increase the pagepool to minimize compaction slowdowns, lots of info about this here at xda.

Hi,

I have found the instructions to increase page pool in other ROMS, but not in this one. Could someone tell me how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

I`m preparing a new WM6 ROM,whats the new:
1.FIXed conect Active Sync using BT
2.It s a new build and core (1933,build 18533)
3.FIXed default.hv,because RGUcomp hadn`t write some places in registry in Release 3
4.FIXed starting after flash (now you don`t have to do Hard Reset)
5.It will be new flash file,i got OS.nb0 from .nbf file, and now you can flash your ROM for 4-5 minutes:)

Thanks for your effort! Because of your work my HX4700 is great again. :) :)

I have one wish. Since a lot of people upgraded their device to 128MB ram (including me) 2 images, one with default pagepool and one with a larger pagepool (16MB) would be great. I'm afraid to modify the .NBF file

Thanks

Hi, this is my first post... I'm very excited to find a community and a person kozhura who is able to make our Hx4700 still up to date. I've WM2003SE but I've a lot of problems in particoular with WPA-Tkip PEAP wireless access.
But i don't understand if this problem has been solved. What about live messenger?
And what about translation in italian?
Are there this problems also in the WM5 3.5.2?

I thought there whould be a limited future for my 4705 iPAQ. The ROM update was easy, worked flawlessy from the start, and is a major improvement over WM2003 and that sketchy WM5 update provided by HP. I have not found anything that does not function properly, the speed is wonderful, and the only time I have to soft reset is when I do somthing stupid. You do wonderful work. Keep it up.

P.S. I would like to help the cause, Do you accept paypal?

I'd be willing to bet that most of us agree with mcdonn's post and it's been a while since anyone's posted on this topic.

As we all anxiously await the next great release (in fact one based on a new core!), I want to take a :) quick moment :) to ask our community here to consider the value of Kozuhura's time on this project.

The last time I checked, this thread had in excess of 340,000 page views! And Kozhura has developed at least six releases. These numbers alone show the popularity and excitement this new OS has generated for our HP-abandoned, magnesium-encased uber PDA's.

So I encourage all of us that can contribute comfortably, to please do so! If you think about it, not only is this a good thing to do, its really in our best interest.

Lastly, may I request that some of our members who post here and on the Russian forum investigate with Kozhura the opportunity to create a PayPal account for this. As others have stated, I hate paying a large brokering fee to change one payment to another. For other methods to contribute and show your appreciation, please see page 1 of this thread.

Thanks for allowing my interruption and now back to our thread and the upcoming release!!!
(full disclosure: I do not know Kozhura, or anyone else on this thread for that matter. I live in the US, and have unfortunately not visited Russia yet!)

Hi kozhura, do you think that the new rom will allow to send and appointment via bluetooth (i used to do this from de hx to my Sony-Ericsson) and with fix3 it is not working from Pocket Informant (an it worked on wm2003),maybe the bluettoth activesync issue will fix this too?

Editet by my fault, only happens with PI , using the default wm calender you can send an appointment via bluetooth, I'm sorry.

It seems to be in a different package than usual. I tried to load the rar file with the package from chrismrulez (the HP RUU bootloader package) and it said no files to extract. I un rar'ed the rel 4 download and loaded the .nb0 file directly from the bootloader app. It took about 8 minutes. I then Hard Booted it (Itask+Contact buttons while resetting). It said "Clearing Data" then rebooted (by itself). I was then presented with the setup your device screen.

Settings > About shows "CE OS 5.2.1933 (Build 18533.0.7.0)

Well, for a complete idiot's guide to upgrading ipaq 4700 (that's readme.txt), you should've mentioned that mtty.exe does not support copy paste. So... as it is written in readme.txt: WRITE command lnb OS_WM6.nb0, do not copy paste the command, coz it won't work. Blazingly fast write ROM otherwise.
Happy to see that you will have all the programs installed, on their place. I think you don't have to reinstall anything... Let's have a look.

well, i was able to restore from backup, and now my device is loaded with everything i need plus a new version of rom. I was able to sync over bluetooth with my computer. I noticed something: there's no Onenote mobile anymore on this rom. But that's ok, because Office 2007 comes with Onenote mobile . It looks more stable also, and after compaction thread has finished it's job the device is really fast.

One question: does it now support SDHC?

