Could you check the file attributes of your \Windows\A0.BRN file for me? Is it: read only? System attribute? I could try removing these attributes from within Touch Settings before overwriting; this is what I had to do to get it to automatically patch mediahumini.exe on older devices.

What made it work was killing the Biotouch.exe and mediahubmini.exe processes via MemMaid, then it was smooth sailing. Quick question, are you planning to support animating the 4-sided cubes that are floating around out there? It doesn't matter if you're not, I'm already halfway there. Thanks!!!

Sprint Touch..... I tried killing mediahubmini.exe and biotouch.exe and still get the ERROR, so are you saying you got the animation app to generate the files and place them in windows??

Carlos the touch .brn files are set to READ ONLY, When I added files I had to use Resco to overwrite the protected files, is it possible to implement that into the program or even have an option to output animation files elsewhere so they can be manually added to the windows directory?

Great program, I look forward to any testing you may want to try on our Sprint versions.

What made it work was killing the Biotouch.exe

Guys please find attached a new build [REMOVED - SEE POST #269 FOR NEWER VERSION] that kills the Biotouch processes and removes the Readonly/System flags before attempting to write the files.

Let me know if it works.

Um... ...yeah, sorry about that <blush> ran out of time, will be done over the next few days! As a workaround, generate the '2D slide' animation first and you'll get your correct up/down icons sliding in and out, albeit not in 3D.

I'd go with v1.29e if you want a stable tested version or 2.12pre if you want to test the pre-release that lets you generate your own animation files.

Interesting result today with 2.12... quickdial worked when I reset device but the minute I synced with my outlook contacts and added names into my dialer the Touch Setting App started throwing errors ... Null Reference Exception at TouchSettings.BmReader.AssembleQDialBitmap()... Top three images are now blank and switching to the animation page kills the app

Any luck getting this to work abeery? I'll have a look soon I hope!.

Hey... will it be at all possible to have the cube work in landscape mode at all? Does anyone know if this is in the works. I actually had it set up on my phone that touch commander was installed as well and it worked in landscape mode. Meanwhile when I would slide my finger up on the screen in portrait the default cube would still come up. It was pretty neat but I never went ahead and purchased the ap after the as I figured maybe there was some modifications under way to get the default touchflo ap to work in portrait too.

You have asked the same question now about five times, so I'm going to answer it as clearly as I possibly can, hopefully to make it obvious to you, and so that you stop asking!

Here is how it would work.

1. You copy the new icons over to your phone, into \Windows\ (BRN or PNG depending on your device)
2. In 'Touch Settings', you change the icons on your APLauncher to be your new icons, e.g. \Windows\AL_NewIcon.BRN
3. In 'Touch Settings', you go to the 'Animation' tab and click 'Activate'.
4. The program automatically updates your cube spinning animation so that it includes your new icons.

.....done! Finished! No more to say! Has this cleared it up for you?

Carlos... Sprint Vogue continued problems... I again did a hard reset to restore registry... installed 2.13... worked fine to change icon.... animation refused to work because of a file permissions error... I suspect you cannot change the ROM permissions and will need to create new bitmaps... perhaps allow us to specify a storage location so those of us with storage cards (Sprints phones come with 512MB MicroSDs) can locate images there.

Problem 2... as soon as I add a single contact to quickdialer the app breaks... see log I sent you earlier

Hi folks

Here's a new build designed to fix the FileAccess issues, the QuickDial contacts issues and also with the missing animation frames in place. (this is a work in progress, the up/down frames aren't correct & i've run out of time today.)

As we've discussed, it now creates new animation files rather than attempting to overwrite the existing ones, so there is an additional disk space overhead, but hopefully less errors. Please ensure that you have enough Storage space free on the device!

I'd be interested to see what happens if Vogue owners try to create a custom animation twice in a row; do you get a FileAccess exception?

Please see if it works for you and feed back!

PS: The custom animation files are called \Windows\A0_TS.BRN and so on. You'll need to delete them manually if you uninstall.

In the wishlist column it would be nice if we could change the MediaHub (three large) bitmaps and it would be nice if we could tell the app where to store the animations rather than dropping in windows directory... I would like to be able to specify the Storage Card... again just a wishlist... thanks for all your great work!

2.14 does work, but it seems to "alter" the cube a bit. The gridlines and quickdial pictures are slightly smaller DURING the animation and then it seems to settle on the correct size. A minor bug. If this is adjusted and the "up/down" then I think it is finished for the Sprint Version at least.

Like he said activating twise doesn't seem to bother it. Also switching between 2d and 3D. You are getting very very close. Enjoy the beer!

Thanks for your post, yes I have added it to the features suggestion list. At the moment though, my time is taken up getting the animations and icon bitmaps perfect. You may want to search the forums for a separate thread about changing the clock format, I seem to remember some discussion about it somewhere else.

