Hi friends.. I downloaded the Tom Commmanger8 from the forums but have problems installing the cab file. When I install the cab file, it fails saying -
"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions. "
I am running the installation in normal working mode.. when the phone is started up.
Is there a separate admin mode in which I can install the cab file ??
Please help. My comm manager right now shows just one button.
Thanks.

maybe your existing comm manager is running when you try to install the new one? you can see running programs in settings/system/memory/running programs.
or you can soft reset your device and then try to install before you do anything else.

Killing Comm manager worked. It installed fine without any problems or complaints.. I now have the comm manager working fine. :)
But I wonder how the error it showed me and the actual problem are related..

when a program is running it "locks" some files. when you try to install a new version you try to overwrite those locked files. and you dont have the permission for this (that's why they are locked). you end the running program, and the lock is gone and you can delete/overwrite/change those files.
of course it would be possible to make a better error message like "this file is used by a running process (process_name). please end this process before trying again". but well, it's never done.
the message you got was actually very true and it allowed me to find the reason with my first guess :D

The important point is here to install "8 Comm man" directly after sw-reset!!!
Then the installation works!! I tested it several times.
