Hi all !
This is a poll - who is using BBConnect 4.0.0.90 ? With which version of WM6 ?
Please, put here an exact version number of your WM6 like -
Schap 3.60a CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)
This will help us all to better understand which version is compatible with BBConnect before we go for any upgrade.
Your input is highly appreciated.
Warm regards to the community !

Change your AKU version from .0.4.2 to .0.3.1 using the registry editor and do a soft reset and you should be good to go.
I'm using Schap 3.60a this way since the release of the Rom and BB connect is working smoothly.

It would be great if it could be a bit more responsive.

Got all working,, but one wierd thing,,that I don't know if anyone else is experiencing. When I suspend BBconnect, then get Wifi to surf on my IE explorer, the IEexplorer(with the BBBrowser configured in to it), will not pick up any data via Wifi.. It's like the IEexplorer refuses to use any other connection except the BB connection.. Anyone else had this experience? I use hotspots quite a bit, and find that quite inconvenient. The only repair that I could think of was to try loading Opera browser(not mini), and now I can surf after Suspending BBconnect, on Wifi.. Thks for any comments

I had a connection fine, and now all of a sudden, I get network available and then it dies.
My AKU is changed to .0.3.1 but nothing.
Any other suggestions on what could be up

Sorry, this may be an obvious and stupid question.
My company is using a bez server I have my activation code but am unable to get BBconnect to work. I have 3g network/internet going everything else works fine but does your sim card have to be BB enabled somehow? I am with Softbank in Japan and figure there is something stopping me from connecting.
Thanks,

Definitely, your SIM card has to be BB-enabled by service provider.

On the side note - did anyone look at disabling the BBC4 enforced screen lock or pocking around / hacking the \Application Data\RIM\BlackBerry\BlackBerryDB and BlackBerryDB2 files in general on 4.0.0.XX yet ?
BBC4 IE Browsing via corporate network would eliminate the need for IE to break the BBC connection and re-connect via the provider ( ATT MediaNet ). But the annoying enforced BES policy screen lock settings prevent me from moving on to BBC4.
Otherwise 2.1.2.54 ( if you care :-) works just fine on BlackSatin with HEX'ed coredll.dll for me and few other folks.

The Regular IE explorer gets re configured by BBconnect, and becomes virtually useless by itself to get any data. You end up , of course using the BBbrowser ,which is the reconfigured IE browser, which can be found in the BBfolder (when BBconnect is in the enables status). Unfortunately, the reconfiguration makes the IEbrowser a poor excuse for a browser. It can receive data, and apparently compressed,, but it seems extremely slow. The only better solution I have found, is to use Opera mini(Ilove that browser), very ingenious little inventions within the app. I also just loaded the new Opera 8.65 full browser as a trial. I will try to make the Opera full as a default for now. Not sure how many obstacles that might involve. My main problem is trying to download attachments coming from emails sent by Bbconnect. I don't seem to see any paramenters for saving files that are sent to me on my BIS email, and watching how Bbconnect says that it is retrieving the attachment is extremely painful, because you have no idea if it really is downloading, and have no idea when it is finished. If anyone out there has any browser that works well downloading files, would appreciate their ideas. Also, most of the time, I am always seeing what program will work the best with Wifi, instead of Gprs data. Obviously, the right combo to diminish data costs would be great. I seem to go to comm manager way too much with bbconnect, because I have to go to Status, disable most of the time, so as I can use my browsers and/or wifi.. One big question which would be helpful is, if I were to go in to BBsettings, I wonder what would happen if I deleted the two lines having to do with BBbrowser configuration. Maybe if I deleted them, I would only have email (which is fine by me), and I would be freed up to use my IE browser without BB connect conflict.

I'm on Orange uk (who I had to ask for blackberry services to be enabled - they're not by default, and it was a lengthy conversaition as they wanted to make sure I understood it wasn't going to work and was unsupported!)
~ The funny point of that being they rang me back a couple of days later to check I still wanted bb services enabled (still convinced it couldn't work, so I sent the "techie" haha chap I was speaking to some screen shots) and suggested he reads this website!

Hey guys,
I was hooked on Schap's 3.60 ROM but couldn't get BBConnect to work at all so I started experimenting. First I downgraded the ROM to 3.54c but kept Radio 1.50 but no dice. I can get a connection but not consistently. I downgraded the radio to 1.47 and it worked. So i've stuck to ROM 3.54 and Radio 1.47 ever since.
I don't know if this will work for everyone but it works for me even after several hard resets. Perhaps someone can try if ROM 3.54 Radio 1.47 and BBConnect 4.0.0.90 works for you too.

