I am installing "Google Navigator 2.4" and it leaves me the following message in the screen: "Current ROM driver is not support Direct 3D feature!. You can try to fixthis this problem by update a new ROM for your device". ¿Can you solve?, or I must return to another previous version.
Version 3.3
Thanks

Wow, this program looks pretty darn cool. If anyone has any idea on how to get it to work that would be awesome. I sure would not mind a GPS navigation google earth. It could give my Tomtom a run for its money, since the maps are always free and up to date ^^

I know that Direct3d on the p3600 can be very picky on what options you use to create the device and I'm guessing he might have used the default D3DMFMT_D16.

So which rom version does this program work with, if any? (possibly a link to the rom download for that particular rom would be nice too if it is available)

Awesome! I can not wait to try it out. We should send the developer an email and have him integrate the Google traffic information into his program. I wonder if that is in his plans.

I have the same D3X issue , but like the saying goes "All good things come to those who wait..."
The feature I'm most interested in is:
"Send the GPS position or the Selected position by SMS ,MMS and email. (NEW!)"
Anybody know of other programs that allow you to send a Google Map link that shows you exactly where you are to others ?

I have been following this post even though I dont have
a phone. I do however have a mio p550 pda with pocket pc 5 and have the same problems with 3D. I suspect it may not work on any pda with pc5?
Back in August I also had an e-mail from the author saying he was writing program that does not need direct3d. I sent him a reminder but no response.
Obviously will post if I get a reply. If any other miop550 users have found
a workaround then please make contact.

Forgive my lack of knowledge but I'm pulling at threads here. I read in the Hermes forum that Schap's cooked a rom with DIRECT3D support in it and that Google Navigator works on his rom. Is there any way to port his rom over to the Trinity? Perhaps we can finally get this to work on our devices. I am not a cook so I have very little knowledge on this but maybe someone with more knowledge can figure it out. Perhaps Schap's has a cab file or something.
Here is the link to the post:

(scroll down towards the bottom of the page and you will see the post directly from Schap's).

The good news - I actually got the application working on my phone.
The bad news - it's so slow you can't use it.
I extracted the direct3d driver (d3dmref.dll) from Schap's wm6 Pro rc rom and put in my windows folder (you can search the hermes forum for the rom). I then edited the registry setting (HKLM/System/D3DM/Drivers/LocalHook). I changed it from d3dm_sedrv.dll to d3dmref.dll. Google Navigator now opens. Everything works including the gps receiver but the application is so slow that it's basically unusable. It'll hang for 30 seconds or more before any action is carried out (even scrolling through the drop down menu causes the application to hang before responding). Perhaps an updated driver will do the trick but until someone finds one or makes one I'm reverting to Live Search. The most updated version has turn-by-turn directions but without voice guidance. It does, however, have voice recognition (ie - you can speak addresses into the phone). Pretty cool.

A very good software I'm using better than google navigator, this software is called gpstuner, it uses the same concept of GN but cheaper in price and works faster but 2D not 3D which is no problem, it has many features and gauges to use, its time to try this software.

Do you mean the d3dmref.dll file? I never saw a d3dm_ti3d.dll file in Schap's rom. Or do you mean d3dm_ti3d.dll is in your wizard rom?
If you mean the d3dmref.dll file, here it is. If you know of a d3dm_ti3d.dll driver, tell me the rom is that the file is in and where I can download that rom. I will extract it and test it.

Google Navigator 2.5 is out and it works pretty good when pointing to the original driver dm3d_sedrv.dll (note that the d3dmref.dll driver doesn't work well with this version). I haven't tested the gps feature yet as I'm indoors at work. Once I test it, I'll determine if it's worth buying. Right now, it looks promising. The only issue I have so far is that the program eats up a lot of program memory and I get wind up with an exception error because I literally run out of program memory. I need to find a way around that. Go to http://www.pdafun.net/download.htm to download the cab file.

The trial version doesn't support navigation (turn-by-turn voice directions) but it does support gps. On the 2.4 trial version I was able to get a fix on my current position and it tracked my movement but it was so slow it was useless. Once I leave work I will test the gps function of this new version. If it tracks well and doesn't freeze / crash then I'm sold. Both navigating the menus and the map rendering is so much faster than the old version. It found addresses and rendered the map at an acceptable speed (granted it's dependent on the speed of your phone's interent connection because the maps are streaming off the internet). Overall it looks very hopeful (for me at least). The one issue I see so far is that it uses a lot of program memory - so much until I get an exception error once all my program memory is used. I may have to find a way around this dilemna (that is, find a way to increase my available program memory - sk tools increased my program memory a little with it's "optimize for memory" option but I may need more).
Aside...I'm wondering if a new thread should be started since we're delaling with version 2.5 and this thread was started discussing version 2.4?

you're right. and right on the memory thing, this app is memory hog, i have 24mb free app memory when it starts it, runs out of memory in 5 minutes. doesn't have the lookup from contact feature google maps does, not worth of how much they're asking for.

Go into start menu, settings and locate the external gps menu and check the gps program port. Whatever port you select there is the same port that must be used in the google navigator program. I have mine set for COM2 and it works fine.

Who created this program some kid. When you click on menu one item says,"Find Loacation." Didn't they mean,"Location." Furthermore, the trial version doesnt even support the main purpose, NAVIGATION/DIRECTIONS. You have to pay 60.00 for this program to test the true use of it. Trial is no better than Google Earth. Ill stick with Telenav, TOMTOM and Live Search. At least they work and give accurate information thus far. Especially TomTom. Just my opinion nothing more.
