesn't have it.
I'm sure WRCX 1 doesn't have any Touch stuff..

I always took it that the fact that missing call notification does not work reliably when data connection is active is a problem in all ROMs (I mean that sometimes the call is registered as 1 or 2 seconds call).
Now I read that there are ROMs without the problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323497
...
try to use a version based on 5.2.1413 or a TNT rom.
All other have this issue.
I recommend NBD 7.9 if you want Touch or latest TNT if you dont really need touch
...
Is it really so? Can anybody confirm this? Are there really ROMs not suffering from this? And if yes, can it be fixed in WCRX roms?
I use "WRCX 3" and I am happy with it, but I already saw this issue on it...
I would like to stay with it, but if there are ROMS without the issue, I may be tempted to change.

Whiterat,
Thank you for this great ROM :-) Even though I had to install my favorite programs myself, it wasn't much of a chore, and in the end i have a super-fast ROM. I never did care for the touch interface, so the vanilla rom is a perfect fit. Is the page pool 6 MB? This is giving me better performance than NBD 8.2 with 8 mb.

You misunderstood me... The usuall radio problem discussed around here concerns having missed calls/SMS... I meant something else (data connection active, phone rings, nobody picks it up...). That's a different situation.
Nevermind. I am now trying TNT 4.0 (though I must say that otherwise I liked WRCX 3 a lot more, so if I find that the issue is not fixed on TNT 4, I may switch back).

However, I'm having problem with the midi ringtones cannot be played on the "Phone settings" dialog. WMP does play it well though. Is there anyone having this problem as well?

Couple of things i would like to know:
1) What is the page pool size?
2) Can i make a backup on wrcx 1 and restore it on wrcx 3? I'd like to have the touch stuff but dont want to comprise speed and stability (which i have on wrcx 1). So, in case i like wrcx 3, will i be able to restore my backup from wrcx 1?

just wanted to thank the chef for a great rom(s) installed easily, and everything works nicely very impressed - currently using WRCX2 but might change it to 3 at some point as touchflo / finger scrolling are just too gimmicky really for my liking and just wastes memory now :) plus finger scrolling isnt very responsive and often ends up selecting items instead of scrolling
have noticed quite a major speed increase from wm5 to wm6 which is great

I had two data connection setup
1) tmo's wap.voicestream.com for mms messaging
2) internet2.voicestream.com
You only need one server setting.
Go to start - connections - connections
In there click manage existing connections
use a name you can remember as the name (for example I used T-mobile) then select cellular line (gprs)
Next use wap.voicestream.com
that's it for that.
Now go in your MMS options, create a new server (remove the rest) & use the following
gateway
216.155.165.50
The server address is as follows
(leave the http:// in) 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
choose 300 K file size limit
Then choose connect via (whatever you named the connection)
Hope that helps.

Fixed it after trying to get weather to update by installing HTC.Kaiser.Home.0409.5tab.schen.N"A_WeatherPatced.Cab and when it appeared on screen it only had 3 tabs.(Had changed with customiser before but had done nothing). Still not got weather to update over GPRS.

I have re-built this ROM with some of my own stuff and have hit a problem with VoIP...
It registers OK with my SIP provider but there is no sound when I make a call. When I make GSM calls sound it OK. I have the volume slider all the way and have tried with the 'Speaker On' button pressed (& without). It is not that it is quiet, there is no audio output at all. With the 5.2.318 ROM & VoIP I had audio fine.
I have checked by using a SIP Softphone client on my PC and I get audio OK with this.
Any one else using VoIP and this ROM?

I'm using number 3, Best of Both (BOB) and can't seem to be able to connect to my car stereo (LG LAC-M8600). :)
I activated bluetooth on both, am able to see the car stereo an get the question to enter PIN-code. The M8600 tells me that the PIN-code is 1234 (standard) which I enter en then press next.
I then get a pop-up that says I have a connection problem or incorrect passcode. The pass code is good cause i checked it using a different phone. I can also use connect my 9100 to for instance HP headset with a2dp, so no problems there.

Afraid that isnt going to happen without HTC's help.
The output requires signifact knowledge of the Wizard's sound driver, not just the standard WAVEOUT in the OS.
Microsoft do clearly state this, which is why it is the OEM's responsability to implement it or not.

Dear Whiterat, Thanks for the excellent ROM.
I have used more than 10 WM6 roms since I have start ROM flashing.
WRCX 3 is my favorite now.
I have noticed minor bug on WRCX 3.:D :D
When you are on a call, when 2nd call coming, it will give you beep sound. You can hold 1st call and answer 2nd call. But if 2nd call not answered before it get missed, That call is appears on call history as incoming call (not as a missed call)
If you can fixed this bug, would be great for all WRCX fans.

