Been real happy with it...thansk for hardwork.

Haved experinced GSM radio crashes (only when i call 800 #'s..weird, maybe just coincidence) and some sync problems with WMDC, but thik i know what it causing latter. No BT issues or WI-FI issues, but have not used WI-FI that much. I am not able to log onto windows live messenger. I get message "there's a connectivity problem. make sure you're in an area with good reception and try again." But I am connecting at 3G so not sure what i am doing wrong. Dont know if rom issue or "pilot error"..lol.

But what is the quality of the sound of the mp3s..........very bad low volume mono, with hiss, is what I get.

It was just a cosmetic glitch though, all the plugins functioned correctly. Although maybe you could make the Comm manager plugin clickable again, so it would open the Manager, like in JMWrightCPS(did I spell that right?)'s ROM.

A very nice ROM indeed. I'm having problems with my ringtone, sound notifications don't play back at times, it has frozen on me only a couple of times (mostly when using BT to send files), sometimes all sound gets routed to my BT hands-free instead of only the calls, the hands-free's button does not invoke the Cyberon voice dial (v2), the known buttons bug is there, the messages today plugin stays highlighted even after tapped, hardware cursor buttons skip half the today screen plugins.

In general, most of these bugs are known and under rectification, the rest are too minor to pay attention to. However I have a serious problem with IE. I have cookies enabled, I try to login to WordPress to post to my blog (which I could do with the 9000's native Greek ACE Hellas ROM and WM5's PIE) and I get a no cookies enabled message from the server.

Guys, please do something, one of the crucial reasons for using my Uni is for blogging... I'd greatly appreciate looking into it:)

Now prior to this, if I want to call the person back, I'd just press the Green call soft button and voila but that doesn't work here. Pressing the Green call Hardware button doesn't help either.

The following issues found after using 2 weeks of ver3:
1. low batt at 60%. Tested with 2 batteries.
2. set heat up easily if listen to music with screen switch off
3. play music with window media, coreplayer, pocket music player, music tend to pause frequently. Using together with bluetooth headset. Never happen with v0.5.
4. reselect programs into Menu screen, those programs stored in storage card shows as blank icons thou it still can be used.
5. could not redial when press green button. have to select from history.

Other then above, I happy with the ROM.

Ver 4 will be released on the 1 st November and GSM Crash has been resolved.

I never had the GSM crashing issues, but Laurentius (who has had a few) assures me the error is resolved (at least for him anyway.............Small Disclaimer)

that happened to me the last time too. I think it was because I set outlook to replace data on desktop in case of conflicts. And it did; replacing all my data with NOTHING!

Go check to see if ur outlook data is still there. *touchwood*!

I had the same problems and I found that if you deselect contacts in options then syncronize again, then go into options and reselect contacts again. if you syncronize once more your contacts will be there. works every time for me.

I have been installing all ROMS which came out the past 8 months or so, just for fun and to try them and succeed to think I have reached the ideal, in vain.
This latest one is, in my humble opinion, less fluid than your 2.05.00 with radio 1.15.0.

You and your team are doing a great job, these are my observations, not remarks, over the 2.07.00 with radio 1.18.0
Hope I’ll be forgiven, LOL.
1. I would have preferred the ROM, without any preinstalled games. No Sudoku. You may want to post along side, a zip file with extras.
2. Sometimes, the screen freezes and the machine stops working. No explanation to it. Have to RESET.
3. The green button of the phone dialling does not work. I replaced installation when I read that all buttons are now fixed. Not yet actually.
4. Is the USB HDD a real plus? I wonder.

can someone please extract and post the 10 or so new ringtones from this ROM (Ring-Kinetic, Ring-Dopod etc. etc.) or send them to me at panic@gmx.de . Somehow, I can't copy them within the phone, it says they are locked in ROM/RAM and they are hidden system files. Lots of cunfusion.

I would like to assign them to text messages etc. but it does not work.

(But yes, actually all the files were present there in that folder, but were hidden). In my Windows XP system, even the Tools-Folder Options-View-Show Hidden files and folders didn't help in showing the files.

