we all know there is NO Official WM6 ROM for HTC Universal... but ... developing is not stop ... we try... try and try
to make our Device is up2date...

indra's UNI WM6 XOJ Version(WWE)
My ROM basic is Midget_1990 ROM... and I try to make the video call work... (ofcourse with Leo help)

what is inside my ROM:

- this is Vanilla ROM I only put Oxios CloseApps on it
- Start Clean
- Change Bootspalsh Screen to XOJ logo
- disable reveive all incoming beams (thx Leo)
- disable error reporting
- video call work 2 way (must set to standart video mode ) after 2 ringing just klik answer
- manage refreshing memmory timing

I wouldn't normally ask, but I only just flashed at the weekend and installed everything again, is the WPA WiFi issue fixed in this build?

Videocall I couldn't care less about, but memory issues and WiFi WPA forced me back to WM5 AKU 3.5, which runs quite well to be honest.

why are there too few details regarding this ROM? are these the only ones fixed? i hope somebody will be able to give light on this new ROM and hopefully compare it with the other WM6 ROMS regarding performance, stability and features (if any). right now, im good with my ROM. am using laurentius V7 but lately the inability to call the last called number is getting to annoy me... hehe! i hate to have to click call history first before being able to redial...

EDIT: Unfortunately, it's not working for me. It behaves pretty much like L26 V7 ROM on me.. actually even worse.. since sometimes even outgoing VC isn't working. Incoming VC completely not working, just blinking lights. But I don't know if radio version or network provider plays a role on this.
I'm currently using 1.18 and under Smart Telecoms in the Philippines.

However I observe 2 issues

1) Oxios CloseApps leads to corruption of the Windows media player (old issue with playing the music just few second)
2) if I disable/able some today screen plug_in's. the today screen doesn't refresh until a soft reset.

does anyone else observe above issues.

You need to use the utility "UpgradeUt_noID.exe" it is replacement file for the "ROMUpgradeUt.exe" and it will not give you the country error. I have attached file for you.
Copy it to your ROM folder in which is the "nk.nbf" then double click on it

thats Strange! Have you read the WIKI before and Follow the correct processes of flashing ROM? Anyhow after flashing the ROM you have to make hardreset:
push the both soft/hardware buttons and push reset with your stylus. then it will give you option in which you will push the "0"

Put ROM file and Radio file in same folder as your WM6_UpgradeUt_noID.exe and reflash again. it will upgrade your ROM and Radio.

If you dont have the radio file you can get it from the ftp side.

one more think please check what bootloader version you have. you can see it on the serial screen right bottom side. Make sure you have min. V1.0

Before using Oxios CloseApps, let the media player play a song, so while the song is still playing, run CloseApps. No few second problem.

Or you can use Oxios Hibernate, it does the same without the media player problem.

No need to soft reset, just open any Apps and close, the today screen is refreshed.

Lidan25. would you please explain what you understand under "serial thing"

after flashing the ROM you DO hardreset the Device right? then I DONT REALLY understand why you still in the Bootlaoder screen (gray Screen which show serial or USB)

For my experience it is impossible to get again to the bootloader screen if the hardreset was successful.

In Indras ROM folder there is Readme.doc file which show clearly how to Flash a ROM and Hardreset it. It is even with PICTURES so please have look on that

With your new device It seams you are busy with "GREEN TEE's" in the new Flame forum ;0)

Regarding My issues: Yes I install immediately the Oxois Hibernate.
Today Screen refresh only after softreset( did not help anything else) was caused by the Pocket Breeze.(fixed)

And also EVERYONE ELSE that has worked for making our Universals better.
It seems until now pretty stable (only once I needed to reset due to cpu issues), couldn't exit an application the wheel was rotating for 5 minutes until I decided to reset it.
One bug for me that I also found in some other WM6 roms.
When I try to start the GPRS from the com manager the button can not be pressed.
Only if I'm connected to the internet via Explorer only then I can press the Data button for closing the session.

hey there.. wpa psk works fine for me on wm6.. just turn it on and off once and the second time it connects. (in connection manager).

may not be a big deal but just wanted to say that UI Tweaker shows a different result when using the option black bars on this rom. instead of displaying a 3d black gradient bar (which shows when using laurentius v7 rom), it shows a plain black background like in wm5. not that of a big deal though. just wanted to share info...

other findings:


video call out works but is still trying to find out how for video call in...

good speed even with wisbar advance and wisbar desktop installed...

