Hi to all,

No english ROM for hw6915 exist, but somebody must have hw6915 with english ROM installed. Please somebody copy all *.mui files from windows directory and upload them to the forum and we will try copy this .mui files
to our windows directory and see what we will get. We will get true english ROM if i am not wrong. Please somebody upload english .mui files.
Try to copy files with PPC Total commander, i think this will work !

FIRST THING IS TO FULY BACKUP YOUR DEVICE USING AGOOD BACKUP SOFTWARE AND TO KNOW THIS MAY BE ONLY ONE WAY!! THEN TRY TO USE THIS
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/
TO FORCE THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL FILES AND IN A "SHOW ALL FILES" MODE ROM INCLUDED GOOD LUCK &YOU NEED IT YOU CAN ALSO INJOY THE DEVICE "AS IS"
BUT YOU DO WHAT FIILES BAST GOOD LUCK

If you want to replace the files and this maybe risky...
in the Awizard thing once installed in your pc you'll find a in the "BIN" folder a CAB file named unlock or something of sorts.

copy this file to the device, run it, after it with Resco File explorer (follow Erezyad method) you'll see a completely new folder named "2" there is a replica of the root folder of your device...

i have tried adding files to one or the other and while i cannot modify some files on the root (inside windows folder i.example) i can write or erase anything i want form the contents of the "2" folder and even better it doesnt mirrors the root neithe rthe root mirrors the 2...

so my guess is that on hard reset the contents of 2 are copied to \root and.

i'm too lazy to hard reset my device and i ma happy with my french language .. however you could try for example.

from folder 2 erase all the sample pictures that comes with the OS... hard reset and see if you get them... if you dont i am right and you can try and write the english .mui files in the folder 2 and hard reset... or you can end up briking your device... but it is worth a try isnt it? you look stuck anyway :)

let me know
cheers
N

PS: You can easily copy the contents of 2 folder to your pc before messing with it (no sharing violation or anything (that could act as a backup )

Could you dump your ROM? I'm looking for a french one :)

I tried to make an english version of CEOS.nbf based on spgi dump.

Now I'm looking for a crazy volunteer to be the first one to test it (it won't probably pass the RUU tests, but it could work. I didn't modified anything, just used modified prepare_imgfs/buildimgfs/make_imgfs). It may also crash the device....

Anyone who updates his device (with official ROM) should use HDD USB Monitor to log RUU full process.

Hi,
I have actually a HW6915 with a sound problem and which is sim-locked. It is a French one. It will be exchanged next week for an English version. As I prefer to have a French one I was wondering on how to copy the rom from the first one to put it in the second one. I am not sure if it is possible but before sending back the French one I prefer to make a copy of the Rom.
What do I need and how to do this ?

Chris

WELL, I HAVE THE DEVICE READY FOR TESTING, BUT I DON'T HAVE A CEOS.NBF IN ENGLISH... I AM WILLING TO TRY THAT ON MY 6915... I ALSO HAVE A METHOD TO BYPASS RUU TESTS (HEXEDITING THE HEADER OF THE NBF AND UPDATE VIA SABLE RUU UTILITY FOR FRENCH ORANGE UPDATE), IN FACT I'VE CHANGED MY FRENCH OS INTO GERMAN , SPANISH, SWEDISH OR DANNISH, ALSO ITALIAN... I JUST DON'T HAVE ENGLISH ROM FOR TEST...JUST GIVE ME THE CEOS.NBF IN ENGLISH AND I'LL POST THE WHOLE METHODE FOR UPDATE LANGUAGE... THANX

My CEOS.nbf wasn't working... (or sable_RUU...)

I ALSO HAVE A METHOD TO BYPASS RUU TESTS

What's your RUU version? is it official sable_RUU or a modified one?

I made this one using a dump found here on the forums, and using the prepare_imgfs tools I modified. I'm waiting to get tadzio sources to make imgfs_toolsV2 for hw69xx devices (better imgfs size handling)...

I'll let you know when more informations will be available, or when imgfs_toolsV2 will be ready for hw69xx.

