I will pay for a WM6 ROM for hx2795 that really works

I have the hx2490b and I did this several times successfully. I use the SP32408 Ruu for the update. First put the device in white screen bootloader mode(push 2,4 and reset button), put it to the grundle and push calendar button. Then I run the ruu and when pass the check I rename the original nbf to nbf.bak and the wm6 nbf file to the name of the original. After push next and all goes well. With this procedure you take mismatch error?

Yeah right i take mismatch error!
For my understanding: Bootloader: i push the Button contacts and messaging together and press the reset, then i let the reset off and after this the other buttons; my display is now blue with a white quadrate at the right upper corner; at the lower left corner is nothing and when i push the calender button there shows "AC disconnected"; if i do the ipaq in the cradle there is "AC connected" and then it change to "USB"...

Now i have flashed to 1.00.00 L with the HPRUU from "L", after this i do upgrade to 1.00.00 H with the HPRUU from "L" and after it i will try to upgrade to wm6 with the same bootloader!

Edit: The same error message as evry time! "digital sign mismatch" and the Rom Update Program says: RUUClientDriver.dll could not initialize the Device! So what can i do?

Ok if i push contacts and itask and reset button there comes the "Pre-BL: 1.00.04"; if i push the Device into the cradle and push calender theres nothing....so i cant flash new rom on it - what i make wrong?

When you press calendar it connects whith the pc, but seems that nothing happens. Run the update utility and if its not connected you will get an error. Otherwise you can continue.

Oh no i have a new problem: If the IPAQ where in craddle Active Sync wouldnt sync ... there was a memory problem, but why???

hx2410 only has 64MB of memory so now I have:
Storage: 14.9MB
Program: 53.58MB

Is there any way to change this ratio? In WM2003 I could change this ratio by moving slider in memory settings. There is no such option in WM6.
Do you think that this ratio could be changed in registry of pda?
Any other solution?

Hi everybody , I have a hx2750 with the first relased WM6 Pdaviet rom . I'm quite happy with that , but I've read that there is another one released in December . Well , I don't know if someone of you knows what are exactly the changes.....I'd like to know if someone has tried wifi with WPA2 : this thing doesn't work on my ipaq , with the first rom . Maybe the second one ?

Still no dice. I still get the CRC errors despite the fact that I followed just about everything I've read before. After the "file crc check faillure". I get the HPRuu screen back with an Error: 512

My 2790b simply will not accept any other rom.

Anyone any ideas left? does the 2790b need a different HPRuu program then the 2795b?

Something you missed, read the tutorial in page 7 carefully. You must have the device in white screen bootloader mode, use the SP32408 rom and switch the nbf files. There are people that succeeded to put wm6 in this hp model.

Restart the PDA, then go to white screen and try to run hpRUU with WM6 (the ROM is renamed to "Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_5_WWE.nbf". So when I ran it...

Hi guys , I've changed from the "old" pdaviet rom to this "new" one .
According to me , it's slower . It has no activesync problems and , I think , less battery draining issues . Also , it has less ( or no ) wireless issues (in the first one the wireless thing sometimes hanged up ) I'll try the wpa2 with this one , because in the previous one it didn't work .
I'll let you know , but I think I prefer the first one , it's faster . ;)

you could try with the first pdaviet rom , doing the activesync thing ( read all the stuff in wm6 bugs and suggestions ) to prevent it for loading and draining your battery . I think it's better than the last one , but it's only an opinion AND my model ( hx2750 ) is different from yours .

I think I did (cant recal anymore)... But still comparing to WM5 ... wm6 is only nicer looking. Soo many issues. I think I'll wait for some time :) ... Just hope that there will be a good ROM.

This rom can operate with SDHC card upper than 8Gb and it has universal loader, which independent from your default rom language.

I think that the problem is the different language. I have a similar problem with my hx2490b after I flashed with the latest russian wm6 rom(in russian not english). If I remember well it needs to flash it first with the original wm5 rom(SP32408 in my case), cause any other way fails. Hope that helps you.

