View Full Version : Free CID unlocking for G4 update????

I know that Whiterat and EquinoXe were working on a free way to CID unlock a G4 wizard and that there were problems. I know it's a delicate thing to work on and we need to be patient, but I was just curious of how the progress was coming.

-NEWSUPDATE

-We have left the imei-check software, and began again with proven methods used for other devices.

We are making progress!
-A patched G4 SPL has been made by Olipro.
After testing a SPL which I patched killed a wizard, he was so kind to check my patchwork.
He took a complete different approach and patched the SPL in the good old Olipro style :)

We are currently in the testing fase of this new Olipro SPL.

I hate the way I have to flash ROMS in the G4. So your work will be well received. Thanks for taking your time working on it.

I know I am new here but I would also be very interested in learning how to sim and CID unlock my MDA. By the way if anyone is interested. Tmobile has these new for 79.00 on there website. I just added a line and bought the phone new. I asked and they told me it was NOT a refurbished phone! I can't believe they still have these. Could HTC still be making these?

It has to be an IPL/SPL free ROM... that means there isn't any of them (IPL/SPL).

you not alone mate.

I flashed my XDA Mini s phone yesterday with the black diamond wm6 rom. now it is stuck at a splash screen and i can't run the r2sd command cause it is cid locked, and best of all i am stuck in south africa and only had the phone for 3 days ....

So i have thrown it in the cupboard till a free cid unlock app comes along. There is no way in hell i am paying 40 bucks to unlock it when there is a chance that it may never work again.... 40 usd is 400 rand in my currency, that is more than a weeks petrol at work.

So if anyone knows a way to unlock it please mail me at amaedict@gmail.com

it would be very much appreciated.

You can't be paranoid... That's how you make the mistakes and actually do brick the phone. Just take a dive and take a chance. Unless you do something totally out there, there isn't much of a chance you're gonna brick your phone. I have thought my MDA was bricked so many times but there is almost always a way to fix it and if you can't find it, someone here will almost always help you. You just need to make sure you read all instructions and warnings before you do it and then read em as your doin it to make sure you are doing it correctly.

My suggestion is never attempt changing the rom unless your phone has a full charge. This way the battery doesnt die in the middle of reverting back to stock should you "brick" the phone leaving it completely useless.

Seccondly, always have a copy of your operators original rom backed up on your computer. Find it and download it if you have to.

Take a chance. I dove into all of this totally clueless and now I almost feel like I'm getting to be a pro because I have done it so many times.

My favorite quote is "You never know if you never try" and you will never get it done if you dont take the chance.

Good luck.

Still curious, like everyone else here...
But I'm actually here to offer some help...

I have a spare G4 wizard...
The speakers aren't working anymore, so someone dumped it...
I was able to flash a wm6 ROM using shelltool...
So if you need any help on testing your patched SPL/IPL... :)
I really don't care if it gets bricked as long as it's for a good cause (G4 unlocking!)...

If you need it/me, please PM me...

Thanks to all the tallented people here on this site. Just learned to flash and now have BlackDiamond 2.0 on my 8125. However, the flash method is difficult cause it's always trial by error for me. It took me several tries before I was succesful. Thank you DR. Dot. Faria Crossbow, and Mr Frazzzz for your knowledge. Reading your post's really saved my 8125 from becoming a uselesss paper weight. If I could get my this phone cid unlocked, who knows what other roms I might be able to try.

8125 Cingular
sim unlocked-used Lokiwiz3.0:)
cid locked:(
BlackDiamond 2.0
Rom 6.0.0.0 wwe
Radio 02.25.11
Protocol 4.1.13.12
ExtRom DrDot
ipl/spl 2.25.0001

UPDATE:

Due to a small bug in HaRET (the loader for the SoftSPL) I was under the false impression that the softSPL didn't work.
Yesterday, Whiterat rechecked it, and noticed that it was working but didn't generate a 3 coloured screen as we expected, but instead a white screen which I had interpeted as a crash.

He then succesfully managed to flash a hardSPL to his G4 wizard, using the softSPL.

Today saa044 succesfully flashed a rom to his CID locked G4, using the softSPL and a standard RUU. :)
I also successfully flashed a rom to my CID (re)locked G3, to test if the softSPL was safe for G3's. (it is :) )

Whiterat is now trying to make a permanent solution (superCID the G4).

So stay tuned, there is a working solution.

Do we finally get to see and use the ultimate solution to this stupid G4 CID-lock?

It has to be an IPL/SPL free ROM... that means there isn't any of them (IPL/SPL).

What do you meen by that? That every rom has ipl/spl in them, even the one's on xda? Or are you saying the roms found here are ipl/spl clean and that they do not consist of ipl/spl.

RELEASED!!!

Remember it's a sSPL that will only CID unlock every run and not definitely! meaning every time you flash a ROM you must run the sSPL!!

And to ease the process, it's completely automated and calls the upgrade utility.
It's almost the same as upgrading with a RUU.

When you turn your phone on it should say IPL SPL.

If it is IPL 2.xx SPL 2.xx (x could be any number) then it is a G3 device. If the IPL 2.xx.xx SPL 2.xx.xx then its a G4. Simple as that.:)
