jBlend VM with 3D support (JSR 184)

Hi guys,
I have been playing with Samsung Blackjack (i607) and some beta WM6 ROM. I have been pleased that the jBlend VM (Java midlet manager) supports JSR 139, JSR 118, JSR 185, JSR 184, and JSR 75 (it's on the About screen).

It sounds nice and the 3D really works (at least on JBenchmark 3D). So Im looking for some way to enable this on my WM5. I have extracted all the needed files (I hope) and rewrite the registry values... But nothing worked, not on my phone, neither on Dash.

Is it because it is designed for WM6 and uses the special WM6 API? Is there a way I can find this? I will test it tommorrow on Vox, so I hope I will finally get to know...

BTW: The jBlend version is 20070413. Doesnt already someone smarter released this one?

I've tried to overwrite the original files of the slightly older, working (but non-3D-compliant) version available at http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/JBlendFullScreen.cab with the files. No success - after this, the midlet manager refused to start.

Will try to go on with hacking.

As can be seen, current JVM's only offer about 10% frame rate (because of the software rendering) compared to 3D-enabled devices like the Nokia N93/N95 equipped with a hardware 3D accelerator.

All in all, you won't rellly enjoy 3D games on any PPC / Smartphone.

The reason Jblend_AMS.exe Wount Work Is Not Because OF WM6 Itz Beacause when You Copied Jblend_AMS.exe n Jblend_VM.exe n the Dll You Left Out A dll Which is the Componet That Jblend_AMS.exe Needs Please Check Again And Copy Them Again Propery N Check Da Registry Coz I Tried On Wm6 n Wm5 It Dont Work It Says JBlendAMS.exe Alert Cant`t find '(or one of its components). I've ripped last exe-rom-update for Samsung i607. Make imgfs and dumped it. All files are avalible for me. I've copied Jblend and almost all dlls to SD card of my Tornado and make required registry entries. And ... it wont run. VM runs but AMS don't.

I've checked in LordPE (exe/dll viewer) what files AMS use, all have been copied into it's directory - still nothing.

I've looked depper into AMS in HEX/String mode and there is something about "Samsung Privileged Signing Certificate" there. And I think that this is what blocking AMS.

So this is my idea. Anyone know where are certificates in rom, is there a chance to rip them and install to any other machine?
I know that certificates can be added - for example RegeditSTG have one (without this cert it can't save registry changes).

Anyone knows something about certificates?

What does AMS say when you run it? "AMS cant run because it'sn got a signed certificate blahblah" ??? I've noticed that also VM has got that certificate.
Maybe we can strip the certificate out?

Also make sure you inlcuded all the DLLs using Dependency Viewer (free somewhere on the internet).

Also, do you mind uploading all the files somewhere?

Ok i've managed to extract the files from the samsung rom.... using depends.exe i've found that Jblend_AMS needs a file called LsOmaClient.dll .... i can't find it in the rom dump, does anyone have it?

at this point JBlend_VM does nothing, but i suppose it needs the jar file passed by parameter....

But i've managed to find all the needed DLL files... but again, AMS does nothing. It starts up and exits.

In contrast, VM starts up and stays resident in memory (seen with celetask)

May be other files are missing? :(

I made it ... AMS is running and displays the window... the missing file was AJFS2_Rom.bin ... but i threw in also Micro3d_v3.dll coz i think it has to do with java3d.

The missing files are:
-mobileBAE.dll
-AJFS2_Rom.bin
-LsOmaClient.dll

I've decerted all of the files, so they don't show that Samsung certificate.
I've upx'ed them too, so they're smaller.

I still don't know if there's the need of that "java" subfolder with a copy of the main executables...

Menneisyys please give thank's where it's also due :D (its also me that fidded with jblend yesterday and discovered these missing files!)

I've added the registry values you mentioned.. tried a couple games that ran without problem in the old Esmertec vm.... here they install fine, but NONE of them do run... the games close automatically whenever started...

the problem was that jblend doesn't like it's files to be UPX'ed.
anyway, some games still don't run, which run fullscreen in the old esmertec.
do you know about WinCE api? i do, i could make the window go fullscreen, but i don't know ARM assembler :D

to decert files, install PE Explorer (free 30-day trial), open each DLL and EXE file, then:
- display data directories (ctrl-d)
- click on "Certificate table" then "Set to Zero"
- display section headers (ctrl-t)
- uncheck "EOF extra data" in the lower field
- save the file

The only 3d games i've got it to run are some old games designed for 176x220 screens (i.e. NFS).
Most new games don't run, either failing installation (authorization error) or when running.
The majority of 3d games don't run.
New 2D games look and run better in Esmertec jvm.

Looks like we'll have to wait for esmertec guys to come in...

i tried all the jblend around and this one is the only one that starts up and it install any jar file.
BUT after installing i click on the installed game or app ,the jblend exit insted or run the game (tried over 20 games 3D and 2D).

any other versions or hacks.

p.s(i tried the jblend.cab from melgurth webpage ,but it doesnt start at all ,it creates a folder under my device called storage card(my storage card called mini sd karte.)

i am searching the forum and the net since 2 days for 3d java for ppc, but nuthing till now.

i've tested it with some games on an spv c500.

it works fine but some games cannot start. i guess because the spv don't have enough memory ie i must free about 9 mb to launch the games.

however it works fine.