Bootloader it's state whitch you can on by pushing contacts + itask + on/of (button) and soft-reset whole....and finally calendar. This state enable to upload a new ROM even if Your PDA not valid.

I flashed my 2750 with your new rom. i`ve got a problem, with tomtom installed my bluetooth module stop working. I`ve got an error like "The Bluetooth Radio Failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory avaible. You must perform a normal reset befere you can turn ON the bluetooth radio". I try a soft reset but nothing happens, i cant` turn it on. If i remove tomtom BT start works again.

The calendar today item shows the info correctly but when tap to open the application I get an error popup without any description when push the ok button the program exits. This happens and if I run from windows dir the calendar.exe or calendar.lnk
Also messaging dont work. The today item don't show nothing ecxept the envelop icon, and when tap on it seems to open the program but the screen doesn't change and freezes until to push the top right ok button to close it.
Have anyone else mention these issues?

Calender works for me, but not messaging. Also Bluetooth from Wireless manager doesnt work. I have used the version from 12/02/2008 and done clean reset. In HP Asset Manager the date appears as 11/02/2008

Hi YuRRIX , I've the same Absolut3k's problem regarding BT and Tomtom .
I'm sure I've used the latest WWE rom .
My device is ah HX2750 too .
Also , I can't find credant Bio tools .

troubles with wmv going choppy , anyway I've always had them

edit : for Absolut3k : after you've installed Tomtom , go to device/windows and just rename the file "btcoreif.dll" into whatever you want . now soft-reset and voillà . Thanks to vampire2k5 ;)

I've installed the wm6 firmware on my Ipaq 2410 about 2 months ago and everything has been absolutely great - except for one thing - I only have 14MB of storage memory - a really low amount. I try to install everything on my memory card, but not all programs will install there.

Is there any firmware that allows more internal memory?
Is there another solution to increase the internal storage memory?

- Wireless : does not always reconnect when coming back from standby mode . Sometimes it just keeps staying "frozen" and doesn't reconnect , while the blue led flashes . It's the main issue with my hx2750 , I often have to soft-reset or shut off - shut on .
- msn live : i'd rather prefer to install it optionally , not to have it already built-in the rom

others maybe will come , i hope to be useful .

I had alot of issues using Vista 64 namely it didnt work at all for rom flashing didnt see the PDA in BL mode at all

XP was flawless first time

I highly recommend using XP to flash I run a duel boot because of some gaming and software issues I have with Vista 64 so its easy for me.

However I have to say Vista 64 is growing on me.

Hi JarekG, I think, that WM06.rar is from 4PDA.ru community (check this (http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=52176) out) not from pdaviet. Right now I am on PDAVIET WM6 5.2.1933 b 18533.0.3.1. I tried yurix WM6.1 version (for more infos look at this (http://all2me.blogspot.com/)), but due to problems with wifi/bt manager I stay on pdaviet version for a while, till it is definitelly corrected (fix integrated in to RUU, not as .cab). I am on 2790b. I tried every rom available for hx2xxx series, and if it was necesary changed manually PP to 8MB. With this settings I had better performance, absolutely no battery drain nor compact task problem. Later I found, that my compact problem was mainly caused by SPB Pocket Plus 4 program, so I decided to uninstall it (too bad, coz I using this one for years on all my PDA´s :o ) Anyway thanx to all of you, whos cooking your versions for hx2xxx series.

hi there, I dont want to make any conclusions, which version is da best one. :D I just using the pdaviet right now. maybe we can do some pool about it. please consider my last post as my own opinion, not as a guide for anybody. 100 people, 100 taste ;) I found, that I have no problems with pdaviet version at all, stable, fast (maybe not fastest, but I did not compared via benchmarks). I guess newer builds can be a bit faster, that the older one.

You know I changing ROMs so fast, so sometimes I forget to change my signature too :D

To your bugfree, I dont use all PDA functions, so there is possibility, that somebody can find problems with pdaviet. e.g. I dont use email functionallity anymore, I dont use WMplayer (coreplayer instead), dont use IE (opera, netfront instead), dont use standard events, tasks (Pocket informant instead) etc etc.

