This is very cool stuff ... at all ... allows me to test software (hate to hard reset)

There is one little detail that is a mistery to me: how the f*** am I supposed to install application which is distributed as win32 "exe" or "msi" file to the Emulated WM Device? Maybe ActiveSync ? Dunno.

Please advice.

I believe there's someway to create a fake ActiveSync connection between the device emulator and the copy of ActiveSync on your computer. However, I can't test it because it doesn't seem to want to work with my copy of Vista, so you'll have to wait for someone who knows more of it than I do to come along and tell you how to do it.

Right click on ActiveSync icon and select 'settings'.
Then select 'Allow connection on one of the following' and select 'DMA' from the list.
Start device emulator manager, select your emulator, turn it on then in 'action' menu select 'cradle'.
Now the emulator should sync just like a real device.

several quick questions:

is it possible to change the emulator ROM ?

is it possible to dump it and reuse it on real device?

"is it possible to dump it and reuse it on real device?"

sure it is any real device which use the same hardcoded drivers
as the emulator == non == no fysical device

Change the ROM - The ROM for the new "stand alone" emulator is stored in a BIN file. So theoretically it is possible to replace it, the question is with what?
The platform builder comes with a sample emulator SDK but I have no idea if that would work.
The ROM you can find for real devices will not work with the emulator.

Thanks ... what i really want to do was to test whether i will be pleased with the different cooked ROMs for WM6.
i hate making experiments.
I read some "know-how"s how to backup the existing device ROM - unforunately ... no success.

whatever ... thanks alot again ... i'll wait for official WM6 ROM