How to remove the 'Hidden' property from these files??

Here is my workaround solution:

1. Connect your Universal to your PC using Active Sync
2. Copy the entire extracted folder 'Ringtones' to your Universal.
3. Now when you browse to that folder in your Universal (using your PC) you will be able to see all the files. You right click to view the file Properties - which will show that they are 'Hidden' But you cannot edit the properties.

I observed that it was not possible using file explorer of XP / Vista....

But once you copied the folder in your Universal.... you can see the hidden files using the built in File Explorer also. For this:
1. you require to go the folder where you were able to see only one file - Ring-Dopod. (After you copied the folder to your Universal)
2. Click and hold the stylus on the screen (empty area - not on the file)
3. When the options pop-up comes up, select "Show all files"
.... and ...... all files are displayed........

Also, using Resco Explorer I was able to view them.... but in Resco Explorer settings.... it should be set as : - Menu - Options- General- (Hide hidden files, Unchecked)

I'm using Leo and Beast's latest v3 ROM

But Yes, the workaround is helpful in making the files unhidden in the PC also.... :-)

Can 30 secs, 1 min, 1.5 min 2,3,4,5 minutes be added to the list. i like using my uni at night without the room lights on, but a 10 scond timeout is stupid and i keep missing the buttons.

I know you can alter it through the registry.

Also can you add a check box in to allow you to turn the keyboard light on even during the day, so i can show my phone off. lol

update to the problems i'm facing with this rom :

1) frequency of radio crashes has increased..

2) bluetooth file transfer usually hangs the phone at 3-4 % of transfer

3) when i get incoming calls, sometimes, the phone hangs while vibrating, then if i don't check it, it just keeps vibrating with no response. my battery drained to zero % when i checkd dis morning my phone was continuosly vibrating with no response on touch or nething..

4) battery update seems slow.. sometimes when i switch on my phone from standby it suddenly gives low batt warning and then after 5-6 seconds or 15 seconds the battery status is updated to 50 % or whatever the real battery status is..its even switched off my radio a couple of times..very irritating..

Only in most cases/people the problem is solved with a new battery.

In my case, I have tried 3 different batteries with all the same result (frequent and random crashes, mainly right after booting)

It is a bug with the Rom, it works with some devices and not others.

Will be fixed in next release.

Stupid question, maybe but.. since on feb 2008 Wm6.1 *should* come out, i'm wondering if a rom with upgrades could be developed for universal either.

I don't know how WM rom developing and upgrading works, that's why i'm asking.

1st of all, thanx for the exciting ROM

I encountered several problems in this ROM, I hope I can share out for the improvement of the upcoming ROMs and, if lucky enough, can find some solutions.

Issues:

1. I encounter difficulties in reseting, I always need to reset it twice or 3x in order to get back to work, it either freezes at "Dopod" logo with the tiny red lines or freezes at the green "Windows Mobile" screen. Yes, it eventually be able to be resetted but need to prick the reset hole 2-3 times

2. The battery heat up v. quicky, the AE button monitor told me it's up to 42C. I can actually feel it's warmth.

3. The WiFi still occasionally crashes, I needa reset the machine, again need to prick the hole for 2-3 times before I can enter the normal today screen

4. Sometimes failed to active syn..... freeze again

But generally, by weighting the pros and cons, I still love it much, thank you once again.
hope my experience can help and see if there's any remedies to my problems

P.S.> regarding the coming new ROM on 1st of Nov, I wonder if I can restore my things in the current ROM directly on to the new one after I flashed, pls give me some hints. THank you

I encountered several BUGs on my QTEK9000 after updating with the last rom.

1. Using hardware button CALL, it's unable to dial a phone currently displayed in last call ; neither with "Talk". You must hide keypad and then dial the phone

2. Problem with displaying "remaining battery" after stand by, in most cases displays below 50% and suddenly turns over 80%, it may be the device or the battery, but i didn't notice it on WM5 with both batteries, 1600mAh and 3200 mAh.

