Hi there. I just installed WM6 on my 2020 and it is going really well except from TOMTOM version 6.201. It runs ok but the backlight turns of when you open the application. As soon as you exit it turns on again. WTF?

Totally off topic, neither Himalaya related nor WM6 related. Happens on Dells, Axims etc and with all WM versions.

actually its NOT totally off topic.
i have the same issue.
Installer ran fine on my himalaya running wm2003, 2003SE, and 2005, but as soon as i have upgraded to wm6 the issue happened.
and its on a himalaya
so how is this not related to him's or wm6?
OK it may not be SPECIFIC to ALL him's but people have requested help with all manner of other apps on here without being slagged off for it.
FYI theres a fix here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280507

-it's not specific to any himalaya or even any HTC device as it happens on devices from all brands, from all manufacturers, with or without built in phone
-it's not specific to any operating system either, the solution thread you mention is WM5 but it also happens on devices not running any WM version
-it's been solved by Tomtom in upgrade 6.0.3
It's unavoidable that currently in all device specific area's of this forum people maintain very similar threads about WM6, HTC today, Touchflo etc. Similar but not identical because these devices all are different. It would be a mess if Elf, Titan, Kaiser users would start discussing their problems in Hima threads.
Lots of interesting threads are being pushed down/out of sight already just because there's so much to discuss at the moment. We're just not a general any pda software related forum. It's by no means a crime to make a mistake as a newbie. But if nobody would correct it, the board would become almost unreadable. Everyone visiting forums (any forum) should know that the general idea is to stay strictly on topic. Being corrected is not "being slagged off"

Please note that to activate backlight in every tom tom version if you have the backlight problem, you only modify tom tom executable file, so copy it in your pc, edit with an hex editor and search fot "b a c k l i g h t", should be three of this, change the "a" of "b a c k l i g h t" to "b" so that should become like this "b b c k l i g h t" on every "b a c k l i g h t" you find and that's all!
Save the file and copy to PDA.

Now that this thread has unfortunately been kicked up in the Hima WM6 forum...
You need to couple your Bluetooth GPS to a Com port other than com0, com1, com2, com5 or com6 for IGO. Use automatic detection. I like the IGO interface, much more intuitive than Tomtom, IGO can create route logs, not only from roads but also while walking, biking or sailing. OTOH Tomtom is much better able to calculate the fastest routes for cars...while IGO allows easy manual changes to the calculated route.
