You can make your Touch Cube go faster or slower by changing the registry values for:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>HTC>Biotouch>Biotouch>DownFPS
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>HTC>Biotouch>Biotouch>LeftRightFPS
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>HTC>Biotouch>Biotouch>UpFPS

FPS stands for "Frames Per Second" so setting each of those entries to 60 will make the cube flow very fast, almost as fast as your finger goes across the screen. Don't know if anyone else would prefer it to go faster, but I like the increased speed when navigating it.

Setting the number lower will slow it down.

No reset required, btw.

I got here from another page and it presented the link to here and the link to the flash version of the cube as if they were both for the same program (IOW, there was one link to the flash cube version for the hermes, and then to here as if this thread was for modifying the flash version of the program)

OK, so I'm a bit confused. I have an HTC hermes. I have installed the cube app and it works reasonably well, though ever since I installed it my WM5 has slowed to a crawl even after reboot... but thats another issue.

So anyway, the default Cube that comes with the app is a 5-sided cube essentially:
Phone
Contacts
Progs
Office
Settings

So, if I want to customize the animations and the skin, I then only get a 3 sided cube? (apps media hub, contacts)

I was hoping to somehow look at the default cube and animations that came with the cube, but I have no idea where they are. There are no .brn files on my system at all. I guess they are embedded in the flash program.

So is there any way to skin this so it looks like the original but with a different skin (IOW, 5-sided)?

Unfortunately the flash version that is out there does not support skinning like the default version. You might want to look at Kona_Mtbkr's TFloCubeControl as it does allow for skinning. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343583

I was wondering how to change the background of the cube. I installed one of your cabs to my phone and it changed two sides but one was left normal. I like the Louis V and can roll with that if I can not learn how to do it myself, but if I could I'd have all sides gucci. It would be cool if I knew how to create all that stuff but being realistic I know no one has the time or patience to show me how to do it so it it is not too much, could you come up with a cab that turns all sides of the cube into gucci or Louis V. Which ever you are cool with. Thanks alot for your time and patience.

All the files are basically the .brn files in your /windows directory on your mobile phone.

If the author provides you with the source images you can basically generate your own stuff; or find one you like...

Basically can make your own in Photoshop; save out the BMP's in the A0.bmp A1.bmp A2.bmp formats; then use the fancy DevilInside BMP-->BRN application on the 1st post of this thread.

You can also play around with Carlos's new version of customizing application which is JUST now starting to support animations...

So if you don't feel like diving all the way in; you can probably wait a few days for a solid release of his application and then just pick the animation; icon; backgrounds; and change out all your application links to whatever you wanted using the cube mod tool he's worked on...

I'm assuming that the reason that just 1 or 2 of the screens are not updating is because Mediahub was still running; try killing the process of all that stuff and then copy all the .brns over again; soft reset and check it out...

Both the ApLauncher and the media hub icon blanks are in the thread. Just ask that any icons you come up with you post in the thread. That way we can have all the icons in one place.

this is what I do when Total Commander won't let me just copy them in:

rename the new files something slightly different (ie QD_Bknda.brn instead of QD_Bknd.brn)

place the new files in your \Windows directory using Total Commander

rename the new files to what you actually want them to be (QD_Bknd.brn)

Go to File>Reload dir

The new files will now have the correct names, and the old files will be placed in a new directory in \Windows (\Windows\QD_Bknd.brn\QD_Bknd.brn)

To make the barrel work with the 6 sided cube:

Make a copy of C0.brn-C5.brn and C01.brn-C05.brn and rename it F0.brn-F5.brn and F01.brn-F05.brn

Make 3 copies of B0.brn-B5.brn and B01.brn-B05.brn and rename them C0.brn-C5.brn and C01.brn-C05.brn as well as D0.brn-D5.brn and D01.brn-D05.brn and E0.brn-E5.brn and E01.brn-E05.brn

You may want to use a "blanked-out" version of the animation.

Still use Total Commander; only this Time...Go and get Memaid or simlar and kill the Mediahub.exe and even Touchflo.exe if just the 1st one doesn't work. You need something with a "bigboy" task manger that shows everything process that's running so you can kill it...