VERY stable, fast and lean!
BTW: you can disable the BBC Screen Lock easily if you stop its service (with MemMaid for example). But don't put it on "manual start" as your PDA will stuck to the bootscreen with the next soft reset. I.e. after each softreset, you have to stop the service. But then it won't lock till you do the next softreset.

Trying to use my IE explorer like it was intended to be used before putting on BBconnect and having it reconfigure my IEbrowser. Has anyone tried removing "Blackberry Internet Browsing SErvice-Browser configuration " and "Browser Config for 5 Click-Browser configuration" from the Service List in Blackberry settings to see whether by doing this your IEexplorer could be utilized again on a Non BBdata Plan? ie would like to get my IEexplorer working on my normal gprs data connection, and I don't want to be forced to use a reconfigured IEexplorer using BBconnect data.

I have MemMaid installed and this shows me a Startup Service called "BlackBerrySecurity". It is set on autostart by default. Everytime I SR the device, I just go there and stop this service manually. Of course, this works only in between SRs and after each SR I have to key in my BB password again. I like this way as it gives me a little bit of security w/o being annoying. Maybe somebody can create a macro or similar to automatically stop this service after the initial BB authentication proceedure. But with MemMaid it's no big deal anyway to stop a service.
Moisha: what BBC client do you have on your phone? Maybe this service exists only in the 4.0.0.90?
On the other hand, I had the 4.0.0.67 installed some months ago and was successful in removing the security service entirely. I do not remember its exact name but it was also called something with BB and security.
I can't use the xx.67 anymore as I have upgraded to WM6 and could not find a lean ROM which supports the xx.67.
But take care: if you try to remove the security service in the xx.90 version, it will lock up your device.

Even though I have restricted the size allowable on incoming emails, I still can see that there are attachments included in my email (.jpg, word docs, .vcf, etc), however, if I click on the attachment , it says that it is retrieving the attachment. For the most part, the attachment never appears (I can wait eons thinking that the attachment actually is being retrieved), even though my Data connection is active. Can anyone tell me what type of attachments can be retrieved using BBconnect? Also, the one or two times that I did manage to see an attachment,, usually a jpeg,, the menu offered me no menu to save, and offering a menu of location to save. The only option available really was only to look at the jpeg. I sent my self an attachment less than 100k, an outlook contact .vcf,, and I couldn't even save that .vcf as a contact. If anyone has a great combination whereby they are able to retrieve and save attachments without too much hassle, please would appreciate hearing from you. Right now, BBconnect is only good for me to read text . The only options that I can think of, which I don't really want to do , is to go to the browser, go to a place like gmail, and try from there. And then, I am not sure if that even would do the trick. Thx

Stoker1: I think this is a restriction on your BB server (i.e. your company?). There are several security settings and also the size of the allowed attachment to download can be limited. I think I read something like this in the BBC handbook.

Think I mentioned already,, go to your Programs, then Blackberry Folder, and hit the "internet Browser" icon that is special for BBconnect, although it looks like the regular IE explorer, however, it is a reconfigured ,and you will see a few extra links thrown in. This appears to be the ONLY application that can use the BBconnect data connection. I think this BBconnection is pretty miserable. I pretty well use my Opera browsers full and mini,, for any meaningful Internet browsing. Hope this helps out.. If you are going to use this BBbrowser, you might as well as set up a shortcut into the Start Menu, in Windows using your file explorer perhaps. I told you to setup a brand new Data connection. That way , when you suspend BBconnection, your apps will automatically go to that new data connection.. If you don't know how to set up data connection.. do some searching on Wiki.. Over and out.

Anyone run into the problem with running out of message storage? Blackberry stopped being able to receive after a while. Now, it might be that I just have to handle my inbox differently. It seems to be able to track the transfer of emails from the inbox to other folders when I am asking for it to sync only the inbox and sent items. I am currently configured to the Corporate BES.

