One other thing I noted when I used OzVGA and set high rez it rebooted and said "Windows Mobile 5" on the splash screen.

LZF go to Programs and at the bottom Open "System Info".
It says Windows Mobile 5.0 (WinCE 5.02)
That is with his WM6 Fix3 installed Yesterday.
Under Settings --> System Tab and About it says 6 classic CE 5.2.1908
Come to think of it that System Info tool may be from the resco tools I installed. At any rate it clearly states something other than the "About" app.
Using Resco Explorer 2007's System Info, I get a correct Windows Mobile 6.0
Maybe you have different Resco ?

Hi Kozhura thanks for the new ROM!
Bluetooth AD2P is not working properly in fix3, i have to install qwerty's fix (http://4pda.ru/forum/attach/852921/_QwertY__Widcomm_Act.cab) before it works - i had the same problem in fix2 as well.

I do want to say, fabulous MOD and thanks a lot for it. While I myself and a software develper I have not delved in to the PPC arena other than a couple simple apps I wrote for personal use. While I am not surprised that "joe citizen" can make a modded OS and give us all an upgrade I can say that it just reenforced my dissapointment with large companies and their notions of planned obsolecense. It is almost as if HP wanted the WM5 update they released to suck ass and wanted us all to want to move on ASAP. I was about to put 2003SE back on my PPC after all this time because I realized I avoided using it because of how lethargic and painful it was to use. In the process of actually flashing back that OS I browsed brighthand and found all this info! Thanks and kudos khozura, I appreciate it.
I will post pics of the system info and the about screens. I am most certainly not trying to take anything away from this mod, it is mostly a curiousity to me that my PPC says what it does (WM5 instead of 6).

I released a new AKU 0.7.0 ROM
What`s the new:
1.New WLAN Drivers, now they working without problems
2.Added IE FIX (thanks Football)
3.Cleaned registry
4.Now you have 37.42 MB Program Memory in clean device
5.Updated certs-now all certs from WM6,and you havent got problems with soft
6.Battery is not fixed yet,its only close-testing
I just flashed my device with this rom. However, I found that I have only 31.70MB free Program Memory. I'm curious how come it is not the same as Kozhura said. Am I the only one who have this amount of free Program Memory?

Who cares about SDHC, just get a normal 4GB SD and a 16GB CF card, if that isn't enough storage for a PPC then I don't know :p

BTW I experienced a strange thing, this morning my 4700 wouldn't boot. stayed in first screen (blue) I had to clear data, remove battery, push reset button countless times. when it booted again i could restore (spb backup) my data. seems to work ok now. wonder what happend.

Excellent ROM, thanks.
Issues for me...
No landscape video in wmp.
Wifi on/off issue is still present.
I see PDAVIAT ROM has a newer core than Kozurha's and it performs well, only wifi and some other components don't work as of yet.
Is it possible to update the ATI driver in the hx4700, if we could enable the Bitmap Cache we would not notice the compaction thread when it's running as the GUI would be cached in the video RAM (4mb).

Hi guys, Excellent Rom thank you !
How do I create a new outgoing port for my GPS receiver ?

Thanks for any help, Chris.

Thanks Kozhura for the excellent ROM when I thought my HX4700 is doomed to Hell with that crappy HP WM5 2.01 ROM.
I have been using the FIX2 for the past week and it works great with my iTech R35 Stereo Bluetooth headset without any patch needed. WMP even support the headset's AVRCP functions! Found new use for HX4700 and my iTech headset (previously used on my N93 with the less-than-impressive Blueplayer)
You have revived my PPC into a brand new PMP LOL Thanks!

I am having the same problem. Whenever I try to install a certificate, I get an error message. FIX 3 did not change this, unfortunately.

I will assume you have added the BT GPS device and then paired it to your 4700. Also don't forget to go into the properties of the serial port (Bluetooth settings, Services, Serial port) & disable Authentication for serial.
Also don't forget.... for the first time only (if still applicable) go into BT manager and either double tap (to connect) or tap & hold your BT GPS device and select connect. Once connected, tap 'X' then start Tom Tom. Then obviously in the TT program go to the GPS setting and pick configure, select 'other BT GPS receiver, then pick BT serial 8 . Done, you should see the wheel in top right (though very small in VGA) spin after a few seconds.
Help or advice please. Since the 'Upgrade' to fix 3 my calender has not transfered appiontments to ipaq & i can't seem to get Simple SMS to work (not connecting to mobile to send text message I write on 4700). both worked with previous versions.
Thanks in advance!