You can download latest pdaviet on www.pdaviet.com, but you must be registered. This can be a diffucult, because of different language, but if you know vbulleting forums well, you should have no problem. or use direct link, which is for HP IpaQ roms only - link (http://www.pdaviet.net/forumdisplay.php?f=125). There is a lot of mirrored places you can download from. If you need download something, let me know, I can remirror it for you on rapidshare.

TIP: you can easily change language on pdaviet page to english, then the registration process should be no problem to you. but you must approve your account via email message. I waited 2 days for this email, after that I was able to access all forums download linx.

Finally, I upgraded my hx2110 from wm2003se to 1.00.00.L (WM5.0) to pdaviet wm6.0. Seemed running fastest/smoother in 6.0, but had little room (only 9MB) left to install other softwares. Comparing to 1.00.00.L (WM5.0) had 17+MB.
So it's reverted to 1.00.00.L (WM5.0) now. But I still like the wm6.0 version.
Is there any method to compact the pdaviet 6.0 Rom size (or is there any compact version) to use on my hx2110 (64M Ram/64M Rom)??

all this stuff has been already described in this thread, so for more detailz read it whole. it will take a time, but you will find priceless informations. it dont want to repeat the same information twice, now it is problem to find any relevant information in this thread.

my signature is clickable. the procedure is not trivial as in other devices. Now after few flashes I found how to short the whole process of flashing, but sometimes it is necesary to labour a bit about it. if you dont know how to use boolooader, PRE-bootloader (white screen loader) then I cannot recommend this upgrade for you. so in short -

you can put your device in to two bootloader modes -

normal bootloader screen - press message and contact button together and reset with stylus once. after bootloader screen appear, press calendar button. if you dont do that, device restart itself after a few moments.

white bootloader screen (used when standard RUU dont want to put yor ROM to device) - press itask and contact button together and then reset with stylus. after that press calendar once.

the procedure itself is trivial, you must run RUU updater, accept the first window, then wait to detect your device, then you swith the ROM file in RUU directory and press flash. Sometime youo can receive error message about wrong sign. I use the old WM5 update directly downloaded from HP site, and this way I already flashed few roms (WM5 and WM6, it doesnt matter).

right now I am not on my home PC, so after I come home I can upload to rapid all tools, I using to flash 2790b. I dont use mtty, only RUU. I also use pagepoll changer (credits to XDA crew).

Wow, thank u so much sinmae! Yeah, i know 'bout the bootloader stuff. I've several times flashed my pda, but only with the official release from hp.com. So never tried the self-cooked. I've read this forum too, but there's so many recommendation and way to upgrade, in which i don't know which one is the safest (and the right one of course). Beside that, do i need to have some official files from hp.com...? The point is : i want a systematic and safe-proven standard procedure. I'm using HP Ipaq hx2750 with wm2003SE.

Btw, sinmae, is it worthy a lot to upgrade from WM2003SE to WM6? :p
And Is it possible to downgrade to WM2003SE when (just in case) i have problems with WM6?

In My opinion 5.20.00H Eng from 4PDA.ru is better as 5.07.01/04 from PDAVIET. Using ROM from PDAVIET I had some problems with top and botton bar on today screen.... but it only my privat opinion :)
Speed of working in ROMs from this both sources was the same (calculation in GPS system and Video-Benchmark in TCPMP)

I've got a HX2490 which has WM5 installed on it. I've just downloaded the latest ROM from your Blog and am looking to upgrade to WM6 via your ROM when I get home tonight.

Just wanted to make sure I've got it right though. So I don't have to format my 2490 at all? Just put it into Boot Loader mode and then run your "hpRUU.exe" file?

Just done the same, as I'd heard nothing back I gave it a go.

Performed a "clean" reset first, then started the upgrade. Wondered what the crack was when it looked like it was stuck, just needed a hard reset to fire it up though :D

Hi everybody,

I am new but i have been reading a lot around here the past few days.
Just to make sure i wouldn't do anything wrong when flashing my device.

