I am unable to understand how to use smiley in Windows mobile 6. :(

Install this in your phone. Basically it's a program that will read the symbol (which you can define in smileydata.txt) in the sms and display the jpg file (store in smiley folder) instead.

Okay, I installed v1.68. It is truly an amazing app. SMS look amazing. I do have 2 problems though. One major one, and one not so big one.
1. I am not receiving any notification of SMS arrival. I did go into sounds and set sound as well as vibrate for Smiley SMS, but it seems to uncheck itself, and no notifications work. I have tried setting the option several times, soft resetting etc...
2. For some odd reason it shows the time of last sent message as several hours off from the actual time. Once a text is received in the same conversation, it seems to correct the time that was incorrect on the sent message. Very odd. Not a big problem, but could cause confusion if I ever need to reference what time I sent someone a message.

Also, Enable Sound option and Zoom level do not seem to do anything. I am not sure if that is a bug, or my own user error. Also, there is no option to enter smilies in threaded view, but it does show up in non threaded sms style, as a tiny smiley in the lower right corner, that when clicked displays several smilies.

Can not reply in with threaded enabled(reply just shows up, after that send does not show up). Is there something else I am supposed to do now? I have to go to menu, reply for a message to be sent. 700wx WM5.

I like your programme a lot. I'm using the 1.68. It's installed on the device itself.
But unfortunately I don't get all the smilies running on my i900 Omnia :( e.g. the :-* kissing smiley.
Some smilies just occur as the red crossed box...
Could someone upload his well running smilies as well as the Smileydata.txt???

Yeah, I know. I unchecked box, replaced smiles, edited sms template. But still, textarea thing left. And my device are a bit slower in sms chat with SmileySMS. I think it would be much faster if there will be only smiles. I think this is very useful suggestion for developers, isn't it? ;)

Error on VGA! (HTC XDA EXEC)

- Not have SKIN on VGA
- Slowly and ONE LINE INPUT TEXT ( not multi line to input text ), not show number character per SMS on Titlebar.
- The FONT of Notification SMS Preview of Windows is LARGER ... lost TIME information on preview
- It have one FRAME ugly bound of Message Inbox

But ... The ICON SMS NOTIFICATION ... beautyful !

I've remove it, hope that NEWER VERSION better !

yeah I too am interested if there is a way to open up the message box faster..when I tried to open the message box, it would take like about 1 min to open..alsoi used it on my mogul and whenever I tried to open a message it would take long to load the previous messages. i have searched and searched but found nothing..any help would be appriciated..

I know that Vito Fun Chat and FingerKeyboard are compatible. Will SmileySMS work with these programs? If so, what steps should I follow to integrate them all? So far, I'm able to use SmileySMS with the standard WinMo text application but I haven't been able to make SmileySMS work with Vito Chat and FingerKeyboard. Please help.

You need to edit the SmileySMS.txt file as well to associate the symbol (in text message) with the specific jpg/png.

I also vaguely remember that you may have to remove any spacing in the name of the jpg/png. Not sure .. but worth a try. :)

Think this is one of its kind. Not sure any similar program. Sadly, think very likely the programmer may be working on some other projects, tho' he dropped by months ago saying he will be looking into this.. But no news so far..

This program would be perfect except for one bug! Words that are too large to fit on the screen cause a horizontal scroll bar to appear and the rest of the word appears off screen. Any web address or code wider than my screen does not wrap down to the next line as my phone did before. How can i stop this from happening?

Hi may I ask if there is a version here that I can install without the new features? My phone is X1 xperia, and I didn't like the way the program altered my vibrate settings (pulse vibrate instead of continuous vibrate). Plus the other features are useless to me since I am already using Xperia Tweak for it. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

im also running MMS composer 5.2.2.22
the only issues im having is no option to add smilies during threaded reply, and once i load the config program i cant save or exit it. I have to reset to get it off my screen.
PS threaded sms still locks up most of the time, when receiving new txt

oddly enough im getting all smilies working with this setting, its just not locking up any more.

For some people HTC messaging on the HD2 has a bug where the messages aren't sent and sit in the outbox. This means they have to disable HTC messaging and use the default WM messenger. Which this is for.

Also, I like the pop up when sms arrived, as well as the left and right softkey menu options for me to choose, whether to mark it as read or reply. Now, I need to go into HTC messaging in order to do that! :(

next version will fix this!
also installation on smartphones only work if phone is unlocked.

