HyperCore
PUBLIC BETA
The most complex KITCHEN a begginer cook may ever need.
Easy to use but also very complex, it can be usefull to anyone.
Why ask and wait for others to make the perfect ROM for you when you got the power to do it yourself ?
~. Base ROM .~
* NO BASE ROM ! but ANY ROM !
~. Best part .~
* IT USES TADZIO TOOLS
* YOU CAN OPTIMISE EXE's and DLL's, SO IF YOU WANT EVEN MORE SPACE, YOU'LL GET IT
* IT CAN BE USED ON ANY DEVICE WITH VERY LITTLE MODIFICATIONS !!!!!
* NO LONGER LIMITED BY ANYONE OR ANYTHING.
* YOU CAN COOK ANY ROM YOU LAY YOUR EYES ON VERY EASY
* IT HAS ADVANCED ERROR CHECK
~. It will install .~
Core folder on the system drive. Some tools and settings required.
HyperCore folder on the Desktop. There is your kitchen. You can move it wherever you want.
The place where you actually use it is HyperCore\Panel.
~. How To .~
- First of all edit the file named "Device.txt" located on the "Core\ACK\" folder located on systemdrive (mostly drive C:\)
Edit as following.
If you have a :
HTC Wizard : " set device=Wizard "
HTC Hermes : " set device=Hermes "
HTC Artemis : " set device=Artemis "
HTC Herald : " set device=Herald "
HTC Universal : " set device=Universal "
HTC Trinity : " set device=Trinity "
HTC Prophet : " set device=Prophet "
Save it and then you're good to go.
It's much similar to the old Core kitchen...so those of you who used it ...will feel comfortable with it. Regenerated batch scripts, better, and i hope bug free.
Another thing...I almost forgot. For the Universal users, after the HTC64 tool starts, when decoding it, save it as OS.nb
~. Guides .~
* Hermes Cookbook (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=44308&d=1184780703) - THANKS to sambartle

Since this is still a public BETA, I await your problems/ideas/concepts.
If you spot a bug, i suggest to send me a PM as well as a post on the thread.
I suggest having a ROM to make a backup in case you do something wrong
I created and tested this tool for WindowsMobile 6 , but WM5 should work OK too.

I have to say that i have some problems with XIP generating for your device...it lacks the boot.rgu and possibly some other files too. I don't have Universal experience but i hope that someone can direct me what I am doing wrong. So, for now the kitchen is fully functionable...but the XIP you'd better generate it or copy it from somewhere else.
I hope that this is solved as quick as possible. Cheers !

I confirm that there is a virus:
\Core\Tools\upx293w\upx.exe has the virus "Trojan horse Delf.AUY" according to my AVG 7.5 scan
I'll mirror the file as soon as the virus is removed from the file

I can't confirm that.
I'm running McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8 with the latest patch, search engine and virus definitions and I can't find a thing.
Also with AdWare 2007 Pro and still nothing.

Hey guys !
Somebody reported this on other forum too. That Delf.AUY is pretty troubling .
I am using NOD32 with latest virus definition and still no warning....Mabe i should ask the creators of upx of this "suspicious" file.
I'll add the mirror to first post. Did you removed the upx ?

I left in the upx
I figured that the 'virus' is probably just AVG's heuristics producing a false positive. Since many of the other virus scanners didn't pick it up - its unlikely to be anything real
Still, if you do decide to release a new version, just PM me and I'll update it

Nothing at all it's not a Trojan but an overprotective antivirus that you have :D.
Please at least read the previous posts it's only 2 pages this thread.
And since you are a noob and you don't know what to do how can you post in this thread?
For which use have you downloaded this program?
Are you going to start cooking Roms?
Nothing personal only when you post at least respect yourself and the others who read it or participate in it.

For those with Windows Vista , there is a little bug.
You must manualy edit batch files (.bat) and change "cd /../../" with "cd ../../" or remove first slash if exist

The error message is not edited to last changes. Meaning changeing the folder name into HyperCore from Core.
The bug is with windows vista.
You'll have to edit the batch files
change "cd /../../" into "cd ../../" (remove first slash if any in the batch files)

Ok, so ...still same thing.
I don't get the error, so I assumed that only Vista causes trouble. It's a bug nevertheless. So, have you tried the fix ?
Go to SystemDrive(C:) \Core\Batch and edit all .bat files there. That should do the trick.
I can't take care of this...i have a very important exam in a week and have to study, so sorry if i won't answer your questions as fast as you would.

Hm... I'm new in WM ROM cooking, had experience only with PalmOS cooking.
I'm trying to use this tool on WinXP PRO SP2.
When I decode the ROM although I put it inside the HyperCore\Extract\Source folder I'm finding it in the HyperCore\Extract one when I run the DumpRom.
After continuing with the process of decoding ; changing the .fat to .nba, and closing the application, I get an error message of "There is no OS.nb in the HyperCore\Extract folder. Operation failed".
Could anyone help me please?
PS I'm trying to edit Indra's new ROM and KDSkamal Ultimate one too.