The info given here helped me a lot but didn't tell me exactly how to flash my device with german language.

I am just describing in the following steps what i did to get it working.

1 First i downloaded all the needed firmware. the original German rom sp32996(ver 10200h), English rom sp 33003(ver10200h), the English sp32408(ver 100000h) and the latest pdadeviet WM6.0_5.07.04_HP2000_B18533

2 I unpaked everything in different folders named after the filenames.

3 Put device in normal bootloader mode (further on called NBM contacts+mail+reset, let go and put device in cradle, then pres calender to start connection)

4 Use the hpRUU from sp32996 folder wait until upgrade screen appears, and then rename EPAKROM.nbf to EPAKROM.nbf.old. Then copy and paste the EPAKROM.nbf from the sp33003 folder to the sp32996 folder. after this you can pusch the update button. And wait. After upgrade is done my device automaticly performed a format.

5 Put diver in NBM

6 Use the hpRUU from the sp33003 folder, wait until update screen appears, and then rename the EPAKROM.nbf to EPAKROM.nbf.old. Then copy and paste the Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_5_WWE.nbf from the sp32408 folder to the sp3303 folder and rename it to EPAKROM.nbf, after this you can pres the update button and wail for a while. After finishing my device automatically started to format the device.

7 Now put device in White bootloder mode(contacts+itask+reset let go and when screen turns white you van put your device in the cradle and then push the calender button to start connection).

8 Use the hpRUU from the sp32408 folder, wait until update screen appears, and then rename the Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_5_WWE.nbf to Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_5_WWE.nbf.old. Then copy and paste the ???.nbf(i don't exactly know what it was called) from the WM6.0_5.07.04_HP2000_B18533 folder to the sp32408 folder and rename it to Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_5_WWE.nbf. After this you can press the update button, and wait for a long time. After finishing my device automatically started the format.

9 I did an extra format afterwards to make sure everything started from scratch.

This is how it worked for me, i hope that i helped someone wit this. But i am not responsible if anything goes wrong.

Now i can start finding bugs and try to fix them.

ps After finishing all this it may be wise to change all the names and files back to the originals.

to what i can tell is that i need to use a orignal WM2003 se that came with the windows mobile 5.0 upgrade. Does anyone now where to get one, or a software which can wipe this clean.

Thanks JarekG for your help, I have try all the rom version for the hp site from all the models on my hx 2750 to see if any will work. The 03 all pass the infomation gathering. the "sp29856" is for my model and it pass the infomation screen, but when i click on the update button to go from Rom v 5.20.00.H to 1.10.09 activesnyc shutdown and the rom update utility 2.02.011 give me a ERROR 608: could not initialize device :confused::confused: after it show the .1% progress bar. I have also try this downgrade roms http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1516882&postcount=66 . has any one try to downgrade their hx2750 after the upgrade and met with success. just try to downgrade.

All inputs are welcome. remember no inputs is a wrong inputs an less ur inputs is to put a hammer to it:D:D which still might be a good input if all input failed.

thanks for the reply and input you make and important point however; i did have the ac adapter pluged in but what was unusual to me anyway, was that the ac power warning light was not solid or infact on, but it was showing me that the ac was connected. i just found out that my firewall was also blocking it form fully syncing my ppc, so i shut it down but no change. still cutoff at the 0.1% i just did a hard reset too and a fulsync and the only differents was i saw "hello World" on my ppc and it was the FUU running it showing v1.00. strange i know

Thanks everyone for your help. i final got it to downgrade using the "WWE-hx2000_PPC03_downgrade.exe" in combination with activesnyc v3.6 (build 2148)
but i don't really think activesnyc did much since i use the BL/usb style :D:D:D.
I was so happy to see the progress bar jump to 2.0%. I nearly kick over everything. If I were u guys I would not get rid of your old ppc software just yet, burn them to a dvd. JUST IN CASE...

now to reinstall everything back.:(

Where is the latest version of WM 6.1 for iPAQ hx 2000 series?
Is it beta with bugs or full functional version?