I have paired it to my 4700 what do you mean by adding? I have played around with the settings under the serial port, I have just ticked them all and unticked Authentication for serial as you mentioned but still no luck !
the bluetooth led is flashing like crazy as if there's a connection so something going on ! there's no Sat's in the GPS status.
I have used this for a couple of years and always configured OK when re installing after a HR or Flash but for some reason I can not get it to connect maybe I've overlooked something stupid this time..lol
I also tried connecting first in bluetooth manager it connects ok then back to tomtom reconfigured but still nothing, just GPS receiver led flashing
Anything else I can try?
I remember in WM 2003SE when pairing the GPS I used to open an outgoing port, com0 I used to use, when I flashed WM5 the option wasnt there but I did get it working ! now this WM6 which I'm very grateful for but having problems connecting but I'm sure its my config
Thanks, Chris.

I have installed the Release 3 over the weekend and still cannot import the root certificate from my exchange server (Using SelfSSL). I have tried multiple methods including
PFXImport (P12IMPRT)
-it reports the 1x Personal Cert was installed and 0x root, 0x Intermediate
Running the .cer file
-after running it indicates that "The certificate was not successfully added. Please restart the device and try again."
Running the PFX file
-after running it says "one or more certificates were installed successfully"
I there any other possable workaround, hack or fix for this? Can anyone import a root certificate?
Thanks BTW this ROM on the hx4700 puts most other PPC's to shame in regards to performance.

Has anyone, with the fix 3, got the calender/appointments to transfer to the 4700?. My contacts have but not the calender. I am lucky enough to run 3 of these, one is still stock 2003 the other 2 have alternated between WM5 (crap), this WM6 fix 1 version (wow!), fix 2 (WOW!) and now fix 3 (Mmmmm!)still fast and initiially had 37Mb of program space.
For me the fix 2 is better because Simple SMS, and calender and everything else I used worked. But fix 3 I can't get Simple SMS (comms with mobile) & calender appointments (syncing). I have the settings to 'all' but not working yet. I might redo a partnership.
I have active sync 4.5.0(build 5096)
can anyone confirm their calender syncs?
Update After deleting partnership and re-establishing I now have all calender appointments shown. Now to see about the Simple SMS (V5.1) problem I will remove then reinstall on both mobile & 4700
Stick with SPB 3.xx
Update Nope! no luck still says failed settup- check options & phone settings!
GOT IT I had to pair it with my mobile as a 'connecion to internet via phone', where previously I only paired as 'explore a bluetooth device'.

I have been able to get certs installed but the only way to do it is to backup your device before flashing and the restore the backup after loading the new rom. I Have been able to do this with Sprite backup. But you then have to go in and remove a lot of extra icons that the back up puts in. hve been able to download mail from the exchange server then.
However direct push email does not seem to be working.
Also I am having a problem with syncing to vista. you have to keep reconnecting to get it to sync. mobile device center usuall just says error when connecting.

MPF54, what os version do i need to do a backup from (WM2003, WM5...). And just to make sure i understand correctly. I would setup the cert on the device, backup using Sprite Backup then do the WM6 install and restore the cert.
Thank you for the input. I am very egar to get this thing syncing mail, contacts and appts.

It's going to work.... but I think you're wasting money. It looks just to fragile, like it's just waiting to get snapped off. I had a teletype CF card that lasted two years and cracked at the neck. Plus 512mb is too small these days. It's great just for maps, but i've got iguidance and mortplayer running at the same time. You need room for music to. Anyway now I use bluetooth and it's great.
Just passing on my findings.

SPB Mobile Shell is a commercial product, so it is UNLIKELY it will ever be integrated as it would condone piracy.
However, There are plenty of people who use licensed SPB products on WM6 who can report honestly on compatibility.

First, I don't want to break down this beautifull piece of work made by Kozhura ... but can someone tell me what are the advantages of WM6 against WM2003SE ?
Ok, I know there are new software versions ... but I realy want to know the opinion of the pro WM6 users.
Have installed 2nd fix version on my HX4700 (128 Ram) but I'm still searching for the advantage of using WM6 ... looks for me the same as working with WM2003SE, or am I wrong?
So now downgrade back to the old wm2003se ... but still thingking about installing of the 3th fix version ... what shall I do
Cu later,

Hi Philis,
The main difference between WM2003se and WM5/6 ist the use of RAM/ROM. In WM2003se, part of the data gets stored in the RAM. You have to get sure, that youre Akku never gets empty, cause that would mean dataloss. Of course thats not the case for the Filestore.
If youre Akku really would get empty once, then your PDA will perform a hard-reset!
In WM5/6 only the ROM gets used for storing data, while the RAM is only used for launching Programs. You can work more "pc-like". The Akku can get empty, but you wont loose any data.

