Hi,

I installed ActiveSync 4.5 in my laptop and also executed the "3gnetopt.exe" to optimize the 3G connection speed (I followed this from the HTC Kaiser user manual).

It is working fine when I connected the laptop to the internet via Internet Connection Sharing from the PDA.

However, in the office, I connected my laptop to the office network (really super fast!).

Problem is ... when I attached the PDA to the laptop ... suddenly my internet connection is really slow!

Then I tried to turn off all settings in the ActiveSync because I only want to charge the PDA.

[v] Show status icon in taskbar
[ ] Allow USB connections
[ ] Allow connections to one of following
This computer is connected to: [ Automatic ]
[ ] Open ActiveSync when my device connects
[ ] Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop

But still, when I attached the PDA to the laptop via USB cable, the internet is slowing down.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks.

if the issue is that your laptop use the internet from the pda rather then the office internet connection then you can

enter
view network connections

pick the normal lan interface
choose properties
pick tcp/ip
choose properties
uncheck automatic metric
set a number lower then the pda connection

and do the same for pda connection but with a higher interface metric

then your pc will always use the lan internet when it can

Hi Rudegar,

Thanks for your feedback.

I found that when I connected the PDA, there will be a new network location created "Windows Mobile ...".

And it will be deleted automatically after I disconnected the PDA.

So, I managed to fix this by disabling that network location.

PS: you are correct, the metric of the PDS is 1 and the office net is 10.
