My 1.18 Radio shuts my Hima as low as 18%-10%. good enough!!! :D

Really? I've tested 1.19, 1.17 and 1.08 but it shuts at 30%. Is the 1.18 really good and shuts lower than 30%? they say the best radio was 1.08 and 1.18 in terms of performance not on the percentage of the battery.

I changed the Radio to 1.14 (original Radio for Hima)
I had ur prob as mention b4 but
when I changed the Radio to 1.14 The mobile suht at 25% battery
I think it will be solved by registry change
i hope our experts help us.

Hi, please have any problems with speed? Now I use this version rom of WM6, but.. Previousely rom, what I had installed (WM5 with AKU 3.5 - Helmi Himalaya AKU3.5 ROM SP2 rebuilt by Moeya Leonhart) was more quickly on my device.

And what "Settings-->System-->Performance"? When I enable this feature, device is extreme slow.
Btw. programs I have installed last X years that same. There is not a hitch in it.

hey, dont expext to much from this ROM because it is just the first WM6 ROM for Himalaya. let us wait till the other developers can cook more WM6 ROM. i agree that it is slower than the WM5 3.5 Helmi ROM but it is quite stable on its own. lets wait a bit and maybe they can have the TouchFLO working on our hima. :) :)

Are you experiencing any problems with battery life?
at wat batt% does the Hima HR or die?

To be honest - I don't know :D In a working week I have my Hima almost all the time connected, so... And through a whole night it drains for just few percent, so in the morning it's 70-80%.

Maybe on this weekend I'll see if it happens to me.

based on ur signature,

HTC Himalaya - PlusGSM (Poland)
WM6 AKU 0.7.0
Radio 1.19

Are you experiencing any problems with battery life?
at wat batt% does the Hima HR or die?

i can only get upto 30% on this ROM..
on WM5, i can get upto 9%..

same apps, except HTC home..
but i took out HTC home, and got same results...

crap! upped the radio to 1.18 and still gets upto 29% batt life only..
with or without HTC home... would changing the pagepool and RAM config have any effect on the batt life?

this ROM is perfect for me if the batt drain would be slowed down and would only die at 10% or lower...

:(

the midlet manager isnt working
the battery dies quickly
i think the problrm of the radio that shuts with the battery is a hardware issue as it doesnt happen to me , it is still alive at 10%
I guess we need to increase the storage more than (30MB using the DOC) as still many softwares put some files in the storage although i choose the RAMdisk and the storage card in the installion

It definitely is.
I have 3 batteries (2 original 1200 mAh, one 1500 mAh after market) and two devices.
Both devices run up to approx. 10% with original batteries and shut off at 30-40% with after market battery, both under WM 5.0 and WM 6.0.

If you start the phone with no sim, the network wizard will not start... or if you dont need it, just close or abort on first network wizard start.

Of course, but only by re-cooking it.
Yeah, personally I prefer such a configuration: 32MB of RAMDisk and 16MB of page pool. When I'll be ready with a first version of my ROM, I'll post it as such.

Thank you for posting this new ROM.

I have however run into a problem. I'm using Vista Ultimate, Windows Mobile Device Center, and Kaspersky Internet Security. After I turned off Kaspersky, put my XDA II in Boot Loader Mode, and run the EXE file, it returned with a "Connection Error" message. After that happened, I soft reset the device, and was able to sync it using WMDC.

Any suggestions?

Dear, Charnk. I have problem like you. Now I try to search the solution to fix it. if i find out I'll share it to you. if you have new idea to fix this problem please share it to me. Thank in advance. Hope we injoy together with this new rom.

I`m new in this forum and I followed all the steps for installing this rom correctly.

I installed all the programs in the addon, I did the storage hack thing and everything was going fine because I get 16Mb of free storage.
then, I installed some programs that I didnt want, so I decided to install everything again (even W6).

I followed all the step from the first post, and everything is fine, but now I got 27.76Mb of free storage!!!!!! (there are only 2.77Mb in use!!!)

Is this normal???? What was my mistake?

I think that the radio problem that shuts at 30% is a hardware problem as i said b4

Sorry that disturb you so much.