Also, specifically with the HX4700, the memory management of the radios is far superior. No longer do you have to soft reset to get WiFi or Bluetooth to work correctly if you use up the memory they require. Now, just close an app, and boom, all is good.

I found a problem and I can't solve it. I try to make a connection between my cell phone and the PDA. It is works fine, but I want to make a GPRS connection. To make a GPRS connection I must to add a dialing prefix ( I think it is a correct name) the phone number is *99# and a dialing prefix is +CGDCONT=1,"IP","NET". I can't find a place where can I write it. Please HELP.

Thats very true... With WM6, I can use WiFi and BT the same time. Under WM2003se, that wasnt possible. But not only that... Once WiFi was turned on, a SR would be necessary to use BT again.
But another "problem" now: With the new release 3, I cant make BT PAN working anymore. Not that it would be a problem now. I just noticed that. Its not possible for me, to connect the iPAQ to my PC over BT PAN... With the release 2, I had no problems with that.
But still: Great work Kozura :top:

I used this BT Profile for creating a connection to my PC... That was when I didnt have a WLAN Router at home. I could use the Internetconnection from my PC to go online or I could use the shared foldiers from my PC.
Since I have WLAN, I dont use anymore this BT Profile. But still I wanted to try out, if this still works with the new release (since it worked with Release 2). But I cant make it working anymore.

Hi. First I must tell that this ROM (r.3) is really great.
My HX4700 can fly with this ROM.
But I have one question (problem).
When I am connected to my home WIFI (Linksys) and then HX4700 automaticaly go to sleep (after some time-automatic turn off). Then I can't turn on my PDA. Only reset will help.
If I am not connected to WIFI (WIFI is turned off) everything is OK.
Maybe somebody know what is solution for this problem?
Many thanks.

A new Beta version of SPB Pocket Plus v4.0 is available. It's supposed to fix the installation issue on Hx4700 WM6:

According to Spb, it was due to a missing file in the ROM. If I can find out which one, i'll post back here.
In the meantime we can enjoy the new Pocket Plus, thanks to Spb's great service.

As far as I can tell the main difference appears to be changes with various certificates in the registry. I imported the changes to a freshly hard reset 4700 running the latest ROM (wwe_wm6_4700_070_fix3) and the original non beta version of pocket plus 4 installs fine. I'm going to investigate this further.
...
Okay, it seems that the following registry entry fixes the Pocket Plus 4 installation problem with the original version:

I wonder if the problems people are having with ver.3 (A2DP, etc) are because of restoring old backup over new ROM, or if real problems with current build?

The problem lies in the AD2PFX package inside the OEM folder. I took the registry entries from the _QwertY__Widcomm_Act.cab file and created a new package for use with the hx4700 kitchen. I don't know what is wrong with the AD2PFX package, but the package I created works just fine. Use this package instead of the AD2PFX package. Of course this only helps if your using the hx4700 kitchen.

did you change to new core ? well Iv upgrade to your latest (6.0.7.0 Release 3) from old version (6.0.3.2 Release 2).. no hiccup or laggness... and no compaction thread ATM!!!
However Im not yet utilising the devices memory, but this 'clean memory version' drastically improve performance effect. So far Ive only use 7MB (devices) memory for important program, like pocketbreeze, wisbar & resco thing.
overall this version has greatest performance among all of your (wm6) release

Make sure that if you are not broadcasting your SID from the router that "hidden network" box is checked. If you are broadcasting it, then the box should be unchecked. I had the same problem but when I corrected my settings everything worked fine.

Would you suggest that those lockups were caused by just using the ROM and not from having installed any applications or games that could have caused them...?

For those interested. I flashed to the new rom at PDAVIET and here's the scoop. I really keep hoping that SDHC is going to become a reality but not yet. The usb HDD still is not working and whatever is causing it also stops any other app of that nature from working. I really don't like the PDAVIET splash screen that loads on a reset. I tried windows messenger live and it works. I use cardexport a lot just so i can connect to any computer and not need activesync. File transfers mainly, so since that 's not working i'm gonna reflash back to fix3. If anyone wants somthing specific tested let me know. I believe that since this is based on kozhura's work it can't be that different. It does seem very snappy though. Now at PDAVIET I see 8mb PP. That's the page pool. Does kozhura's have the same size page pool? It could be that I just don't have all my apps installed. I'm going to keep goofing with it a bit more.

