It is highly recommended that you install this program on your device(it means not on storage card)
Although if installed on storage card,program will work,but it is not recommended.




Program Features :

If you want to install this program on your smartphone make sure it is unlocked.And you can install and run priviligaed programs.To know it the best way is to install program and see if it works(after soft reset)

To change program settings you have to go to "Settings" or "Control Panel"of your device and in"System" section of it,you'll find SmileySMS settings.
If before installing the program you opened the settings,you have to reset the device for settings to show up.
Also if you have sent/received SMSs before installing program,you have to do reset too!

This program is a plug-in for default Mailbox program(Messaging),and whenever you receive an sms this program shows special notification message.
This program does not change your SMSes.So you can easily disable or uninstall it.




---------------------WM5/WM6 users ----------------------------
By default(if you install on storage card) program only shows those sms' in inbox with smiley after you have installed the program.
But to make it show all you previous SMSs too,just uncheck and check again "Inbox Smiley Forms" from program settings.
You will then be able to see all SMSs with smilies in your inbox.(if you install program on your device instead of storage card,hopefully program will work on installation and there is no need for this)

---------------------Smartphone users ----------------------------
Just make sure your device is unlocked to run this program.
Also for now program does not show a bubble.Next versions will.

----------------------WM2003 users--------------------------------
There are known problems when you forward a message using this program,especially if your message has " or ' in it,the forwarded message then it will not contain all the text you want to forward.
So it is better to use copy and paste and using reply command.
WM2003 is no more supported.


---------------------- FAQ --------------------------------

Q: Should i download from links or attachments?
A: No difference.Both will work.

Q: How should i install this .cab file?When i click on it on my PC nothing happens?
A: This file is intended for running INSIDE your Pocket-PC.Copy it(via active sync or any other methods)into your device and run it there using file explorer or any other method.

Q: I get an error while installing this program.
A: Make sure inbox program is closed and you have more than 4-5mg of free memory.
If these were not your issues,try using "_noxml" version of program.Maybe it'll work.

Q :Where is this program's shortcut or settings?
A: It must be shown in your settings.But if you have previously ran Settings,it wont show up,and you are required to restart your device.(Do a soft-reset).
Also there is no settings available.you have to change it manually by use of registery editor.

Q: How can i use smileys in compose forms?
A: By default this settings is not enabled.(because it is in beta).Go to settings and enable "Compose Form enhancements".

Q: Does this program modify my Text messages in inbox?
A: No it doesn't.You shouldn't have any problems with syncing or anything else.

Q: How can i disable text messages bubbles from showing?
A: Go to settings and disable "Show SMS Smiley Bubble notification" and "Show original SMS notification"

Q: Is this program compatible with phonealarm?
A: Yes.just enable compatibility option in settings.But sometimes when you receive 2-3 sms message just at once and you keep them,you wont be hearing future sms tones,so please make sure you you let notifications go after you've done with them.

Q: Does threaded messaging work on wm5 or wm6?
A: If your system is wm6.1 or higher it will be enabled by default.
But if you are using wm5 or wm6 you should enabled it in "advanced" section of program's settings.(Accessible via windows settings)
Clicking on any message will bring the latest SMS chats you had with that person.

Q: Why should i prefer installing this application on my device and not storage card?
A: because if you remove your storage card and you receive a message,i really don't know what happens!!So it is best not to try.

So overall this program is a plugin for default MailBox program,and whenever you receive an sms this program shows special notification message.
This program does not change your SMSes.

This program was mainly derived from my other project En2FaMail,which was intended to translate SMSs you receive into Persian(so if little features are implementated,thats the reason :) ),i just felt i can share parts that might be of interest to other people.So here it is.

Current engine uses an internal skin for notification.If i saw an interest in making other skins I'll add ways to implement your own skins.
Also animated icons and Picture Messages(EMS messages) will hopefully be added in next versions.

Program auto activates,but maybe if inbox is already running you have to completely close it and then try again.

Installed it to my old magician (to device) & it is not working. Sent test sms to the device & it freezed up without giving any LED or Taskbar notification & no new sms was shown in the inbox, had to soft reset after every new sms.
Tried changing some of the options but no improvement.
Any bug fixes planned ?
Hows it working on WM5/6, don't want to try it on my other PDA unless its proven to work well.