9th November 2007, 10:44 AM
Hi,

I have detected a small installation problem. If you go the "SD" way, you will find that Write_SD_ROM_to_SD.bat will not run. There is a "misalignment" in the path. You have to edit that file and, besides changing the drive letter as god, sorry, I mean Kozhura, says, change also the first directory name that appears there from /WM6_RELEASE4/ to /WM6_4700_RELEASE4/. Then everythig will be fine.

My first meaningful contribution!!! This is getting better all the time!!!

I had no trouble flashing following the directions in Readme.txt As ws said earlier just realize that when Khozura says "WRITE" he means "TYPE" the following text in to mtty.

So far I have seen some more bizzare behavior than in the past. LED's not coming on. Wifi behaving erratically. BT activesync was working but doesnt seem to want to in fix 4 (for me anyway)

Yeah, thats true. It always appear at the end of the flashing process...
It says something like Code Entry Point unknown... Done. In this case your iPAQ is succesfully flashed. But it happened to me, that the flashprocess got interrupted by +/- 30% and it showed an error message. I had to try flashing several times until it worked then. I dont know if anyone here knows that problem.

Well,

Today I have tried to upgrade my hx4700 for the first time.
It did take some effort following the readme.txt included in the .rar-file, which seems to be a little incomplete:

I found that before using the lnb command, you should enter the command "password BOOTLOADER" before the upgrade could be flashed.

Now I can finally try the WM6 on my PDA....
First impression: it looks great!!!

Now it's all ok... I've done this procedure at the end of flashing:
Lastly, perform a clean reset by pressing CONTACTS + INBOX + RESET. When asked to confirm the clean reset press CALENDER.
* NOTE: You may need to soft reset before or after doing this. This step is required by all bootloaders. (Solnyshok’s mod etc.) Don't skip it or it will not boot up.*

Have just finished installing this new rom and running it as much as I could. This appears to have the same core as the PDAVIET ROM (build 18533), but kozhura's is better in my opinion because:
1. It is STABLE. I have not found any problems with any application, bluetooth, or WiFi. (I do not use bluetooth headphones so have not tested A2DP.)
2. It is CLEAN! I like the fact that there are no embedded applications that I never use and only take up space. I have added all that I need and find this ROM is fast and responsive.
3. It was very simple to install. I followed EXACTLY the directions that kozhura has provided, but believe this would indeed also install perfectly with Chrismrulz's bootloader.

To minimize filesys.exe compaction issues, I have installed every app on my SD card.

No problems with any application, or battery draining. Bluetooth and WiFi started first time and are rock solid. This is just terrific, wonderful work. The only thing I can wish for is SDHC support, but with a 16GB CF card + 4GB SD, I have more than enough space for now.

Compaction thread Filesys.exe is part of WM5 and WM6. It kicks in periodically and there is nothing you can do about it. To minimize its impact, you need to keep memory clear and install as much as you can to SD or CF cards.

TomTom was working fine for me on R3. It would start bluetooth. However I have switched to IGO 2006 because I find it better for me. So I no longer use TomTom. With IGO, I need to start bluetooth separately. I believe that's just how IGO works. It's no big problem is it?

BTW, IGO works just fine in this new release. So that completes all my checks. This is a near perfect release by kozhura.

Regards.

after installation of release 4 rom, everything is fine, except messaging.

everytime i pick "new e-mail account", it go to outlook e-mail inbox directly, whether i use the account selector or the pull-down menu. more strange is that even inside the option menu, "new account..." does not respond. please help.

btw, kozhura, thanks for your great effort to revive my beloved hx4700. thank a lot.

A2DP is working well. To be honest I might have clicked on the Reg Export I did that sets the wavedevice to the BT one instead of standard wave. I don't think I did it, but it was late and I was tired so its possible.

yes, i have tried a2dp also. the quality is good. tested with creative bluetooth stereo headphone.

if you don t install prog on SD or CF, this will give some trouble with the
filesys ???? or the pb was only with WM5 ??
thanks a lot

i have a little pb with tomtom6
when i start it the Bt doesn t start from itself -> i have a Bt receiver
(i have to start Bt before running tomtom to make it working)
i have rom fix 3
thanks for your help :)

mmmm I'm just a little concerned with TT's behaviour in this latest ROM. It has always switched the BT on and off when launched / closed down. It is not a big issue in doing it yourself but I really did like that feature.