Been using .70 R3 since it's release and have not restored from any backups, the issue for me even after a clean reset:
A2DP doesn't work.
General BT issues.
Wifi although works still has the on/off issue (sometimes) and random disconnects.
No full screen landscape video in wmp.
Alarm/reminders are faulty.
Random device lockups.
Icons sometimes change to incorrect pictures.
Even with these small issues it's the best wm6 ROM for the hx4700, BIG thanks Kozurha.
I've been looking at wm6.1's new interface, interesting..I hope it's compatible with our device, looks like the touch pad would work very well with this type of GUI menu system.
I would like to enable the ATI bitmap cache, I'm sure even with compaction running the GUI is not effected and always feels smooth, I think it would need a new ATI driver or changes to atihwtbl0.txt to make it work. Are there any VGA devices that use a newer ATI driver out there? Or does anyone understand atihwtbl0.txt enough to make changes.
Looking forward to future releases.

Hello all,
your community work is very useful. Thanks kozhura for your work.
I have an SD 2GB card and I'm thinking to buy a CF card because I heard is faster than SD. The purpose is free device's memory of course.
I have the doubt of the real speed transfers to know which is the adequate. In other words, the hx4700 could profit a 266x card, or is the hx4700 CF bus limiting the speed? This kind of stuff is expensive in spain, so I'd buy the cheaper but the fastest.
Edit:
I didn't know how to obtain some info from the net, only see sales websites, and the benchmarks I've seen didn't bring to me clear water.
All your experience and knowing of the hx4700 will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance and sorry my poor english.

I don't know what is wrong with the AD2PFX package.
In Mr. kozhura HX4700 WM6 0.7.0 F3 ROM:
A2DP fix registry is at
\OEM\AD2PFX\fc47604c-70be-4707-b7f2-1ff1667d8717.rgu
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"Dll"="btcedrivers.dll"
But when rebuilding ROM image, the registry is overwritten by
\OEM\cc89e385-145a-4d2e-a1c1-4d2ba782edec\cc89e385-145a-4d2e-a1c1-4d2ba782edec.rgu
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"Dll"="wavedev.dll"
A friend says this is the cause. After modifing this
from "Dll"="wavedev.dll" to "Dll"="btcedrivers.dll"
his A2DP BT headphone works.
But not tested by myself
because of no BT headphone available.
You can modify it by yourself with resco registry.

Hello all,
your community work is very useful.
Jordi
Memory card speed only really come into effect with things like digital cameras, the PDA's only actually write slow. Buying expensive 266x cards is a waste of money for the pda unless your going to use a card reader a lot.
i think the pda writes at 2 -5x at most, i did a test once but i forget the exact speeds

In Mr. kozhura HX4700 WM6 0.7.0 F3 ROM:
A2DP fix registry is at
\OEM\AD2PFX\fc47604c-70be-4707-b7f2-1ff1667d8717.rgu
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"Dll"="btcedrivers.dll"
But when rebuilding ROM image, the registry is overwritten by
\OEM\cc89e385-145a-4d2e-a1c1-4d2ba782edec\cc89e385-145a-4d2e-a1c1-4d2ba782edec.rgu
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"Dll"="wavedev.dll"
A friend says this is the cause. After modifing this
from "Dll"="wavedev.dll" to "Dll"="btcedrivers.dll"
his A2DP BT headphone works.
But not tested by myself
because of no BT headphone available.
You can modify it by yourself with resco registry.
You're right they are conflicting. Thanks for the help. So I guess in order to fix this problem the offending registry entry needs to be removed from the \OEM\cc89e385-145a-4d2e-a1c1-4d2ba782edec\cc89e385-145a-4d2e-a1c1-4d2ba782edec.rgu file, and the rom rebuilt. I wonder if there are other duplicate entries? Anyone know of a utility that can be used to check for duplicate registry values in different files?

This is NOT true. I have tested x133 8GB CF and my previous simple 2GB CF (paradoxically: mentioned 2GB is faster than 8GB, which is really SLOW) and compared with x50 1GB SD GoodRAM. Believe me, an SD card is much FASTER than CompactFlash.