Windows XPSP2 ActiveSync 2.5
I just follow step 5 and so on from the generally accepted instructions:
1. Extract the decrypted versions of the nbf files
by entering the following commands at the command prompt:

xda2nbftool -x NK.nbf NK.nba 0x20040304
xda2nbftool -x Radio_.nbf Radio_.nba 0x20040306

2. Modify the operator ID in the nbfs to the value you require
by entering the following commands at the command prompt
substituting <operator> with the required value:

xda2nbftool -sd PH10 -so <operator> -sl WWE NK.nba
xda2nbftool -sd PH10 -so <operator> -sl WWE Radio_.nba

3. Update the crc values for each of the decrypted files
by entering the following commands at the command prompt:

xda2nbftool -c -u NK.nba
xda2nbftool -c -u Radio_.nba

4. Encrypt the files back into the nbf files by entering
the following commands at the command prompt:

xda2nbftool -x NK.nba NK.nbf 0x20040304
xda2nbftool -x Radio_.nba Radio_.nbf 0x20040306

5. Start your device in bootloader mode by pressing and holding down:

DPad + PowerButton + ResetButton

After a second release ResetButton, then release the rest of them.
Your screen will show word "Serial" at the top.
You are in bootloader mode now.

6. Place your device in the cradle, ensuring that the cradle
is plugged directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub
and that the power supply is connected to the cradle.
It is also a good idea to disable any screensavers on your desktop PC.

Once your device is cradled, the text on the screen will change to "USB".

7. Run HimaUpgradeUt.exe (or HimaUpgradeUt_NoID.exe if flashing on any Himalaya other which is from than O2)

8. Sit back and wait for the Congratulations screen to be displayed
on your PC. Your device will still be displaying 'Upgrading radio stack, please wait',
but as long as the PC says it is done, then its all OK.

9. Detach your device from the cradle.

10. Now you have to hardreset your device.
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.

Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)

Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES

When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.

Program memory - 61.3MB (24.93mb use)
Storage Memory - 30.5MB (15.33mb in use)
RAMdisk - 32MB - (19.07 in use)

I think that program memory + RAMdisk makes 128 mb, right?
But mine, is only 93.3MB in total. Is it normal?

No.
RAM + RAMDisk + PagePool. You have 32MB of page pool...

1-Storage's too small: I try to make BigStorage by using extendedromunlocker, Hima_DOC_Tool_1.0 and Hima_DOC_Tool_1.0 Step by Step but it show me "Debug Error" while I Unhide and Unlock Exten_Rom.

2-RamDisk can't store programs: Can't Completed seting program to store in RamDisk. just show me set to other storage.( RamDisk free space=33MB )

3-Itent MIDlet deosn't work: Can't set up ItentMIDlet.

4-Camera: No interface like as before when take a pictures.

1. You should very carefully follow the instructions. Take care that unlock/unhide is installed on /device, not ramdisk or storage card. Do a soft reboot after each individual step. I can do it and I'm a newbie like you.
2. Lots of programs have hard coded install paths in their cab files, they never install to Ramdisk. Too bad, no solution. Some do allow to set paths after installation, sometimes through a menu(often hidden too deep in optios), sometimes you even need to edit the registry (CAREFULLY). To be on te safe side always first COPY the files to the new path, change settings, then see if everything still works after deleting the files from the old path and don't forget to soft reboot.
3 I have no idea what that midlet is but I believe I've read that you need Tao Itent, see some other posts in this thread
4 I don't like the camera interface either, but it does take pictures... When you get used to it, it actually works easier than the old interface

Do search for PPC PIM Backup - it's the best IMHO backup app currently (at least in 2.5 version, earlier ones were not so good).

Sorry I didn't see in the 1st page :p

But now I've big problems with storage...I had a look on different tools but none of these is able to resize the Storage to more than 31Mb...I already this size in my storage, is there a way to increase it to 60Mb for example, instead of having 60Mb for Programs?