I tried "original notifications", the sms sound would play but no led or notification icon would display & then when opening messaging it would freeze & require soft reseting.
I do have "HTTPMail Provider" plugin installed & wondered if this could be causing a conflict !
Looks like a well thought out app with a good GUI.

Hi, this update seems to of fixed my problems with WM2003SE, I will try the WM5 version on my oher PDA later.
I think you could add some more smiley codes as others have suggested.

Tried the new version.

Can see the smileys and the contact picture. The name instead of the phone number is displayed.

However, I'm using PhoneAlarm which allows me to specify sms alert tone according to sender/message/phone number/etc. Can you enable the feature to allow SmileySMS to follow such external application that assigns sms alert tone?

Very neat software! I've always hoped someone would do this...

Couple of things re: the latest version:

(1) Sounds/vibrate/PhoneAlarm counters do not work
(2) If a long message comes through, you have to scroll...anyway to auto resize? Otherwise using a stylus seems a little tedious
(3) Smilely's work (or at least that one)
(4) Menu options (dismiss, mark as read, etc seem to work)

Exactly the same problems as Krishan, using WM6 on a Tytn. And yes, installed it to the device, etc etc. Have deinstalled it until a fix is sorted.

Roozbeh,

Just set this new version up. When a text message comes in you can see the smiley in the notification window on the Tytn but NOT when you go to open the message itself. I was expecting to be able to see the smiley at all times, even after opening up the message. Are you able to do this?

As I was using test messages to test the functionality of the tool, I deleted them all first without reading them and before using the "Mark read" option in the notification queue to clear out the notification. If you do this then you cannot clear out the notification queue without rebooting the device. Apart from this the notification queue will clear okay using the "Mark read" submenu option.

If you read the message directly from the Inbox before using the "mark read" option to clear out the notification, you get the same problem occurring.

Are you able to sort this out please? Happy to undertake more testing when you are ready.

PS - Would be useful if you could use version numbers in your filenames so we know which version we are using e.g. smileysms_ver_02. Also some release notes with the fixes put in place would help.

If you loaded the files into the first post in this thread it would save having to trawl through to find the latest file version, and it would keep the files and release notes in one place, ie at the start of the thread.

I was looking for this kind of program for ages.

I've installed the version 336Kb on my ASUS P535 - WM6.
After some ajustments in the "SmileysSMS Settings" sound and vibrate... Your program works 100% for me!
I like the icon in the title bar :).... Well, I like it 100%

Same here. First plays with sound, second nothing.

Is there no way to just use the default SMS notification hook? The Palm threaded SMS app overwrote the default one and hooked into the system with no problems, even worked with PhoneAlarm.

Also, on long messages I'm still getting the scroll bars, as opposed to the default system which expands the text box.

Very nice job , works perfectly on Elf with WM6 Original Italian version.

Only a little question:
Is possible to "localize" the messages notifications ("Mark read..." etc) and so on making it an international version ?

If needed I can give you the correct translation of all strings.

Ok,i've updated a new version 1.2
Lots of things are changed so i really dont know if everything is ok now or not.
But new things are:
- Sounds problem is hopefully fixed now.
- Animated smileies added.
- Less memory usage.
- phone numbers in sms are found and highlight,clicking on them will bring a menu!(thanks for junkyarddog idea)
- maybe :) problem when deleting message and then using mark read,error is now fixed.
- you can customize your smilies by adding or changing file names in smileydata.txt found in \program files\roozbeh gholizadeh software\smileysms

there was a small bug that if you specified a wrong gif file in smiley.dat file,caused hangs in inbox.i again reuploaded the files.

Just installed this and the sound function for an incoming text does not work for me. I went looking for the tool in Programs to alter the settings but it does not show up. Looked within your program folder but nothing shows up as an obvious place to make changes.

I am running this on a Tytn running WM6. Is this a problem?

The other problems I reported earlier seemed to have been solved; however have not tested enough to confirm.

