View Full Version : Where does the .CAB go when installing to main memory?

I am on WM6 now but back when I was on WM5, I remember there was a staging location for all .cab files when an application demanded to be installed on the main memory.

At the moment, I am trying to install the Windows Live Messenger beta to Storage Card but it fails when I try to do so. However when I attempt the same install to Main Memory it works fine.

I've forgotten now but in the past (WM5), the installation generates a .CAB file and puts it in a consistent location - from here, I should be able to move/run this file so as it install it on the Storage Card again...

As per this thread here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=302153), I also tried a search of My Device for all .CAB files created in the last 2 days but still nothing :(

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
BB.

\Application Data\Volatile\

you can safely delete everthing in this folder, its where cabs are expanded to be installed.

I hope this what you were looking for.

Big thanks RevAtB - that is EXACTLY what I was looking for!

Managed to free up some much-needed space in there too!

Thanks again :)
