hold the power button..the voice recorder button (top left side) and put stylus into the soft reset ... this willput ur phone in bootloader mode..coonect phone to usb and run the exe from ur desktop..

I've already downloaded the Verizon Wireless version; tried the one with the boat=loader but "no file available" was indicated.

When a text message comes in, you cant see the name or number of the person that sent the text message to you. so when you tab "reply" on the return address it has the first couple of lines of the text message received as the contact name. This means you have to always guess who sent you the message and then compose a new message to them. .

thats funny, i dont have that problem at all. texting works just fine for me. i can see the text and who its from on the notification. when i hit reply, it shows the text, but who sent it is cut off. if i press up, it shows who its from/being sent to.

Excuse an old man....but how does one turn the power on and off on the device after the update? There used to be a small button in the lower right hand portion of the screen. Other than that.....VERY COOL.

This update is awesome. I have one issue. I can not get my xv6700 to connect to my home wireless network. I haven't made any changes to the network, and the 6700 was working fine wirelessly last night. I've tried just about all the settings, and have not had any luck. It will say "connecting" but it never goes beyond that, and eventually says "unavailable".

I am also having wifi problems I have tried installing the update and hard resetting the device. I wonder if the verizon customizations are affecting the radio. Bluetooth works great and I have connected to everything with it. I can see all the hotspots in my hood when the radio is on just get stuck in connecting even to unsecure networks.

Ok I resolved the wifi issue. I did a hard reset and resynced all my stuff. goto settings and under the connection tab click wifi and then add new follow the prompts and you should be all set. btw i let all the verizon customizations do their thing at flash time.

Hi All

I am trying to install this on my Bell 6700.

If I put it directly into bootloader mode, when it tries to query the device for information, it hangs and bails, if I run the program when activesynced, it will read the device fine, put it in bootloader mode, then die with an error 201.

It does say USB on the bootloader screen

Any suggestions?

On the upgrade I made the mistake of unlocking the ExtRom using the icon in Programs. Unfortunately Mobile Outlook now treats the ExtRom as the Storage device for attachments. I can no longer store attachments on my SD card so basically I can only store a few messages on the device.

Question --- how do you RElock the ExtRom so it doens't show up as a storage medium??

It seems like the message body is overwriting the sender # instead of appending to it, or something similar.

If you get a short SMS (like 'Y' or something), it will show up as:

Yxxxxxxxxx

Where x == the last 9 digits of the 10 digital phone number.

According to PPC Geeks, the problem was I let the Sprint customizer run.

Hard reset and soft reset when the customizer screen came up. All good now!

I too am having this problem and the Text Messaging address not showing problem. I am on alltel. Other than that it is awesome and i am sure even those two things are my n00b fault - I just don't know how to fix them.

there is a way to fix this problem. actually 2.

fix 1: since your screen is stuck at that, keep it connected to the usb, run the ROM updater program again. everything should be fine.

fix 2: download from sprint or UTStartac website the ROM updater program and run that, that will return you to WM5.

to get it from sprint, log-in to your accout, click "phone details", then click "download software", choose windows CE, then choose the Update file for the PPC6700.

You can use that to re-flash your bricked ppc6700. it will no longer be bricked. tried and true.

I installed the Alltel WM6 rom on my 6700 and i have to say its fantastic! :)

I even donated $5 to Helmi via PayPal. not much $ but thats what i can afford. its also the 1st time I've ever done anything like that. if everyone would just give a few bucks to great programmers like Helmi it would keep the good stuff coming. i know he must speed hour and hours at night working on this stuff and i want him to know its appreciated

Since I switched to the new Apache WM6 on my Alltel 6700 every thing runs fine except my icons from some of my installed applications wont come up in pocket plus after about three resets and my garmin mobile will only run after a reset. When I soft reset the phone I can start garmin with no problem over and over again. but after I use the phone for other things and then go back and start garmin I just get the busy circle. The circle stays on the screen until I press ok and then it just goes away and the program never starts. I have tried reloading the program, reloading the original version and hiding the ext_rom but nothing fixes the problems.

does anyone know what the cause may be?

I am running into an issue that I believe can be solved with a regedit.