I think that I'll hold off on replacing version 3 of this ROM to see if anyone else could confirm this problem....?

i had the same problem on R3 but i noticed that sometime the Bt switch on and some time not (after launching TTN)
i updated the HX to R4 yesterday evening so i didn't have time to really test this

I use mortscript to change the volume and the position of the before launching TTN, may be i will add a line for switch on the BT

everyone is saying "great ROM" and so on, but I have seen nothing about what the difference is. Who can tell me about the changes, whats new or better then in ROM Fix 3? ROM Fix 3 is working absolutely fine for me, is it worth to move to Fix 4?

Kozhura, you are doing a really great job (shame on HP !). But when you offer a new Rom release, please write a changelog. I think, you did it at Fix3, please go on so.

Change seekers could be message diggers too!

I am having really problems with the Rev 4. There is so much lag/latency in use... I've reverted back to release 3. problems:

1. Unable to restore from backup.
2. Up to 5 second lag on pressing screen to something happening

I've reflashed it 3 times with rev 4 - going back to both rev 2 and rev 3 inbetween.. and still the same problems.

Anyone else notice the latency?

Thanks

Well Truly Kozhura You are a Great Developer but yet I cannot understand what's the problem bout posting a changelog in the first post of this topic. Each time you edit the post to link the new files you could just paste the changelog +_+ It's really irritating to dig up posts to find the news from You.
I would also recommend to make the first post sticky :)

Yes you can but not forget to clean reset the device at the and of flashing by pressing CONTACTS + INBOX + RESET. When asked to confirm the clean reset press CALENDER.
You may need to soft reset before or after doing this.

Yes I notice the latency, quite severe at times, but revision 4 is the first version I tried so I can't compare it with other versions. Other than the latency though it is perfect. I never thought I'd see WM6 on my 4700. I may try revision 3 but I'll probably just hang on for the next version as I have total confidence that this is just going to get better and better. I have to say thanks to Kozhura for breathing new life into my old PDA!!

Hp should be so lucky!...

I do not think that HP ever wished for such an awesome source of testing and documentation database!!!

Thanks Kozhura and everyone here for all the info I have found on the HX4700. I finally get the feeling I am getting value for my $$$!!!

I have tested a few ROMs, which I had never done before. Reading this forum gave me the courage to try it and am now pretty confident on how to do it. After all, what can go wrong with these brilliant ROMs, right?? he he :D

I have encountered a few issues with this WM6 ROM though (I do not think I have the very latest version though) Bluetooth cannot start due to insufficient driver memory (I install programs on the SD card) and the volume control does not work. I put the volume on full and automatically it goes all the way down to minimum. So no Bluetooth and no sound. No good for Tom tom!! :(

I have tried the WM5 ROM, and I faced the same Bluetooth issue, however not sure that I had the volume problem...

I use GPS quite a lot, so Bluetooth is a big must. I will keep trying these ROMs to see if I find one that works on my HX4700.

Any hints?

Thank you very much to everyone posting here, but most specially to Kozhura!!

Then I have one problem, the GPRS Setting style seem to be changed.
From where can we set the the extra dial-string modem command like +cgdcont=1,”ip”,”internet”?
And also I couldn't use Bluetooth PAN from other HTC WM6 device's Internet Sharing function. Are there any way to use it?

Thanks in advance.

Remember to delete the \Windows\program files\Games folder to improve the speed !

Let Compaction complete, and Release 4 is even faster than release 1 (I skipped release 2 and 3)

I assume you have paired & connected to your BT GPS device. Also turned off the serial port security, also you may need to uncheck the auto connect to your GPS {device name = BT GPS etc] in the BT setting page select Serial then advanced
I used the Chrismrulz's bootloader to load Rom version 4. No problems. I had tried with the SD card but it got wiped (or unformatted) and didn't seem to work. I have SPB pocket plus (3.0.4). Igo 2006+ works fine and Automatically connects to the Bluetooth GPS. I install programs to device so I can swap SD cards if necessary. I've found no obvious latency or slow action time. The only thing I have found (but not the ipaq's fault but active sync's 4.5.0 I think) is that it seems much slower to sync than with the 3.8 version. I know i was forced to got to ActiveSync4.5 when upgrading to WM5 or WM6. Not loaded Tom Tom (probably unlikely as Igo is the best (IMHO). Waiting for Igo8 eagerly.:) :D

Some versions of Tomtom 6 overwrite one of the bluetooth .dll's. You need to take a copy before you install TT6 then restore the file once TT is installed. Unfortunately I can't remember which file it is as it is a long time since I had this issue myself.

this topic pops up in cryptic bits and pieces on this thread and elsewhere.

