Hi there,
I've just posted an article on my blog (http://www.maxasia.net) about Alternative Input Methods for Windows Mobile (http://www.maxasia.net/2007/08/13/alternative-text-inputs-for-windows-mobile/).
This is no spam, and might be useful for first comers. Actually, I would have loved to see this post somewhere before (with captures and links), instead of having "search for xxxx" or "it's on the forum" as an answer.
I hope it will help someone to choose a decent Input Method!
The list consists of:
- PocketCM Keyboard
- HTC PhonePad
- Happy Tapping Keyboard
- Fingertouch by Teksoft
- SPB Full Screen Keyboard
- TenGO and TenGO Thumb

Great post, but you may want to update it to include the much improved PocketCM KB .7 that was released a few days ago.

Hi Max,
great idea to create a thread that compares some input methods!
My favourite is pocketcm keyboard for fast writing of mails, sms etc.
Thanks!

@petervbeck: Thanks for your messages too, I'm glad you like the post! My favorite is still HTC PhonePad, but it's true that Pocket CM Keyboard is nice and fun to use.

Could someone post the cab files for these input apps.? Too many to search for. I myself is particularly interested in the PCM keyboard update.
Thx!

just get it direct from his site!....

Always the latest version...besides... the developer of pocketcm has requested that people don't re-host these apps, as of course he is entitled to as it's his work :)

Could someone please explain the differences of the input methods? I don't know some of them
A screenshot of the interfaces would also be helpful

Here's the Fingertouch CAB. Copy to device, and start it with a tap from File Explorer. Then check out keyboard's fifth layout.
If needed, the manual is available online on the developer's website.

Just a few screenshots with Fingertouch. It comes with 5 different layouts that provide different input characteristics:

Hey guys,
there is another free (fullscreen) keyboard, it's not listed here until now:
See this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333772) or the developers-homepage here (http://www.pdamedia.biz/free-pocketpc-software.html)

Hey please include a review for Cootek Touchpal, for me it is the best input method yet. I have used all others too.

Me too find the Cootek TouchPal the best so far. In the past I have used SPB Full screen keyboard, PCM, HTC PhonePad but nothing beats the TouchPal.

Hi Guys,
I've just got a newsletter with a link to an interesting keyboard.
There are two version there, looking very similar, one's free, and the other is the PRO version and seems to do more. The link was:
http://www.fingertouchpro.com/
The guy in the video seems to type really fast with it, I was thinking that it would run well on my Axim's large screen. I'll let you know my first impressions after I install it.
Cheers!

I've been using first a Wizard, then a Hermes for about two years now. I must have tried 20 different onscreen input methods, and yet the one I keep going back to is block recogniser, which is in every rom. Am I alone in this?

I'm also happy with the overall functionality. So I can recommended it!
