Hey dudes,
I know this has probably been adressed a million times in other threads but I’m boggled by everything. I know nothing much about flashing and need some kind soul to take me under their wing and explain very basically how you go about flashing an HTC that only give you the white screen of death when you try and turn it on.
Here’s a description of whats gone wrong:

I have a HTC P4350. After installing a program too many from the internet it stopped turning on. Every time I try and turn it on I get the white screen of death and then nothing else. I now have a useless brick instead of a much needed device that allows me to translate the crazy world of Russian language on the move.

As I bought it in France but am now living in Russia, I can't get it prepared so think I need to flash it. I e-mailed Cordon Electronics in France, who apparently are responsible for repair of these devices, and they told me it’s only possible to do anything in their repair shops in France. That is surely bollocks and I can’t wait the weeks that that would take.

Questions:

- Where can I get a rom that fits my device? I see mention of WMs and RUUs without knowing whatthat really means. All I can say is that it is an HTC p4350 that I bought in France in May from FNAC.

- How exactly do I use a ROM to flash my knackered device? Do I need a special cable or software?

- Is it possible to use an English ROM in my French device or do I HAVE to get a French ROM? (I'd prefer an English ROM)

-I'm desperately struggling without my device so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Paul :)

Well if it is just a software issue you might be able to Hard Reset the device. Basically this reformats the device and reloads the current ROM on your phone. You will loose all data on the device though. Any route you go at this point you will probably have to deal with data loss. Instructions for a hard reset are in the Wiki.

You beauty!
I just followed you instructions and that worked fine. I didn't realise it could be so easy. There was a tough moment when I didn't know what "soft buttons" meant but I battled through and made it through the three lines of instructions ;) .

You can pat yourself on the back for doing your good Samaritan job of the day and helping out a helpless newbie. You have no idea how hard it was trying to explain the word verruca to a Russian pharmacist without the Russian dictionary I have on my HTC.

Thanks a lot,

Paul :)