Sorry mate, it just gives you another patch that claims can work in wm6...
Let me see if I can attach a post here, cause there seems to some problem with my membership here, can't download any attachments...
Sorry guys, tried this one a while ago as well. Basically, the problem seems to be one of two things:
- some of these patches install but don't operate the SD card slot - let alone SDHC.
- others will NOT install at all.
These patches seem to work on other devices but on the 4700 they're duds.
I'm hoping kozhura is able to find a way to make this work, but I suspect this will not happen for the SDHC. I would love to be wrong on this!

I have a 8gb cf card 120x speed and a 2gb mmc+ 200x and I think my cf card is faster in the hx4700, although the type of format you use will effect read/write speeds. mmc+ are faster than sd.

I already tried that but it dosn't work. You can't just add the dll's though. The installer has to run because there are registry entries to be changed i'm sure. If you look in the _setup.xml file there is a lot of info there for the install.
The quest is still on....Hehehe!!!

But I'm having a question about the CF Card, currently I'm using Trescend 4G SD Card with my HX4700 without any problem, but trying some CF Cards with my HX4700 it always pop-up a dialog said:
Unrecognized Card
Enter the name of the device driver for this card. For information, see the card manufacture's documenation.
Unknow card in Socket 1
Since several posts above said they have no problems with CF Cards and I'm wondering why mine does not work. Could anyone give some advices on this to help me out? I'm truly want to take the advantages of the CF Card. Thanks in advance.
BTW, I'm a user from Taiwan and I've tried several CF Cards below but without sucess.
A-Data Speedy 4GB CF Card
SanDisk Ultra II 4GB CF Card
SanDisk Extreme IV 8GB CF Card
Transcend 16GB 133x, 16GB 120x , 8GB 120x CF Card
TopRam 16GB CF Card
Q1: Is this a compatible issue or smothing?
Q2: Is there new driver for CF Card?

I have fix3 installed and can't get TomTom installed. TomTom Home will only install on the memory card, but when the ttn.cab runs it runs continuously and never finishes.
It ran and installed on previous versions and on the pdaviet versions.

Think 133 is much as 20. Supose that it's up-to-date. Thanks anyway, I supose you base on your personal experience.
But still confused about the real performance, not for ActiveSync, this is a crap, but for loading apps, even at startup. I had some problems when putting startup apps on SD (Integral HighSpeed). Some of them didn't start because sd was not ready.
Regards
PS: I've seen that SD is faster here:

Preface: This is not a how to on how to install a certificate properly... this is a back way.
We use WPA with self signed certs at work. I was not able to log in to our wireless network last week. Over the weekend I did some digging and reading here, particulary from one person who was able to backup from older WM and restore to this ROM.
1. First I restored my WM5 ROM and imported the Certs I needed and installed Resco Explorer/Reg Add-In (you can use the demo if you dont want to buy).
2. Look for the Certificate store here in the registry:
HKLM\Comm\Security\SystemCertificates\(Cert Store in my case: )Root\Certificates\**Certificate Thumbprint**
The thumbprint is viewable by double clicking on the cert in Windows XP/Vista. Go to the Details Tab and look at the thumbprint Field. That is the key name under Certificates in the path above. I used Resco and exported that key. Alternatively you could export the entire SystemCertificates Key.
3. Save your exported registry to a card or your windows box.
4. Flashed Khozura Rom Wm6 Fix 3 and installed Resco Explorer/Reg Add In.
5. Put the Exported Registry Key(s) back on the device.
6 If you exported only the key go to A if you exported the entire systemcertificates go to B
6A. A tap of the exported cert registry entry should prompt you to install it. You can also go to the resco registry editor and choose "Import" from the file menu.
6B. Since you exported the entire system certificates first browse to the certificate store with resco registry editor and export the entire WM6 systemcertificates key. Now Import (tap) your exported WM5 systemcertificates reg file and follow the prompts, next tap the newer WM6 systemcertificates reg file. This will yield only the differences between WM5 and WM6 allowing you to keep the newer WM6 info.
7. Press the power switch at the top to put the unit in standby. Wait about a minute then soft reset.
8. Try your WPA connection. Mine worked First thing Monday after I followed the above steps this past weekend. Your mileage may vary.