That's the problem; your control panel is not visible anywhere on the device! I will deinstall and reinstall to see of that makes a difference (doubt it).

Would you consider also allowing this application to use other programmes (e.g. Phone Alarm) notification alert setting? Like I said, I'm using Phone Alarm to assign different alert tone for different contact. Would like to keep it. :)

Yes it is possible!
But if everybody agrees.
for example when a message is recieved,a notification comes,just showing you have recieved a new message,and after some seconds goes away.
but after that when you tap on notify icon,the real sms shows...

About allowing other applications like phone alarm do the ringing...

Only a little question:
Is possible to "localize" the messages notifications ("Mark read..." etc) and so on making it an international version ?

I think that the best (and simplest) way will be read the varius messages strings from a file containing the string's mapping (like the smiley.dat)
Smarter (but a bit complicate) could be let the user change language in the settings icon (in that case all traducted string are needed at installation time).
Can you put a list with all notification and menu strings? I'll put all corrispondent italian traductions.

2 little things more:
- You should modify the intallation engine to find the correct %programs_dir% enviroment variable (in italian version programs are installed in "\Programmi" and not in "\Program Files")

- I appreciate that you put the "clickable" phone numbers in the text message. Next step could be put the contact name (instead the phone number) if matching with a contact.

Example:
I have this contact in my list:
Name: Pinco Pallo
Phone Nr: +01234567890

I receive a SMS with this text:
"While you was offline +01234567890 tried to call you."

SmileSMS should notify:
"While you was offline Pinco Pallo tried to call you."

Right? (I hope....)

Unfortunately SmileySMS & SMSDRFixWM5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258130&highlight=smsdrfix) doesn't works if installed together (It works only the 1st installed one).

IMHO the nearly perfetct SMS notifier should have:

Only in SmileySMS
- Smiley (with a mapping file)
- "Clickable" number (call, add new ....)
- Change notify icon
- Change notify sound and/or vibra
- Change SW buttons action during notify ("Mark as read" is my best choice)

Only in SMSDRFixWM5
- Change numbers with Contact-s name (customizable)

Already in both SW
- Setting apps (or control panel)
- Easy to install and/or configure

Missing in both SW
- Localization language
- Customized SW buttons action during notify (someone could prefer "Replay" someone else "Delete" ....)

Here is experimental new version.
Most importantly i added feature to be able to see SMSs in inbox with smilies.
But those SMSs must be those who you have recieved with this application.
probabley later i'll add an option so you can also make all your previous SMSs smiley enabled too.

Becouse i dont have that much time from now on,i just wanted to give you this,and also i know better about bugs!

New features :
- In Inbox SMSs also show smilies!
- Notification windows now can have different heights,so long SMSs is now easier to read!
- Some bugs get fixed!

I still have to create a better settings menu,so those not intrested in my special bubble notifications,turn it down.and also those not intrested in inbox SMSs turning into smilies.

So I dé-installed the version and I reinstalled 1.5 and it goes better :)

1.5 seems to be working well and thanks for the resizing thing, it looks much better now. Smileys work in notifications and the inbox, no issues there.

One thing I noticed doesn't work is the "call back" sender option. Instead the message just dismisses itself but no call is placed.

Other than that it seems to working well. Occasionally (randomly) it won't resize, but it's only been once or twice.

Ok,i uploaded file again in first page,also there is a link in rapidshare for wm2003 version!

I mostly spent time on settings,new settings are added,so for eample you can only have inbox smiley forms and no notifications.
also vibrate time is customizable!

Please be sure to uninstall program-when inbox is not running!-.
and install it again-when inbox is not running-.

Also i added necessary changes so smartphone users can use this program too!
but becouse i know smartphone security and....may somethimes block everything,please report if it works!and if not!(i guess in any way you have to have an unlocked smartphone)

I go about things like this:
Send SMS...Get a Sent confirmation...dismis it...get a Delivered Notification...delete it.

I sent one last night but cannot find the Delivered Notification any more (I'm assuming it's in the SmileySMS Inbox now?