I've released a newer build (2.14a pre) back in the post above, which should fix the up/down issue! (plus the quickdial screen buttons are now enabled, so you can clear your entire quickdial screen in 1 click. I like this because it's something you can't do with the HTC apps)

Just installed 2.14apre and it works great! Thanks. I'm working on making about 100 new icons for the cube since we can now modify it so easily. So far theres only 3 there (TOMTOM, Navigon and MSN Messenger) but in the next few days I'll be posting all my work. Great work Carlosp!!

2.14a works with the up/down. Still all the gridlines on any side of the cube and the quickdial pictures are "off" , but only DURING the transition. It looks great though within about half a second after the animation.

Hey Carlos,

I just got to making some mediahub icons earlier today and was able to change them with 2.14apre. Looks great. I now have Tomtom and Navigon on my media hub and put the video and picture icons over on the aplauncher. That said, I'm not sure if you are aware of this but you are missing 3 options for the media hub icons in the advanced tab.

When you play music and open the cube you have the ablility to change the music and see the status in the cube, thus the actual icons become smaller as you have a little media player that shows up in the top icon (given) I was able to make 3 smaller icons for the mediahub for this feature but no way to load them in with your program. Do you think this feature will be added on soon as well.. or at least put on your long list of stuff to include! :P

I dont usually use my cube that much while I am playing music nor would I need to open one of the GPS programs but it would still be nice to have the cube completly finished!

Also, I'm not sure if you had answered this already but is there anyway to load in different effects like that barrel transition made in the customization thread? Or is there a feature there I'm not able to figure out to load in the new transitions?

pls see post #1 and 2 in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351142). i've tried to dump out my findings. if anything still missing to facilitate development of 3/4-side switching feature, pls feel free to let me know. well, in terms of 3/4-side switching, seems Vogue and Nike are using the same way, while Vogue doesn't have the troublesome {ColorSkin} and fixed .brn path issues.

To save any changes you've made to QuickDials from 2.14a pre onwards you always need to choose 'Save Settings' from the SoftMenu otherwise any changes (except animations) will be lost.

Well that's it from me until the New Year now, got work all week and then a christmas break, so thanks for all your beta testing help.

Here's a new build to last you til 31/12 - it has the MediaHubMini Playing Icons (normal/pressed) in advanced settings, although in the next build I'll be making the MediaHub screen more like the App Launcher screen, i.e. you can tap the icons to change them, etc.

Features that may appear over the next few builds:

- Upgrade to the AP Launcher screen so that you can drag the icons around to change their positions. (snap to defaults)
- New MediaHubMini tab, with icons etc. (see above)
- Add more than 6 apps to the APLauncher (if supported)
- 4th side of cube supported. (Vogue/Nike only)
- Support for Nike Action Screen
- Support to change speed of cube (Vogue/Nike only)
- Integrated Icon Library / Skins - plus, choose icons and download from online library.
- Import BMP files
- More animations.
- Bug tweaks, e.g. fine tuning of placement of gridlines, QuickDial contacts etc.

I tried everything you said,1. DELETE the file MediaHubMini.lnk from your \Windows\Startup directory and reboot... OR just terminate the process MediaHubMini.exe using memmaid, SKTools or another program.

If you are not aware, the beta tool is time limited to the 31/12. You may have to revert to the last full release before this beta if carlos has not come back with a new release by then.

The cab doesnt work for me either. I havent tried the manual install though.

Memmaid doesn't show mediaminihub in the process list on my sprint touch. The file is also restricted to not be deleted/cut/renamed.
I haven't tried manual install because it doesn't look like there's one for the sprint touch beta cab.

Up at the top of the page for the last tab is a pull-down. It defaults to 'Running Programs', you need to pull it down to 'Running Processes' and you'll find the 'MediaHubMini.exe' on your Sprint Touch.

At this moment the program works great except for 1 thing, I can not change the music player anymore (did on previous version, but then the animations did not work)

I killed mediahub.exe / biotouch.exe / AP launcher. I can change the names, but the program that starts when I hit music can not be changed.

Never tried that, TT has its own icons when I put it in the starter tab.

Hi just got my Touch cruise aka Orbit2 and tried "touch Settings".
The program can be installed and works up to some limitations.
When started it states "cannot read existing Quickdial Contacts" could be because i have none yet.
What I cannot access either is the second app launcher page containing the calculator, the calendar, Comm, MMS. The Touch cruise is detected as "sprint"

I had the same issue while running a cube clone, and after tweaking for a bit, I realized that it wasn't a Touch Settings issue. So I changed to a different cube, the one by Leo2016, and everything works perfect now. Hope this helps.

surely it's possible to change APLauncher to 3x4 on Vogue (Sprint Touch) and Nike (Touch Dual), but i'm not sure about the Elf version. see this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351142) for details on how to manually edit registry to do this.