For the very first time since I used this ROM I removed my 4GB CF card - I had not removed it before.
Now I get the same message as you every time that I try and put it back in :(
The CF card formats fine and works well in other devices
EDIT: Found the trouble :(
It was a bent pin inside the CF slot of the 4700....
I have had to strip the unit down to then gain access to the pins, sadly it was a pin in the middle of the back row that had bent over and needed a lot of work to straighten it out. I placed the CF card in it whilst it was stripped down to ensure that the card was in correctly.
Now it works :)

Are you referring to the battery icon? what plug/connection symbol? anyway you can put the battery icon back by changing the showtitlebarclock to 0(DWORD) again.
If you look at the photo that you have just quoted, and the previous one that I posted, you will note that where the time is now on the top bar directly replaces the mains connection icon, that can be seen on the far right of this photo....
http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/7505/screenim6.jpg
So now all that you see is...
http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/3329/testpd7.jpg
This only applies once the PDA is docked and charging from the mains. There is no longer any room for the 'charging' icon to appear as it is written over by the time. The time even loses its AM and PM indication.

Hi All,
It's a great job of Kozhura while I've just bought 8GB SDHC and 8GB CFHC, and both of them works well when I've tried it in the shop, so I didn't think any further and just paid them all.
Thanking you much Kozhura, all works well with my hx4700 after ROM updated. The WiFi is so fine, Bluetooth best, and all other applications works seamlessly.

I can read dude and im not blind, thats exactly what the reghack does it changes the battery icon to clock. its either you have the clock or the battery icon, you cannot have both(unless you use wisbar), if you choose the clock then the battery charging icon of course will not be available. if the charging icon is that important to you then change the dword to 0 and have the battery icon instead. And btw the connection icon is the 1st icon which has two opposing arrows in it, what your referring is the battery icon.

I wasn't suggesting that you didn't understand what I meant, I am sorry if my post came across that way. I simply didn't understand if it was an either or situation regarding the clock on the top of the bar. I also wondered if the clocks position could be changed on the top bar, like the XCPUScaler has an option to move the CPU load reading across the top bar, albeit it has a type of 'overlay' to do this.
Thanks again for posting on how to move the clock, much appreciated :)

Thanks for the response, I think I've found some information on rebuilding using the WM6 (JP) emulator files. The only thing I'm wondering is whether the IME and txt support will be installed... Apparently it worked out well for the original poster trying to switch his system to Greek.

I have some HT820's and I had to use the Bluetooth for one of the older ROM's before it would work. I do not have the link handy but it is in a much earlier post on this thread. One of the first few pages I believe. Once installed my sterio headphones (A2DP) worked fine.

I am using the latest 6.07.0 Release 3 ROM with the Kitchen, but I believe vivi hasn't updated the Kitchen with the latest ROM so you need to know how to extract the packages from the ROM and replace the packages in the Kitchen with the latest ROM packages (OEM and SYS folders).
If your not using the Kitchen and want to get A2DP working all you need to do is make a single registry change. Look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325727&page=112 for a solution to this. Short answer is that there seems to be a conflict in one of the OEM packages and a registry entry gets overwritten with an incorrect value.
You can get the original fix in cab form from http://4pda.ru/forum/attach/852921/_QwertY__Widcomm_Act.cab. Hope this helps.

Honestly, I've pretty much given up on A2DP on the Pocket PC platform. The only A2DP headphones I have are the HP Stereo headphones which works great using A2DP on a desktop computer, but it stutters, clicks, and is just plain noisy on the Axim x51v and HP hx4700 units that I use. The best stack for A2DP seems to be the latest Microsoft bluetooth stack that is released on WM6, but it still isn't as good as stacks running on the desktop. There are various hacks to help alleviate some of these problems, but they only work to a certain extent. If anyone has a perfectly running A2DP setup on their pocket pc I would like to hear about it.

My apologees for the link to the kitchen version of the A2DP fix. I just searched for it and posted that link without checking it. That was not what I had gotten. I don't understand why your set is not working. A2DP is a standard, it doesnt matter what the device is. Are you going through the bluetooth manager and choosing "New" then the top option? I think you have to go thtrough the GPS documentation and find out on which port it should be connected to th hx4700. That port is hardware specific and it might be different from one PDA to another.