Please describe your method to pass RUU tests (IDA breakpoints, special RUU, RUU from another device...)

Well, I tooked the french Orange sable_ruu, and works everytime when flashing my 6915... The only rom for that update utility is in french.. i looked on internet and i've found sp's from HP, downloaded all, but none in English... Just for fun, i've hexedit every one of these sp's CEOS.nbf with that working french header from original Orange sable update...Then i flashed using sable_ruu from Orange package and i changed 3 or 4 different languages... it worked everytime, all was ok... but still no English CEOS.nbf in order to change language to English using the same method... So now i am looking for HP 6915 original softpack from HP, and that should also work in the same manner... If someone have it, i can give a try... Meanwhile, that's no problem for German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch (i think) languages... These are the only softpacks i've found till now...

Just download the Orange sable update utility or the Boygues Sable update utility and you'll have french OS, it works directly upon the English version, updating to French version... Take good care to update ONLY the CEOS.nbf, not radio and extended rom, it might brick your phone... In order to do that you'll have to delete all the nbf's from update utility except CEOS.nbf

How did you get French CEOS.nbf out of "maj HP Ipaq hw6915 Orange.exe" file ? I did try to find where this exe temporarily unpack CEOS.nbf but no success. Or maybe you have another ruu french update. If you have one please share it with us.

that's the link : http://www.mobilite.fr.orange-business.com/public/oev4/html/fr/pme/mobiles/ba/dl.php?mi=192&pi=2510

and here is the boygues update : http://www.smart-phones.fr/telechargement_util.php

the diifference consists in the way update is performed, the Orange update is personalized, the Boygues update is clean, but Boygues ask for a registration (nothing special, is free)

for all the other languages, pm me, i can send you hexedited CEOS.nbf's tested and working... i repeat, still no english CEOS.nbf , if anybody have the original softpack from HP it would be great...

Ihave 3x Spanish hw6915 and 2x English hw6915 for testing purposes I've dumped the Spanish ROM (.raw files to be exact) using this method: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HowtoDumpRom

Though others say (in the year 2006 anyway) that it is impossible to convert .raw files to an actual usable ROM update file I can upload English hw6915 .raw files or give you anything from the installation CD that came with the device.

But what is a softpack anyway? Does my installation CD even contain it?

Given instructions I can provide you with ANYTHING you need because I'm kinda desperate to change the Spanish hw6915's to English.

Hi everyone!

I've been trying to change the language on my 6915 from Spanish to French or English for quite some time, and it looks like wikidorg has found just what I was looking for!!!

I'll try the Orange utility tonight, and I will tell you how it goes.

Wikidorg, could you just confirm the steps?
1. Get the orange update, and extract files with WinRar.
2. Delete all NBF files except CEOS.nbf (which would leave EnterBL, GetDeviceData, and Sable_RUU exe + CEOS.nbf)
3. Run the update utility...

No HEX editing is necessary here?

Hey everyone!

Im still stuck with spanish hw6915 (HTC Sabe), but atleast I have dumped the ROMs from my English hw6915 using these guides for

itsutils:
http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2888
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=XdaUtils%2Fpdocread.exe

Anyways as I said before I have the .raw files, but according to the itsmee discussion with fullgear (1st url) they are referring to them as .nb files:

pdocread -h 0x4e9ef44e 0 0xa00000 838-qtek.nb
3 partitions, 2 binary partitions
customerid=00000000 uniqueid= 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
CopyTFFSToFile(0x0, 0xa00000, 838-qtek.nb)

Also there is mentioned that it is possible (and fullgear has succeeded) to pdocwrite them (Extended ROM to be exact) back to the device. Thats WoW - for me anyways) This raises the question - Is it possible to pdocwrite the dumped OSrom.nb (3 windows partitions from the first disk) if my hw6915 is running or do I have to reset it to the boot loader state before. (Pressing action button + action button + reset (all at the same time for a few econds))
To me it seems weird to write a new rom while the old one is still running, but I just dont have all the info about the boot loader mode.