I did it successful, just rename nk.fat to OS.nba, or when decoding set otput to OS.nba instead nk.fat, but i've problem extracting XIP's, not every time i get boot.rgu file extracted, and when building OS, after encoding it, its about 50MB smaller than original.

Hi,
The new build can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326433
XIP dumping I did as follow:
1: added nk.nbf too 'C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\Source'
2: C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Extract\DumpRom
3: C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Extract\PkgTool
4: C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Extract\DUMP XIP :D (yes it works)
XIP and OS.nb I added in:
C:\Core\HyperCore\Build\'ROM'
SYS and OEM i place in C:\Core\HyperCore\'Build'
Then I go too:
C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel and build the ROM
Greetings,

Question :
When you first installed the kitchen, wasn't the HyperCore folder moved to desktop ? It should of done that.
The big improvement of this kitchen is that it can be moved anywhere on the harddrive and not bound anymore to the systemdrive. If it didn't moved to desktop, you can move the folder HyperCore somewhere else just to test.

i strongly agree with this suggestion.
being a newbie in ROM cooking, i am definitely feeling the pain in following 3 (as in first post) different best-known-methods/tutorials, each with different style of writing, different directory naming convention, some even with outdated tools.
if the tool is meant to be shared for the good of all--be it old or new cooker, a streamlined/linear step-to-step instruction would be most welcome.
also, since the hypercore installer is defaulted to install to system drive (C:\),
would it less error-prone and eliminate the need to remove the numerous "\" all together if the batch scripts are to be hardcoded to "c:\", so as to eliminate the compatibility issue with Vista?
i'm sure doing a "Find & Replace" of "c:\" is much more easier and effective than "\" that occurs countless time in the batch scripts for those who have non-"C:\" users.
or,
make it an absolute-relative script that is independent of the system drive (C:\), so as to make it fully portable, as someone on the previous posts proposed?
as the first post mentioned, the tools is meant for both beginners and old time cookers, let's not make this an exclusive right for the old time cookers, and leaving the newbies out in the cold.
Won't it be good to see newbies becoming new blood and contributing their work the forum as well?
sorry if i whine too much, just some frustrations from a beginner. great work nonetheless!

Hi all,
I will try to explain how I cook with this beautiful kitchen ;)
Extract the kitchen too: C:\Core (To make it easy)
1. Modify 'C:\Core\ACK\Device.txt' too: 'set device=Universal'
2. Replace 'C:\Core\Batch' with my attached batch folder.
3. Take a nk.nbf you like and place it in: C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\Source\nk.nbf
Now you can start cooking :D
Go to 'C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Extract' and 1.dumprom
-HTC64 Extended ROM Tool starts, select 'Decode'
-Klick those 3 dots and brows to 'C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\nk.nbf'
-Klick next
-Now change the next window like this:
Extended ROM file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\nk.nbf
Project file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\nk.prj
FAT 16 file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\os.nb
Klick 'Decode'
It will tell you Decoded successful.
Klick 'Exit'
DumpROM start's.
wait.....
When it's finished select [1] - Start "PKG Tool"
In options select [2] - Automatic (no backup)
SYS and OEM are created!
Again select your options:
[4] - Move SYS and OEM to "HyperCore\Build\
Press [ENTER] to EXIT
Select 'C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Extract\DumpXIP
Press [ENTER]
Move both 'XIP' and 'OS.NB' too "Core\Build\Rom" folder.
When done [ENTER] to EXIT
--------------------------------
Now you can modify SYS and OEM to your habbits....
--------------------------------
When done go too:
C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Build\BuildOS
Select option [1] - "Build OS"
Build OS window opens.
Klick the small triangel and wait....
When it's finished you can close (when it gives errors you did something wrong with OEM and SYS modifications).
Select option [2] - Create OS.nb from SYS and OEM
Wait..... till it's finished. (you need a lot of RAM for this otherwise it crashes)
When it's finished you need to press twice a key on your keyboard.
New Window pops up.
Select option [3] - Start HTC64.exe
Read carefully and press [ENTER]
HTC64 starts, klick 'Encode'
Klick those 3 dots again and brows to 'C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\nk.prj'
Klick 'NEXT'
Change options in new Window like this:
Extended Rom file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Tools\RUU\nk.nbf
FAT16 file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Tools\Convert\OS.nb
Klick 'ENCODE'
You now created your own ROM
Klick 'EXIT'
Now you can select option [4] - Flash
Don't forget to attache your MDA to your desktop haha...
pfffff.....
Cheers,
Laurentius26 :)

Excellent guide, many thanks. One question on your "errors" statement though....what if I made no modifications to OEM/SYS - I'm just testing the process to make sure it works 'clean' still got an error at the "Creating Registry" stage....any ideas?