My unit has been upgraded (128MB memory) so that I have the capacity for a larger PagePool for running several apps concurrently (.. and perhaps manipulate cache and have a RAM disk). Vivi's updated Kitchen has just been posted for Kohzura's new WM6-ver-4. All these are great presents under the Xmas tree as we have now seriously rejuvenated PPCs with great VGA-16bit screens.

We sure would benefit from a discussion and comprehensible procedure for addressing PagePool and RAM disk customizations. Mind you, of the some 350,000 followers of these threads .. only a small percent are hackers .. most like I are users with lower capabilities across the spectrum, but intensly interested in tweaking our PPCs to suit our unique usage; and 'bricking' our units no longer seems to be the threat it was just a few weeks ago, thanks to Chris's great BootLoader.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Frank KF

BTW .. with an upgraded (128MB memory) .. does the system recognize and use all 128?

PS: Almost forgot.. I installed the latest ROM (v4) via the chrismrulz Bootloader .. everything works well, have not run into latency issues (yet). Tested WiFi at Paneras' last night, perfect. BT-stereo headset works great, BT-mouse .. OK; Delorme BlueLogger GPS .. ditto; BT-keyboard .. always fussy in past, no exception now.

That would be: HKLM>Services>NavPointService. After you delete it, make sure you flush the registry and reboot to make sure it is truly gone.

However, I have also removed this but find that whenever filesys.exe kicks in, the 4700 drags. Fortunately this is not often or for long, if you keep all apps on SD or CF cards. So I would like to know what others have found with removing this registry key.

Menneisyys published some tweaks for WM5 - some of which may still be helpful in WM6. His 4700 blog is at: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&cat=96. But I think kozhura has already done what's possible in regards to speed. This is already so much better than HP's WM5 fraud.

No prob here with BT, did you installed TomTom on your device with a cab? Then remove BtCoreIf.dll and BtSdkCE30.dll again from you Windows dir and reboot again. That way the original installed BT drivers will be used again. It's a common 'problem'

edit: the latest 6.032 works just fine as well if you remove both files described above.

Hi all,

First I used fix #3 without any problems. My hx4700 was running faster and more stable then ever before. All programs (tomtom 6.030, IE, bluetooth, etc) worked great.

After that I used fix #4 and flashed without any problems and much quicker then the 3rd release!

But when I started using the hx4700 I noticed that the flashing process did not entirely deleted the previous version. This resulted in a lot of double files in my programs folder. And a lot of programs were still installed but did not work properly.

Today flashed back to fix 3 and all is smooth again.

So I will stick to fix 3 for this moment. But please let me know your experiences because I'm always willing to try again.

By the way I'm also searching for a good way to change the language of my rom to dutch. Suggestions are welcome.....

When you flash to ver 4 and don't ike and rturn to ver 3 how are you restoring your files as each flash would require a complete re-install of all programs as a backup like spb backup would backup ver 3 or 4 system files does it not ? or

are we supposed to flash to new flash version and just restore a backup.

any help here appreciated

I think it's because only the OS part of the ROM is flashed (which is also why it's so much faster). So, if you want to start clean, you should do a clean reset after flashing, not before.

Just be aware though that it deletes the contents of your SD card, well it did for me.

First impressions:

- one note is missing in office mobile (was there in release 3)
- seems a bit slower then rel 3 but not so much.
- quick flash indeed
- Still in English (want to cook it to dutch...any help? I already have the vivi kitchen)
- Looks stable
- All programs seem to work (Tomtom, IE, bluetooth, resco file explorer 2007)

There should be a link in windows folder that you can put in the Startup folder. Its called iPAQWireless.lnk. Or you can create one, it points to \Windows\iPAQWireless.exe and you need to add -s at the end of the "Target" line.

Khozura, Thanks again for another Rom. I too have been experiencing abberant bahavior. WiFi Exchange synching working then not working. Bluetooth sync the same way. Other issues. I did a clean reset. Contacts + Mail + soft reset hole. Press Calendar button at the prompt. It took about 30 seconds to a minute then booted up in to the OS.