Anyways to clarify I have added the partiton layout of my hw6915's (no matter English or Spanish versions)

E:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\itsutils>pdocread -l
63.94M (0x3ff0000) TrueFFS

handle f3f54002 3.06M (0x30fc00)
disk 13f54ee2

customerid=00000000 uniqueid= 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

customerid=00000000 uniqueid= 00 00 00 00 f6 7e 01 06 00 17 0a 98 08 09 06 ec

Using these commands I dumped the .nb
1) the User filesystem
E:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\itsutils>pdocread -h 0xb3f54ee2
0 0x3337e00 hw6915_En\user.nb
CopyTFFSToFile(0x0, 0x3337e00, hw6915_En\user.nb)

2) the OsRom
E:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\itsutils>pdocread -h 0xf3f54212
0 0x3ff0000 hw6915_En\OSROM.nb
CopyTFFSToFile(0x0, 0x3ff0000, hw6915_En\OSROM.nb)

So regarding this I have 2 questions:
1) Can I simply flash my ROM using a pdocread utility to dum the necessary file and pdocwrite to write it?
2) Do I have to CID unlock the hw6915 (HTC Sable) to use the pdocwrite? And if so witch G3 or G4 CID do I have?

English boot screen:
1.00.00
1.21UK

Spanish boot screen
1.00.00
1.50

I suspect G3, but Im not sure.

Wikidorg, could you just confirm the steps?

3. Run the update utility...

No HEX editing is necessary here?

I think that in order to flash ROM you need a CID unlocked hw6915 and and update ROM that is compatible with the RUU.exe You are using.
Just for fun, i've hexedit every one of these sp's CEOS.nbf with that working french header from original Orange sable update
But as wikidorg says - in order to use incompatible rom with a particular Ruu.exe You need to hexedit the header of the incompatible rom so that the ruu.exe thinks its a compatible one.(e.g. change the header to the way it is in the compatible Rom file)
BUT if you download the ruu.exe and rom together (as a part of an update) they are compatible with each other . So no hexedit is needed.
Unfortunatley as wikidorg put it there are no English CEOS.nbf available :(
So even hexedit is not an option for me.

I'll try the Orange utility tonight, and I will tell you how it goes...

Just to let you know that I was able to change the language from Spanish to French with both Orange and Bouygues downloads. As wikidorg pointed out, the Bouygues one is a 'cleaner' ROM (no orange icons/logos etc...). And no hex editing if you're flashing with the french CEOS.nbf. I've tested the main functionalities (wif, gps, bluetooth...) and everything works perfectly.

Wikidorg : would you mind posting how you hex-edited the other CEOS files (for other languages). Might be useful in case other updates appear later on.
And thanks again!!!

Nice to finally know that, but as no one has a flashable English rom I still cant upgrade using pdocwrite where CID unlock is needed. As the time was of essence my solution to this situation was the replacement of the Spanish hw6915s to English ones.

You're right, except for the "for me" part. When I called them (3 times UK and US support) They said that the motherboard of the device has to be changed (50 pounds or so for that) in order to change the language (wtf). Thats their official stand. So these f*ckers keep the rom's to theirself so you can beat it. However If you know someone personally who can pull some strings you just might have a chance.

thats not right... i bought german 6915 and flashed it with english rom 1.21uk and had no problem twice, since the first one fell on the ground and it got broken (gps didnt work anymore) so i got replaced pda and german again.

but out there are different motherboard versions and there are two different rom updates depends on the rom chipset you have G3 or G4.

I'm stuck at the beginning of the dump process STEP 4 the commmand window gives me the error : "pdocread.exe is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

what the hack is the problem?
should it be my operating system fault? i have xp 64 bit sp2 ...should i use xp 32 bit? active sync is running fine though

* solved...i used the awizard utility (without using the pdocread command) succesfully, cid unlocked, and then dumped the rom and radio...

Anyone still have this dump? I don't need the rom to flash a device (I don't own one) but instead am looking to pull some of the OEM drivers from in it.