Nope. Hima has 64MB of ROM (of which 30 is OS, 30 is storage (after joining with ExtROM) and 4 is radio), and 128MB of RAM - which you cannot use for storage... just use it as a RAMDisk :D

On your desktop computer you have:
BIOS ROM
VGA ROM
RAM
Video Ram
cache RAM hardware on motherboard, on harddisk, in processor...
Ordinary RAM controlled by your OS as cache
Storage (harddisk, CDROM etc)
virtual RAM on storage
You can compare the BIOS ROM more or less with the ROMs being cooked and shared here.
The pagepool is being used by your Hima just to speed things up, just like the different kinds of cache on your desktop
The storage, Ramdisk and SD card aer just like the storage on your computer. When you install software, no matter if it is on your desktop or pocket device, you write to storage.
The program RAM is where the programs actually run, load their data, create screen output and receive input from buttons, touchscreen, radio, camera and so on, just like the RAM in your desktop.
Actually we're not so different from computers, we use storage for books, dictionaries, filing papers, photo albums, the lot. And we have our active RAM in our heads.

He already flashed, so he has activesync 4.5. His problem is that he didn't read the instructions and didn't activate usb in settings>connections.

And he doesn't know that there are 3 rom files you can send, either all at once, or one by one:
nk.nbf (operating system rom possibly with extras)
ms.nbf (extended ROM, my advice: don't)
Radio_.nbf (finally a file with a simple name)
HimaUpgradeUt sees which roms are available in the same directory and burns these. So you can switch radios as much as you want. But I advice: if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Even with my battery meter fully in the red and my CPU clocked down to 200 MHZ I'm still able to make a call. Sound quality isn't very good, I don't know if it is because of lack of power for radio or too few clockticks. Battery life is however great. XCPUscalar is worth buying or at least trying. I also tried PocketHackMaster, gives better result on extreme speed, switches smoother between speeds, but less stable and less battery life.

First of all I have to commend you guys on an excelent job, not only is the ROM beautiful, but it is blazing fast and very stable.

now to the topic above. The explanation is fine and very understandable, but it still doesn't explain why you cant install programs to the memory card  . As much as i love this ROM and the addons that are with it, as much as i am frustrated with the fact that I cant install anything else because the storage fills up very quickly. any clue on how to get around this?

i also tried to resize, repartition, the storage using the tools explained earlier. I first tried to unlock the extended ROM on my Himalaya, but it didnt work. although i am a newbe to this forum, but i pride my self of being a person who follows directions down to the dot. When i tried to unhide the ROM is sayed that it is successful. soft reset and the ROM is still hidden. so i try to unlock thinking that maybe the explorer, or me :o, is blind, but I get a lot of debug errors, then a message that says that the ROM is unlocked. i try to resize hoping that it will, and it says that the repartition is sucessful. but again nothing :(( any ideas? I also tried the previous doing a hard reset rather than soft.

btw, sorry for the long post

When you get the message repartition successfull, that is just what it means. Congratulations. You added about 15MB to the RAMdisk, that was originally about 15MB so now you should have about 30 MB RAMdisk. You can store a lot there. It is however not the kind of storage you want.

There is a commercial solution to transport installed software from storage to RAMdisk. It's called PocketMechanic from http://www.wizcode.com/

Or you can manually copy and paste files but you should know what to move and where to find it. Additionally you'll have to edit the registry if you know where to find the keys and you'd have to edit the shortcuts. Not an easy job I can tell you, and with no guarantee to success.

But it would be much wiser to be very selective on what to install and what not to. Without moving anything I have 17 programs installed and still 14MB storage free. Do you want to tell us what's clogging up your storage?

Congratulations. You added about 15MB to the RAMdisk, that was originally about 15MB so now you should have about 30 MB RAMdisk.

Ummmm..... RAMdisk? :p
It's a storage, not a RAMdisk.

One can have even 72MB RAMdisk... it's only up to you, it's just it takes away program memory (RAM).
You can install your applications to storage, to RAMdisk and to storage card. If some app don't want to install itself into your chosen location, it's this app's problem.

Question. Why can't you send/receive files using the bluetooth stack in this ROM? Trying to send some files from my mac to my XDA using BT but the mac's claiming my device doesn't have the necessary services. (File transfer used to work fine on 2K3 with widcomm and 2k5 with the crappy MS stack).

I just literally finished setting everything up on my phone after flashing this ROM so i'm sure y'all can understand my frustration at finding out bluetooth is sub-standard.

Any chance of including/posting a link to a better bluetooth stack (possibly a widcomm one)?

On a brighter note, this ROM is actually pretty cool. I'm liking the new WM6 features. There's a few typos in the "performance" app in controlpanel but other than that, it's all good!