I am just experiencing some very peculiar behavior that I did not see in ROM3

I'm having similar issues (still on kozhura's WM5) with insufficient driver memory, but it started after having the device upgraded to 128 mb ram :(
Does your device have 128 mb ram, by any chance?

I'll try with a reflash to fix4...

What about 10% battery low fix (SD, CF slots)?
Is it included in this release as previously announced?

Hi bundleofjoy, after foxbatul's comments, I started checking Google for further info about the TomTom Version. It has nothing to do with the ROM, so no matter what you flash, you will still have the problem.

It seems to be Tomtom6 that's causing all the problems with BT and sound. It seems to replace a few bluetooth Dlls. Do you have Tomtom installed? is it version 6.000 or superior?

Try searching Google for tomtom 6 problems with Bluetooth. I have not tested it yet, but to resolve this, you will need to hard-reset the device to restore the files (I tried replacing the files but it does not allow me, says they are in use.) then install a higher version of tomtom, 6.010 or 6.020, as long as it's not 6.000

I will give it a shot next weekend.

My device has 128 Rom and 64 RAM. I install all programs, including TT on SD card (1Gb Card)

Good Luck!! Let us know if this solves your bluetooth problems as well.

Saltin!

After flashing Fix4 ActiveSync is no longer working even before installing any programs. The desktop computer connects to the hx4700 so I can access files, but then ends with the error message "Synchronisation could not be finished ...". With reflashed Fix3 everything works fine.

Does anybody experience similar problems?

I can't really make a2dp work. I succeded to connect my headphones to a HTC Tytn II, and it worked beautiful, but when i return to Ipaq 4700 , it simply can't connect. I can make a pairing with the headphones, but when i press connect, it just disconnects me and tells: please verify that you device is in range and the selected service is working. Well the device is in range, and the service is up and running. I can't figure out what's happening: fix 3 and 4, both have the same problem. The headphones are Logitech (those that break, and stolen by HP, and rebranded)

From where can we set the the extra dial-string modem command like +cgdcont=1,”ip”,”internet”?
And also I couldn't use Bluetooth PAN from other HTC WM6 device's Internet Sharing function. Are there any way to use it?

Regards.

For tomtom it s really a little pb ..so i ll live with :):)

for filesys.exe -> have i to put temporary internet files on SD or CF ???
and how to do so ???
what modification have i to do to improve Hx4700 ?? (i read something about

what are the best tweak to do on Fix3 of kazura ???

I put the Fix 4 on as soon as it was released last friday. I played with it all weekend but ended up returning to Fix 3 Last night.

Issues I had:

1. Bluetooth sync was sporadic. It would work one time then not the next. Sometimes tweaking settings in the connection fixed it some times not (ie... security and authentication check boxes)

2. Active Sync to exchange via WiFi was sporadic also. It would say it synced and the date of sync even showed it was updated but then I would hit the OWA page of the exchange server there were emails there that my PPC hadn't downloaded. Soft reset and sometimes it would work after.

3. Activsync when cradled started acting up. I would get a message saying I couldnt sync with the settings I had on both the PC and the PPC and nothing was different or wrong with my settings than with Fix 3.

4. I noticed several things seemed way more sluggish than in Fix 3. One thing in particular was the today screen. I bought WeatherPanel Pro and have used it since 2003SE. I like it a lot but I noticed in Fix 4 whenever I would close apps and return to the today screen it would take up to 25 seconds for the weatherpanel today panel to appear, not so with Fix 3

5. Have to soft reset fairly regulary.

Before anyone asks, I actually reflashed Fix 4 a second time. That time Clearing the Memory ( Contacts + Messaging + Soft Reset button) before and after flashing to make sure it was clear and Fix 4 behaved the same way after both installs.

After Returning to Fix 3 all of the above issues have dissappeared.

Khozura, thanks for all your hard work I do not write this to complain or bash this project for without it my PPC would not be what it is today. Thanks!

I haven't had any real problems with my 4700 and Fix4, but it does seem a little sluggish. Nothing major, like the HP version of WM5, but is noticeable. Since I haven't had time to install all my applications with Fix4 I am running with a Sprite Restore from Fix3, so there may be issues with this installation that are unique to my setup. When I get some time I'll try a clean boot of Fix4 and re-install my applications.