OZvga works ok on this ROM

when installing SQL applications such as Txtr... OS hangs and has to be reset.... (may be due to the software itself and not ROM specific)

sometimes when an sms message comes in (happened only twice)... the vibration did not stop until after reset.

will post under findings when encountered :)

I second that. I had couple times a day in which device freeze (continues vibration) Beside Memory Runs in Single day down until only 4mg but doesnt seams cause major issues.

Phone seams very responsive. Usually I experience by other ROM's a delay by making and answering calls after pushing the green or red button. By this ROM is completely different. Pushing green or red phone button gives immediately response.

However freezing device by incoming SMS is big issue for me as I get daily 50-100

program memory available after install is around 25-26mb (speed is commendable especially when answering phone and disconnecting phone..)

not too sure with storage memory but i think its around 35mb
..but im pretty sure its small because its a vanilla rom

So I installed, get error 120 (Country ID). "Stuck on bootloader"
Solved: Running upgrade process through MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe (tooked from JWright 2.02.02). Everyting fine.
Overall, the best ROM I tryed until now. Impressed about speed (program memmory after install is 26 MB)
One problem to report: WPA-PSK with TKIP do not work

It seems to work like Leos 7.1 ROM. We have to answer after ring twice for VC out.
VC in it simply just don't ring at all! It just blinks the red led but without ringing.

3 years and just now that i decided to be active... lol

just wanted to share again something i experienced with this rom...

when using a a bluetooth stereo headset (motorola ht820), text messages take a long time to come in.... the device will turn on... then after approximately 1-2 minutes the message will come in... (what's weird is that sometimes the message tone cannot be heard at all... just a pause in the music streaming and then the message will come in with no sign at all unless you look at the device screen..

what's worse is that sometimes the text message will not come in at all.... the device will stop streaming the music, when it detects an incoming text but will not show the message at all (i tried sending a text message using my friend's phone to check if i will receive it).

i reset the phone but still experiencing it.... is anyone else experiencing this?
or is this specific to the configuration of my device? i have wisbar advance, wisbar desktop, coreplayer, sktools installed.

unfortunately it I have the same result I had with other cabs.
It works too slow and when the SIM code is inserted it simply freezes. Quite strange! Probably it's a compatibility problem with an installed app... :(

unfortunately it I have the same result I had with other cabs.
It works too slow and when the SIM code is inserted it simply freezes. Quite strange! Probably it's a compatibility problem with an installed app... :(

If someone has an FTP site and can send me a link in a PM, I will gladly upload it for others to review and share. It has been an excellent upgrade from WM5 and has had no noticable problems here in the US. Of course, we don't do video calls here so I can not comment on how that or the UMTS 2100 is working. (I have not taken this phone to Europe since the WM6 upgrade.)

You need to use the utility "UpgradeUt_noID.exe" it is replacement file for the "ROMUpgradeUt.exe" and it will not give you the country error. I have attached file for you.
Copy it to your ROM folder in which is the "nk.nbf" then double click on it

I wonder if there is a more "family friendly" version (no risque pictures of women) of that utility as I do most of my phone hacking work on the living room computer.

I have Jwrightmcps' 2.02.02 ROM installed, but the one tailored for the Xda Exec machine. My device shows its ROM build as 15341.0.0.0, while your signature shows 15431.0.0.0. To be confirmed by other Qtek 9000 users, but I think it might either be a typographical error by you, or you definately have a different ROM.
Just my 2 cents...

So, it seems that your ROM is not official, after all. It has always been Jwrightmcps'! As you've said it came along with your device, I hope the seller you've bought it from had his authorization, in the first place....

Great ROM. I especially like the fact that it is a vanilla flavour, which allows me to install my favourite applications without any fuss. If only there was a way to get rid of the blue keypad in favour of the black glass effect ones from the older build, like in Jwrightmcps's build.