No,when you delete things they go completly go away...
but good point,i will instead move it into trash folder.

if you want to just see smilies in your inbox and leave all other things to system or other applications,just uncheck,"Show SMS Smiley bubble notifications" and check "Inbox Smiley forms".

anyway i removed files becouse i mistakenly turned on debug logging,so it will cause slowness when you recieve smss.

You're latest version 1.5a doesn't work on my P535 WM6.
It déactivate itself all the time :( (In the settingsscreen the first item never stays on :( )

some bufs fixed again,here is some bugs fixed today,so if you have one of these isues,please upgrade.
- "sent" text overlapping picture in inbox
- "sent" text is always trimmed when there is still no picture
- picture remains when you use right and left to navigate through sms'
- different heights for notifications,still you have to browse to see full text.
- when installing program you should be able to see all sms smilies(even previous ones)
- you should see default notification led flashing(if you set it in control panel)
- somethimes some settings wont save
- some smilies wont work,or html tags cause problems when uses in sms

I have just downloaded & reinstalled just in case you had made any updates to the WM2003SE version but I'm having the same problem.

It worked for 1 sms in v1.5 then stopped, have tried all updates since & none have cured it yet !

Yes go to smiley menu in settings &: (uncheck and check again "Inbox Smiley Forms" from program settings) then your updates to the smiley list should take effect.
Works for me.

ok again i made small update:
- date formats are now read from settings!
- there was a problem seeing items in sent folder
- program settings had lots of issues with vga screens,now almost fixed.

Actually making it flash,is little hard.Probably i'll add this option so you wont use default one.But for sure this option wont work on some devices,and will work on some others,afaik there is no 100% sure way to make phones flash

Great app. Roozbeh and great work.... I do second the suggestion of having the Contact name or phone number clickable and if its possible to have links clickable as well...... I have pictures sent to me and i am not able to click the link to the picture unless i copy and paste the link into my browser or click the option to have orginal SMS message appear as well. i just tell it to fit text into view,it seems it can not fit chineese!

Yes, for me I use PhoneAlarm. So what I did was to disable the SmileySMS notification, but just to have the smileys appearing in the Inbox. In that way, you can still use the profile application to set the alert tone.
But, I love my contact photo being displayed on incoming SMS notifications :(

I am wondering if it would be possible to enhance the default messaging application(tmail.exe) with such a function:

whenever you tap "send" button, it will somehow popup a msgbox to inform you that you're sending sb a message and to let you comfirm it. If yes, go and send it immediately, and if no, just return to the sms editing window.

Just in case you send a message to a wrong guy. People do make such mistakes sometimes, you know, especially when they're smschating with several people at the same time.

whenever you tap "send" button, it will somehow popup a msgbox to inform you that you're sending sb a message and to let you comfirm it. If yes, go and send it immediately, and if no, just return to the sms editing window.

Just in case you send a message to a wrong guy. People do make such mistakes sometimes, you know, especially when they're smschating with several people at the same time.

Great app, but when I receive a picture mail, I'm not able to click on the link to view it. Even if I go into the Text msg section directly, the "http..." text is not seen as a link and is not selectable (to copy in to browser.) If I uninstall SmileySMS, the links work fine.

They play but not the same as in any other gif viewer I have on my PDA & laptop. I find at the end of the sequence they flash to an all white image before running the sequence again !

When I bought my first PPC phone, I was really disappointed with the fact that there is no smiley in the SMS program (i.e., Pocket Outlook) until I saw a thread in this forum about SmileySMS program and wow ... this is it, the really lacking option for Windows Mobile-based phones.

I installed SmileySMS program version 1.52 on my device and I REALLY REALLY loved your work.

I had some suggestions (hope they will help making the program better):

1. If you arrange some change log for versions you develop and reflect them in the first message of this topic, I think it would be very useful.

2. I think the delivery report fix option can be optimized and include recipient's name and also type of the number that the SMS was sent to, for example, mobile, work, etc. (I like the picture in the delivery report)

3. I think it would be a good option to include in the settings to let users add new smilies to the program to be recognized; I tried SmileySMS seding an SMS from a Nokia phone and included all the 16 smilies on the Nokia in the SMS and 7 out of 16 was recognized as smilies by SmileySMS. This is already possible by editing the Smileydata file in the folder, and add in any smiley icons (gif file, etc) you have and then assign it in the file.

