Hello!

I bring to your attention a small script to change the size of PagePool directly on the device.

The script allows to replace the size PagePool From 2.00 to 16.00th mbyte without a reflash of the device and loss of data.
After work of a script it is enough to make a soft reset to the device.

In a script is implemented the algorithm of automatic search of the address of offset and check result of search with use of check value on algorithm MD5 . In this mode every possible checks are made so much what kill the device practically not possible.

Also there is a possibility of instructions of own displacement of value of the size PagePool In a case when automatic search cannot find out it. In this mode value to the specified address is checked only. And if it not in the range of values of the size PagePool from 2 to 16, script also refuses to make changes to a device insertion.

The script is checked up with several firmwares and devices.

If program can't autodetect offset value of PagePool, generate "dev info"
and provide it to me. Im add your device in autodetection feature.

Thankful in advance for responses about work of a script and the help in perfection of this.

If I correctly have understood you, I answer :)
PagePool it is area which it is used by system for caching various information. The size of accessible RAM depends on the size of this area for. As a rule this value selects everyone under itself individually. Someone uses the big programs which is necessary a lot of memory, and someone a much small programms.
As the program allows to change this value without loss of data, it is possible to experiment.
If has worked address autodetection that all it should be good.
If has not worked, I need info about your device and firmware to try add your device to autodetection.

You can change the size of PagePool as many times as you need without any limits.

I'm using BatteryStatus with enabled CPUScaler and I noticed when I change the PagePool size to 4 Mb, TCPMP player works on higher frequency (299 MHz, Boost) instead of 247 MHz (Max) with 8 Mb PagePool size.
So if PagePool size is 4 Mb and less we have low productivity.
I found that 6 Mb is good size. The productivity is the same as with 8 Mb and free memory bigger for 2 Mb.

I tried a Prophet PagePollSizeChanger script posted in Prophet forum.

The script worked.

But it bricked my Touch!

I had to flash the device from tri-color screen and restored Touch from a backup file.

To change pool size:
1. Connect your device to PC
2. Start script
3. In the main menu choose C (Change PagePool)

Script will dump the part of rom and parse it to find the offset of PagePool size setting.
If durring this process you get error as "Dump cannot be found" or "Size of dump is mismatch" it happen because device is CID locked or ItsUtils can't work with your device (i'm think:).
If you get error "Content of dump is broken" it happen because dumped file look like not normal.
If you get errors like: "Cannot find PagePool offset", "Dump looks strange", "Size of PagePool cannot be determined" or "Script don't support your PagePool size" you can't change the PagePool size with this tool at this moment.
If compatibility warning is shown but script offer you to CONTINUE it happens because script successfully find offset of PagePool but type of your firmware not checked by my eyes. For checking used MD5 algorithm. You can build devinfo and send it to me for compatibility check or can change the size at only you own risk.
If you get any error you will be prompted to generate Development Package. It's a directory with 1 or 2 files. You can compress it and post to me. And probably i fix the script to work with your type of firmware.
If you have no errors, you must see prompt to change PagePool size.
At this prompt you can see the current size and can specify needed size. The values must looks like: 4 or 4.2 or 4.02 or 12.25 or any else in range from 2.00 to 16.00 MB.

You can see the actual size of PagePool after autodetection procedure of "Change PagePool" section.

The most efficient must be founded with your self for your needs.
I'm think for Touch value greater than 6MB and less than 4MB is not suitable.
You can test any value and select that you need without HR needed, lets try :)

Script says "might" because i think one more situation is might be happen.
In this situation the included ItsUtils can't work with your device.
But already i know that this script is work on your device if it CID Unlocked (SuperCID)

Then you get error message, in the next screen you will be prompted to Build Development Package. The screen looks like this:

You don't loose the data. After this unlock no need to hard reset. If i rightly remember. In any way you can create backup.

If ItsUtils can't read the SPL part of your rom the script say what device is CID locked.

The pool not return to the original size after hard reset because script change the firmware in the rom of device. You can change the pool to original size with this script without need to hard reset. Or you can reflash the original firmware, in this case all data will be destroyed so you must backup your data.

You are the second with that trouble.
I have only one supposition, script is plainly CMD (batch file) and it can't use the needed files in your system.
Why this happen i don't know, probably this from behind your security settings or something like this. So try other computer or windows on it if you can.

You can't use this tool until your device is locked.
To check that this script error, try read any block from SPL.
I think you can't read nothing and get error.

I'm not sure in understand that you say.
After detect this tool show you current size, and prompt you to change. you must input new size. If you don't enter the new size, script don't do anything.
So you must input the new size and after soft reset the size will be changed. After that you can check current size with "Change PagePool size" option in this script or any else.

I think you say about free memory. This may depend on installed software.
The full size of memory changed.

Whoever having problem with this tool even device is CID unlock, try to hack the following registry.
Mine works fine after this hack

HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies
valuename '00001001' was set to dword:2, change it to dword:1

dword: any thing other than 1 disallows unsigned
dword: 1 allows unsigned

That the error you get, and there devinfo or link to firmware?
Are you trying to change PagePool on CID unlocked device?
Increasing the pagepool size will increase performance and decrease power consumption. But in some cases you can get message about low memory.
Our device have small memory :(

You need CID Unlocked device to use this tool or use other file based changers. In second way you get Hard Reset. So try to unlock your device at first.