EDIT: BT FTP doesn't work if the phone screen's off (done using TCPMP) or in standby mode with BT active (why is this? It used to work in widcomm.).

If the phone's on and the screen is active, BT FTP works okay....its just a major battery drain if you're transferring something big and you disable standby (but forget to turn it back on)

They work fine for me. (In fact, they wouldn't turn off till i reset. Then i hard reset, cleared registry & storage & everything was back to the way it shoulda been.)

Anyone got any comments/answers regarding my bluetooth question on the previous page?

Question. Why can't you send/receive files using the bluetooth stack in this ROM?

EDIT: BT FTP doesn't work if the phone screen's off (done using TCPMP) or in standby mode with BT active (why is this? It used to work in widcomm.).

So... is file transfering working for you, or not? Or you meant BT FTP? I'm asking, 'cause file transfer is not the same, as FTP... The normal everyday BT file transfering is known as OBEX.

As for the standby thing... you know, if the screen is off, all the system is off, I mean some very few processes are working. Do you want transfering in this mode (which I doubt it's possible) or you want to wake up your device from this state on file incoming?...

WM6 Soundfix is included in the rom file. You can download it from the links in the first post. If you have difficulties with rapidshare, etc you can download it from direct link in http://cangkrep.com :)

You can't have program memory = 128MB. It would mean you set page pool = 0 - it's impossible.

And the RAMDisk itself is easily set in registry, but I've never tried if it requires HR. If so, you couldn't do it without changing your ROM image and reflashing.

Ah so.
Anyway, you set RAMDisk in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RAMDisk] - for 0MB it would be:

but I really don't know if it requires HR, or not. Try and tell us, if after a soft reset it changed. :D

Hm, today I've found an article from MS MVP man, that Microsoft is forcing OEM makers to build in such things, like forcing to shutdown at around 20-40% of batt... So, probably this particular problem is dependent on what exactly device we have...

As for me, I have a Qtek 2020 - it's made directly by HTC...

BUT - you didn't had such problems with WM5 nor PPC2003, did you?

Actually, if you DON'T SWITCH OFF device, it works up to 5% or 10%, whatever you set in Batty, but if switch off, then it stops working at 30 or 40%

Do you think it's possible to integrate or to have the comm manager like that:

So... is file transfering working for you, or not? Or you meant BT FTP? I'm asking, 'cause file transfer is not the same, as FTP... The normal everyday BT file transfering is known as OBEX.

As for the standby thing... you know, if the screen is off, all the system is off, I mean some very few processes are working. Do you want transfering in this mode (which I doubt it's possible) or you want to wake up your device from this state on file incoming?...

Haha, oops. My bad. I meant OBEX.

I'll be honest, either option (transferring when device is in "standby" or waking device up on incoming) would be great. Hell, i'd be happy with a few more customisable options as well (profile switch-etc). TBH i'm a bit of a fan of the customisability of the widcomm stack and really miss the "freedom" it provided. MS's version just feels too crippled.

BTW, BT between my XDA and another phone doesn't work at all. Both phones set to discoverable and on but the XDA denies the incoming request. The only message i get on the phone is that the file transfer has failed.

Anyone else experienced this? I'd really like to get bluetooth working at it's full capacity again as soon as if possible. Without wifi, BT's all i really have to move stuff around on the go.

Ok, yesterday I've found a phone which couldn'r connect to my Hima, it was Sony Ericsson. All others I tried can do that, fortunately. Strange

As of the other matter... As for now, I didn't found any solution to wake up on BT incoming transfer - but I hope it's possible :)

Hello poke8..Welcome to XDA-DEVELOPERS..

The Procedure to upgrade :

1.The Most important Step is to Backup ur Data..as its going to Erase every thing..u can use the attached software for backing up
2.Enter Boot loader by Pressing the DPad (DIRECTIONAL PAD) + PowerButton + ResetButton
Now ur screen Should Read "Serial" at top and a version number..mostly 1.06
now attach ur USB the screen should say USB and ur Pc will detect a new device..let it load the drivers and now proceed to the last step
Run the Upgrade Utility (its suitable to Run the NOID one)
Now dnt bother if ur screen looks weird..when the computer Displays CONGRATS screen..ur done..but there is one more step...Disconnect ur Device
Now you have to hardreset your device.
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.

Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)

Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES

When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.

