Dear

I was looking long time in Google and forums and I couldn't find it (sorry), so I ask for it if any can post here.

-Works in WM6 flashed devices?
-Any translation to English available over there?

Thanks!
Sesaru

don't think there is one. Softbank are very hard to get MMS working (if that's what you're after). Try looking for Itame's posts on here or the Upgrading Forum. He knows quite a bit about Sofbank!!

Softbank has MMS working on the X01HT some time ago. There is no English translation though. Download link for the MMS Cab is here:

http://mb.softbank.jp/mb/support/X/product/x01ht/ That works only of you stay with original Softbank ROM.

There are is an easier way though to have MMS functionality.

I know that Webpage. But you need to have a Softbank ROM to download the CAB, and I don't have one! That's the reason I'm asking for it.

Also, if anybody can post the "My Softank for X Series" URL maybe I can manage to Download it.

Thanks!
Sesaru

PS: About English translation, I know Asukal made one, but the link don't work (><)

@chainbolt - How is the S!Mail program? I heard it was slow and stupid, so I never really tried it out. Is it worth trying? I am currently using MMSLite.

well, I have heard the same. As I am using a non-SoftBank Hermes here in Japan with an English ROM, I have never tried it. It anyway would not work on my Hermes because you need a Japanese based ROM to run it. I just download it out of curiosity. It's a big software package. I am using MMSLite (+ CEStar to get the Japanese fonts) without any problem since many months.

So, Can you post it here?

First I have to find the files, if I still have them, I could mail them to you.

@chainbolt - sounds like we are in similar situations.
I wonder, which mmslite build are you using?
I am using 265 and it runs without locking up. I have used 275 as well, and like the extra options it gives, but have heard it locks up sometimes. Apparently there is also a 292 somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it. I have been googling around, but haven't run across it yet. Any opinions/experiences from your end on mmslite builds?

I am also using 265 +CeStar, works like charm. I have tried once 275, but it did not install properly. I think 265 is the most stable version.

By the way, I found the "SoftBank Mail.cab" . If somebody wants it here, give me your mail address.

Sure, I love cabs. Hit me at larsuck at hotmail dot com. Appreciate it.

The only difference I have found bewteen 265 and 275 is the following: Sometimes someone will send you an MMS using your phone number instead of your email address. In 265, if you reply using the number, it gives you a reply stating that POP3, IMAP accounts cannot be used to send SMS. In 275, it looks up the number in your contacts list and gives you the opportunity to change the number to an email address.

Also, upon further research, it seems that build 280 and 292 are malware of a sort. Apparently, people install them and they wipe the password to the Softbank connection - and that's all it does.
Sounds like pretty weird malware if you asked me, but that's the scuttlebutt.

Hey Chainbolt, think you could fire that cab file to me too at mechbase at hotmail dot com?

Much thanks in advance...

I have it, and I have mailed it already to the OP. I will definitely not upload software that I don't own.

I understand. But I don't know why it is so hard to get. I don't speak/read Japanese well, and I have been struggling to find it through the web -- either on my PC or on my X01HT. I've never used "My Softbank" and I don't have a "My Softbank for X Series" favorite URL link in PIE anymore (I deleted all the preloaded favorites that I didn't think I would use). I found something that looked like My Softbank (it was mostly Japanese) on my X01HT, but it looked like the page was built for PC, not mobile phone . . . and it looked like I needed to enter a ID/PW. Do you have to enter a User ID to get into My Softbank for X series?

Did anyone else recieve an SMS from Softbank yesterday (9/10) warning X01HT users of additional costs for sending and recieving S!Mail and Internet Connectivity?

TheDaddy
11th September 2007, 04:32 AM
No, I didn't get it . . .

. . . but my SMS is spotty. I can never send SMS, and I wonder if sometimes I don't receive all of them (although all of my tests indicate that I am receiving everything OK). It's very frustrating -- everything is running smoothly for me with WM6, except for SMS.

larsuck
11th September 2007, 06:30 AM
Wow! Can't send SMS?
And I assume you are using a softbank sim card in Japan?
I have used a lot of ROMs and SMS is the one thing I have never had trouble with.

Are you using one of the ultra-lite roms that has stripped SMS/MMS out of the ROM?
Or perhaps are you using a non-standard SMS application? Like the Palm Threaded SMS or the like?

TheDaddy
11th September 2007, 08:08 AM
Yep, I'm using a Softbank SIM in Japan. But thanks for pushing me to troubleshoot a little more . . . I discovered that the problem is not with the phone, radio, or OS. It's the SIM. I swapped the SIM with my wife & suddenly her phone cannot send SMS & mine can. It's very strange because I can use every other data aspect of the phone -- web, email, MS Exchange, etc. Guess I need to go visit my friends at Softbank.

I'm pumped now, because SMS is really the only thing I need for messaging. I don't need MMS, because I can use POP mail.

My spideysense tells me that they are going to charge you for a new SIM card.

TheDaddy
11th September 2007, 11:15 AM
Yep, spideysense tells me the same thing. I never enjoy those visits to Softbank. Luckily, I have another unit I can put my SIM in . . . so I don't have to explain why my X01HT has English WM6 on it. Wish me luck. I'm a long-time (and corporate) customer, so hopefully it goes well.

Here you go!

The programme works fine. Its just a little slow when you have loads of mails. There is not English version (Actually, there is no English version!) Personally, I just use MMSlite. I have no problems with it under any of the newer roms.

I wish there was a way for the normal MMS mail to work with Softbank in Japan......

Here is build 275. Some previous ROMs were a bit unstable with this build (like Black 2.5,etc.). If your ROM gets weird after installing, ask me again and I'll post build 267, which is more stable but has less cool dodads.

edit - yep, it's running quite slow right now. Can you give me the other build?

The main issue I had with the Softbank S!mail software is that it is pretty much useless for English SMS messages... it only supports something like 50 English characters :(

larsuck
20th October 2007, 01:16 PM
Well, how many English characters are there?

can anyone post or PM me the mmslite built 2.65.... after I upraded my 750v (Cheetah) to WM6, mmslite 2.75 seems not to work. can receive but cannot send.

any experience on how to fix with 2.75 is also appreciated.

thanks v much

Here is 265. 275 really only has two small upgrades - the first being the option to open the email directly from the notification, the second being the option of calling up someone's email address from contacts when you can't sent an MMS using their phone number as address - so if 265 is more stable for you then you might just stick with that.

Hello there!

I just bought an X02HT from Softbank, but I'm having a lot of problems with the S! Mail (MMS): It takes eons to send one. All I got is either a "Preparing to send" or no response at all and the messages stay in the "Not sent yet" folder forever. Sometimes, after one hour, the messages sent themselves, but this is non-sense I think.

Is this behavior normal for this phone? I sent a couple of messages succesfully and instantly using other softbank phones in the same place.

BTW, I tried to install MMSLite, but I always get the following error: "Error setting the registry" (or something like that, it's in Japanese). Do I need to do something before installing it?

Thank you very much. I'm a newbie in smartphones (1 day and counting).