As you may know the Touch Dual activates the so called Action Screen if you open the slider. The relevant settings can be found in registry key

Not a big help but if you put your date of your Elf before 30-12 the program works again. It is not ideal, but you can put your settings back. At least it worked for me.

Other then that we can hope there will be a new version soon.

I am still not able to change to an other audio device then the default HTC audiomanager / player. Even if I set it to Mediaplayer it will only start the HTC (and with that one you need to add each song seperatly into your playlists). Linking to a selfmade shortcut does also not work....

Thanks for the feature suggestions re: Action Screen, and I've noted down the comments about the Media Player.

I'll be back soon-ish with a new beta for you, the good news is that I've managed to get 4-sided cubes working on the original Touch (Elf) too, so hopefully I can build this into the program.

Also, you can have any number of buttons you like on each APLauncher side, and they can be any size you like. Whether I can code this into Touch Settings without blowing a fuse is another matter!

Awaiting your next version tool with great interest. A lot of us are using/interested in using the 4 sided I-Cube developed by Musicman & Zylphin. Would be great to have an easy to use tool to customise rather than changing reg keys one by one. :)

I tried nevertheless, but in the end it told me that it cannot save the new settings (which seems logic).

Hi, don't worry if you can't find it... ....but perhaps it's there, but it's invisible. You might need to enable view hidden files and system files. (in Windows Explorer, go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Show Hidden Files and Folders)

I agree with you that 3x4 would be nicer and more efficient from a user perspective, but from a programing stand point the bugs and features Carlos has to deal with alone is a daunting task, and I'd much rather prefer a stable program vs. more 'custom' options.

So I'm definaetly looking forward to the future release with 4+ (hopefully 6) side compatibility.

Upcoming versions of Touch Settings will soon support installable ‘icon packs’. These will be packages of icons, plus suggested layouts for them, and optional suggested applications for the icons. The idea is that they should help novice users with a ‘plug and go’ solution to transforming an entire face of their cube.

Does anybody fancy pitching in to design some icons and make an icon pack?

I will be releasing a tool to help create icon packs at some point, but in the meantime here is some developer information to create them from scratch:

Icon Packs – Developer Info
Files should be packaged in a CAB file, which should install to its own subdirectory inside:
\Program Files\Touch Settings\IconPacks\

e.g:
\Program Files\Touch Settings\IconPacks\superCube

The folder will either be installed on the device or the storage card, the user will choose which on installation, based upon where they installed Touch Settings.

Inside the directory can be any number of .brn icon files, which should be:

- In .BRN format or .PNG format (don’t mix and match, as PNG support was phased out after the original Touch device)
- Any size you like, up to a maximum of 240x320
- If possible, on a black background, so they can be re-used and swapped around, but in some cases (e.g. see the iCube skin) your bottom row of icons might have a graduated background to give the appearance of a ‘floor’ to the cube face.

Also inside the directory is an XML document entitled iconpack.xml, see below for more information on this.

The above .xml file presents the end user with a choice of two APLauncher cube faces:
- A 2x2 grid. (Solitare, Browser, Calculator and Calculator)
- A 1x1 single-button cube face, with an icon for Explorer on it.

...and one MediaHubMini face:
- Standard 1x3 grid.

Notes
- It’s important to realise that within the <cubeface> section, each <item> has an ID which refers back to the ID number of the relevant icon.
- Icon Paths within this file can be of the format "filename.brn" (in which case they are expected to be located in the same directory as the icon pack) OR you can use full file paths, e.g. \My Documents\iCube\icons\calc.brn (but of course you'd need to tweak your installation CAB to put the icons somewhere else)
- MediaHubMini icons cannot be placed, sized, etc, this section must simply contain three items, each with an ID, as above. Additional parameters will be ignored.

Using this .xml file, it should be easy to create layouts for 3x4 faces, 4x4 faces, up to an imposed maximum of 36 icons per layout. There is no reasonable limit to the number of cube faces the XML file can contain.

If anybody fancies developing up an icon pack, please feel free to have a go! The idea is that they should help novice users with a ‘plug and go’ solution to transforming an entire face of their cube. We can also create icon packs to help restore cube faces back to normal defaults.

I'm able to modify icons on APLauncher but not on MediaHub, on this last, I'm just able to change Names and Links.
To change Icons on MediaHub do I have to edit brn files?
If I want to change the Background of the cube keeping the original animation, I have also to edit brn files?

I want to customize just one icon on the cube, e.g. email.
Having read this and another thread I am getting completely confused.
I don't need a fancy tools that suggest to re-design the whole icon layout or animation. I need answers for very simple questions:
1. Let's start with a bmp. Is any special sizes (height, width) that I should provide?
2. I used Bmp2Brn (from Devil_Inside), it did not work for me.
I used your, Carlos, app to convert from bmp 2 bnr. It works, at least it created bnr w/ the same size.
3. I put this bnr in \Windows dir on the phone and change App0 in the Registry and I got a black square instead of the icon.

