The Storage Card problem in B&B4.1

I know i have to read the whole thread and i did, only this problem with the Sd card and the SD card 2 thing isn't resolved in the tread, there are some people asking for a solution, but there is no-one with the actual solution.

So my question is, Who does have the solution?? Please post it, cuz if this problem is solved, the B&B 4.1 is the illest ROM ever :)

i'm not a wizzkid and the solution mentioned about renaming the folder isn't working..

Please help the ones like me and solve this (big) problem :)

Thank you very much to open an exclusively dedicated thread to the problem, I believe that we are many those that we are suffering it, I not consider a novice in these subjects, I believe that it is a great problem that ruins the made work for Tom in BB 4.1 rom.

There are many of us who are suffering from this problem which is not evident in version 4. It seem to only affect those who use Windows live. When Windows live is used on the next soft reset you will lose access to your programs installed on the SD card as it is renamed to SD2. This is an excellent ROM. I have had to do a hard reset and refrain from using Windows live.
I am glad that a new thread is now dedicated to solving this problem as I really do need to use Windows live.

i did have this problem and i have solved the error, i hope the guide i says really helps you.

You have to Hard reset your device "LEAVE THE STORAGE CARD IN"
once you have done this connect the phone to the pc.
once you have sync browse to Windows on your device, locate MSN messenger and MSN live and delete them ( this and the messenger tab on the today screen cause the storage bug)
so to recap, we have done a hard reset, deleted MSN and windows live, make sure you do not use the messenger tab.
next step install pocket MSN "reboot"
this will clear the problem with your storage device.

other help i can give you, battery drain, with thanks to "Icefeldt" he gave me this info

In the HTC Home weather Section, disbale "automatically download Weather Data".

That has helped to stop the battery drain in BB4.0.

I cannot delete WLM*files on /windows, system protect this files y try in file explorer and same issue.

I've read that it is normal that your battery drains faster after a ROM upgrade. Of course does the automatic weather update consume extra power. I've heard that your battery needs to get "trained" after a ROM upgrade, that battery status and charging parameters or whatever it is does get erased when upgrading. Usually charging your battery a few times fixes this bug, same for GPS - the first GPS fix after an upgrade can take several minutes.

Since those problems can be solved easily with all you forum members I have to say: Good job Tom, I love this ROM even though it's not my native language!

This reg edit will make all my inbox and attachments be stored on main memory, well not exactly what I want

Well i'm a n00b, but i think i figured it out.

Do the changes in reg edit, so search for the strings, put in for example "Program Files" instead of "Storage Card".

Then u change Storage Card in Storage Card3 with file explorer.

Then reboot

Then u Delete Storage Card3, then it's fixed.

And i think if u changed that u can re edit the strings to put mail cookies and other things onto the Storage Card itself, maybe it will work if u use another subfolder??

the first line was about the storage card but, the other stuff I wrote was just additional and non topic, thought someone would be interested to know.

Deactivating the Message Tab from WM6 on the today screen fixes the storage card bug, that's what I said and it works 100% on my device. If I activate it and reset then I have two storage cards again.

Hey folks, my first post here, but i found some solutions too.

Working with Toms post, and the reg values he provided, i too had the problem with the buttons not working anymore, but also i could not enter messaging anymore.. so i went on searching the regs. (as i do have a lot of registry tweaking xp)

I like using Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm) for editing the registry, so if you guys would like to try it, it's freely available at http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm. However in Total Commander the registry is located by selecting "\\" and then (quite obviously) "registry".

First of all, using wm5torage, i was able to restore the card during one session, Activating it, deleting all Storage Cards, and Deactivating did the trick, but after a soft reset everything was screwed up again.

Looking at Toms tricks and what he did there was really good, so i knew which folders to use, and what sub keys where responsible for file locations. I went on to messaging and thought about centralizing everything. On my device root i use folder Temp. In it i created all necessary folders:

cacheie *all small letters*
Cookies
History
Mail

After that i created folder Attachments inside the folder Mail.

now for the reg tweaks: (in Total Commander there are shorter names like HKLM)

What is the difference?
I still don't know the difference, for in win32 the double slashes are obligatory, but i noticed both work here. Perhaps that is because I use Total Commander, I have not tested the other program yes, as I must admit...

I hope you guys can do something with this, for me my phone works like a charm now, no more cardprobs, even with Windows Live, as i did not delete it from my phone, just the regular naming_the_card and using wm5torage fix (earlier in my post).

One thing i would like to challenge the other reg-tweakers here is to find the option to re-enable the menu clicks with the new wm6 sounds ;) but otherwise i am completely happy about B&B4.1 now. Great work TOM, hope you can use my tips in 4.2!

oke..sofar there is not a real good solution..so i installed bb4.1 again to get rid of the problem.
now i see that tom has included a messenger in his rom..but is it the good one.

i'm having difficulties to know the differend between pocket messenger en live messenger.

The messenger in tom bb, is it pocket messenger or live messenger???
what messenger is save to install and doens't mess up my storage card or my contacts.

Someone has a cab file?

Some users were saying it might be Windows Live creating the problem. I did have two the Storage Card problem after running Windows Live, after a reset. i did a hard reset and updated Windows live to this version:

This might help or not, if it does it simple fix and reply back to say if it works or not?

Hi guys! if u are still having problem, (In case u have used the Outlook to download ur hotmail or popmails) remove these hotmail/pop accounts from outlook, and then rename the storagecard(the new dummy created) to storagecard3 and reset. all is fine again!

now i have not tried to redowloand hotmail, else it gives me the errors again! :)