I suggest you to reflash again with same rome. I had also many problems by the first flash, Then I decided to reflash again. Many of the issues are gone. However I still have the problem of freezing device after/during receiving SMS.

The phone part (response time) of this ROM is the Best amount all the ROMS that I had.

I think maybe something in your software, try without any software install. my uni need restart at least one a day before I uninstall spb pocket plus (and it the same with 2 others ROM)
video call button (hardware?) is not in registry, I don't know much about it, but I try to change a little thing in registry and at least I can use this button as hot button :D

i just install cestar for wm6,battery status only.the video call button not the hardware is software button.i keep tick and tick also no response.my 3G signal is ON it in U.

i've tried to change the background of comm manager editing the files CommManagerRes_192.dll and CommManagerRes.dll and replacing the 2 resources of BG with the 2 resized bmp in \windows
i've replaced the 2 files but the commmgr dont load....

hi all. i tried this ROM but i think (and this is a personal opinion) but there is a momery leak. i had to soft reset at least twice a day beacuse the memory was too low when no other apps were running in the background it went down to 5bm (used sktool to see what apps were running) i even got a message it said that the memory was too low to run the application so i went back to the darkforce ROM but one thing that i really liked about this ROM was the closing app (next to the clock) but i dont know what app it is or if its built into the ROM if anyone knows what it is i would appreciate it. (i know it is not the oxios close app since i already downloaded and it does close som apps but it just free some RAM by closing all the apps)

the "application" next to the clock is HTC Task Manager, I am sure you find it some where here in the forum.

The Memory leak can be caused by the 3 party application. example if you enabled some application on the todays screen (battery, Spb diary, pocket breeze, wisbar etc)

Furthermore if you dont use video calling, you could disable the 3D dial pad to get more memory

i think the file i've changed (.DLL) loose or change digital signature and WM6 don't recognize it

it's possible to change Digital Signature or create a personal digital signature for WM6?

This rom is really good with a few tweaks, best of the wm6 roms available.

Only small problem I have with this rom, is the bluetooth signal with this rom for some reason is really low compared others, and can't stream music to my bluetooth wireless headset

I not sure it can solve that, have you try remove your gsm card dan clean the surface? have you try hard reset? trying re install? or the last (but once again Im not sure) try another rom?

before I use this rom, everytime i charge my uni I should reset it everytime the led turn green (I use 3200 mAh battery).

"Uni still freezes on incoming calls.
My uni still crashes on incoming calls. It remains frozen on vibration when I receve a very short call from someone...very short means that my phone rings once to the person who in calling me before he hangs up and I don't get to ancer. Make a test: make a short phone call to the uni and hang up when the phone starts to ring. (the uni will not ring at the same time as the caller's headset but will have a short delay of 2-3 seconds)
If the other person hangs up before the uni starts ringing, the uni will crash.
Note that the Uni has to be in stand-by and with the lid closed.
Hapends even if I remove the vibration and I noticed that the signal indicator still works. I wonder if this in hapends in WM05...
Leo, please investigate this, I hope i gave you enought informatoins for you to replicate the crash.
This hapend on your previous rom and on INDRA's rom and was reported by sevaral users.

Now about bad things.
- Reminders (Appointments) do not ring in a half of cases (this is current stage of my research (: )
- Comm Manager locks up the whole system on closing when "Paragon HW keyboard driver" is installed (I understand that this is more likely Paragon's problem);
- Comm Manager is older than in other ROMs;
- Outlook does not understand hotkeys (3 mark as read, 7 delete, and so on);
- Wi-Fi does not support WPA-PSK encryption (only WEP);

All these problems are not of a big importance, except for reminders!
I do not want to miss reminder, please help!

One more bug:

I installed acbPowerMeter (program that shows current power consumption).

In normal mode it shows normal 180 mA, but then I close the communicator (screen goes off), wait a minute and look consumption in "closed state".

Instead of usual 38-40 ma, we have 650 mA!
(Wi-Fi Off, Bluetooth Off, and Screen Off, Incoming beams Off too)