What did I miss? Should I create png (how?) in addition?
Should I play w/ hex code and change the header?

I feel incredibly stupid although I've been doing SW for living for a long time.

Could anyone help me to go through the whole process for one particular bmp?

Does anyone have any tips for getting carlos' program to work now? I miss it very much, I'm sure the new version will be really cool. But I need some configuration tools now, and don't really like the other version that is out there.

Hullo, here's a brand new version with beta support for:

- More than 3 sides to a cube (e.g. the iCube skin)
- More than 6 icons on the AP Launcher (e.g. 3x2 grids of icons)
- All available MediaHub icons (playing / normal / etc.)
- Cube animation speed. (see 'advanced' tab)

...plus lot of GUI enhancements.

The next build will support Layouts, i.e. in-app adding of more sides and icons to your cube faces, plus some template layouts, e.g. 3x2 grid, 4x4 grid, circles/diamond of icons, etc.! Then, themes.

Feedback (particularly from anyone with iCube-skins, but of course, from everyone) welcome!

I noticed that with version 2.20pre we are no longer able to have blank AppLauncher names. This is something that is useful to be able to do because some AppLauncher icons that I use either have the app's name written into the icon (e.g. TomTom, XM), or the logo is sufficient for me to know what App it is (big 'O' for Opera).

Having a name with blank spaces then saving does not do anything (maybe Touch Settings trims for leading/trailing blank spaces before saving?). After saving, when I go back to Touch Settings it's as if it never saved the name and the previous name is still there.

The best I could do now is having '.' as the name.

Am I doing anything wrong? How can I get a blank name for the AppLauncher? If I'm not doing anything wrong, can the next version allow blank names or names that only have spaces?

Noticed that I can set a blank name by manually editing the registry key value at HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\APLauncher\App1\Name
Maybe future version can not trim the AppLauncher names, or not trim if there is only 1 blank space.

first of all I highly appreciate all your effort on the Touch Setting program!! :)

I've installed the beta on my Niki together with the iCube skins. Following problems occure

1. Cannot start application: After change an entry of APLauncher the application cannot be started anymore. Checking the resulting registry entry I've seen that the path information seems to be wrong
before "Path"="\\Windows\\iexplore.exe"
after "Path"="iexplore.exe"

2. What is confusing is that within the tool the path always contains the prefix "blue" even though it is not written like that to the registry.

3. Another point I've seen is that while selecting an application it would be helpful if the file list could be sorted by name. For searching through the windows directory with its big amount of executables it would be more convenient.

i guess it's because i've made quite some manual changes under the [HTC\Biotouch\...] keys

i tried both TotalCubes=3 vs TotalCubes=4 (with other keys not cleared), but same result.

fyi, my current cube as defined in the registry is:
App1 = quickdial, using Path1-6 & 19-23 for Cube1 animation
App2 = mediahubmini, using Path7-12 & 24-29 for Cube2 animation
App3 = aplauncher (2x3), using Path13-18 & 29-33 for Cube3 animation
App4 = custaplauncher (3x3), using Path34-44 for Cube4 animation

Carlos it's been some time since I tried this on my Touch. Now without reading thru every page I'm not sure which version to try on my Cruise. I've got the 6-tab Home Plugin & the HTC customizer beta 1.05. Would I download the latest "experiemental" version or an older one to customize the "cube"?

I just installed the new touch settings and it seems to run fairly well. The only problem I have noticed is the animation. In the other beta touch setting I ran the animation was smooth and very clear. Now the animation seems to have black lines dividing the individual spaces on the mediahub and aplauncher. So every square or rectangle has a black box around it pretty much. Do you know if anyone else has this problem.

Installation instructions:
1. DELETE the file MediaHubMini.lnk from your \Windows\Startup directory and reboot your device. (This stops \Windows\MediaHubMini.exe from being in-use so it can be patched - if you have problems finding it, either do a file search or use an app such as TotalCommander to do it) (EDIT: you could also just terminate the process MediaHubMini.exe using memmaid, sktools or similar)



Installed the app on my Touch Dual, after reboot it said something like "Do you have TouchFLO installed?" which I of course have.

Fiddled around for a bit, nothing worked. Uninstalled and replaced Mediahubmini.exe with original one and now my music, video and photos page on the cube is black :mad:

Can't understand what went wrong but thank god for backups, I tell u that.

