Speed to browse folder why different?

Gentlements...
Why does the different ROM (PDA, Gullum, etc.) has the different speed to browse the folder (Windows/ SD Card and etc.) in file manager ?
Some ROM is very fast (3 sec.) but some is very Slow (> 5 sec.???)

So, How I can increase this speed? Can we mod the Windows registry, for increasing the speed?

The system caches the file list when you first open the directory. You'll notice the Windows directory is fairly slow to open because there's a lot of file names to load.

Opening folders with large numbers of files on the SD card is even slower as the interface to SD memory is slower than that of the main system.

One thing to consider... if you have a speed sensitive program, install to main memory and it will launch more quickly.

If you're using an app like GSFinder, you can also tell it not to load icons, which significantly speeds up browsing \Windows\ folders etc