There is a work around. Basically, you just need to disable SmileySMS notification, and let smiley appears in the Inbox. Uncheck notification sound too. The other application for profile change will take over the task. For me, it's PhoneAlarm.

The disadvantage is that you can only see the smileys in the Inbox.

I noticed a bug. Once I get an sms text message and read the text message in the default text messaging app, your sms text notification still thinks I haven't looked at the text and will keep telling me there is a new text message. When I click your notification button I see the text message with a red X where the contact picture should be and I have like a second to click mark as read before the message disapears and i have to try to click the mark as read button again.

Just finished adjusting the smileys and .txt file for my own use. Somehow the animations seem to flicker when being displayed.

Can't seem to remember if it was with the original gif animations. Already checked the animations - they are not the problem.

Great tool - i love it! Added things like coffee, hug, sun and rain to the .txt file and it works great! (Accept for the flickering ;( )

Anyone has a solution for this one?

flickering problem might be becouse of your gif animated files.
maybe deleting one or two frames from them,using gif animated editors will help.

On smartphones also this program should work,bug if it is unlocked!

And about the issue when softreseting ands you no longer see messages.
i've seen this even when using inbox program and without my program.
lotf of times happened that i recieved an sms and after a while i did softreset and everything new were gone!
maybe hibernating and then softreseting will always help!(it must be windows fault,not mine)

I think you better take a look at MortScript. There is an application for the Treo 7x0 versions that makes the LED blink when you recieve an SMS. I'm using this on my Treo 750v and it's one of the best pieces of software on it :D BTW The program is called "Treo Alert Pro".

In know we're getting a little off-topic, so this is the last thing I wanna say about this :) The program is indeed ment for the Treo wich doesn't use a LED when there is a Radio signal. However the creator of the programm has a Mogul as well. He made Treo Alert Pro compatible with his Mogul. Maybe this info helps. One small issue:
At the time of receiving a new SMS, when I get the pop-up notification window on my today screen there is no option to view this SMS on full screen. It is many a times very annoying especially when the SMS is big enough.
May be you would like to add this option in the menu list..

Hello your program is really good - I particularly like the way it shows the contact picture in the sms notification.
I have some suggestions:
1) In wm6 the icon in the inbox is different to wm5 but if you use the smssmiley form the messages have the wm5 icon. Can this be updated so it doesn't look different from the rest.
2) when you use the smssmiley form delete seems to be greyed out when the message is open. Can it be reenabled? If you turn smssmiley off then delete is available again.
3) with the smssmiley inbox form it would be great if you could click on the number to open up the contact for the user.
4) on the today screen it would be nice to be able to customise which function appears on the left soft key. Mark as read is good but I quite liked having Reply.
5) I think the notification on the today screen would look better if the photo was top aligned rather than centre aligned. If the message is short it doesn't matter but on a long message it doesn't look as good having the picture in the centre.
6) Is it possible to have an insert smiley menu option when composing an sms?
On a different topic could you extend the program to display missed calls in the same way. If you get a missed call all windows does is pop up a message saying you have n missed calls which is hopeless compared to the sms popup (even the standard windows one). I think it would be great in the case where you only had one missed call for the message that popped up to look like your sms popup with the contact photo, name and number (because contact might have multiple numbers) plus date and time of call. Then the right soft key could have options to reply to call, send sms, open contact etc. If there was more than one missed call perhaps a list could be displayed with no photos.

I'm a fan of changing SMS ring tones for special contacts. I'm using MortRing and the only way to customize SMS rings is to disable the SmileySMS notification.

As far as i know MortRing doesn't play a ring itself but quicky changes registry key that stores the information about ringtone to be played before the system reads it. Maybe there's a way to show upgraded notification, and play the ring usual way.

I liked SMSDrFix different icon in notification area for delivery receipts. It allows you to quickly check whether there was an SMS received.

In fact I have delivery reports turned on only to know, when the message isn't received. The most of times delivery receipt is received just after sending and it simply disturbs me. Maybe you can add an option to play simple ring after receiving report and not to show any notification at all, even as tiny notification icon on the start menu bar. The receipts may be saved as usual in the inbox (or even in deleted items folder) to be able to check when the reply doesn't come quickly.