I was using YurriX's rom (which is the wm 6.1 version) and it does okay. It's not an amazing rom but it's a good peak at things to come. It seems relatively stable, although as I said above it doesn't feel polished.

Please Note: (READ THE PLEASE NOTES! THEY ARE IMPORTANT)
Devices ending with .L (hx211x & hx241x) must be downgraded to .H before beginning wm6 upgrade process. Download both the 1.00.00.L and 1.00.00.H installers from the hp website. Use the .L installer to flash your device with the .H nbf (use the steps below, but substitute the .H nbf where the steps ask for the wm6) Continue to use the .L installer/flasher to perform your updates.. (the .h installer wont work for your device) So your sequence of upgrades will be: 1.00.00.L -> 1.00.00.H -> WM6

Please Note:
If you brick your pda DONT MESSAGE ME, try running a p.s. before you panic. Then if that doesn't work, put your device back into white boot loader mode and run the rom update utility that came WITH YOUR DEVICE. if you don't have it, download it, run it, and if needed perform a p.s. format on your device at the end. This will fix it. Trust me.

As promised: Here are the steps
-take out any cf/sd cards you might have installed. grab your cradle AND ac power cord (no AC cord = no flashing for you)
-put device into normal boot loader mode and downgrade to 1.0h w/files from hp website.
-format the p.s. (fyi everyone misses you have to HOLD DOWN the keys for p.s. format for like 4 or 5 seconds and THEN it will activate) After p.s. format wm5 will start.
(!! Start below this line if you are performing a wm6-4pda to wm6-pdaviet upgrade or vise versa !!)
-put device into WHITE boot loader mode and again run the 1.0h rom setup. When you arrive at the screen that asks "update" or "cancel",
1. rename the wm5.xxx.nbf to wm5.xxx.nbf.old
2. rename the new wm6.xx.nbf from the 4pda.rar/pdaviet file to whatever your wm5-wm5.xxxx.nbf was called (before you added the .old to it)
-NOW hit update. You shouldn't get any errors.
-After updated, wm6 wont start properly until you again format the p.s. (remember to hold down those keys to start) once this is done
-you should be golden.. with a working copy of wm6 on your wm5 deivce.

**FYI: With the 4pda update, I didn't LOSE any installed apps, data etc. I just installed all the wm6 versions of any apps I had over the wm5 vers. Very awesome!
** However when I performed the pdaviet rom update I DID. But its okay I needed to do this anyway (always good to start fresh with a new os install)

Boot loader Key Sequences (confirmed on 2490b, 2790b, msg me and ill add more if needed)

Normal Boot loader Mode:
contacts + mail + reset -let go and press calendar to activate

White Screen Boot loader Mode:
contacts + itask + reset -let go and press calendar to activate

Format P.S. (hold down until activated)(screen will say formating p.s. when activated):
contacts + messaging + power + reset
OR (I had to use this to format the p.s. after the PDAVIET rom upgrade)
calender + power + messaging + reset, release reset - release all

Guys, the entire thread became rather confusing... too many ROMs, too many models. Can anyone who's effectively managed to get a hx2790b upgraded to WM6 explain how can we achieve that please? (bearing in mind the title of the thread refers to hx2795, actually)

I use a 2495, which is basically the same as the 27xx series without the reader on it. go to page 7 and there is a great summary by copenhagen that basically shows the biggest contenders right now. im on the pdaviet version and I like it a lot. Let me know if you have any questions after reading the superpost

Thanks for the quick reply contradude. I am running Vista, I have tried XP before but there wasn't any success. Yes I am swapping the firmwares. I am running 1.02H WM5. Yes, I am using PDAviet rom. Here's the only problem, if I run it using whitescreen bootloader, hpRUU does not recognize my PDa so I don't even get to the upgrade screen. The same occurs for normal bootloader mode. But if I start up my PDA normally, hpRUU recognizes my PDa and I get to the upgrade screen and I press upgrade. hpRUU automatically reboots my PDA into normal bootloader, and USB connected turns into USB (which I guess is the same effect of pressing the calendar button - I do press it, but nothing changes) After some time, an error comes up which says "RUUClient.dll could not initialize device. This may not be the correct dll file for this iPAQ pocket pc or nbf file." To test out the nbf file, I used the original nbf file that came with the firmware upgrade as well and the same error occurs, so I am assuming the pdaviet rom does not cause this error. Thanks for helping me out.