Having the same problem with BBconnect as Tyming with 4.0.0.90 and messages. Using message envelope on Home, or soft button, the setup on BBconnect is either not producing a proper Inbox for receiving messages, sometimes produces a System inbox, or sometimes even multipile System inboxes. I do have it setup now, receiving emails, however an official, proper inbox does not appear. You have to press the Microsoft outlook inbox, to get at your email..You end up looking for System Inbox, and there you find your emails. In my particular case, there is no availability in the menu to Reply, Forward etc. You just can read.. very odd.. Haven't tried 4.0.0.91 version.. I also had to change the Version # Regedit,, suggested early in the post, to get this far..Let's see whether we can get a flaw free approach to getting BBconnect to work with Schaps great new 4.0 ROM,,By the way that is what I am now using.. better change my Signature..might do tht now

I suppose you can change back to Schaps 3.54 C,,where I had it working perfectly..or try with any official Rom put out back in August or any Rom where you see enough positive feedback on BBconnect working ..You should have enough posts on it to make you comfortable...then use that Rom..I personally am always trying to upgrade my Rom to a higher level..unfortunately most Roms are not built with BBconnect in mind. I get very tired of unistalling/re-installing BBconnect trying to get it to work..When it does work..it's not too bad (except for Browsing)..Either that , or switch to Emoze or something similar.. I hope I can find someone who is using the Schaps 4.0 that has theirs working on BBconnect (whatever version), so that is my goal..I tried the BBconnect version 2.1.154 also,,(thinking that a lighter version might work), but to no avail.

Two ways to fix this issue.
1) In the blackberry web config page. Delete and recreate you email accounts
2) In the Web config page under options click on send service books. This will send a command to your Tytn and recreate all your folders.
This is only an issue for Tytn BBC users who upgrade there roms with preforming 1 of two steps listed above.

I think I figured out part of it. Theres a registry tweak to get IE working again, the problem is that it creates a new connection instead of using the BBC connection. Change your AKU version from whatever you have to .0.3.1 using the registry editor and do a soft reset and you should be good to go. I got this in the first page of this thread. It helped me get a connection. So try doing this and see if it solves any problems that one might already have.
I will try MrCeddy recommendations later and report back.. I think I managed to get half way there today in regards to my email folder/messaging folder not showing up.
You can really only get BBconnect email and IE Reconfigured by BBconnect browser working on the Blackberry connection.. Opera Mini, Opera full, can only work on Wifi,,or Gprs connection.
By the way,, I deleted, in the services (experiment because I hated the reconfigured IEbrowser),, area ,in the BBsettings, two references to Browser,, and found out that my email still works, and my IE browser is free to work without BBconnect interference. I can now use my IE explorer,Opera MIni, Opera full, on wifi or normal Gprs. You might want to try it if you hate the BBconnect tie-in to the Ie browser as much as I did.

I finally got BBC BIS working on my ATT 8525.
I'm using Schap's WM6 Pro 4.00 RC ROM and WM6 BBC 4.0.0.91 :)
4.0.0.84 didn't work for me.

Has anyone had the problem of losing the network connection? I seem to loose mine frequently. I just click resume and it reconnects. Using vp3g 3.63

It was hard enough getting BBConnect 4.0 working, and information on this topic is especially spread out in the forums, but it is now working after following the directions that have been supplied. I'm using the Schap's 4.00 ROM, BBConnect 4.0.0.18 with AT&T and a BES server.
However, now I can't use any other data connection. IE doesn't work, my Slingbox client doesn't work, etc.
I've tried searching around on this topic and have come across some ideas of creating a new data connection in the settings, but my one attempt to do this (with some limited information) resulted in still no working internet connection and also no BBConnect working, so I removed the new data connection and reset. BBConnect is back to normal, but no other data connection seems to work.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'm using an Orange connection in France with a BB Enterprise server 4.0.2.4.
I have successfully installed and configured BBConnect 4.0.0.90.
I would like to know what's the difference with v4.0.0.91 ?
I'm having a problem : many attachments cannot be downloaded. I can see the content but not download them. I have a green one-way panel next to the attachment which, according to the manual, indicates that the attachment is too large to be downloaded... An attachment of 80 kb is getting this sign.
I still have like 4 Gb available on my Storage Card so I really don't know what is going wrong.
My BES server doesn't indicate any error. I really need your help.
Thanks

I have the same problem. No other data connection works:
Internet via USB [GONE]
Internet via WiFI [GONE]
I am able to browse with the BBerry Internet Browser with the BBConnect active. When I suspend and enable Wifi and try to load up skype I get no connection. The same happens for all other programs:
Yahoo 2 Go!
Mobile MSN
Mobile Messenger
IM+
Skype
