I upgraded my phone to the Schaps WM6 Pro ROM and while I love it for the most part and like all the free memory it seems very slow and sluggish in many ways. When someone calls for example it takes a long time to come out of standby and update the screen. It usually only rings once because of this and I can't pick up calls until the other person is gone. It also seems very sluggish closing windows and stuff like that. The old WM5 basic ROM the phone came with was pretty snappy for the most part and I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make this sluggishness better because I love the look and layout of this ROM.

I have Shap's 3.54 and it's fast - don't have the problems you mentioned.

Some Tips:
Always try to install only the programs you need as every program slows down the PDA's a little bit!
Be careful with today-plugins as they slow down the Hermes, too.

Did you try Shap's light-version ?
Maybe you want to try the "Ultra Ultra Lite Re-furbished 3.60 rom" (just an idea...)

I also found Shap's 3.54 rather slow and I only installedXCPU Scalar and 2 or 3 simple games. I kept it constantly at 500 mhz but it still was very slow. (Compared to my Vario I with Black Diamond rom @ 195 mhz which was way faster) So now I'm on the TNT 2.0 rom which is really really fast. No need for XCPU Scaler anymore.

ATTENTION
Overclocking-Programs don't work on Hermes yet AFAIK.

?? What do you mean by that? I know battery status and XCPUScalar do the trick.

I agree. The latest v3.6a does appear a bit sluggish. I've tried Faria's Customized v1.0 and that blew me out of the water, despite all the extra bloat apps I installed on my Hermes.

It is sluggish..
I'm testing TNT v2.0, lets see how that goes.

I don't understand your problem. I tested the Schap's ROM 3.54b, it is fast and does not pose problems. It is much faster than my Qtek 9100 (I-matt K-JAM/MDA Vario/O2 XDA Mini S/SPV M3000/Cingular 8125/T-Mobile MDA/Dopod 838/compact VPA II) You must have another unknown problem…

...I ask you to excuse me for my bad English. I speak french...

Well I haven't installed anything else on my phone. It is clean. The 3 main things that bother me are the following.

1. When I type text messages it sometimes literally takes a second or two before it shows what I have typed.

2. When I wake up the screen after it has gone into standby it take about 4 or 5 seconds.

3. When someone calls it only rings once because it takes so long coming out of standby.

I've worked around the problem with the phone only ringing once - I configured my calls to not autoforward to voicemail for 25 seconds instead of the default of 15 seconds. This is done at the phone company end (via Phone.. Menu.. options... Services... Call Forwarding).

It means my callers have to wait a few extra seconds for me to answer.