EDIT:// Well whaddaya know, backup didn't restore my cube, now im stuck with a black cube :mad:

AH HA.. finally somone who had the same issue... Not to say its great you are having problems but at least now I know I'm not crazy!!!

and installed the v2.20pre but it is giving me an error messae like a previous page person with HTC Touch CDMA version. I have installed in device not external. It installed without a problem but I can not run the problem. It says it expired and get new one at fatattitude.com. I have not installed the 4 or 6 sided cube. Maybe I should try 1.29d. I have CDMA touch

I found a workaround for these issues.... I downgraded to v2.15pre and backdated my ppc...lmao

i bought sk tools and got it loaded on the touch.
i think the 15 dollars was totally worth it just to get rid of that annoying message sent window after i send a text.

Back date your PPC, open Touch Settings, make the necessary edits to your cube, and then reset the date back to normal.

That works for me.

Sorry, been incredibly busy, and also am about to go away on holiday in a few days.

Anyway I'm back - with a new beta for you that won't expire for ages! It's a development build, so some features are still incomplete. BUT I'm mainly interested in feedback about compatibility please! I'm hoping should work on the original GSM Touch, Vogues, Touch Dual and just about any other variant! Don't know about the new Cruise yet, could somebody send me a reg dump from one of those so I can have a look how it's set up?

Features include:

- Support for multiple AP Launchers (e.g. iCube skin)
- 'Layout' feature for 3x2 grids, 2x2 icon grids, etc, etc.
- Elimination of black lines problem on Mediahub (do you still get them on APLauncher)
- Attempt to cure 'exception' errors on startup.

At the moment, you can't do the following but they're planned:

- Manually add another APLauncher cube face
- Move icons around within the APLauncher
- Animations currently don't support more than 3 sided cubes.

Here's my log file. The black lines have indeed disapeared from the mediahub panel however now there are black lines dividing the rows on the aplauncher for me.

I am running a CDMA Version of the Touch from Telus provider up in Canada.

Quick question. I know you're a busy man but was there any plans to add the integration of different transition effects into the touch settings.. more then just the 2D slide and default 3d effect? The rolling barrel's etc etc?

at first i'd like to say thanks a lot for this great little program! it's making things fantasically easy and everythings working great so far...

i've got a question which is only an optical issue:

i changed the layout to 3x3 apps. technically everything works fine but there's a small grey line below each application-/icon-row and a little bar in the middle of that line which is cutting the text of the middle-icon (i guess it's the frame of the background).

is there any possibility to get rid of the lines (maybe by changing the background) for it to become all black?

same goes for the cube animation. i mean - i don't want to change the animation itself but the colour of the cube as it is changing to the standart 3x2 grey-cube when turning to the next page and than flips back to my black layout.

i hope i could describe what i mean...

maybe i just have to change some brns?

any help would be highly appreciated!

First I apologize for my bad english...

I use my HTC Touch for a few days now and like to edit the program icons on the Touch-Flo. I used the 'Manual Installation' from fatattitude. Everything worked fine but when I start 'Touch Settings' there is following pop-up:

"cannot read existing settings - is HTC TouchFlo installed?"
when I click OK the program starts but the App Launcher is empty.
When I try to change something (the temperature display) there stands:

"cannot save" and "settings saved - reset to activate changes".

Any ideas? All I want to do is to install the original icons on the Touch-Flo and not the pink icons from my provider.

Hi Aaron, I've had a look through your log file, it would seem that it's your registry settings that need reverting to the correct values. Please try the attached new version of Touch Settings - I've now coded the 'Layout' screen so that you can move around the various icons, so you should be able to position them correctly to avoid the black lines on the APLauncher.

Ah... ....transition effects, a lovely thing but one of the most time-consuming bits of coding! I'll try to gradually integrate more, but you have to appreciate that it's not just a case of warping some preset images in Photoshop, I actually have to write the code to manipulate and animate any given bitmap. I agree, though, I'd love more animations, especially a push/squeeze one.

It could be because of the following: The program may be trying to patch your \Windows\mediahubmini.exe file but can't for security reasons. Try this:

1. Use TotalCommander to rename the file \Windows\MediaHubMini.exe to MediaHubMini.bak

2. Use TotalCommander to copy the file \Program Files\Touch Settings\MediaHubMini.ptc to \Windows\MediaHubMini.exe (note change of name)

Hi Carlosp_uk,

I was able to install the new version on my Blue Angel without any problems and all the previously working functions still work. Unfortunately, when I tried to go into the layout function, I received a message about this being an older version and layout change was not supported. If you remember, we had problems running Biotouch and all the other sub-programs on the BA until Xplode and Jason came up with a patch which worked around the hardware check. I am presently using the Vista Cube installation created by PoorlyDuck which I think is based on Xplode's implementation. Even now, I still can't get Custaplauncher to run. I can live without the extra side of the cube if I could at least increase the number of programs launchable from the Aplauncher side. Any ideas about how get this function working on the BA?