That would definitively mean that you have 2 .dsm files in the same folder. You can always check the last line in HyperCore\Build\temp\log.txt but CHECK IT BEFORE CLOSING BuildOS.exe(option 1 in BuildOS)
@Laurentius26 : Thanks, that should definitively come in handy
P.S. Guys, you can move the HyperCore folder to any location you like. I am surprised because the setup should have already move it to Desktop and i don't know why that didn't happen. That was the main objective of this kitchen.
I'll try to make next version in flash...it's little more complicated so if someone has experience, please let me know.

If flash is where you are heading (I assume actionscript3) have you looked at flex and adobe AIR ?
this would be the ideal way to do it as you don't get the sandbox(internet file security) issues that are predominant with flash development. I can assist to some extent with this if you are interested.

FYI, the kitchen doesn't work properly with vista, due to the way vista handles the desktop so you need to change references in the batch files to hard locations rather than %system% references.
That aside i was hoping someone may have had success with complex cab conversions to oemapp installs, cabs that install by default to windows seem to work fine but others that have sub folders and create folders from the root level I have had no success with, classic example is kaiser htc home cab, i have tried all sorts of ways to get this work but after about forty different attempts last weekend I am at a total loss.. any thoughts ?
tried with and without flashinit files, tried with and without inf files tried various combinations such as moving everything to a single folder and mdoifying rgu's, flashinit and inf files nothing seems to work :(

I also have this problem when working on ROMs for my Uni. Runing it on an XP SP2. Will be trying on a 2K machine later. An answers to solve this would be useful.
More info on the "I've had something similar and helped with increasing page file upto 2" quote would be useful - page file - where? I know my hardware very well, I'm not so farmiliar with the software.
I'm looking to start building a very striped down WM6 build. With transcriber in the build.

sorry if my question are so stupid, because I'm a beginner
OK, I've already create OEM, so I have file and folder at C:\Core\HyperCore\Build\
Now, what should I do to the os.nb at C:\Core\HyperCore\Build\ROM\ ???
and there are a lot of file at C:\Core\HyperCore\Build\ROM\XIP\ I don't know what to do next
and maybe there is a program out there to make easier for me to edit os.nb ???
or guidance to edit it ???

Yup, I already follow the instruction :
Hi all,
I will try to explain how I cook with this beautiful kitchen ;)
Extract the kitchen too: C:\Core (To make it easy)
1. Modify 'C:\Core\ACK\Device.txt' too: 'set device=Universal'
2. Replace 'C:\Core\Batch' with my attached batch folder.
3. Take a nk.nbf you like and place it in: C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\Source\nk.nbf
Now you can start cooking :D
Go to 'C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Extract' and 1.dumprom
-HTC64 Extended ROM Tool starts, select 'Decode'
-Klick those 3 dots and brows to 'C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\nk.nbf'
-Klick next
-Now change the next window like this:
Extended ROM file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\nk.nbf
Project file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\nk.prj
FAT 16 file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\os.nb
Klick 'Decode'
It will tell you Decoded successful.
Klick 'Exit'
DumpROM start's.
wait.....
When it's finished select [1] - Start "PKG Tool"
In options select [2] - Automatic (no backup)
SYS and OEM are created!
Again select your options:
[4] - Move SYS and OEM to "HyperCore\Build\
Press [ENTER] to EXIT
Select 'C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Extract\DumpXIP
Press [ENTER]
Move both 'XIP' and 'OS.NB' too "Core\Build\Rom" folder.
When done [ENTER] to EXIT
--------------------------------
Now you can modify SYS and OEM to your habbits....
--------------------------------
When done go too:
C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Build\BuildOS
Select option [1] - "Build OS"
Build OS window opens.
Klick the small triangel and wait....
When it's finished you can close (when it gives errors you did something wrong with OEM and SYS modifications).
Select option [2] - Create OS.nb from SYS and OEM
Wait..... till it's finished. (you need a lot of RAM for this otherwise it crashes)
When it's finished you need to press twice a key on your keyboard.
New Window pops up.
Select option [3] - Start HTC64.exe
Read carefully and press [ENTER]
HTC64 starts, klick 'Encode'
Klick those 3 dots again and brows to 'C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\nk.prj'
Klick 'NEXT'
Change options in new Window like this:
Extended Rom file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Tools\RUU\nk.nbf
FAT16 file: C:\Core\HyperCore\Tools\Convert\OS.nb
Klick 'ENCODE'
You now created your own ROM
Klick 'EXIT'
Now you can select option [4] - Flash
Don't forget to attache your MDA to your desktop haha...
pfffff.....
Cheers,
Laurentius26 :)
I already reach the "Now you can modify SYS and OEM to your habbits...."
but the problem is I don't know how to modify SYS and OEM ....
because I really never did this before and I have no knowledge how to do it, but I really want to learn how
