Bricked my G4!

Wow, what an awesome night this has been. Busted out my used MDA that I paid $180 for, didn't register in back of my head as I saw it boot with IPL/SPL 2.260001 even though I read that meant its a G4. Tried to downgrade it to button 1.05, ROM said wouldent work with my device, another clue that fell on dead ears as I went straight to flashing it with another program. Its totally bricked, not I need to go into bootloder and flash bricked but now a $180 paperweight. I think ill contact HTC, see if its still under warranty or if they have a repair service or maybe sell on ebay at loss. Auesomeness. :)

download this "update" and flash your wizard with it in bootloader mode. Should fix the problem.

No...mikejj2004's Wizard should be completely bricked that can't even power on due to flashing incorrect IPL and SPL to a G4 Wizard.

Is there absolutely no way you can get the phone to bootloader mode? what I would reccomend is try pulling the battery out untill the screen goes black and then put it back in then plug the phone in and charge it till the light turns green and then hold the camera button while pressing the power button to get back to bootloader and load manufacturer rom.

Maybe I read wrong and you have already tried to get back to bootloader but if not then I would give it a try. As long as phone can make it to bootloader and has more than 50% charge, you can get it back to manufacturer's rom.

P.S. Please from now on, ALWAYS read all directions and warnings before attempting to do something you may not understand. That is how these kind of things happen and I would say it sucks to be the proud owner of a $180 paper weight.

mikes device is totally gone. happend to me last week. luckily i still had a nice amount of time left in my warranty so AT&T gave me a replacement yesterday.

thats how i did it.

charged the battery at in my friends wizard, put the battery in, held down the camera button and switched it on, voila rainbow screen.

Then i just ran the original O2 upgrade utility.

Not just once!

pkoper, you don't understand the difference between battery failure and bricking.

If a device is bricked due to flashing G3 IPL to G4 wizard, the G3 IPL cannot commuicate with G4 chip and tell it to power on, so the device is RIP whatever you are trying to do unless reprogram the G4 chip using a external JTAG connecter.

beleive it or not, they gave me a warranty exchange for an eBay bought phone. :D

had warranty on the phone prior, and they didn't recognize that I was 'warrantying' a differn't phone. Either they screwed up, or they don't care - I got a warranty exchange on an eBay bought phone.

i have read over the wiki that if it has 3 zeros "000" after 2.xx. then
it is still a G4 device..

then in your post, you have bricked your G4 device with 2.26.0001..

it is contradicting whats written in the wiki..

my fone has these:

IPL/SPL 2.26.0001
GSm 2.25.11
OS 2.26.10.2

is it a G3 or G4?

i just bought a new fone.. t-mobile

my fone reads:

ROM version: 2.26.10.2 WWE
ROM date: 6/7/06
Radio version: 02.25.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version: 2.26.10.105

i reseted my fone, i got:

IPL/SPL 2.26.0001
GSM 2.25.11
OS 2.26.10.2

others says 2.26.0001 is a G4, but in the wiki it says its still G3..
am confused.. is my device G3 or G4?

'Note: Some people might be confused by the fact that it says G3s only have 2 zeros. That is in reference to the part AFTER is says "or". If you have 2.26 has you IPL and SPL then you have a G3 Wizard.'



the last line there says that if it has an SPL/IPL of 2.26. it is still a G3 device..

the wiki states that phones with "2.xx" would be g3. A wizard with "2.xx.000x" would be g4.
Notice the lack of trailing zeros.
Always Always Always If your phone's ipl/spl ends with .000x it is G4.

As long as you can get into the bootloader screen theres a good chance it can be saved... Press the Camera button then turn it on, there should be a rainbow screen, if you get that you're golden. Get a rom called 'Wizard Love' or your original operator rom and flash it, it'll work.