3. 2 Wireless ON/OFF signs

4. External GPS don't work... i tried it many times with different GPS devices but with no success... GPS Proxy works...

5. I'm sure i've missed something... great work people.

Is your device SuperCid if not, please do so, and re-flash your Radio along with the Rom.

I use to have a nokia 9000 and it had 2 great feautures, 1: it had a keypad and screen on the outside of the phone, and 2 it had a setting where you could type a SMS and set a time to send it. some people dont appreciate recieving a Text at 3 in the morning when i type them. is that a feature that could be added.

Also i get the feeling that there are a lot of lazy people that cannot be bothered reading the thread or the title. i did it , it took a while but was worth it. (a note to those who haven't yet)

I have O2 Xda Exec, BT Gps Holux, BT Hands Free Nokia. When im using TomTom navigator at Exec and have BT Hands free on. When i get call and i'm speaking with BT handsfree Tomtom navigation stops and screen are not updating and i can't follow where to drive. When im hang call tomtom start updating normal. With original Exec WM5 firmware Tomtom was updating routing normally when i was speaking in phone with BT handsfree?

I have this yours latest V3 firmware and its very great.

I have read all messages in this thread and i'm wondering if this is because there is some issues with BT? Hope this is fixed in next release.

I've tried mosts WM6 cooked versions and I have to say that B&L seems to have been the most stable for my qtek9000. Still I'm having these GSM crashes where the radio just looses reception. So I try to turn off the radio (flightmode) but nothign helps instead the radio and phone part of the software just seems to have locked it self.
Is this a problem you're worjing on solving in the next version?

How much of a problem is memory leaks in the new version? :confused:

Last question; There was one version with videocall, how come it's taken away in the new one? :confused:

Guess I should be returning to WM5 with its stability and no memory leaks (and mms and videocall working) but I just cant stand its low speed and really ugly screen...

1.) Can't received 3G incoming call, phone wont display incoming call and ringing

2.) When make 3G call, immediatly have voice incoming call, i need to press answer than can make 3G call, if not will can't make 3G call.

But, I am trying to install linux GPE and when I start linux (RAMDISK) for creating partitions on memory card it always reboot, like it has a crash, before that I finish the job. It has never happened in the past when I tried to do the same lots months ago with the latest wm5 by I-Mate. In another post a user told me that it could be a wm6 issue, is it true? I thought that Linux in PPC it is not emulated, so does not matter wich ROM I have, but maybe I am wrong. Some advice please?!

Nobody knows!

It is a mystery and what everybody seems to know that it has something to do with memory management.

How to tell if your device (Universal) is G3 or G4 is by looking at the bootloader version.

If the bootloader version is less than 2, than it is a G3 device. Devices with bootloader versions higher than 2 are G4.

Thus, the G3 can have an extra available ROM as Flash Disk up to 22MB.

Hope this makes sense! :)

I currently have a G4 so am unable to test flashddrive...........sorry........Leo may be more willing to assist with his G3......... you'll have to beg him.

Currently there will be three "Flavours" released on the first..........

Full Flavour as much as we could cram into our tiny little Roms......... space was so tight we had to remove RGUs............. but don't panic I will supply everything.....

Pure Vanilla, std Rom only Office included.

Business, our usual set of apps, Vanilla + WLive, PimBackup , Dialer Skin and BT Tools.

I'll upload a couple of screenshots tonight if I get time.

BT should be fixed with the new release.

Hi,

This is a known issue with the SDHC drivers.
Since you do not have an SDHC card, when the system suspends, the card appears to disappear.

This is fixed in the latest release, thanks to JWRightMCPS's application that allows users to switch between Std SD Card Drivers and SDHC Card drivers.

Yes the Rom has BT Printing support included, as well as BT Disk, BT FTP, BT Remote Sim Access, BT Keyboard, BT Mouse, and fully working A2DP (Tested and loving my Moto HT 820 now)

VideoCall will not be included in our latest update.