Well, after alot of looking around, I noticed that com port 6 is what the hx4700 uses for that gps port; Im currently now looking for an older driver, the 1.32 version of the driver because I think i might be able to find some answers there;
I verified the unit works fine though because it works on my ipaq rx1955 and I know it should work on an hx4700 because reviews have been done on the gps using the hx4700

Thank you all for the advice and the suggestions and great appreciation for the remarkable work of Kozhura.
It is true, as it was claimed by Joef (post #203), that the hx4700 does its job well also with wm2003se, but if we were not always inclined to innovation which would do research? ... (For Joef, if read, how do you do the chart e.g.?)
OK, now a small problem: TomTom + CheckPoint vs wm6.
I installed the latest versions of Kozhura (from the 0.7) but aside the problems reported by others, I have always returned to the old wm2003se because after some hours of navigation with TomTom (and Checkpoint) all became slow, increasingly slow, until to the freezing.
Today I discovered that the access of CheckPoint have created a folder (''SdkFileCalls'') with log files to the rate of 2 (call + answer) every second (scan time setted); I suppose that WM2003SE delete automatically these files. At the moment I solved by unistalling the program and now I use the system for the detection of TomTom that, however, is less efficient because it is based on the distance and not on time as it did Checkpoint.

Kite

Except the new HP 211 will have the new Marvell PXA-310 "Monahan" processor at 624 Mhz. This is the same speed as the PXA-270 in the hx470x, but the Monahan is a much more efficient processor. It has hardware graphics acceleration build in to the processor. With 128 Mb of SDRAM and 256 Mb of built in Flash, it will be more capable of running WM6 faster with more programs running at the same time. The PXA-310 looks like it has some hardware support for USB HOST capability. I hope HP takes advantage. Imagine connecting your HP 211 to an external hard drive to play a Terabyte of music or videos :-) Or maybe hooking up a USB keyboard to do some typing? All this while using less power than the hx470x.
The HP-211 should put all previous PDA's to shame, if HP does it's job (this time).

Hi, Sorry to be redundant and ask for a reconfirm on the reconfirm but is this correct...the hx4700 works with SDHC? I repeat, SDHC as in "Secure Digital High Capacity" not just "Secure Digital" There was a lengthy back and forth on this thread about this feature not being available yet, and AFAIK, Kozhura has not mentioned anything about fixing this yet. Many people have been waiting for this ability for a long time and now, without any other anouncements, it works? Did I miss something? If it works, that's great, that's very very great! I'm just a little confused as to how it got fixed or whether it worked all along and we just didn't realize it??? Hmm.
Like you say, we can always try before we buy. Has anyone else tried?

Don't waste your money (or your time). The SD drivers included on the latest 4700 0.7.0 fix 3 ROM are the same BSQUARE Corp V1.2.0.0 drivers that were released with the official HP WM5 2.01 ROM (no change).

Does anyone know how to do it? Does a2dp work in latest ROM?
Ipaq 211 is not sufficient to our new roms, I know its a new proc but at 624Mhz is underpowered, by Intel specs it should be some 10% faster than the hx4700.
I've tried SDHC cards form Kingston and TwinMos neither worked and I don't think any will before Khozura says so

Has anybody experienced any problems getting the unit to fire up again after timing out and going into sleep mode? I'm regularly having to give the hard-reset button a poke to get the handheld running again. Twice I've even had to remove the battery completely when the reset button didn't work to wake it up. Thanks!
Mine sometimes does that if I have both CF and SD cards inserted all the time. I've found that I can only leave the CF card in with software installed. I only use an SD card for data or CAB files and take it after use. This has been happening with my hx4700 since the original official HP WM5 release was installed.

I have this problem....
You have to run the update program with the standard italian rom and then switch it with the english before update somehow. I did it a long time ago with the Japanese ROM into my hx4700. I forgot the exact instructions. It has something to do with HPRUU.ini, filenames, and copying. Quite simple if you know how to do it. I can't try it because after updating to japanese on wm2003 I updated to the japanese wm5. I don't plan on reflashing until I figure out how to translate the menus and get the japanese IME/SIP into the ROM.
Edit: I think you wait till the program connects with your device and checks... then right before the update change the HPRUU.ini from ITA to ENG and the filename(the actual filename not the one in the .ini) of the ROM (.nbf) you wish to put into the hx4700 to the name it states in the .ini. I think this is done because it has already stored the ROM name into memory, but the language information is not programed in until flashing. But remember I haven't done this since a year ago.
YOU MUST LOAD THE UPDATER OF YOUR INSTALLED LANGUAGE!

I emailed you back I don't believe you can flash an English rom into an Italian PPC.
With Chrismrulz bootloading tool you can flash ANY ROM into ANY PPC (same model of course).
Ooops! I forgot.