Interesting that some are having performance issues with R4. Fortunately I suppose, but my experience with this release has been quite good so far.

I installed R4 several days ago and have not noticed any sluggishness except when the compaction thread runs - but this was the case with all previous releases AND WM5. I don't have any performance measurement tools so have no empirical evidence, but R4 seems fairly quick. I have all applications installed on an SD card.

R4 including Bluetooth and WiFi has been very stable for me. The only time I find a reboot is needed is when I remove and insert the SD card on which all my apps are located.

Would be great if someone could do a performance test on this release to see how this release compares to R3. If someone can tell me how to test this, I would be happy to run a test and post results.

Seems that under version4, my WIFI is a little unstable. well, I don't have any disconnect issues, once it's turned on, HOWEVER, when I initially turn it on, it switches on, I get a busy icon, then it turns off. I then have to click it again, I get the busy icon, then it's fine.

This seems to happen EVERY time I use it.

Bluetooth radio seems fine (Even under TomTom).

On athird clean install of R4, I tried to do a sprite restore from R3 back-up via SD card. When I inserted the SD card in, it took 25 seconds before the sprite backup screen was displayed; with R3 it takes less than 3 seconds....

There's definately something going on which is causing latency, but it appears to be focused on launching applications rather than running them afetr they have been executed.

Carlson Surv CE.carlsonsw.com)Locks up,or completely exits program, when I attach my Otterbox keypad.(this new RELEASE 4)Have flashed twice, hard reset ect,Program runs fine, untill attaching Keypad, Keypad also works outside of this program fine (just a new issue, have not tested robotics yet either) minor issues from Sprite Restore, I think its best to use restore only on same version.(New core, so reload apps seams to solve a lot of minor issues, delete all accts and reinstall, took care of Wi-Fi issues, no issues with BT found)I think the latency is more noticable. Maybe time for NavPoint to go.Still very impressed and Thankfull, as other versions will still work,;) Learning a lot and this is exciting and fun.

I do not have Sprite backup but did the same with my GPS program (which installs from an SD card). The startup time was 5 seconds. This appears to be consistent with other apps that start - except for Pocket Music - which takes forever. But it did that with previous versions too.

My apps are all on the SD card and I have deleted the NavPointService registry key. I also have the PPCTechs 128M upgrade. Wonder if that makes a difference? Anyway, I will look for a performance measuring tool and post results I get. If someone could do that with R3, then we will have numbers to look at.

You will need to use a registry editor (I use Resco).

HKLM>Services>NavPointService. Just select it and delete it. Then flush the registry by resetting the device. Go back to check to make sure it is gone.

Hope this helps you.

Hi

1. Do you get the "USB>" prompt?
2. Have you followed through with the correct sequence of commands (i.e "password BOOTLOADER")?
3. in case you get an "Unable to sync with host" error make sure you do not use
backslashes ("\") in your command syntax but only slashes ("/") instead.

I can only refer you to Menneisyys's blog on the 4700. Although he will not comment on WM6, he has a wonderful review of kozhura's WM5 release. WM6 is based on WM5 so can benefit from the same tweaks. He's the expert on why this works, so you may want to read his blog at: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=2046&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1#more2046

First time posting but ive been following this thread for a long time. Like everyone else I want to say thanks to Kozhura for bringing life back to my 4700.

I have learned alot from this forum and wanted to share what I found worked with the lag issues some have been experiencing with Fix4 because i had them as well, hopefully im not repeating a post if it has already been stated and I hope it is helpful to some. At first I was concerned about the compaction issue and how some have stated to load everything onto storage to minimize its effects, which i did. For me, I found that this actually caused filesys to kick in more than usual and soft resets would not stop it... what i realized was that some applications like Calligrapher and pocket plus actually cause the filesys to run more often if they are on a storage card for whatever reason, (I didnt experience this happening on Kozhura's WM5). So my solution was to move all today and start up applications back to main memory... now it runs faster and more stable than the wm5 version. also some one mentioned that wifi does not work the first time after boot up, i noticed that the wifi does turn off but if you wait for 2 seconds without touching anything the wifi turns back on and then connects automatically.

So again thanks for the great forum and thanks Kozhura for all your hard work!

I have posted a solution that I have been told by others works just fine for getting certs installed. Please use the search tool on this thread to find it. I will only say here that it involves using WM5 to install the cert and export the reg entry then import that reg entry in to WM6 and it WORKS!!! I use it for WPA and exchange certs and had to use this method to solve my problem.