I noticed this the other day but thought it was something I was doing wrong, however I have been using the phone a lot today and this is definitely an issue and is really annoying. When you make or receive a call and then hang up, when the Today screen appears it still says 'Phone' at the top left of the screen where 'Start' should be and you can't access the start menu. I have just noticed it does this with other applications as well. If you hit the power button twice it sort of comes back some times, but it isn't happy. The screen usually freezes during a refresh from now on and the only way to recover it is a soft-reset.
Anyone else noticed this behaviour?

Hello,
When setting up e-mail accounts how do I tell Messaging to still connect even if roaming. With other ROMs and as seen on the Wing there is a checkbox for each account to disable that will allow messaging to auto-connect to mail server even when roaming. I don't find this in the WRCX #3. I have to manually check my e-mail since I always receive "You are currently roaming. Synchronizing may result in additional charges." dialog whenever checking for mail--sort of defeats purpose of autocheck feature. :)
Can someone tell me how to enable the option to always connect even when roaming? Or how to I get the prompt when creating a messaging account?
BTW, this is the best ROM I have seen and I have loaded them all. It is extremely stable and works as designed.
Thank you.

Hi,
I have an issue with GPRS and WRCX #3. If I stay in same service area GPRS works perfectly. However, if I for instance go to a different market and GPRS was connected in the first market the phone hangs and doesn't ever reconnect in new market. For example, if I am in Centennial area in Kokomo, IN and drive to Indy market which is TMobil, the phone still thinks it is connected but if you try to do anything on the internet it fails. You have to go to comm manager and disconnect phone and reconnect. The Data icon in comm manager is greyed out even though Edge or GPRS icon on status bar is still active. The phone won't redial GPRS connection since (part of it) believes it isn't connected even though it isn't.
Is there any fix for this because it makes using phone outside service area useless unless you do above. Also, before I flashed MDA from WinMobile 5 my service provider was TMobile or Centenntial depending on market I was in. Now it is VStream and Centennial. Does this all have something to do with it?
Anyone else have issue like this and know how to fix?
Thanks.

hi
First, plz give full details of ur Mda,before posting any question,it helps many of us here to determine which wizard u got G3 or G4 ? Plz post here ur following:-
1. IPL......?
2. SPL.....?
3. GSM....?
4. OS ver.?
secondly, after flashing this rom,ur mda still reverts back to ur previous OS wm5,it clearly means that ur MDA is SIM/CID locked.
Plz try to understand, that,in order to upgrade to any wm6 Roms,u got have ur MDA SIM/CID unlocked,Now there is a different method to upgrade a G3 and a G4 device, It can only be unlocked and determined by ur MDA's IPL/SPL.
As I presume ur still a noobie in this fielg, therefore,I'll advise u to plz go through the guides posted at the following thread to understand the method fully, only than try to upgrade, otherwise, there definite chances, that u'll 'BRICK' ur wizard

This fixed it for me:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN]
@="WLANSettings.exe"
I extracted the ROM and rebuilt it and added the above to a .rgu file, the '@' represents the default value, if you are adding via a registry editor make sure you add it add a string (REG_SZ).

ahh... i have used the rom for 3 days... along with other roms... like the TNT , the WM5 htc flow... and 2 others... all for 3 days each...
i come to the conclusion that i like this one the best... and i have the best of both worlds version... i like it because its so stable... everything is smooth... no freeze ups... the transition from open slide to close slide is nice and smooth each and everything... something which drove me nuts on the other versions...
anyways.. .i did find some stuff i didnt like... if you guys can help me.. it would be greatly appreciated... and i wont be changing roms for a while..
----
1. the clock seems to reset or set itself wrong... once in a while... not sure when... is it because i restarted the device or taken out the battery.... its just something that i notice.... any ideas or fix?
2. is there a way to disable sending out blank text messeges?... while im doing some heavy texting... *texting more than 3 people* the notifications bubble comes up saying that i recieved one... while i am in the middle of writing another one... by the time i try to hit "dismiss" i hit send instead *on the text i was writing... i hope you guys can understand what im trying to say... and if the messege was empty... it sends an empty text to the recipiant.
3. the batterystatus plugin... has some bugs... once in a while.... it refuses to open up the app when i click on it .. when i want to change settings or something... its like it froze in the background... i have to restart the phone to fix... is there a way to end the process that might be running in the background?... like on computers... with alt ctrl del. and the end process function.
4. can i turn the notifications off?.... its annoying. period. or atleast for the messege recieved and messege sent portion of it... i dont mind the wifi found part.
5. how can i update my Live messenger with the new version that doesnt require contact merge with phone book?
6. the alarm clock sucks... this is just a personal thing... but whats up with the almost 10 second pause inbetween rings?... im never gonna wake up to that.... its not even that loud.... this isnt whiterats fault though... he didnt make the alarm clock... its part of WM i think.
7. something seems to be wrong with the WIFI.... i activate it through comm manager... it turns on... after like 3-4 seconds... it turns back off...