I envy you actually typing up a post on your pda. You won't believe how many hours I have spent trying to upgrade to wm6 and that does not include time thinking about all the troubleshooting possiblities.

just covering my bases :) . are you using the latest version of activesync? I know that my 2495 will not be recognized by windows at all in white screen bootloader until I hit the calendar button. I have not gotten a WM6 upgrade to work without a successful white screen bootloader... :(

I'm going to keep trying to troubleshoot this until you can post from it too :p

edit: everyone seems to be having that problem on vista as far as I can see, where they correctly white BL and can't get anywhere with it... have you messed with chris's bootloader at all?

edit 2: which version of the hpruu are you using? are you using the one that updated you to 1.02? that's the one I used to get it to load...

edit 3 (enough edits for a post you think? lol): I think I may have found the ticket... here (http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=243984) is the link to chrismrulz' universal bootloader tool (that is supposedly superior to the hpruu...) and here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=301816) is what looks like a vista fix... chrism's tool seems to do the process killing that is mentioned in the vista drivers thread, so you wont have to do that.

I am running Vista which does not use activesync but windows mobile device center. My pc recongizes the pda (under all modes: normal, normal bootloader, and whitescreen bootloader) because under device manager HP USB Sync is listed as a device. So I am guessing that it is hpRUU that is not recognizing my PDA.
Also another difference between what you said: for me to get into white screen bootloader, I have to press contacts+itask+reset (the screen then turns white). You said calendar+mail+reset. I tried what you said and it didn't do anything (just booted up normally).
Other steps I tried with no success:
-connecting it directly to my pc at the back (I had it on a hub)
-connecting it to the front of my pc

I will try it using XP with the latest activesync as it seems you are using XP.

Ok I just got WM6 on my hx2495b after more than 6 months of reading, trying and failures.
The method I used is from post #369 from this thread (credit goes to 4stimpy). I followed it word by word and it worked successfully. Also I'd like to give a shout out to contradude for his time in troubleshooting and providing motivation for actually working on it today. Also thanks to everyone else on this thread for posting as that would have helped me as well.

I have been using the PDAViet and YurriX version for my HX2490b, the PDAViet one is the fastest and stable version I've had so far. Just out of curiosity I wanted to try WM 6.1, and Yurrix is the only one available. It is not perfect, and I would expect a new revision would be out soon.

Yurrix just produced a new RUS version, I guess the WWE is coming soon.

I did try the Yurrix version and had some problems. The messaging is not there and every time I put my device on it would go through WiFi and BT check.

Just a question though...how did you get the PDAViet ROM. I can't download from their site. I'm currently using the 4PDA version and it's good but I'm having problems with some of the applications that I created in C#.
I want to try the PDAViet version and see if the same problem.
They are working fine on WM5.

To be honest the version he last posted has been class, I've been using that since then and haven't had any problems since installing the wifi fix. Speed is good and not had it crash or reboot to date.

Question for someone though, as I'm new to flashing ROM's. I'll want to upgrade the YuRRiX ROM which I've currently got, with the one that will be released tomorrow. Can I just flash directly over my current version? Or do I need to mess about to downgrade first etc... ?

As of 12/23/07 there are 3 confirmed working roms for hx2*** series ipaqs. So far the pdaviet version(s), the newest in particular, is more stable, less activesync issues, preinstalled software ie: psshutxp and much more. (could use more feedback from others on this)

janam4u: you've got to follow the instructions very carefully otherwise this rom won't install. please read the first note in the superpost by copenhagen above. if you follow these instructions to the T, you will be set.

This is a known issue with upgrading hx2410/2415 series as there's already limited ROM in the device & the upgrade ROMs are the H-version not the L-version ROMs so the amount of Storage memory left after the upgrade is in the region of 10-14Mb.

upx can compress big files, but when you run file, you need more memory.