Copy them over using Total Commander...Then soft reset.

Let us know if that works...

I'm having trouble getting the hang of creating icons for this most excellent utility. I am creating the bitmaps. I'm saving them with the special settings identified earlier in this thread. I'm converting them to brn's with bmp2brn, editing the registry and all that good stuff. But when I load the cube, the image is either distorted (middle top) or non-existant (skype).

Has anyone else ever see this, especially the distortion issue? The icons are being saved at 80x80.

I absolutely love this cube creation. The problem I am having is the "photo, video, and music" side comes up almost fine...the words are written twice kinda overlapping eachother. The pictures come up fine though. The contacts side is awesome no problem. But the side that launches all the applications while the cube is turning comes up fine but when the cube is stationary on that side it goes back to the default images. Can anyone tell me why that is?

Hope this helps everybody out. I've been using this to customize the skin on my Sprint HTC Touch. It's a bit more user friendly than the command line app, and also converts both ways - from bmp -> brn and from brn -> bmp.

Did you drop it on the glassy icon? because if yo drop it on the rest of the program it doesn't work and it's a converter that works on the pc for the ppc :P

I think I have the same problem. I bought my phone in Canada (a Rogers version) so it must be a Canadian conspiracy ;)

Do you get the application screen running fine and then it switches back quickly to the default? If so, I think the problem is that because the animations for that screen are png files and in our version they are brn files, you need to get rid of the brn files of the same name (i.e. back them up). I'm having trouble doing this, as every time I try and delete them, they just come back. I think the next step is to get a good file explorer and try again. It's gonna have to wait till morning I'm afraid though

I'm referring to the Brn converter posted by jmathies I think. The blurr problem happens when I use the exe file by devil inside.

i think your problem is that you havn´t changed the *.png files. copy the png files from the zip to the windows directory, this should solve your problem.

i don´t think that the problem depends on the 1940 theme, the 1940 icon files have nearly the same size then the original ones.

I have the "original" UK Touch (Orange UK software version). WM6 Professional. CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3). 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM. I also have an 8gb microSD installed.
And you're quite right, I don't think it was particularly related to the 1940s theme, just it was the first I have tried, and after the memory problems I suffered afterwards, I am reluctant to try installing a new 4-sided or 6-sided, or iCube etc..

I just got the Touch a few days ago and I am working on getting all of the touch flow stuff customized. I would like to use APLauncher without rotation icons by Biffert, but so far I am unable to copy files to the /Windows folder. Is there a separate program I should be using to replace the .brn files?

so here it is, my Old Tech Theme.

Installation:

1.Copy all files in this ZIP to your device.

2.Move them via Total Commander for PPC into the Windows directory of your device

3.Use the Touch Settings programm from carlosp_uk (http://ww2.fatattitude.com/software/)
to change which button launches which programm.
Notice: Delete the entry by the Parameter "NAME"!

i've changed mediahub this way:

1- Other
\Storage Card\Programs\TCPMP\Player.exe
2. left equal
3.\Windows\Audiomanager.exe


4. Soft Reset your device

5. That's all

the oldtech_mediplay.zip contains the files of the htc audiomanger while playing in the cube

Dude try IMEI changing tool but change it to your original imei no. that you must be having on ur Device Bill or the box......

Try this one. It works perfectly. Just drop the bmp files into the upper glossy box, and voila! brn's ready to go!!

im making an icon for Games and put it as a button on the cube.

anyone know the path for it? i found out Games is under Programs and i found out the path for the programs but not for the games. i want to be able to access all my games from the icon i created.

I have a small glitch using the red snake icons. In the email/sms/ie/etc... section the original icons supercedes the red snake icons.. Have I missed something? I am pretty new to the touch so maybe I forgot 1 important step. The other 2 screens (contacts and music/photo/video are working fine).

Just to let you know that the new version (v2.2) of Touch Settings can now function as a customization tool for the iCube skin.. ..it's still in beta, animation is not yet fully enabled, but you can move all the icons around / change apps / change icons / etc.

Feedback always welcome over in the Touch Settings thread! Also read this thread for notes about the app, and remember to always back up your registry first!

you don't unlock any protection.... the problem is the program you are using to copy files..