CI tried changing text on the mediahubmini side and it worked. On the Aplauncher side, I tried to change the layout to 3X4 and it built the animation OK, but when I tried to use it, I see the animation page transition for 1-2 seconds and then the old 2X3 page actually comes up.

Ok so I have 2.24 installed. I can not put pictures up for the dialpad in program. i have never been able to do this with any version 1 or 2. Is there something im missing? I have a Vogue, with icube installed. Also was wondering if there is going to be support for vista cube 2.0. I got the touch because i don't like the iphone. I do not want to use icube but it has more apps per page. Please support vista cube soon there already is other icon packs that support it so I can customize how I like.

Also how do I link to sms, mms and phone in touch settings?

What version of the Touch do you have, is it an original GSM Touch?

It could be because of the following: The program may be trying to patch your \Windows\mediahubmini.exe file but can't for security reasons. Try this:

1. Use TotalCommander to rename the file \Windows\MediaHubMini.exe to MediaHubMini.bak

2. Use TotalCommander to copy the file \Program Files\Touch Settings\MediaHubMini.ptc to \Windows\MediaHubMini.exe (note change of name)

Will look into this.

While I'm on, I've just posted a MANUAL INSTALLATION VERSION of the latest build (v2.24) for those people that have problems installing the CAB.



I tried to delete / rename / overwrite the mediahub.exe file with total commander / GSFinder. I tried to uncheck the file from "read only". But none of them worked, I get an error for modifing the file, killed it with taskmanager but I do not know how to reach it now, from my desktop it will not work either. It is just read only.

By the way, I have an original touch, not flashed anything..

Just purchased a tmobile MDA with mobile 6 and HTC touchflo software..when the seller demoed the phone to me, he showed me the "cube" whereas you can launch programs with the swipe of your finger...after purchasing and putting in my sim card, i lost that option...everything else works with the touchflo..internet, contacts and all
but i cant get the cube up in my home screen...Please help...

I'm really sorry zthegreat but you might have more luck posting your question somewhere else, e.g. a general WinMobile forum? When you do, please remember to give as much info as possible, e.g. what is the exact model of the HTC device? Does it come with TouchFLO or has it been 'bolted on' afterwards, etc. Good luck!

1. Run MemMaid, go to 'Running Processes', kill mediahubmini.exe - make sure it's TERMINATED.

2. In TotalCommander, rename this file (\windows\mediahubmini.exe) to something else.

3. In TotalCommander, copy mediahubmini.ptc to \windows\mediahubmini.exe

Here's how I managed to produce the problem: I chose 4x5 first, which worked fine. Then went back to 3x4, but it still displayed 20 icons (not all regular; I'll try to take a screenshot later if that helps).

Checking the registry, I found that I still had entries for App12..App19. Removing those (plus soft reset) fixed the issue.

Programs works perfectly with my Cruise with a french ROM.
But after changing the original Video application with TCPMP I always recieve following message starting it "fichier introuvable! -mode:camera -type:video"
after clicking on "ok" i can continue normally . Is there a solution to this small problem ?

I' m facing this problem with my TouchDual:
Any new application I put on App Launcher, it is not working. I select it from within the folder on "App" field, so there is no way that I mispell the path, but the result is always the same:
"The file " cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found....".

For example, I put the path "\\Storage Card\Program Files\Pathaway\Pathaway.exe" and I press "Save" and close the program.
When I run the Cube and I select this button it comes up with message mentioned above.
When I return to TouchSettings, the path has changed to: "\\Windows\Bluepathaway.exe".

Any assistance would be mostly appreciated.

Hi, I have a Touch Cruise and I tried to put the 2D slide effect, but when I tried to put it back to the original rotating cube it doesn't work anymore. Now it looks like a flat panel with no animation, the image simply changes...
Does anyone has a solution? (other than hard reset)

By the way, is there any way to put the lock device program in the cube launcher?

Hi,

I use touch settings to customize iCube. Whereas the app launcher can be configured (name, app, params), i don't manage to get the icons updated. In fact touch settings shows the layout the way i configured (with the right icons in the right place), but the cube still shows the standard icons that came with icube.

any idea what could help there?

I have a new O2 Orbit 2 XDA which had the cube software preinstalled.

I have now installed the 'Touch Settings 2.25' and when i goto the 'APLauncher' tab and click on the LAYOUT section it displays that my HTC Touch Software is not recent enough to support custom layouts.

How can i found out what version of the cube software i am running and how does one obtain an update.

As a consequence the Touch Settings software is running in "Debug" mode.

Any help appriciated.

Sounds like the same issue. My phone was only released on the market on the 28th Jan 2008, so i would've thought it was recent enough.

Hopefully someone will come up with a solution as i like this application.

Carlos, thanks for the update. I had to Hard Reset my phone today, so I figured why not give the latest v2.25 a try. The 3x4 app launcher looks pretty good.