I tested v1.53 installed on internal memory of device.

all my newlines in my sms are translated to "< br >" (without the quotes, but including the spaces)
also, :-$ is not replaced correctly by an image, but it appears as :-¤

as mentioned before, after reading the new message in the inbox, the SmileySMS notification still doesn't see the message is already marked as read, and the notification should be removed.


in default sms message form, the date is marked as: Sent: Friday 13 november 2007 22:15

It would be nicer if we could get the following in your SMS message form: Sent: Fr 13.11 22:15

working with phoneAlarm if you set to still enable the original notification, in combination with not bubble for the original notification (in start -> settings -> notification) this is working quite well.

I added some missing simleydata simbols, like :-p and :-d (just some synonims for existing ones), Smileydata.txt attached.

Hi, found a bug on the 2003SE version 1.53.

If choosing "reply" to send sms to contact a blank message is created in the drafts folder regardless of what you do with the original message, IE: you can send the message, cancel message & you will still have a blank sms created in drafts folder.
If I deselect SmileySMS the problem goes away.
Any ideas ?
Also the D-pad does not scroll the message as the original pocket outlook does, would be a nice feature.

For the better understanding i have made you a hardcopy of it and show you my smileydata.txt.
The Blue marked Smileys on the picture are the sign :-)) and the red ones are ;;).
The Order of the signs are the same like that one in the Smileydata.txt.

copy the cab to you pda and launch it to install. to open the cab on your pc you need some software like WinCE CAB Manager or you'll need to investigate the xml to know which file needs which name

never mind... i tried it and it works! probably posting something that has already been answered but, here goes.

1. i downloaded smileys from post 183, put em in a folder on my desktop.

2.synced up and drug to my storage card.

3.found file via file explorer, then copy/pasted each one/SMILEY individually into the edit my text box option in the sms reply menu bottom right side of page.

4.make sure when you add these to YOUR TEXT you give each one a description cause the actual smiley does not show...only the txt code shows in this menu...so give it a name then when you choose one for your text quickley backspace the descriptive word and hit send!!! the real smiley face image will then be sent!!!

5.now i can add smileys to my outgoing text messages!!!

6.if this has already been discovered...flame me for not reading more carefully... if not please add HOW TO to the first post... it would be most helpful!!

i don't know if more than the stock 9 are possible but i am experimenting with the ones found on my mms settings. it seems if i just send text and smileys through the mms function, it asks me if i would like to use sms feature instead for the action. then it lets me use those smileys from there too. have you or anyone else tried this????? keep experimenting everyone!!:eek:

How does this program work with WM6.1? Since it uses threaded SMS.


It does seem to work on WM6.1. Except for the threaded part. I've now disabled threaded SMS to get this program working.

It doesn't necessarily have to be PhoneAlarm (I use PhoneWeaver)

But we'd like (if you can, of course) to set a different ringtone to different phone profiles.
So if I'm in the office, I'll choose a softer ringtone, and louder when I'm on a travel, etc.

At the moment, SmileySMS makes those phone profiling program useless, as it can only support one ringtone/notification when an SMS comes.. :)

I use a profile program called AlarmPal. There I can use an option to play the special sound "once" all "xx minutes" repeat "x times".

For some reason it does not show the same files like you see when you go to the normal settings window for notifications.
For example: When I select \Windows\ it shows a few AlarmX.wav but not all 5.

How come?

Second thing. I've noticed you skin only messages that contain smileys. Why not skin them all? Saves me from changing the CSS file;)

Compose form not working in O2 life wm6.1. and both smiley and original notification need to tick for phonealarm to work. Defeat the purpose as we will have 1 sms notified twice. :(

using phoneAlarm too, but as mentioned before, 1.54 beta is still not compatible with it, while I really would like to use smileysms. i hope you'll be able to get the trial version of phonealarm to make them compatible ;)

Phone alarm can, apart from playing different sms alert tone for different profile, play special assigned sms alert tone for specific number. So, say under office profile, i will have a generic alert tone for all incoming sms, but i will have a special one for my family member. Then, there's another special one when i go outdoor. So, 4 different sms alert tones altogether. :)

Same here on the compose part, as well as the sound. It feels like the CPU is on 100% and tries to play a WAV file. Mostly happens when the device wakes up while recieving a message.