I don't know why, but with my win mobile 6.5, smiley sms crashes everytime. Also when I go in settings, change something and want to close smiley sms settings, it crashes and I need a soft-reset to make it working again. The last probelm I had: Smiley SMS does not show new incoming messages. Of course you get a signal, but the incoming sms are lost.:eek:

I tried version 1.6 normal and without xml, but both did not work. Maybe there should be an update for WM 6.5.

problem that I got, is when I open a thread. when I click on the older button there is no more msg displayed. and when then click on the newer button the history is also blank. the curios on that is, this just happens on my main contact, which person I send the most sms.

but other person in contact have no this problem,is it a bug,can someone help me pls?

This is a great app, but I really don't need the extras (threaded sms, pic in notification, ring, vibra, etc), all I need is the animated smileys. I hope that someone make/post a version of this app/ or another app that just allow us to insert animated smileys. :) Thanks!

Excellent job friend. Have a couple of humble suggestions.....
Over past three years this super thread has expanded to 100+ pages for new comers it's almost impossible to go through all of them, what I suggest is to have a new readme type guide added to the first post also all attachments added in this thread if linked to the first post would be very desirable. Secondly skin is not compatible with VGA devices, alignment is going out of visible area on my Universal, would be great if fixed in next update. Thanks for your fantastic work.

Well, on HD2 this great app doesn't work 'cause HTC MESSAGES app of the Manila-HTC SENSE is not reffered to windows mobile program tmail.exe (and smileysms has its effects only on the windows mobile sms application)

So, the problem is to modify smileysms in a way it can work in manila-sense, and it's not so simple.

The easier way to get smileysms working on HD2, untill now, is to disable HTC MESSAGES (there's a cab to do this), or to disable all manila-sense interface, and use tmail application (the wm default one for sms)

I hope someone will develop a new smileysms app that can work with htc sense

I have another problem related to the messaging on the hd2, what happens is that the threaded messaging is pretty screwed in a way such that all the messages sent by me are listed at the top while the receipient is all at the bottom although messages i sent is in reply. Have any of you encounter this, i know it is a small problem but it's irritating as hell, any ways to go about solving this?

I installed it, went to settings, exited settings and my phone crashed! I can't get it work. It's installed on my HD2 (not on the SD card). I can't see how to get it to do anything. Every time I exit the settings my phone crashes. I'm not running a custom ROM (stock standard. Only had the phone a couple days)
Can someone help me out?

I really like this app and want to use but it is just not working all the way. I get everything but the option to actually text.

I have the HTC Excalibur, unlocked, with 6.5 rom. It looks great but I cant write anything in the message box so I just end up sending a blank message. Also the d-pad doesnt work so I cant scroll.

I have tried reinstalling, rebooting, erasing all messaging and redoing all over again. I am at a loss. Any ideas?:confused:

on thread messaging, i open an sms it is gathering all the sms n takes lots of time, everytime i open it does same again. :s time burning.....

These are the bugs i had to face in this application. i am using wm5 i-mate jamin.

1. Settings are saved but anytime they are found unsaved and after doing configurations again, there is no effect and settings remain unsaved untill soft reset your ppc. but this can happen anytime again.
2. On Thread messaging if you open an sms of a contact, All sms are compiled of same contact to be displayed in a single window as a chat environment and this process takes lots of time. This should be done once but it does everytime you open the sms.
And sometimes thread messaging is enabled itself even it was not set to be enabled.
3. When you are typing an sms and you are on line just above the keyboard and you enter on the next line it is beyond the keyboard you can't see your typing, you have to adjust always yourself by using scroll bar, but in default sms typing you press enters your display will follow the cursor automatically.

For the most part, this little bit of program does what it says it will do... BUT.... and in my mind, it's a BIG but... if you have a phone like mine (Samsung Omnia 2 i920) where the SMS and MMS are not entirely connected, then you will not recieve or see any MMS that come in. In other words, if someone sent me a video or photo, I would not see the little MMS icon or be able to access it. That applies to all these types of SMS addon programs. Unfortunately, I have yet to find one that not only allows for visual Smilies but also allows for MMS to come through as well. With programs like SMS-Chat, SMS At Hand, etc, will still notify you if you got MMS but to access it you have to open the default messaging program. A pain in the ass afaic.