1) windows explorer is unable to write file in ROM.
2) total commander can write files in rom

you must change program to write files... from WM explorer to total commander

I have a new O2 Orbit 2 XDA which had the cube software preinstalled.

I have now installed the 'Touch Settings 2.25' and when i goto the 'APLauncher' tab and click on the LAYOUT section it displays that my HTC Touch Software is not recent enough to support custom layouts.

How can i find out what "version" of the cube software i am running and how does one obtain an update.

As a consequence the Touch Settings software is running in "Debug" mode.

Any help appriciated.

i have downloaded a zip with some BRN files here wich i want to install.

I copy the brn files into my /windows/ folder.
i reboot my device (HTC Touch dual)
start it up and launch touchflow, but its the same old animation, what am i doing wrong?

Can someone tell me how i can replace the icons of the cube, i have download a lot of your icons, but i can't find where i have to put them and how i must named them.

Depends on which icons.

The MH/app launcher icons should go in the windows directory, where the transition effect (*.brns) go depends on registry settings. I have mine linked to the Ext_ROM, but i believe that on a Touch, they should go in the windows dir by default.

Can someone post the original red icons, NOT PINK, for the HTC home plugin?? The PNGs in windows folder started by "HH_".
My touch came with red icons, but i acidentally replaced them and forgot to backup first!! I really dont want to do an hard reset just because of that :\ ..

I have one question, if I make a hard reset, the phone will be as whem bought, and the original icons will be there, right !? If this is true, they should be somewhere in the phone backed up, right?? Is there a way to access it !! I tried \rom but dosn't have any png , is there other place to look????

Umm... the hard reset resets the files from the Disc on Chip memory. the images will be there, but as a string of bits, and so will not be easy to decipher. It would be much easier to back up everything and then hard reset, and then restore everything...

I would personally back up files through acivesync (just copy and paste them) and PIM through outlook and/or PIM Backup... I would give you the cab, but i can't find it right now...

Thanx for the amazing work done. I've installed everything according to your thread and it works perfectly. (I didn't make a backup of the original files before overwriting them...Is that a problem?)

One small question: When I'm "browsing" through the cube, all pictures have a small (dutch) description placed on top of them.
Eg: The Globe (for Internet Explorer) has written "Internet Explorer" over it. The screencaps in your thread don't show these "descriptions" so I'm wondering how I can disable them.
(eg. The entry before mine shows 6 icons. Bottom right the calendar icon is shown, with also written "Calendar" on top of the icon. How can I disable the description?)

Some help and advice would be very welcome!

Registry settings... Or, Rename the normal one AL_02.png, and put it in the windows directory, and the pressed icon should be called this: AL_02_HL.png and should als0o be put in the windows directory. Then soft reset.

I have a new O2 Orbit 2 XDA which had the cube software preinstalled.

I have now installed the 'Touch Settings 2.25' and when i goto the 'APLauncher' tab and click on the LAYOUT section it displays that my HTC Touch Software is not recent enough to support custom layouts.

How can i find out what "version" of the cube software i am running and how does one obtain an update.

As a consequence the Touch Settings software is running in "Debug" mode.

Any help appriciated.

mmm, i don't really want to reflash the whole ROM, i would just like to too if there is a version i need to download of the cube which solves the issues i have.

Having checked the registry (thanks for the pointer), i am running version 2.0.29087 of biotouch.

So, what would i need to avoid the issue that when i goto the 'APLauncher' tab and click on the LAYOUT section of 'Touch Settings 2.25' it displays that my HTC Touch Software is not recent enough to support custom layouts. Plus as mentioned this has a consequence that the Touch Settings software is running in "Debug" mode.

I was wondering, though, would it be at all possible to complement the overall LV appearance with appropriate PCM Keyboard v.013 and PCM Contact v.20.b themes??? Could anybody do something like that???

Apparently, in the latest ROM for MDA Touch (2.26.114.52 NLD), the files for the animations are changed. Better said, there's more of them. And the normal png icons are now brn's aswel.