Hi!
I installed TouchFlo version but I cant' get the cube. I need to activate it in some menu? I think the movement to activate it is, in today screen, swipe a finger from bottom to top, isn't?
Thanks.

Hi.. im new here... and i have no idea on what im doing wrong...
i have downloaded the "best of both worlds" version... and followed all instructions... and waited for it to install and everything... it even said its going to update to "6:666666"
at the end... after all the initializing and everything.. i still get the same Windows 5.0 the one that was already in it...
i have a T Mobile MDA.... not sure if there was an prepping or prerequisites for making this work right.
Don't know if you got it sussed yet but I did it using SoftSPL and it worked a treat on my CID locked o2 XDA mini s using WRCX2. I tried to do it like you and when it completed without error found the same. I'm now trawling for the minor fixes and apps that are absent that I am missing (better cam, reg editor, basic GPS software, voice commander).
On the whole nice ROM and I love the cube although I have to admit it is a bit useless. It also opens the comm manager, program menu, settings menu and contacts all with the push of the second icon from the right on the phone screen of the cube.
Have had a few occasions where the wifi hasn't reconnected after stand by, sometimes can't even find the network sometimes.

Any chance you will be releasing the last two ROM's you have listed in your signature then? You mentioned L2TP/IPSec has been re-written and also hinted that VoIP worked? These are the two components I most want and I have had to revert to the original 5.2.318 ROM to get them working.....

Is the drop-list in the top right corner of the Today screen a registry tweak or a program? If it's a program, what is it called?

Thanks but your ROM shows G even for EDGE networks !!! Its supposed to be the latest ROM, u missed on this (isn't it)
Maybe this helps:
• Disables different GPRS/EDGE indicator icon
If your network provider supports the Edge network (and your device does as well), you can use the following to show a little 'E' icon instead of 'G' icon when connected to an Edge network:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableDifferGprsEdgeIcon = 1 (DWORD decimal)
To disable again:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableDifferGprsEdgeIcon = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Note that your device -and- your network operator need to support Edge, otherwise you won't see it. Also note that if you connect to GPRS, you will still see the 'G' icon.

Whiterat, it's cool. Many of us here know the true 1437 base came from you. I personally appreciate all the hardwork. Once the kitchen comes out [drool...] gotta have the cube in my rom.

I just installed this ROM today, everything looks great...
I however have an issue with it not notifying me of missed calls. I know there is an issue with some that wont even ring, however my phone rings, but if I dont pickup the call, it does not notify me of the missed call, reaher it logs it as a received call.
What can I do to fix this?
Thanks for the great work...

hello....i cant seem to find the Wrcx Kitchen
It never happened..... :(
I managed to dump the ROM and create my own kitchen from it using the HyperCore kitchen. It took a fair bit of playing around but it wasn't impossible. Don't ask me to share as this is WhiteRat's original work. Dump the ROM yourself and create your own kitchen.

I noticed a bug with CommManager. The menu item "Wireless LAN" does not work in settings.
-you should modify HKLM/Software/WLAN default key to :\Windows\WLANSettings.exe

Have to tell, still the best ROM in the market but not perfect since wlan cannot be configured from CommManager, there is no option in the phone app to set time auto-update, Sprite Bckup is buggy and should include Core Player, the best DIVX/XVID player.

Anyone has this problem? I have WRCX3 and after a few months of running, it freezes on the 3rd screen boot up. It happened to my sis's 8125 and now it happened to me.
Is there any setting I need to disable to resolve this problem? BatteryStatus maybe? Thanks..
updated: After a few reflashs, I finally pinpoint the problem for WRCX3. Whenever I run the "Network Wizard", the device freeze on the 3rd screen bootup after a few reboots. Can someone confirm my finding?

I download the wrcx3 rom and upgrade my wizard (T-Mobile NL, G4 with CID lucked, current version 2.21.*). The upgrade goes smooth, but after reboot I found the OS is still old one. I tried several times and always got same situation. Can someone here show me some hints and I really appreciate it :P