I used to use Yurrix's WM 6.1, but it gives quite a few issues. Until the next fix is out, I flashed my hx2490b back to this.

Instruction to flash, ensure ActiveSync (XP) is installed, cradle, AC power is plugged in.

1) Hard-reset the unit (hold Power + Mail + Calendar, then RESET), you should see formating P.S. on the screen after.
2) Download SP32408.exe (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=421399&swItem=PSG_I23485-108601&mode=4&idx=1) from HP
3) Extract SP32408.exe to a folder. Make note of the nbf file name (Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_5_WWE.nbf).
4) Copy nk.nbf in WM6.0_5.07.04_HP2000_B18533.rar to the SP32408 folder you just extracted. Keep the folder open for later step.
5) Boot the unit to white bootloader (contacts + itask + reset -let go and press calendar)

I used to use Yurrix's WM 6.1, but it gives quite a few issues. Until the next fix is out, I flashed my hx2490b back to this.

Instruction to flash, ensure ActiveSync (XP) is installed, cradle, AC power is plugged in.

1) Hard-reset the unit (hold Power + Mail + Calendar, then RESET), you should see formating P.S. on the screen after.
2) Download SP32408.exe (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=421399&swItem=PSG_I23485-108601&mode=4&idx=1) from HP
3) Extract SP32408.exe to a folder. Make note of the nbf file name (Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_5_WWE.nbf).
4) Copy nk.nbf in WM6.0_5.07.04_HP2000_B18533.rar to the SP32408 folder you just extracted. Keep the folder open for later step.
5) Boot the unit to white bootloader (contacts + itask + reset -let go and press calendar)

Thanks for whoiswho for providing the list of problems with PDAViet's release. I never use the features mentioned, therefore I neglected to know.

One problem I have with Yurrix's on my hx2490b is the speed and response time. My PDA will flash blue light randomly when the unit is off. It will freeze when I press the On button two times in a short succession (it freezes when it tries to suspend).

Hi, All. My first time on here. I decided to upgrade my Hx2490b 1.02.00.h to wm6 and disaster has struck!! Best I can get out of it now is white bootloader. I have tried to downgrade again using hpruu 2.02.013 but get wrong rom report. I've tried p.s format steps and get no response. I've now removed the battery till my next attempt. Is there anyway back??

hi people, I have a little time now to answer all questions but -

-all versions is in English (WWE) - in order to use punctuation (we have some specific characters like ľščťžýáíéúäôň - I use Resco Keyboard, so there is not necesary to translate whole ROM, Resco keyboard do the trick

-yurix 6.1 have NO working messaging (I do not need that so I dont care)

-in yourrix 6.1 I have personally no problem with wifi or so. I used sprite backup ROM restore function (restore on different ROM/Device like backup was created) so all my programs and data has been restored and for me, everything working correctly (and IMHO a bit faster like in 6.0)

-I will check the rapidshare link tomorrow, sorry have no free time right now

-kitchen is not so complicated to use, yurrix already made a manual how to use it, but it is only in russian, so use a translator (like babelfish or so) - ftp://82.209.223.77/kitchen/hx2000/kitchenv2.pdf

-in his kitchen is a directory tools, and in there few utilz you can find on all this forum in other kitchens, one is nice, it is called "OEMizer.exe", try it ;)

-it this specific kitchen is unpacked 6.1 ROM from yurrix, so you can just run build os, press the green button and thats it. after few minutes you have a newly created ROM and you can flash it. or you can delete/add some of your personal application to directory called OEM. but you need to know, how to create two files for each added content - e.g. 224233c9-ca96-4c11-8398-8bbe0216817d.dsm and 224233c9-ca96-4c11-8398-8bbe0216817d.rgu. check wiki, there is a lot information in here, how to cook.

and as usually I want to thank to yurrix who actually did a lot of work in here. so if you like his work, sent a few bucks to him ;-)

I then switched to PreBL mode to upload the WM5 ROM using 29795 HPRUU.exe and swaping the rom (SP32408_WM5En : Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_5_WWE.nbf)  ==> PDA bricked

output from cimetery : switch to PreBL mode (itask + contact + reset) then load HPRUU.exe 1.00.14 En (29795) ==> still alive !!!

and finally went back to my previous state 1.0014en ==> 1.10.09En ==> 1.10.01fr

Nice trip, but a bit frustating ...

