I was just curious about something. Would it be possible for me to flash my i-mate JASJAM with the FW of an HTC TyTn or Dopod 838Pro? After all they are all Hermes PPC's right? Or is that not how it works?
Main reason's that I wanna "upgrade" to an official (not home-made/cooked) WM6 but i-mate haven't released one yet, doesn't look like they're gonna any time soon, and i'm sick of waiting.
Thanks.

I flashed my JasJam with Schap's 3.60 and then added the telstra roms back in (They're here in the forum somewhere). Because the phone has a 4 second+ delay sometimes in waking up, I configured my "autoforward to voicemail on busy" to be 25 seconds instead of the default 15 so that I wouldn't miss calls. Got a bunch of other stuff in it and it's mostly stable. Still forum-foraging for tips and tweaks to make it solid, but I can live with it's quirks.

This thing is, I wanted to run Skype off my JasJam, but apparently it's not available for JasJam's but it is available for the Dopod 838Pro. Both being Hermes PPC's I just got it, so when i downloaded and installed it, it installed and ran fine until i tried to make a call and that was when it just crashed. Now Skype is an application, so i was willing to take the risk, but with firmware, i'm not too comfortable being that experiemental. Plus, despite my technical background, when it comes to PPC's i am quite a newbie, so any comments are welcome.

if u want, u can flash any rom, but follow ALL instructions, read lots n lots, and take responsibility for your own actions or in action as the case amybe.
I have jasjam, ran a variety of cooked, ran htc dopod 838pro, and now using TNT 2.
HTC 838pro was most stable n best, but not fastest nor most functional.

Correct if im wrong, but u must be superCID or CID unlocked to flash ANY rom. Otherwise u can only flash ones for your carrier (i.e. at&t).
In this case just install Hardspl v7 and you'll be superCID and ready to go.

All of this is sort of true:
1. You do not have to be SuperCID if you use Olipro's Custom RUUWrapper. It bypasses CID check.
2 BUT, most importantly, if running Skype is all that you really want to do, your problem is not with the phone ROM, it is with the Skype version. It is a known problem. You need to run an older beta for it to work. Get version 2.2.0.20 and it should work. Seach around this forum, it is in here somewhere - that is how I got it.
