question: my usb connector came off the board. i have an ancient qtek 9100 rom installed (probably the originally shipped rom), but i do want to update. is it possible to do a sd card rom update? i can't find any thread about it, but i know that the mdaC3 is able to do a nbh rom update in bootloader. is something similar possible for the qtek 9100 (if so, a short how to is appreciated).

The SD only allows flashing if phone is CID unlocked and if image has the phone's values; and even then it's a VERY DANGEROUS procedure that can make a phone non-functional!!

My case:
Last time i messed around with it (two weeks ago) i had an image from my own phone backed up that have been used to easily restore the OS and all other parts. It started fine with the formatting but when it reached the writing part an error popped up (can't recall what, if checksum or other ). I thought: "Ok, lets do it via RUU." (in Portuguese, of course :D)
So i rebooted the phone and the screen became all white and flashing  . Luckily the bootloader was still accessible and the RUU saved my day.

Your post scared me.
Btw, are you saying that you are using a Ghost-like software to backup your OS into the SD card? and then "Ghost" the image back using the same software? Can you tell me or PM me which software are you using? I want to try it :)

It's the bootloader itself that does it :D
Phone must be CID unlocked and a SD card with, at least 128 MB. Enter bootloader, start mtty (wcescomm.exe already killed) and type 'r2sd all'

that's it ;)

Thanks mate.

Sadly, I am using a CID Locked Wizzard. Can you send the mtty to me please?
I can only find the 1.0 version for it. Cheers

PS:
Have you answered your signature's question?

The big question is:

Do you have a secondary Wizard to flash from.
I found that the 3.08 IPL did not want to accept the r2sd all command.
So keep it safe on 2.x devices.

And in your case i wouldn't even go into the r2sd all command as you don't want to go touching your IPL SPL or Radio in G4 devices.

But i think if you keep searching you will probaply find the command for only fllashing the OS. Methinks at least.

But still do you have a second device?

Someone told me that I could use the Mtty to check whether my G4 is unlocked or not.

But I still can't find the lastest Mtty.

Btw, the Mtty you gave is the one I tried. It is VERSION 1.0

You can use WST to check if your Wizard is CID unlocked
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295038

However, if you didn't pay for imei-check.co.uk and your G4 Wizard is not a second-hand, they it is 99.9% a locked one because there is no known free method to unlock a G4 Wizard.