Thanks for your reply -- I DO have both my SD and CF slots occupied all the time. I flashed directly from my WM2003se directly to this WM6 ROM so these effects are new to me. I typically have all pgms and datafiles on my SD and leave my CF for conducting backups, file transfers (loading images from camera, loading documents to/from device)
Any workaround or fixes to this issue, anyone? Re: device not waking up after going to sleep, requiring a hard-reset (both mem card slots occupied at all times)

I have a 4G SD and 4G CF card in my 4700 and never have a problem with anything, I run my flight GPS software on the SD and the car GPS software and some other programs from the CF. They both work fine no matter what state the 4700 is in. I only used the SD in WM2003 but both in WM5 an WM6 .

Is it just me, or does it seem like the bluetooth radio suffers more "out of driver memory" issues with ROM ver.3 vs. ROM ver. 2?
Seems I NEVER had radio problem in 2, but 3 is almost as bad as 2003SE.

Having searched throught the forums, I've noticed references to a Black Transcriber cab file for another brand of mobile device. I understand the transcriber is removed by default however I am wondering if anything similar to the aforementioned cab exists for the hx4700 WM6 firmware?
Is this something that I can readd by copying some files and registry keys ie a simple recipe or is this an in depth process that really requires a custom firmware modification?
Cheers,
Salty.

The only Transcriber cab file that I have been able to get working with the hx4700 is the Transcriber cab for the Axim x51v. You can get it here: http://4pda.ru/forum/attach/888414/A17Transcriber.rar. Or you can use the Kitchen for the 4700 and put it back in (more work).

Hello all!
I'm having a problem with Windows Media Player in fix3. I was not able to select a different skin the first time I tried and now each time I open WMP, the skin selector appears and freeze the application for 2 or 3 seconds trying to find something...
Does anybody has the .CAB file to try re install it? Or maybe anyone had this situation? (it could sound stupid, but each time I try to play some mp3 files I'm facing this)
Thanks in advance for the help!

If you want to play MP3 only. I think GSPlayer is much better, because it have easier access to MP3 folders & also better sound quality

Does anyone have any ideas why my ipaq 4700 with windows mobile 6 fix 3 goes very slow at times, and you have to wait for it to catch up. ive noticed on some applications such as spb finance, when you click on scroll bar to move down, it goes down and doesnt stop, or when u click things it will not respond. ive no idea what is going on, do i have a 4700 fault or is it the os.

follow these instructions exactly, but replace the WM5 rom with the WM6 rom:
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=2046&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1#more2046
"In the first dialog, check in the checkbox and click Next. Go straight on UNTIL you see the Update button at the bottom"
As above, After I ran hpRUU.exe, I did check the checkbox and click Next, However, I did not get the "Update" button, and direct got a page that show my pda information and the software information for upgrade with only one button as "cancel".
Has anyone met same problem? Please help.

Sounds like you have your apps (for the most part) installed to internal memory. Because of the type of memory in the older (pre WM5) devices, installing apps internally is slower than you might expect in newer devices. There is a service that runs on the device that compacts memory for efficiency reasons. This event has the effect of slowing down the 4700 for moments to minutes.
the best proctice for the 4700 is to install all apps the external memory cards. (SD being the preference I believe)

No, there are other things going on, depending on what you have installed, even if it's all on CF or SD. I have never escaped intermittent slowdowns, most likely from compaction thread activity, despite having faithfully installed everything to memory card and avoided main memory as an installation location like the plague, from HP's WM5 through the latest Kozhura ROM. I can't tell you what programs are the culprits, I can just confirm that slowdowns are inevitable on the 4700. It will be variable depending on what you install and how you use your system, but it will hit you at some point, no exceptions, believe me.

I'm really very interested in this. Can it possibly be true? or are you pulling our collective legs? What conceivable technical reason could there be for this ?

I have also noticed intermittent slow downs and my 'impression' only is that it is caused by MS Active Sync. If you are having a slow down have a look in the system tray and see if the AS symbol is moving. Frequently whilst the hx4700 is synching with my PC I experience slow downs an the AS symbol is always in motion..
This is an impression only and not qualitative at all.

Well it's true that I never use my 4700 without the screen protector. I'm using kozhura's terrific 0.7.0 R3 ROM. I tried removing the protector once, but the language reverted to Russian. Since I can't understand Russian, I put it back on. Presto - English! Works great.;)

Alienkidmj12,
Sorry we were having fun with this post. I apologize.
No this won't fix your problem. It is indeed related to a thread called filesys.exe which periodically runs to clean up memory. There is nothing that can be done about it. It's a "feature" of WM5/6. Fortunately though if you put all your applications on either the SD or CF card, the run frequency and time of this will be greatly reduced.