I've got your program on my asus (p535 WM6) from version 1.5 (from the beginning).

Updated yesterday to 1.54, but the reply doesn't work.

What I like to see : an option to choose a image for background ;)

I did found some bugs on the compose part where some of the sms cant be replied which return "invalid number" or something similar. However, i didnt use the smiley sms inbox form infact stick it to the default windows form/style. I only use smiley sms for the reason of using mp3 as tone. Well, the smiley forms are not VGA which i had a flame. Its VGA competible but its not sharp.

Also with the last one the recieved characters were :?/> except the question mark was upside down (couldn't find one on the keyboard). The sound works fine, would like to see a reply link rather than mark as read, perhaps i missed a setting though. please point me out if I made any mistakes or missed the obvious. I also like the idea menioned early to see the smilies while typing and to have a pop up menu to select them from. Also Some instruction on how to customize smilies would be nice too. Other then that I like very much hope to see a few little improvements. You're doing an ace of a job.

Can you process all inbox message instead of only those containing smileys so that the layout and mail icons in the inbox is consistent.

Its working fine on my Qtek and on the Treo 750 of my wife...but on my Herald the program would freeze when I tried to answer the sms...had to go to settings/system/mem and close the running program there. The uninstal did not gave me any problems though, whent back to v1.53...

Might be disabled since it's disabled by default. But other than that one it does actually work on my Vario III.

make sure you close inbox before uninstalling!

here is another version just for test.

ADD : compatibility mode with phonealarm and like programs.
ADD : option to permanently delete report messages.

about phonealarm program.jsu note that if you have one shown notification and you recieve another sms you wont hear its ring tone.for next ones you probabely will hear.
but just make sure you make smsnotification go away.

New features of version 1.55 doesn't seem to work on my Trinity (WM6). 'Enable SMS Smileys' in the config keep 'untick' itself. When I select SMS Smiley notification instead of the default one and also compatibility with other notification applicaiton, PhoneAlarm notification didn't take over. Compose new sms didn't have smileys displayed as well.

Interestingly, I can still see smileys in incoming sms.

Addition:

Just now I realise my PhoneAlarm alert features for missed call etc are messed up. Have to uninstall and resintall version 1.54. But somehow it didn't quite work so I have to revert back to 1.53. Not sure whether I have done something wrong that causes all these. Hope you will look into it. = )

I just installed 1.55 and noticed the following things:
On Main Settings > The second option is "0.5s"
On Advanved Settigns > The fifth option is "1x"

What do these settings mean\do?

On Advanved Settigns > The sixth option does not realy fit on the screen.

but be sure to first uninstall previous one via "remove applications" then install this one!
-as always before install/uninstall make sure inbox is close-.

by the way phonealarm doesnt work for me in wm6,so i just tested this with wm5+phonealarm!
but program should work fine under wm6.(hopefully)

I am having trouble getting this program to work with WM6.1 on the Apache. Any known issues? I can invoke the configuration screen, make selections, but it does not seem to invoke for SMS messages.:confused:

Tried the new v.1.55. It works better now. But there's still this another notification sound (which I can't seem to find from where) with an incoming message before the assigned alert tone (in PhoneAlarm) came forth. I didn't even check 'Enable sound' feature. After I checked and assigned an alert tone, instead of it playing, the one I mentioned above still go off. Wierd.. =)

In compose form, I can see a smiley icon at the bottom, but when I type a smiley, it didn't appear as smiley, but just the symbols.

Anyway, it's getting better! Great job!

that sound is probabely from windows original notification sound.
see if Text message sound in notifications is off.

And well i guess in all applications when you type smiley it appears as symbols,yahoo messenger for instance.
if other party have smileysms or other devices which support smileys,it will be shown,dont worry!

implementing that,to show in compose form icons is really hard.probabley wont do that in near future.