If you have or know someone who has a WM5 box you should be able to get them to import the .CER file and export the Key without yourself having to revert to WM5.

I downloaded the vivi kitchen for your version.

How can I change the splash screen?

And how to change language (if possible)?

Great job for working the hx4700 ROMS, you are a real hero and pioneer!!

To 'deactivate auto start' on cradle installation open Active Sync, go to File, Connection Settings and untick 'Open Activesync when my device connects'. So you then have to start AS manually after that until changed back to a tick in the settings. :)

WELL Done Kozhura! No problem with mine (V4)

Hi. Kozhura. I'm your great fan. I've used new Rom for hx4700.
I just wonder new ROM supports SDHC. A lot of users in PDA communities want your new ROM supports SDHC function. Actually it doesn't matter to me whether it supports or not. But if possible, it will be better.

I am longing for your precious ROM. Good day to you.

Hi everybody, first of all I would like to thank "Santa K" :) for this new wings I have on my hx4700.

In my case everything works fine except some charging battery issues:

- The flashing led when charging is not working anymore.
- I can't charge the iPaq thru AC Adapter, just using USB
- Whe I tab on charging icon it didn't show me any information about charging status.

Does anybody have any of this problems?

Thanks to everybody for your supports and greetings from Spain!!! :D

GSX600FMAN

I use SPB backup. The backup utility, in theory, is not necessary as you will never lose the data (calender & contacts) because they are stored in permanant part of memory, Unlike previous versions (2000,2002, 2003 & WM5)

Probably one of the best backup utilities for the PDA market is Sprite backup. I have used this each time to restore my hx4700 after I have changed ROM's and each time that has not been any issues at all. Saves having to reinstall all of your apps.....

There are recent posts from Kozhura stating ("сегоня скорее всего выложу русскую пошивку,английской пока не будет") which has something to do with thenew Russian and English build. I know with Chrismrulz's bootloader, after you do a clean reset you need to wait a minute or so then do a clean reset a second time. It then boots up fine. While I did not need to do this with the latest process that kozhura describes for R4, you can try that. It may help.

Hello,

I yesterday flashed Windows Mobile 6 .0.7.0 Release 4 ENG in my Hx4700 with 128 MB RAM. I need several hard resets, soft resets after it, but just after five, ten minutes all started fine.

Now I tried to connect with my mobile phone Nokia 6233 but this needs an APN (+cgdcont=1,"IP",internet.eplus.de) input to connect correctly. In WM2003SE it was in the extended input fields of bluetooth configuration. Now I just find TCP/IP and server input pages. The pages for the baudrate, APN entry is missing. Is it on a completly different position as in WM2003SE or realy missing ?

By the way, I'm trying to donate kozhura with PayPal2WMZ, but until today it seams not to work. Any other way to donate ?

Glad it worked for you and glad to have helped. However, kozhura is the genius here and not me. He's saved a lot of 4700's from oblivion. As one more suggestion, don't forget to remove the navpointservice registry key. It will make your 4700 much better. :)

You can not make that assumption.
WinPilot and SeeYou are in a total different leaque then Pocket FMS and Navzilla.

Really? NAV or PFMS are not WM6 either. All of them are flight GPS software. I'm curious why NAV and PFMS are in a different league since all of them are not supported by WM6 but will work fine under WM5? Winpilot will work for aircraft or gliders and I have used Winpilot under WM5 with no problem. So knowing that NAV, PFMS and Winpilot all work under WM5, NAV and PFMS work fine under WM6, I'd have to place my money on Winpilot having an issue with WM6. I could be wrong, just me 2 cents.

on your PPC open ActiveSync. Choose Menu --> Configure Server. Point it to your exchange server and follow the rest of the prompts. Your Exchange admin has to have it set up for synchronizations like this. ie.. firewall open etc...

I'm having the same problem every some time and it started from the very begining of my adventure w/WM6 on hx4700 (release1).
I'm suspecting WiFi to be the couse of it but I'm really not sure 'cause it's hard to track.
I don't even know if it's WM6 by itself causing the problem or it's some additional software I'm installing, maybe Egress (RSS reader) - I often use it and my iPaq freezes usually when egress is left opened.
Anybody else has similar problem?