I precisely know that on WIZARD it works.
Problem with reading part of firmware.
For any reasons ItsUtils cannot make dump.
Show to me how you can make dump from the device with this firmware.

well to do that just use the very basic tools around

to extract imgfs fron .nb simply use the "prepare_imgfs.exe" with parameter "-nosplit". This will extract the "imgfs_raw_data.bin"

then to dump the files inside the imgfs just use the "viewimgfs" with parameter "viewimgfs.exe imgfs_raw_data.bin"

i hope this is the "dump" thing your looking for,, hehe

PagePool size is very strange it 2Mb.
So i add the signature of this type and you can try.

This ROM has a new ROM code, so the pagepool address is changed. Anyone cant change the pagepool size in this ROM. That value, you've find (00 00 20 00) isnt the pagepool! If you will change it to 40 (or 60), it will not work. We will upload new 2.20..ROM, with original pagepool address in a few days

If file not exist, you can't update size of PP at this moment with this tool.
I start rebuilding tool with new method accessing device, but don't have free time to complete work at this moment. So you can try to change PP with other tool or wait for new tool.

Also this test version doesn't seem to work for the xda nova (ROM version 2.21.207.1 GER). After entering "continue" the current page pool size is displayed as 2MB which is wrong... :(

Hello!

I bring to your attention a small script to change the size of PagePool directly on the device.

The script allows to replace the size PagePool From 2.00 to 16.00th mbyte without a reflash of the device and loss of data.
After work of a script it is enough to make a soft reset to the device.

In a script is implemented the algorithm of automatic search of the address of offset and check result of search with use of check value on algorithm MD5 . In this mode every possible checks are made so much what kill the device practically not possible.

Also there is a possibility of instructions of own displacement of value of the size PagePool In a case when automatic search cannot find out it. In this mode value to the specified address is checked only. And if it not in the range of values of the size PagePool from 2 to 16, script also refuses to make changes to a device insertion.

The script is checked up with several firmwares and devices.

If program can't autodetect offset value of PagePool, generate "dev info"
and provide it to me. Im add your device in autodetection feature.

Thankful in advance for responses about work of a script and the help in perfection of this.

Hi, I downloaded the newest version and tried to use it with my touch connected and it said "ERROR: probably you device is CID locked." I just used the USPL CID unlocker on it and it completed with success. I also have a custom ROM on there so I know it's CID unlocked(after getting the error the first time I CID unlocked it again with the new ROM and I still get the error.) I'm using the new Shadow ROM TE with Windows Mobile 6.1.

The message of CID locked does not mean that the device is CID locked at all:confused:. This tool sometimes work and sometimes don´t, in the same system, with the same PDA, and on the same ROM. :eek:
I've changed the pagepool (PP) to 2 megs and was testing it for a month. Yesterday I tried to revert back to 6 megs original football rom. Then I got the CID message. Well, I´ve been using this tool for a long time, maybe I flashed the PP a dozen times and it worked as a charm... but now I can´t use it anymore. It´s not a big deal, there is no real difference between 2 to 12 megs of PP for normal usage, it´s performance gain is only measurable using syntetic tests ;) But I'd like to understand why the tool will not work anymore.

Trying to help, thanks for the great script cause it solved a lot of doubts related to PP issues. If I decide to get back the original PP, I just need to flash the rom, that is already in my SD :D

I have G4 and I it can not unblock CID. Smart Changer it writes, that "cid locked". I install Certs and EnableRapi there now this nothing helps.I will alter PP to anything from CID locked ?????

Mine is Touch Enhanced v2 128/256 with Shadow 2.1 TE ROM flashed
I got the usual "Your firmware is either not supported, check your device compatibility from the list......"
Please help to see if the WM6.1 of the Shadow 2.1 TE can change hte PP size?

Can you help me to resoved it ?
When I use pagepool smart changer it says " probably your device is CID locked" .I unlocking CID use "Wizard service tool v4.2.2" , it says the "store sum and calcd sum did not match ", what should I do to resove these problem?

I ran your tool but the rom I'm using ([WM 6.1] NEW BLUE ELVES ROM V5.0 - CE OS 5.2.2021 (BUILD 19521.1.1.0)) isn't comaptible.

so far, all PP changers are only target for 64MB RAM device, for 128MB RAM device and also using WM6.1, these kind of changers never work.

The only way is to do it from the very beginning, unpack a signed NBH and to rip the XIP and repack it in with appropriate PP and then to rebuild the NBH again, the steps are way too complicated, I tried to understand but I gave up.

It's really a bother to dump our ROMs to change the PP. Tried the PPSmartChanger app but I see no change in neither the ROM & RAM total amount after changing it to from 8MB to 16MB.

Does this mean that this app's not working?
But the app could recognize afterwards, that my PP is set to 16MB!
What gives?

It doesn't work!
I think that SharkInDark should change the offset his application seeks for PPsize(or try to search in hex: 03 15 A0 03 02 15 A0 13 00 10 83 E5 DA C2 FF EB and change it accordingly).

After work of a script it is enough to make a soft reset to the device.

In a script is implemented the algorithm of automatic search of the address of offset and check result of search with use of check value on algorithm MD5 . In this mode every possible checks are made so much what kill the device practically not possible.

Also there is a possibility of instructions of own displacement of value of the size PagePool In a case when automatic search cannot find out it. In this mode value to the specified address is checked only. And if it not in the range of values of the size PagePool from 2 to 16, script also refuses to make changes to a device insertion.

The script is checked up with several firmwares and devices.

If program can't autodetect offset value of PagePool, generate "dev info"
and provide it to me. Im add your device in autodetection feature.

Believe this pagepool changer by SharkInDark is meant for WM 6.0 only and that is why this pagepool changer is not working for WM6.1.
