I tried Pocket Light, but the light won't turn on. In Camera it turns on fine. Is it the rom I'm using that causes it?

I have used that before and it isnt very bright as a flashlight. Its just a neat little gadget that could be used as a flashlight in a really dark room with no windows and the brightness is turned all the way up on your device.

Well, you guys want to turn it on and leave it on...mine's on and won't turn off. :( Going into the camera and turning off or on/off the flash doesn't help.
I've got this under the T-Mobile MDA moniker, a G3 with 2.26.10.2 sanctioned ROM. In fact, I just flashed to the 2.26 because I was hoping that might fix the issue. I even downloaded the VJCandela program and installed it to see if that might turn it off. No such luck.
If there's another way to turn it off, I'd appreciate the help. I apologize if this is a noobish question but for the sake of my poor besieged battery life, I request your aid. Thanks in advance.

I hope you can find an answer soon because eventually the flash will burn out....a hard reset doesn't disable it?

No, and that's what's really weird. Nothing turns it off. Powering it off, soft reset, hard reset/restoring factory defaults--like I said, I even upgraded the ROM to 2.26 in the hopes that doing that would trip it off. Nada. :(

Try finding a compatible copy of Haret. Not sure if one exists, but then you want to flip through the GPIOs. Again, not sure how you do that on the Wizard.
VJCandela has never been compatible with the wizard because I've never had one to test it on. I think I know how to do it, but can't release it until I test the hardware :(

Vijay,
I would think he's willing to test since the alternative is his flash is gonna burn out and his battery is gonna drain like crazy....sounds like a captive audience. ;)

Lol. Ok, when I say "test", I'm being over optimistic. I need to write. But I need hardware to write for, because I think I know how to write it!
However, this issue doesn't sound minor, if the flash is being forced on, and if you've tried a few different rom upgrades, it sounds more likely to be a hardware issue.
Does the flash go off when you enable and disable it in the camera app?

Hey, thanks for the responses, guys...no, going to the camera app and turning it on and off is ignored by the light.
And yeah, if somebody's got an idea for a software gizmo or a settings hack or something, I'm all ears. Just flashed, so haven't had a chance to do too much in the way of customizations to the thing. No better time for screwing around with stuff. :)

Widget. I had the same problem on my 8125 before I upgraded to WM6. My problem was do to water damage. The flash got wet and would not go off. I finally dried it out (or so I thought) and it went away. It came back and would not go off and drained my battery rather quickly. A week before I upgraded to WM6, I removed the flash and ordered another one. Works great!!!
If you dont know how to remove the flash, its pretty simple. You can google search how.

I've had the same problem with a Nokia 6111, it was wet inside. That's no software issue.

I was about to say water damage, if it is outside of warranty (or your warranty doesnt cover liquid ingress) then just whop the back cover off, give it a squirt of isopropyl alcohol and then wipe it off and use a rubber (like on a pencil) to try to remove the rubbish around it, try to avoid using something like an exacto knife to scrape it off.

So I've read about this problem some time ago and now I have it too.
Flashlight is always turned on. It isn't turned on to full brightness. Im sure no recent water damage was done. I have the protective flash and camera cover off because they were too scratched to use.
I hope it will solve somehow :(
btw: it is turned on even when I turn the phone off (not into standby - fully turned off!) :D only thing that stops it is when I remove the battery :(
edit>
so I've removed the flash LED from the back cover as it was just held there by those "hooks" (I don't know the right name for those).
The voltages was there from the board so changing flash wouldn't help. mainboard just didn't turn the flash off :( so problem is somewhere else.
Btw the battery says 3.7V but my voltmeter shows 4.8V, isn't that a problem? Do you have similar experience?