I am running on a CDMA Touch, on Bell Mobility in Canada.

I had been using the version that expired on Dec. 31.

I noticed on the latest version that you can't leave the name of the program blank like in earlier versions. A quick forum search showed the previous beta had a similar problem. Is this something you can fix next time around.

Hi Carlos, i was testing ur new 2.25 version on my Touch. I tried changing the MUSIC application on the cube from Audio Manager to WMP. It went okay; infact as i checked the registry entries were updated as well. But there was no effect of the change ie. pressing MUSIC still popped up Audio Manager. However it works perfectly with the old 1.22 version. Any clues?

My Touch is an "inproved version" (ELFin) from T-Mobile NL, simunlocked, but NOT CID-unlocked!! perhaps is this the problem?

Noticed that I can set a blank name by manually editing the registry key value at HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\APLauncher\App1\Name
Maybe future version can not trim the AppLauncher names, or not trim if there is only 1 blank space.

You have to download a "reg-editor" like PHM RegEdit (http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml). Install the CAB, run the program, and look up your regkey..

Thanks, that one doesn't seem to be available for download anymore so I ended up using another one that seemed to work. I had no problems with the editing.

I am running Touch Settings on a CDMA HTC Touch (Bell Canada). It works flawlessly with one exception, (actually 2). I am using the 2D animation and a 3x4 app launcher. Everything else is stock. I edited out the names in the registry editor.

1) I cannot get "poutlook.exe" to run from any App Location. I currently have it set to App"0" for mail, and App"2" for SMS and when I press the square, nothing happens. It just lights up, but goes nowhere. (just like if there is no app assigned) I tried manually editing in Touch settings as well as checking the path in the registry editor. I'm really stuck. They worked fine in v2.15. I can run other apps from these locations, just not "poutlook"

2) The names need to be able to be eliminated. If the only way to do this is through a Registry Editor, then that's fine. It just worked on v2.15.

Although the installation proceeds ok with the CAB file, when I start the program its brings up an error saying that it doesnt have the permissions to modify mediahubmini.exe.

I tried manual install with obviously the same results. Following the hints for troubleshooting the manual install I used Total Commander to try and rename the file. However I can neither rename, nor change the file properties to not be read-only.

I cannot find the process for mediahubmini or biotouch in SKTools either ( I can give a list of running processes if its needed), is this possible?

Hullo, here's a brand new version with beta support for:

- More than 3 sides to a cube (e.g. the iCube skin)
- More than 6 icons on the AP Launcher (e.g. 3x2 grids of icons)
- All available MediaHub icons (playing / normal / etc.)
- Cube animation speed. (see 'advanced' tab)

...plus lot of GUI enhancements.

The next build will support Layouts, i.e. in-app adding of more sides and icons to your cube faces, plus some template layouts, e.g. 3x2 grid, 4x4 grid, circles/diamond of icons, etc.! Then, themes.

Feedback (particularly from anyone with iCube-skins, but of course, from everyone) welcome!

I installed Touch Settings 2.25 on my new HTC Touch Crusie with ROM version 1.25.407.1 GER(man) dated Dec 17, 2007.
After playing with the cube animations - 2D/3D - I do not have anymore a cube. Whatever I activate I have only 2D slides. The preview function works well. What can I do to get back the cube.

A hard reset is probably the easiest, especially if you're like me, and have everything backed up and ready to go in the case of an "accident". I can usually have my phone up and running in about 90 minutes including the new cube and custom icons, my contacts, and any music or videos.

Anyways, a while back (in the first post) shows a link to revert back to the original cube. It worked on the first versions, I'm not sure if it still works.

Please make sure to read the forum before asking a question. I know 45 pages can be daunting, but there's a wealth of information in this topic, including your question, which has been asked at least twice.

Just backdate your Touch to before the beta expired, make all the changes you need, and set your unit back to the correct date. Everything will be fine.

I installed the touch settings. I did not change the cube stuff but was trying out the weather component. I unistalled touch settings from the device then used the media hub mini tool.

Well, when I use the cube (stock) I have black boxes in 2 ofthe cubes. THe Music cube says music but it is black and then Mail cube is also black. They both have their names listed but the cubes are black.

Any suggestions? Maybe I need to re-install it and use the MediaHubMini to uninstall rather then uninstalling through Windows?

I have a french version of the touch cruise and I can't make the touch settings work correctly.

I have the version 2.2 and everything seems to work well.

I can choose the icons I want for the App Launcher and the preview works good. I can even generate the anim and the preview works good.

but when I rest the PPC and try to use the cube all the icons I added return into black boxes and there is no anim anymore...
I tried with brn pics and with png pics but nothing works...

Any help from any one would be great.

