What does the option 'beam' do in commanger?

At the risk of stating the obvious, it toggles the devices' Infra-red capabilities on or off.....

(Same thing as going via Start | Settings | Connections tab | Beam | check / un-check the "Receive all incoming beams" option).

To beam a file is to send wirelessly.

Once you choose to beam a file IRDA devices will show at the top of the list, bluetooth devices at the bottom.
