hey. im very new to this and only just got a hx4700 from a friend. really wanted to try and upgrade to wm6 cus pocketpc2003 was soooo boring. anwyay when i open up the bootloader and select the .rar file i get an error saying it cant find the port \\.\WCEUSBSH001 or something like that. i tried using mtty11a too but in the list of ports i dont get \\.\WCEUSBSH001, i get COM2 and COM1 and if i use COM1 it appears to maybe work cus i get a window pop up but i dont dare continue without knowing it'll work incase i screw it up.
anyone know whats going on??

Did you put the device into bootloader mode, the error you mention is one you get when your not in bootloader mode on the 4700. If your not sure or your not, suggest you get the documentation for flashing the 4700 and follow the steps. There is no need to select a port if your in bootloader mode, you just say ok and it works.

Upgraded to 6.1 and everything is great except that I can't use Transcriber or Calligrapher. I've spent hours searching for a solution with no success, so I'm putting it up here. I've installed Transcriber 1.5, the latest I could find, but it's inconsistent and doesn't work properly. I've tried every possible way of installing Calligrapher 8.7, but it seems that it needs a good install of Transcriber in order to work. I won't go through the 20 different things I've tried to make either of these work, but trust me, I've tried!
Does anyone have a solution, or even a recommendation of another handwriting input app? This is crucial for me, I need something more than block recognizer.
Thanks,
Michael

I just installed WM6.0 on my hx4700 and love it. However, it has some strange behaviors:
1. A couple of times, I had it powered off only to discover several hours later a depleted battery and it would not turn on until put on charger. It does retain all application and data, not like WM2003SE, which would lose everything.
2. The keyboard icon at bottom center sometimes disappears at the start-unlock screen just when I was keying in my password. When I tap on the spot where it was, it came back on.
Has anyone experienced the same behavior and are there patches, or should I get WM6.1? Thanks.

Also, the power button sometimes would not turn on the device and requires a soft reset.

Honorable.
I have HP hx 4700 Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition version 4.21.1088 (Build 15045.2.6.0).
Should I first flash it with WM 5 and then proceed to the VM 6.1?
Which application will remain (PocketWord, Excel etc)?
With respect

Hi everybody!
Excellent work you´ve done!
I have upgraded my 4700 form wm2003SE to WM5 and then to WM5.1
Now, I would like to install the WM6.1 rom in my IPAQ hx4700, but i want to be sure that there is a safe way to revert to original wm2003SE if any of the applications i usually need doesn´t work properly with this new WM version... So, what can you say about it.... Is there a safe way to revert?...
Anything you write will help!
If there is a safe way to revert, can any of you explain it step by step??
thks
Thanks very much!

I don't know if your changing the port numbers or what when the TTY program opens up but just leave everything at default. If your using Vista then your going to need to load the vista driver. I have flashed every one of these and never got a file to large error.

Dude, first of all I asked a few questions and you don't answer, I don't give my info to anyone, that's the way it is. I'm not playing tech support because someone doesn't understand, I don't have the time. The instructions work, the boot loader works, there is not much more to the deal. Its pretty simple. I suggest you keep trying like we all did.

Jeez... "Junior Member" is an apt description of this guy, isn't it? First time I've ever seen such a persistent determined whiner in a forum.
Dude, learn how to be at least marginally self-sufficient. It seems like you're choosing to remain helpless, and that won't earn you respect, especially not in these forums (xda-developers.com).

First off I doubt this will work in x64 Windows 7 since it does not in x64 Vista. However it works fine in x86 Vista or Win 7. You are going to need the vista drivers for the HP port that are posted on my page. when you open up bootloader it asks for the file to be selected .nbo or .nbf, once you do this it opens it up and then the TTY program opens, you just say ok in that program and don't change anything. I suspect that the x64 bit is your issue. or you haven't tried to replace the HP drivers in device manager with the ones listed on my page.
All this is covered in my instructions I wrote up on flashing the 4700, did you read them? The only thing not in the instructions is the info I just gave you on getting the correct HP port drivers for the device to work in Vista or Win7

I think its becoming apparent that either you really don't know what your doing or you really have not followed one instruction given.
Everything you need again is on my website! instructions on how to load the driver is in the zip file.
Have you even downloaded the instructions on how to flash the unit?
Look, if you having this much trouble just trying to figure this out with all the information available, maybe you should not be doing this. I suspect you are way over your head and if you brick your unit, your on your own. I suggest you find something else to play with that is easier to understand othewise. READ the instructions and check the other links to forums out on my website and try to understand what your doing. We are not going to hold your hand anymore.

Everything you need again is on my website
1. Download instructions on how to flash hx4700
2. Download USB drivers and read the included text file on how to install
3. Download the Bootloader
4. Open instructions and read on how to install bootloader, where to put the files and how to get into bootloader mode.
5. Flash your device per instructions and reset per instructions.
This is about as much as I'm going to do. Your on your own at this point. As I said before, if you can't understand any of this, then don't do it and find something else to occupy your time with.
If you brick your device or mess it up, don't ask for help your on your own.

It's so happy.
'cause I got new ROM(AKU WM6) today.
- AKU WM6 is better than HP's orginal ROM.
- so fast
- so beautiful
Thank you.
I have a question
I. 480X640 mode(Apply VGA heck program)
- I used 'OzVGA' (OzVGA is resolution converting program)
- But OzVGA is not working at AKUWM6
- I seen opening picture at soft re-set
- it is two.(1 is 240-320 2 is 480-640)
- so I think AKU ROM is support 480X640 resolution mode
Please help me(apply 480X640 resolution mode)
- I think... AKU ROM require another program
- I can't find another VGA heck program.
II. paging pool apply
- This AKU WM5 ROM is sooooooooooooooooooo fast
(It seems to It is not require paging pool)
But My hx4700 is RAM-upgraded(128M)
- I want my extra RAM use!! ㅠ_ㅜ(I was RAM upgrade only for Paging-pool)
- How can I apply Paging-pool(48M, ohter)?
- Is 'AKU WM6' not require paging-pool?
and Thank you. Thank yoy. Thank you.
You are best programer.

Not sure what your talking about, it looks to me again you didn't follow the instructions on the installation of the bootloader. It should be in c:\bootloader or d:\bootloader and not in any other path.
As far as I know there is NO german 6.0 or 6.1 version

is it possible to use the storage as ram memory? When I open IM+ and Skype, is not possible to open also Opera, because the system automatically closes IM+ and Skype :(
With the old Win 2003 we could switch between memory for ram usage and storage usage.
Is it possible to install an application bar? Is so stressful to use everytime the so slow iTask button to switch between opened applications.

1). No
2). Try WKTask (http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html), works great for me.

Hi new here.
Succesfully insalled the new Windows Mobile and all is well. But I seem to have a glitch with Bluetooth. It works fine (using Internet explorer) but then after disconnecting it won't start up again and I can't even get into the Bluetooth settings.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is a Bluetooth glitch which occures acte upgrading WM but that it can be sorted out - but I can't find it anywhere.
Any suggestions?

Here is what I can tell you about this. The BT stack appears to work fine when connecting up to a BT GPS reciever, I can connect/disconnect all day long with no problems.
Now then I have a bluetooth GPS receiver plugged into my serial port of my PC I use for talking between Flight Sim and my GPS for moving map. When I disconnect from that device, it will never reconnected. I have to reboot everything just to make another BT connection. I have never been able to get that part resolved.

The simply solution for import self cert is
just create a directory:
\windows\system\CertDtls
and then i could open the certificate and it would install and then tell me that it had installed the certificate.
