View Full Version : Help I can't turn on ATOM after ROM UPDATE !! :(

yesterday I tried to update the ROM to a new one - WM6 .
I copy into my mini SD the file diskimage_ver.nb0 and I renamed it into diskimg.nb0, after the update my device turned off and I couldn't turn it on.
I pressed the camera button and soft reset so that the bootloader will boot and the PDA turned on! and bootloader appear - but I forgot to copy into the sd card the original ROM so I restart again and I copy to the mini sd card the original ROM files and I pressed the camera button and soft reset to get the bootloader again but the PDA not responding...
(When I connect the PDA to electricity the red light works and when I remove the battery and insert it again the call button and hang up buttons work (green and red light) for 1 second).
Please help me I dont know what to do :(

Be paient:
1) take out battery & SIM for a while...5 min is enough.
2) remove SD card( a must )
3) put battery back
4) press the camera button with the "POWER" button.
5) check if boot loader boots.
6) if yes, re-flash your phone with running the update Flash program in Windows environment connected with a USB cable.

I had the same problem yesterday and fixed it.

To get back to the bootloader, do this exactly in chronological order:
1. remove SD Card
2. remove battery
3. hold camera button and reset (stylus) button (without the battery attached)
4. replace battery back while still holding the buttons
This will bring you back to bootloader mode.

When you get into the bootloader,
1. Plug the device to your desktop via usb.
2. Make sure that the Notification area in your desktop at least detects a device. if not, try and try until it does.
3. Download Xda-AtomExec-ENG-20060614_R060428N_EX0028.exe (ancient basic rom for my exec) but in your case, because you have an Atom only, get the one for Atom(not exec) i think this is it http://rapidshare.com/files/40346284/Xda-Atom-ENG-20060426-MOT0822.exe .
4. flash it the usual way.
5. Usualy gets stuck at 6% at the extended ROM upgrade, dont mind it, hard reset it,
6. Enter the bootloader again.
7. Flash your original ROM.

I'm having the same exact problem. The bootloader is just not coming back up after the camera and reset [it did before but I was trying to downgrade the hack atom exec on my atom pure so the wm6 install utility would work]. I figure I would let my atom sit without the battery for a while with battery out to see if I can get the backup battery to drain down before I try it again. Anyone else have this problem that has a solution??

You are not suppose to rename diskimage_ver.nb0 into diskimg.nb0  without altering the file. That's why they have different names to start with.

The files that came with normal DSUU OS mode flashing have header identifier while the files for SD Card flash do not. It is assumed that you know what you are doing during SD Card flashing, that's why there is no manual or instructions to do it. bootloader mode was meant for device service personnel use only. We use it to hack the ROM. :D

DO THE FOLLOWING:

1. remove the battery for one minute
2. insert the battery while observing the LED
3. if LED blinks once, your bootloader is okay
4. do as dcoloane says to the detail

IF LED doesn't blink, sorry mate, you toast your device. It's now a paper weight.

Its really strange. When I insert the battery, the orange LED will blink once really quick and charging seems to work also. But when I try to get it into bootloader mode, it just doesnt do anything. This atom pure is my back up phone [have a atom life also] so I guess I will let the battery completely drain out of it before I will try again~_~. As for the renaming, I did the same thing as the atom just couldnt recognize the file and update the rom if you didnt rename it [yeah, yeah.. I"m a noob - the problem isnt upgrading the rom which I have done many time, its the downgrading of the hack atom exec rom on my original atom that screw me up as I couldnt upgrade the wm6 due to the install file wont work as it think its a atom exec instead of the atom pure~_~]

Maybe you have to remove battery for a night to make sure it is dried out.

yeah, just going to wait for my backup battery to run out of juice before I try again. Either that or send it in for the $150 repair~_~.

It's not how long you take out the battery or the amount of battery power. It's how quick you press the bootloader mode buttons after replacing the battery. It has to be immediate; otherwise, it won't work. You also have to hold the button simultaneously for a second.

did that already. It work previously so I know I can get into bootloader. It only stop working after the flashing. Where exactly do you send it in for repair anyway?? Anyone has a tele or address as when I bought it it didnt come with a box or manual.

Guys! I have a same problem. I've successfuly updated my O2 Atom ROM to NEW XDA ATOM WM6 AKU0.3.0 WWE. Than I tryed to restore from SPBbackup some contacts, my PDA asked for reboot... And now it doesn't turn on. Just red LED blinks when I'm connecting/disconnecting battery.
Have anyone fixed that problem?

If you restore from SPB full backup, this will overwrite system files and render your device useless.

Is there any way for me to overwrite ROM? Or just to put my O2 Atom into a boot-loader mode?

If you just want to restore contacts, appoints, messages, etc. just use PIMBACKUP by dotFred. It's OS version independent.
