Camera Icon in Pictures & Video [Fixed on 08-29-07]

Anyone knows how to add camera button in the windows pictures and video's application and have it set to redirect to the Camera 3.00 application. If yes please let me know Thanks.

I believe that one or both of these files controls that part:

HtcCameraUtility.dll
PicturesExt.dll

Add these to the package/windows directory and give it a try.

This is just going from memory.

edit: ok i got the dlls, i will try them and will report back what is the result.

edit2: it was only missing pictureext.dll from above 2 dlls so I places that in windows, dint work any clue...

I was working on this issue prior to my family emergency. As it sits, I too am still waiting for a fix. I have noticed however that nbd and octavio roms do not have this issue. I was trying to tear them apart to locate the answer, but got nowhere

NBD and Octavoi i believe they use different base rom, I think it has to do with some missing dll, because it worked fine with mattk latest version.

You should be able to find it but searching for the dll file in the camera package from the faria kitchen.

alright, i will port these reg entries and will let you know if that resolves it or not.
edit: i checked the registery was there, however i ported it again and i made sure i have both dlls in the windows. This fix did not work. i am sure it is missing either a file or a reg key. I have asked theloon about it he mentioned that he fixed it. So if tells me how he fixed it, i will post it here.

Ill recheck the oem pack though. Ill post the ones that I am getting dups of, I had to replace a few in order to get my codec issue resolved. Hopefully we can squash this like a bug quickly.

theloon: it was a broken camera pack and has been fixed.

he replaced the broken camera pack with good one and he said everything is working as it should be. I will compare which files the old cam pack was missing which caused this error and i will post it back.

Thanks. Here is the new issue with this. I replaced the pack with another pack that I had, and now, my camera icon in the pimg.exe application is gone. LOL. Better to not be there than to not work, thats what i always say.

LMAO thats what happened to me when i used mattk's OEM Camera Pack, it was gone. But then it also caused my camera not to launch properly. If your camera works just upload the OEM pack :d so we can use it, i have included couple of dlls that were missing from OLD. Oh btw I believe Theloon's Beta pack for his beta test that i got is using the faria's camera+streamer. i am not sure i will find out

Try the camera package attached to this post to get the icon to appear. The icon will then link to the Microsoft camera application. The registry entries and two dlls i mentioned will make the icon link to the HTC Camera instead.

If this still doesn't work, then you are missing some registry entries in the OEMDrivers rgu that are related to the camera. These can be found from multiple other kitchens.

Camera Icon is there, that reg you mentioned is already there as well. Not working. will try your package and see if it works.

edit: allright guys, i finally got this bug squashed like dead roach LOL. anyways if you used Rev 5.2.5 from Theloon, these were the missing dlls that caused Camera not to launch properly from Pictures & Video. Just download the attached dlls and drop in your windows folder and it should be good :d. Test it out and post the reply for confirmation :d

Note: There are few files that are hidden so you might want to disable hide hidden files from folder options in your windows :d

These are the files you should have when you extract
EmEvrcDec.dll, EmMp4SbrDec.dll, EmQcelpDec.dll, GSMAMRDLL.dll, HTCMPXFlt.dll, IMEngine.dll, jpeg_dec.dll, mp4spvd.dll, qcp_writer.dll

hmm, i am at work as of now, so what i can do is when i get home around 6:30EST, i can include these files in my Camera Pack and will upload it. See if that resolve that error for you. Those files fixed the bug for me, i am using default Camera Pack that came with 5.2.5

thanks boss. this seems to be the last issue im having. The other issue is the Camera application not not interfacing with the MMS software. My solution was to disable the MMS video option for the camera. Im looking forward to seeing your pack uploaded lol.

Ok, I used that pack, and low and behold it tries to launch that camera, I get a Not signed error though. Any ideas?

hmm... i wonder why you get that error. Well if you can wait 2 hours then when i am at home i can flash my phone with this pack and see whats wrong. Its Wierd.

hmm let me just hard reset my Phone and try it. i will post back if there is anything missing or if it causes any error.

edit: btw did you use the same pack as i sent you, or you replaced the dlls.

edit: Camera only works if launched by pressing button on the phone or Direct Launch it doesn't work from Pictures & Videos

edit3: After patching with the uploaded dlls, Camera Now Works fine, my rom didn't needed EmEvrcDec.dll, qcp_writer.dll as they were in the rom when i cooked. All i can say is now that when i go home i can try to build a rom and if that doesn't work i can help you to fix it, but as of now after hard reset and patch it works fine.

see i can launch with my pack but my kitchen is a mess so me uploading is not gonna help. LOL. Ive been troubleshooting an fixing based on what i found and what makes it easier for me to figure out and locate files.

Does the signature apply to the EXE or a specific DLL? We figure that one out and I might be able to have this thing fixed.

well i tried those exe and mui files along with the dll. Now the camer opens but back to issue number 1. Shortcut in pimg doesnt work. LOL. Think it might be with the CameraDLL you sent

These two files you mentioned are not required for the functionality you are wanting.

Which CameraDriver.dll are you using? I was using the one from the 4.11 camera for a while. With it, the icon in P&V is always there, but will not work correctly with the Microsoft camera app.

The CameraDriver.dll from the old 3.00 packages will show the camera icon in P&V and work correctly with the Microsoft app if you include all files/entries that are in the package I posted. I did notice an odd behaviour in which this file must be cooked in in order to show the P&V icon. Just copying it to the Windows directory post-flash did not work for me.

From the package I posted, the camera icon shows up and works. If/when I want a build where P&V links to HTC Camera, then I add HtcCameraUtility.dll and PicturesExt.dll and their corresponding registry entries.

I am using the 1413 build (Mattk_R kitchen). All camera files I am using are in the package I posted.

EDIT: In the package I posted, everything works with only the application directory. The video filter directory is only necessary for playing back the videos taken by the camera.

see, thats where the other issue was. I was able to get one fixed then the other was broken, then I fixed the other issue and the first one was broken again. I download the kitchen you sent nycelitemaster and try that one out. Thanks again. I got my home network fixed finally, after working on it from work today, my domain should be good to go but have yet to figure out what happened last night. Checking logs right now. LOL. good fun.
