View Full Version : Cannot open pics & videos (orig. WM5)

Hi all,

I'm running the swiss version of the Trinity, it's called v1510 and I still run the original WM5-Version on it.

Now I found out that nothing happend, when I try to open a pic or a video. All what happens is that the screen flashes shortly, and that's all. When I try to start the application pimg.exe (I think this is the correct program?) nothing happens.

I have no problems to open pictures with other apps like Xnview or SPB Imageer, but not with the build-in pimg.exe. It wont be such a problem for me, but the point is that I cannot add images to my phone-contacts, as nothing happens when I click on "add image". I suppose it trys to open pimg.exe, which is not working properly.

Therefore I'm searching of one of those solutions: how can I force the trinity to set Xnview or SPB imageer as the default viewer? So, that it starts one of those programs when I wanted to add an image to my contacts?
Or: what can I do to "repair" the original pimg.exe?

Thanks in advance & best regards
JoeSac

if you backup the data you wanna keep
then you can try out a hardreset to delete regs and such
if a reg got corrupt for that program

Hi,

does this work with SPB-Backup? This is the only backup-software I have. In this case I suggest I should not backup System-Data, as they could be corrupt, am I right? Well, maybe I will try a hard reset...

@hoyler30589: Well, I installed a few programs, but I absolutely dont remember from what time on the pimg.exe did not work... However, I did not install stuff regarding direct push clients.

Best regards

Hi all,

after performing a hard reset I re-installed all my former softs, and therefore I was aware of a software called "Helmi's WMedia Support". And yes: this was the reason for my issue: after installing it, the viewer didn't start, and after uninstalling it the viewer worked properly again. A very nice "media support"... Well, maybe it was designed for WM6, can't remember anymore...

Okay, I'm happy that I can now add the pics to my contacts! :)

Hey Joe...

I suffer from the same problem you had, and although I'm sure I never installed anything called "Helmi's WMedia Support", it might be worth a try installing and uninstalling it. Therefore I tried to google the tool, but didn't find more than one website from Taiwan which didn't allow me to download it.

Could you send it to me, if the program is free of charge/public domain?