Could someone with the same version ROM, just the unbranded HTC version, upload the new brn and png files needed? Can't stand the pink ones, but half blue half pink is even worse. Btw, I've got an Elfin.

ok so i have the CDMA Touch. i can get the files in my windows folder and softreset but then the animation does not look right. it happens in like a split second and it just looks bad. i'm not sure if i'm doing anything wrong or if it's just my phone. anyone have any idea. i tried a few different anims with same results. If i knew how to record my screen i would and post here but i don't know of or have a software to do this.

You don't need them ;)
As I wrote in the first post:
To revert back simply delete the .brn files you have overwritten from your phone and the original ROM files will come back again.
Don't worry - you won't be able to delete the ROM files

Total Commander says it cannot delete all of the .brn files...

you only can "delete" the files that you have overwritten.
And yes, if you have overwritten .png files you also have to delete them.

If you have an original ROM the best way is to sort the files in the windows directory by date. Then it's easy to see which ones you have modified.

Total Commander will give you an error if you try to delete an original (unmodified) ROM file.

A reboot helps if (in rare cases) there is a problem in deleting a known modified file.

Doesn't seem to be as easy as this.

The Comm Manager has a really ugly default color within my modified rom.
I've deleted ALL .brn and .png files, which have been able to.
I've tried to delete all of them again after a fresh reboot.
Anyway, the Phonepad and the Comm Manager still remain their ugly colors/items (because they are original files of the ROM).

arent there any packages with the original htc colored .brn/.png files so that I can try to overwrite them?

Hello, and because I'm new here, many thanks to all the guys who gave already so much support.

I allready read a lot of pages here in the forum, but I didn't find the answer, so hopefully I don't ask the second time.

I have replaced all the icons in my MDA Touch from this f... Telekom Magenta into original HTC colors. Now I've got a second phone (for business reasons) and I get a MDA Touch XL. I did the same procedure on it and all the colors except the appl launcher have changed. I realised that in rom version 2.61 the icons of the AL are not any more .png, they are now .brn files which are, in my mind, stored in the rom. Does anybody have an idea to change the colors without flashing the complete rom. Thanks in advance, Achim

I had this problem once after I'd used and uninstalled touch settings. It had changed the animation type itself before I uninstalled, so a simple reinstall allowed me to change it back to normal and then I was able to uninstall again...so might work for you.

Now the programs supports 24 bit images as well.

I don't know what was going on but I gave up all together on linking the files and just dove right in and edited the .brn files directly which worked better because I could change the animations as well. I went ahead and attached the .psd files and .brn files. If guys like them well you know what to do with em'!!

the 4d cube ratation is really fast.. i dont really see a smooth overflow.. i installed the cab but also tried it by replacing the brn manual.. does someone know how tot slow down these rotations??

The image will be converted, and an image of the same name (but other type) will be created in the same directory.

Now you can design animated skins, i launched my photoshop and
started to design a new touch flo interface in refreshing green.

Will keep working on it if my touch will come back from the shop :-/

you must use a program such as total commander to unlock the copy protection of the files.
I'm using TC but it won't let me unlock the files on my HTC Touch. Any suggestions on how to do this? Thank you.

I'd also like to have this explained. I went into the registry and changed the leftrightFPS but it doesn't seem to make any difference. If I go back the standard cube animation I notice the change but not with the 4d.

Alright, So far I've got things working the way I want them. I've got the cube speed down, I've got some program and icon changes. One issue that I am having though that I need help fixing is that when the 4d cube rotates the original icons display but once it stops the current icons display. I know this question has been asked before but I am unable to find the solution. Here is what I've done.

Loaded 4d cube
loaded icon
renamed icon and placed in in the windows directory so that it saves over the old icon


Everything is working correctly other than the displayed icons during animation.

Hey Guy's I got a favor if its possible?

Can one of you guy's put together a self installer of the best mods on post #7 that has all the downloadable files?

I am not so savoy, and need a little help, just looking to deck out my htc touch with some cool app's but having trouble figuring out what zip files work with which other ones, kinda like information overload....and i am plagued by, if i install a half dozen files and i gwt errors or other problems then i may have to do a hard reset to start over from scratch....as i have now done 3 times in as many days.