The sole purpose of this latest update is to attempt to provide a very stable Rom with little (hopefully no) bugs.:eek:

We will not be releasing our latest build as yet, as I said above, we are trying to make a stable Rom.

More information will be released shortly.

The notification for an incoming call always reverts to the default setting regardless of how you set it in the phone's options or in Settings > Personal > Notifications. Also, it doesn't actually ring. It either vibrates or is on silent ring. I've even tried amending the registry key where this setting is stored but the value I input isn't stored, it just reverts back when I refresh the registry.

Any ideas?

Once again, Universal ROMs available on this forum, either here or in other threads, are not meant to be suitable for any devices around. They are to be flashed to HTC Universal devices only (in fact, its branded variations, like O2 Xda Exec, i-mate Jasjar, SPV-M5000, Dopod 900, Qtek 9000, etc.). Don't flash this ROM into your iPaq. It will, most probably, brick it.

Hey, I just upgraded to this rom on my Qtek 9000, which I am using with Cingular, I just got the 3G card which should allow me access to their 3g network.

But all I am getting is normal GPRS speed for a Qtek which is 40-42 kbps instead of 378 kbps or something like that.

I need help getting this Qtek to have 3G speed on the Cingular network.

I flashed this ROM and its working fine but the problem is when the device sleeps I cannot wake it up through the power button I have to remove the battary and place it back and reset it :(

This is currently my favourite ROM and is now working fine for all the things I need. Thank you B&L. I tried some other ROMs and along the way learnt a few lessons that may be of use to others:

I did seem to be regularly seeing the SD card go to sleep or be lost, as the icons for anything installed onto SD would regularly disappear. Removing and reinserting the SD card would bring then back again. I changed the SD card from a 2GB Kingston to a 2GB datawrite and it now all works fine, with no lost icons. Subjectively it also seems that the radio no longer regularly looses its signal. I suspect this was also related to the SD card issue, perhaps it was using a lot of cpu time when the SD card went to sleep. The 2GB SD cards are all made to slightly different standards and this is not the first time I have had compatibility issues with them. Try a different card if you have similar issues.

During ROM flashing I had that 'Error 114' indicating that it could not flash the device. The PC seemed to be communicating to the PDA OK since the PDA would start to go into its flash programming mode. It is interesting that the guides were right about making sure you have a direct USB connection from PC to PDA. I was connected via a hub and even though they communicated OK it wasn't good enough for flashing. As soon as I made a more direct connection everything flashed with no errors.

I tried installing real_VGA: lesson 3: install the program and fonts to device memory not SD card as when I tried to change resolution the PDA would then not run - it got stuck just after the home screen - it looked like it was running out of memory somewhere and I couldn't run any program so could not change it back again. A soft reset didn't work either - so back to a hard reset and I tried doing a restore using SPV backup:-

Lessons4: SPB backup doesn't seem to working correctly with these modified ROMs. The program runs but when I did a full restore of everything from backup to a hard reset device (see previous paragraph) then I found that active sync didn't work and programs wouldn't install. After re-flashing the device it was all ok again.

I have realVGA installed and running ok now (only bothered with 128p fonts)and it now runs ok and looks good on the home screen and 'start-programs' but I've now decided its a bit of a gimmick and doesn't actually give you much increased functionality since internet explorer, Opera, GoogleMaps etc all give you full VGA resolution anyhow and a number of programs (e.g. worldmatepro) don't work correctly with it.

I tried the thingonastring recent ROM (NEW VERSION 3.2 thingonaspring.5.2.1933.18533.REALVGA ) but have changed back to the B&L ROM here as it seemed to offer the right balance of features versus memory used. Just my opinion.

You're in the wrong forum. In general, whenever you see a "Universal" ROM here at xda-developers, it's not meant to be flashed on any devices. It's intended to the HTC Universal (in fact, its branded machines, like O2 Xda Exec, i-Mate Jasjar, Dopop 900, Qtek 9000, etc.).

Your O2 Xda Neo is the same as the HTC Prophet. Please, take a look a the wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Prophet) for further informations.

But cannot find any working download site...