I found, there is some wrong files (pimapi.dll, pimg.exe, pimgres.dll, pimstole.dll, poutlook.exe, tmail.exe) in SYS\BaseApps and tmailutil.dll from folder SYS\Redist\, so now MS Outlook works correctly. I found good working files in wm6 sdk, so I dumped them.

it works but I changed tool for enabling them. I don't like WrlsMgr. I changed it to HPWireless (iPAQ Wireless). It's on today panel. The white icon in right lower corner.

I tried to upgrade to WM6 from WM5 1.02.00h with a ROM flash which went smoothly enough but now nothing- best I can get it to do is white bootloader screen. It won't do a P.S reset and is completely unresponsive. I've tried to reflash but all I get is wrong ROM from HPRUU. Help......please:(

I found one bug with ActiveSync (creating partnership with MS Exchange server). I fixed it, but now I'm in a hurry. A will upload new rom tonight.

Hi Folks, I´m new in this forum.
I´m have flashed my pda with several wm6 and wm6.1 from pdaviet to yurrix but always have an issue with all wm6 that i have tested.
When i used spacetime 3.0 calculater it shuts suddenly, the same happens with uBook for reading ebooks, and never happen with wm2003 ors wm5 from hp or wm5 for misar/kushura, why is this happening? I need to use spacetime for complex calculation and like to read ebooks so I have to downgrade tu kozhura´s wm5 aku 3.52 but really like the speed an reliability of wm6.

In Your last Rom is SRS implemented. I dont use it becouse I like to hear orginal sound. But there is problem. If I swich OF SRS, level of sound in more, more lower then in orginal Windows Mobile (eg 5.0 or 6.0). It's make me problem becouse I can't hear alarms!
tommy_adsl - is there possibility to remove srs from this ROM and/or make level of sound higher (to be such as in orginal WM5.0 or WM 6.0) ???

But i too get problems with rom. i can't get the rom upgrading.

I have a hx2410 with the PDAVIET rom:

Rom Date: 30/11/07
Rom Version: 5.07.04H
Bootstrap version: 1.00.05
Bootloader version: 5.20.00.H


After i set the ipaq in the pre-BL mode, i see then on the screen the following: Pre-BL: 1.00.02

Then you said that i have to start the hpruu.exe. when i do that and click on next i get this: Error 503: Active Sync Error

i followed the instructions that are on page 47 of this topic. I dont know what i doing wrong.

can somebody help me. When i run the hpruu.exe when the ipaq is in 'normal' mode i get the screen where i do get information about the rom etc. But after i click on upgrade i get this: First the ipaq reboots, thats normal then it goes in too eboot mode (version 5.20.00H) then nothing happens. it stays updating on 0.1% even after 10 minutes. on the screen of the pda only thing i see is in the left corner USB.

i hope that someone can help me.

This will be not a problem
Upgrade to WM6
1) take PDA to PRE-BL mode (contact+itask+power and then reset after unhold this buttons push calendar)
2) run hpRUU.exe flash utility
3) take PDA to FORMAT PS mode (calendar + messaging+power and then reset and hold these buttons, first unhold the reset(after 2 seconds) and then the remaining buttons)
4) that's all


Downgrade to WM5 from WM6

(if this will not working, you will have to downgrade to wm2003 first (no graphics driver support - so don't panic :) and wait for connection with your pc, you will hear a beep from your pda ), after that upgrade to wm5 1.000 and after that to wm5 1.02)(in 1.00 has hx2790b little memory aprox 180MB - I don't remember :) ) I tried it and it's working ....)

I read that, but now I don't have any idea to fix that.
I charg via external charger and I didn't see any problem with my iPAQ