The ASUS J502 Has A Java Emulator With Java 3D Mascot Capsule So In Theory it Can Run Any Java Game With 3D Mascot Capusule is what sonyericsson use to play jsr184 and they are able to run every midlet flawlessly If any one can Find The rom maybe it would help for some reason Jblend 3D doesnt to launch on windows mobile 5 or its just the htc s310 it runs on hp ipaq 514 but not properly i can only install jad but not jar it keeps saying Warning! Now This Application does not run in privilage mode. maybe its because io replaced the uncerted exe with the certed exe coz the unsigned would not launch but any way i accidently deleted all my certificates on my device but i have the samsung privilaged root.cer i Got it by Right Clicking on the app and then Digital signatures view then install then i open internet explorer then internet options then content then certificate open then go to trusted root authorised then scroll down to samsung blah blah then export it into the .cer and wola u get the samsung trusted root cert :) http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-ushttp://za.asus.com/news_show.aspx?id=7212

so let me tell you my experience with jblend:
i installed jblend on main memory = program doesnt start at all.
the i installed the jblend on storage card and what happened is that everything work perfectly but i notice that it created and installed a folder called storage card on my device,(my memory card called mini-sd-karte).
so it took me while to change all registry keys from storage card/program file/jblend to Mini-SD-Karte/programme/jblend (since my device is german).

and now it work good but i cant upload results to jbenchmark.

when i install a jar from my Storage card, when the install is finished my original file in the card is deleted !

Yes I have that same issue. But I think that this is not issue at all.
Maybe developers make such option because every "normal" midlet should be downloaded from web and installed at once, so it may be free space thing. Orginal Jblend uses only Device space so if You download jar (and it will rest in IE temp) and install it with Jblend it will duble space on device.

Jbed will work after installing Jblend. Only difference is that when You execute jar or jad it will run Jblend. Jbed have super-hiper-busting option, local file instalator so You don't need any association to install midlets.

So - in my opinion - You can install Jblend when You have Jeodek or Jbed

hello, it's possible to change the java heap size by modifying this registry value:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\JBLEND\JavaHeapSize

you just have to set a lower one (for instance 1572864)

This value is in bytes.


also, jblend doesn't run in full screen. is there a way to allow full screen on spv c500?

This app installs all my midlets and games, but hen I try to run one of them it says "Load VM Failed". So Jblend_VM.exe doesn't run on my iPAQ 2490b with WM6...

I've made some VERY thorough tests with several 3D games available at http://tegos.ru/java/3D/ ; you can find the preview of the compatibility results at http://www.winmobiletech.com/092007MidletBible/Jblend.htm

I tested Jblend (ripped from Samsung, where it already supports 3D and available at http://melgurth.ovh.org/ - direct download http://melgurth.ovh.org/files/java/Jblend.cab ) and the also 3D-capable 11-series (of which, I've used the last version available, 1036) of TAO Intent (download at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327456 ).

As can clearly be seen, TAO Intent 1036 only has the advantage of better sound (and music, which is completely missing from Jblend) emulation and, sometimes (but not always!), better error messages; in every other respect, it is clearly worse; most importantly because of the lack of softkey support, which is a real showstopper in many games.

BTW, does anyone have the time to test more titles and fill in the missing info in the chart?

i've installed and it does run. but after installing java midlets they run only with start screen or 2d menus, but everything concerning 3d doesn't work at all. programms just hang.I have "3d need for drift" it run to menu then i can enter sub menu choose car but car apper and not moving when i start race it just show me first screen of race and hangs

Yup, the same here under Jblend - see my compatibility chart. Under Esmertec jeodek, however, it's (the game too!) working OK - just make sure you answer "No" when it prompts you about an uncaught exception.

m8 this file is intallation file for sharp p-zero ,(its in chinise or japanese lang.)

normaly to update your sharp p-zero you have to put this file in ppc and lunch it from there and it will extract inside the system updating the file that need to be update it.

if you can extract it on pc( i dont know how to do that ) and take out the jblend_VM.exe and the othere updated files for jblend.

is it possible to inject c# .net code into the applicatim because therez .net code to force form application to be over the taskbar sphelper iz able to put jeodek 3d over the taskbar however it does not strech it and u need bobsoft sphelper and enative smartoolkit. open sp helper minimize it then open jeodek then long press "0" then go menu then current window then move&zoom then hold action key to bring smartoolkit then minimize it n move it up

Using (the latest) version 1.1 of SPHelper ( http://www.bobsoft.com/sphelper/ ) and 1.0.0-RC05 of SmartToolkit ( http://www.smarttoolkit.mobi/download/id/12/SmartToolkit_1_0_0_RC05_4th_exe_only.html ). Are you sure this version of SmartToolkit can be minimized? Which version are you using? Or, what exactly did you mean? Could you please post a more elaborate tutorial on this part?

1st.Run sphelper minimize it with the back arrow key. 2nd open jeodek the 3d non fullscreen then long press "0" then the mouse thingy will come up u should see menu on right soft key press that then go to option numa 6 current window then press move and zoom then press the joystick down till the top part kinda dissappearz thatz gud now if u have smartoolkit press the action key or watever the taskbar is assigned to now look at da top part...

While moving up the upper bondary of the active area (and hiding the upper taskbar) did work on both my s310 and s710, the bottom of the screen remained unused and, what's worse, I didn't gain any new screen estate. That is, of the 320, only some vertical 280 pixels are available for the MIDlets to run - just like with the original case.

Are you sure you are able to use the full screen estate (or, at least, some 300 vertical pixels)?