U hav to run htis application direct from the POCKET PC after Extracting it

I tried this about a year ago. I'm a retired hardware engineer, retired since 1995. I found out that my hands are just a bit too shaky, my eyes are just not good enough and I lack concentration and routine to do a proper and safe job. Fixing a bad contact in the standard connector is much safer and eaier because it's much more stable than those wires to the (mini)USB.

Anyone who wants to try it: beware, do not overestimate your skills. In case of doubt find yourself the help of someone who's experienced and does such things on a daily basis.

Utak3r chk this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=242772)..it says there that it works well for HIMA..

Thanks :)
But... I know, how to change it, it's just is not so easy - you have to make a "spider" ;) not just to solder a new connector... that's why I didn't make it till today.

Hi guys,

I've flashed this on my qtek2020 and the battery monitor doesn't report anything. Except for that the rom really kicks-asses, fast, sober, etc :)

As far as I tested it, only the battery monitor is faulty on my device.

Any idea on how I could get it to work?

Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES

Sorry , but what is BT PAN?

Personal Area Network over Bluetooth.
On your PC there's a new network created (new network connection) and you have your both devices connected in such a way that every network application (both on PC and PPC) can operate with this connection :)

The most common usage is using your Hima as an internet provider for your PC (for example laptop while in journey).

What Stack do you use?

I tried the Widcomm often, too ... but the main Problem since WM2005 was, that i cant use my BT Headset and Pan Profile with the same Stack. No Sound.

I want to use the WM6 BT Stack (it supports the PAN Profile) ... the Headset works perfect, but when i pair my Him. with my BT Accesspoint it cannot explore any services form it.

Only a registry Problem or more ... any hints for us Helmi?

Hello, I'l been using Tofclock Rom, posted in the begining of this thread. I can say that's the best rom I used until today. Nice work, and a good way to remember Tofclock.
But I Have a doubt. I flashed my device, and I used th "Hima doc tools" to upgrade my Storage memory to 30,53 mb. I installed most of the programs in the Storage card (and some in RamDisk, those like SPB Pocket Plus who need to be fast) but I have only 4.05 mb free. Too low!
I suspect that used memory in Storage is persistent, since it doesn't free when I remove something from the PDA.
1) Is this true?
2) Is any way of increase storage in sacrifice of Ram Disk? To 40 mb, for instance.

Thanks in advance.
And congratulations to those who are working for extending the life span of this good device.
Best regards.

Most uninstalled software leaves some traces, some even make a mess of your storage. Use File Explorer or even better a tool like Resco Explorer (that can unhide almost any hidden file) to browse your file tree. Or use one of the many tools that clean up your tree.

No, unfortunately the 30.53MB storage is probably the best result we'll ever get from our Hima's.

The good side is that it forces you to keep your device tidy. Yesterday I was near 8MB storage, I cleaned up today, installed even more software and now have 14.77 MB free.

Don't forget the internet cache explorer, if you naviagate the cache takes space of rom, you can change location of pie cache to ramdisk changing register:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
"Cache"="\RamDisk\Temporary Internet Files"

There is a message I believe in Wiki, with pictures, of how someone was able to short the battery contacts with the battery cover (I believe) causing the device to hard reset with cleared RAMdisk after replacing the battery. Perhaps it's not in the Wiki but in this forum. Anyhow, that's one way to clean RAMdisk and hard reset.
It also happened to me once when I dropped my Hima accidentally from desk to floor. Very scary way of resetting, do not try this at home.

Another problem happened here is that phone taking longer time before ringing. The caller has hear 4 to 5 ring before my phone ringing.

a registry tweak that I found in a tread by AX3L:

HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0
edit "Script" value to av0pr

On my Hima (with another ROM version than this thread) that value was apw3r. It is more responsive now but there always is a delay between the first ring the caller hears and the first ring the receiver hears. The amount of delay depends on a lot of factors. For example is the caller on a traditional wire network or also mobile? Is he/she on the same network as you? How much traffic is there in the mobile cells that you and the caller are in...

yeah... how big your ringtone file is?...

Good point, a hifi stereo 30 seconds WAV is not a smart ringtone.
Another pitfall: lots of wav's, mid's, wma's and mp3's are made by amateurs who leave one or two seconds silence at the start of the clip...