When I send a text message, all goes well, I get the standard message sent, then I get a kickback text message that says my phone number the number it was sent to and the word SUCCESS. I searched and did not find an answer to this issue. If it has been asked I am sorry but please point me towards how I can research and solve it myself. Thanks...

i have the problem of sms message wouldnt have the sender name and phone number on my apache. when ever someone send me a txt i have like the first world of the txt as the sender and when u click reply it wouldnt go anywhere.

i read ppcgeek in the fix post and i find out that when i flash the rom dont let it install the customerize cabs. when that pops up do a soft reset. then when it reboot again just go to program and run extrom Unlock. go to ppcgeek http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=3660 and see which cabs is needed for ur carrier. i have sprint so i just install all the optional stuff that they posted. then reset it. it works like a charm.

Hello Wescorp7, quick question re: Garmin Mobile XT, I have been trying for 2 days and it won't recognize my Bluetooth Holux m-1200. Pathway, IGO all find it without a problem, any ideas, or does it only recognize if from a particular port???

i have read over these threads for hours and have tried to piece together the actuall instructions for this install... but i have many questions on what to do.

1. i DLed the file and ended up with a .rar file... no executible file there to click on. how do i start the install?

2. do i reset (hard) my phone before installation? if so, how do we connect to our comp to upgrade if it is set to factory default? don't we need the active sync upgrade?

if anyone can answer these questions, provide step by step instructions, and/or point to the thread containing them, i would be VERY apprecative! thanks!!

Rar is a compression file like zip. User Winrar(rarlabs.com) to unpack I recommend it so highly id buy it if i were you (and yes I have a legal copy), but it will operate in trial mode indefinately

The rar unpacks into an exe, which unpack and install the ROM

You do need to put your PPC in a "Program Me" mode
press the Record and Power Buttons and the Reset with stylus for 1 second. Your screen will have no backlight with the word "Serial" on it, when you plug it in to USB and the USB into your computer it will Change to USB this is good. I am not positive if you must have activesync 4.5 already installed (i use it for somethings so I did, but Activesync brings the drivers for WindowsXP to recognize PocketPCs. (If you use Vista, I have heard there is much problems flashing...but I don't use Vista as a general rule)

I have use Helmi_C wm6 rom since its conception, and i RECOMMEND a COLD HARD reset AFTER Install.:) but technically not required. (To do that hold down both softbuttons and press your reset button with stylus for about 2 seconds.)

Also I'd recommend update the radio to 1.41 (should be able to find file either on this site or www.ppcgeeks.com) personally, as Helmi_c has only created a ROM image (on that note Thanks Helmi for all your work. My wife and I both use 6700 with WM6 and love it)

You should cruise the Apache sites also because there is a bug in the ROM that does not allow you to Dial 911 without a stolen dialer from the Mogul. And a patch for Wifi-WPA

I think Verizon Wireless Hack Hemis WM6. I can seem to upgrade from WM5 to WM6 using Hemis WM6. On Tuesady I updated the software from the Verizon Wireless site. This is the software version I downloade from VZW XV6700 AKU3.zip APA_Verizon_31430_314208_14300_WWE_Ship_2.exe

Any One Do Not Upgrade There Xv-6700 On The Verizon Wireless Site... I Just Found Out That The Lates Aku Software Update Is Hack To Block You From Installing Hemis Wm6... Thats Why Im Unable To Install Hemis Wm6 Because I Fell In The Trap From Verizon Wireless And Updated The Aku 3.3 Software Thinking That Is Was The True Wm6 Version For The Xv-6700. And It Replaces The Bootloader To A Diffrent Version. So You Will Not Be Able To Re Install Your Older Rom Because Of The Flash Ram..... Beware Of Verizon Wireless They Just Want Us To Buy Them A Diffrent Model With Wm6.

@drivenblck1: If you have never done any major modification to your Apache (and since you didn't really know what it was called, I'm going to make the assumption that you haven't) I'd suggest that you do a bunch of reading on this forum and the one I mentioned above before you undertake a ROM upgrade. It's a lot easier to do things when you know what you are doing rather than having to ask a bunch of questions and start to panic when your phone won't reboot and you need it when you have to leave for a meeting in 15 minutes.

One small thing when you receved a Text in WM5 you got the name of the person who sent the Text but now in its place in WM6 it just there cell phone number and I never know who has sent it untill I open it ...I have looked and look surfed and surfed the net looking for a way to change this Im on the Telecom New Zealand network