WOW! This community is VERY active and I just happened to buy a Sprint Touch. Sweet! I've been trying everyone's cube mods and cube settings apps. I tried your newest beta of Touch Settings and found it to be quite buggy, as warned. May I suggest a few things with the APLauncher(s) customizations?

1. Reset to factory defaults (for everything)
2. The add/remove button doesnt work for me, so I only get one APLauncher
3. After changing the layout more than once, it does not remove the old layout first.
4. Make a way to change the background of the APLauncher (I think its in the reg already somewhere?)

Unfortunately I can't get rid of what looks like two layers of icons on eachother in one APLauncher pane. I tried using the other Cube Config app with its 'reset to defaults' button, but it didn't change anything. Since I just did a hard reset, I don't mind hitting it again, but in the future I guess I'll remember to backup my registry first.

I tried using the other Cube Config app with its 'reset to defaults' button, but it didn't change anything. Since I just did a hard reset, I don't mind hitting it again, but in the future I guess I'll remember to backup my registry first.

I am having the same problem. How did you do that hard reset? Did the hard reset give you the default settings back on the application launcher?

WOW! This community is VERY active and I just happened to buy a Sprint Touch. Sweet! I've been trying everyone's cube mods and cube settings apps. I tried your newest beta of Touch Settings and found it to be quite buggy, as warned. May I suggest a few things with the APLauncher(s) customizations?

1. Reset to factory defaults (for everything)
2. The add/remove button doesnt work for me, so I only get one APLauncher
3. After changing the layout more than once, it does not remove the old layout first.
4. Make a way to change the background of the APLauncher (I think its in the reg already somewhere?)

One more problem: I changed an icon, but on the cube page it is only a field, where the icon should be. In the Touch Settings the new icon is displayed correctly.
Whats wrong here?

The app successfully killed my cube on Polaris. No animations at all played. Pages just appeared. Tried (de)activating in Anim tub, but no luck.
Turned out all paths were written in upper case, and files are named in mixed. So after renaming everything went back to normal.

This program will only edit your existing cube faces. It gives you the ability to edit additional cube sides if you have them.

You need one of the many 4-6 sided applications available on the internet. You will just have to search. Musicman's iQube or (iCube) seems to be the favorite.

I got a Sprint Touch. Original ROM. Installed touchsettings v2.25pre last night. Can't get it run. It shows me an error:

Same error here with ELFin (WWE Unlock).
I can only install 1.22 or 1.29e. For all 2.x versions: or expired version or can not install bacause it has same errors.

Add me to the group of Sprint Touch users who can not install. I tried manual install as well as the cab.
I installed MemMaid, but there is no MediaHubMini process showing, even after pulling down the proper menu.
I tried copying MediaHubMini to the storage card, then pasting to Windows, because another user reported that worked (didn't for me).
I'm eager to get this great looking program!
Back to the icube for now..
And anybody else who is in my same predicament, please let me know if you come upon a fix?

Application killed my cube animations on Touch Cruise. Icon change resulted in black spot where icon should appear...

Running on Touch Cruise WWE... stay away from this if this is what you have or you'll end up doing a hard reset!! :mad:

btw, i managed to change the icons and program path by changing the registry. but the animation is not correct with the old icons still on the cube. it's a bit painful but still manageable.

Well, on www.fatattitude.com dwld page the 2.25pre is then only updated version. Other versions are older........ maybe the 2.25 fits for Elf and not for Polaris........

I have a Touch Cruise with Dutch rom and can't get it working. I always get the same error when i install the cab or when i manually install the files.
Is this program only for english roms?

Change the date of your PDA to 1/3/2008 and try to run.... Its not a good solution but works for me... ;)

Touch Settings is a free program that I code in my spare time to help people. It has been included in countless ROMs and downloaded more than 50,000 times over the last ten months. Over this time has helped many tens of thousands of people to reconfigure their cube. As HTC have continued to release multiple devices around the entire world it has increasingly difficult to keep up with the various different registry settings, configurations and files required to make the program both up-to-date and backwards compatibile.

The reason that the beta has expired is because I have been away on holiday and have had no time recently to work on the project. This should change over the coming weeks. If you're having problems, please continue to feed back and - remember - I make it very clear in several places that this is a BETA release and users should always back up their devices before testing the software.

@obiwan2: I suggest you reconsider your poorly considered, crass comments which are offensive. Contrary to what you might think, I do not sit here every hour of the day, ready to drop my full-time job that pays the bills and fix the bugs that are so clearly making you so angry. If you don't like the program, or don't want to wait for a fix, then crawl back under whatever rock you came from and leave this forum to the kind community souls who work together to further this beta program to help each other.

To everyone else - thanks for all the feedback, as ever, and apologies for not being around for a while.. ..I'll see what I can do to help. As always, the quickest way to get the program working on your device is to PM me and then send me a FULL REG DUMP and log file of the program's output.
