rom is legit, i checked it out and flashed it... man this thing is really f'ing bloated.... still has a memory leak, but is stable...

also if you check the history of the OP you will notice they only post roms... so chances are its probably not a n00b at all...

Shogunmark, is it any better then the other Official AT&T release.

Is this the same Radio ROM 1.48.00.0 that is posted to the Wiki (not sure if radios have build numbers different than the 1,48.XX.X)? I have been running 1.50 but signal strength is not that great and I may want to try 1.48 since AT&T apparently thinks it is the best Radio to use (I assume). If so, I will use the in the Wiki. If not, could someone extract it? Thanks.

Shogunmark, is it any better then the other Official AT&T release.

well, there was a lot of stability issues fixed... it does seem better, the memory leak isnt as bad but still present... and other than really bloated its ok.. This would probably be really good if it were stripped down (hint hint vp3g)...

and yes, should be the same radio...

I hear an echo Shogunmark " if this New AT&T Rom was stripped down and re-built" VP3G?

Hello, My 8525 is VERY slow to respond. I have hard reset it. Also, I upgraded to the newest AT&T supported ROM (it was bought when it first came out, and had issues). I am still having problems, it is under warranty, should I just send it back or should I upgrade to the WM6 and see if that fixes the problems? Also, can I downgrade if it doesn't fix the problems?

Current specs:

ROM Version: 2.15.502.3
ROM Date: 04/09/07
Radion Version: 1.40.30.00
Protocal Version: 32.73.7020.16H

Thank you for your help

Yes, you can. Full instructions are HERE (http://www.mrvanx.org). Just check for the downgrade guide.

Personally, I would flash it up with some cool ROMs (guides for that are at that sire also). Then, if I had issues, I would put it back to normal and ship it back to them, but I am betting that better ROMs will fix your issue.

Couple of questions to those who have tested it:

Does startup animation work?

Does the IE browser bog down when scrolling through the forum list?

Use same as last animation with rushing sound.
Did not see any bogging down of scrolling in IE.

So far seems okay with a lot of bloat as others have said.

For me I wanted to get my radio back to somewhat normal. I had tried all radio versions and started having too many dropped calls on a regular basis. So far this is stable in that regards. It will take a couple of days of use before I can report on overall stability.

bug fixes... there was a rom in between this one and the last one that incognitho never posted and it had even more fixes... so alot of the issues people were experiencing should be about fixed....

Been using since it was posted, seems very stable, this radio 1.48 seems to bounce around where I live with the Edge and 3G network more so than 1.50 did, will upgrade back to 1.50 tomorrow and see how she does.
All else seems to work well though.

Oh yeah, they aren't kidding when they say there is a lot of bloat, at least 20meg worth.

has anyone plugged in a SDHC card yet?

ddevling
18th September 2007, 03:24 PM
I also have used since came out. I have 4 gig sd card which works well. I was having what I believed was radio issues in that prior to this rom, no matter which radio I used, when the 3G signal got low the radio would drop all signal and then latch on to Edge. If a call came in with low 3G signal, or I was on a call, it would drop. This became very common place. I tried several roms and all radios. So far this new rom and radio have been stable. I left the radio and tried different ROMS and experienced the drop call syndrome again so have stuck with this bloated rom.
Which I could get rid of the PTT and use the 5th button for other apps.

I integrated this new version with Pandora 5.5b. It really is the most stabile ROM I ever had. No freeze since 2 days, less memory leaks, more responsive.

I have no wishes anymore... (till I see another new version, hi).

How did you integrate. I tried to figure out how to strip apart and it is way above my expertise level (novice). Did you disable PTT and re use button 5?

DanWell, in short: I left all of Pandora in the OEM and SYS folders and from the common files between Pandora and ROM 3.61 I took the files from 3.61 ROM. But not all the rgu's because some are modified by Pandora.
The ROM folder I took from 3.61.

That's about it, but I compared folder by folder so lot of work.

I use a 4 Mb pagepool and my total Storage is 55,72 (about 35 free) and Programs is 50,77 (about 29,5 Mb free). I didn't use the merging of extended ROM because I'm happy with this separated ROM which remains intact after hardreset.
The only unwanted program I still have is Windows update, but I'll find a way to remove that also...

I'm using this ROM and I have been able to send TEXT messages during a phone call using both the hard and soft keyboards.
To make sure it's the same ROM:

ROM 3.61.502.1
DATE 08/20/2007
Radio 1.48.00.00
Protocol 32.81.7020.20H

CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)

While talking,I clicked on contacts from Phone APP, (I've also gone to today screen and selected contacts from there) then select a contact and select text message. I am definately getting normal keyboard behavior. I only get numbers if I hit the "blue dot" otherwise I get text during the phone call.

I've also tried it by hitting the "Messaging" button and going into text messages.

Could somebody please post the version number of the HTC Stream Player inside this ROM.
The installable RvBCrS_HTC_Streaming_Media.cab (downloadable in Addon-Packs) doesn't work properly with RTSP streams. Doesn't open. Maybe this newest one works well and hopefully supports H264 AVC codec. Then we could extract it and make a new cab.

I think I'll wait for vp3G to tweak this as well..! :)

If you guys switch roms so often (to test everytime a new one is released/cooked) do you install all your apps everytime or just run the rom clean to test stability? I've been just running clean, but I'm about ready to settle down on a rom and install all my apps..

I already did ebay my personal one and I am using a BlackJack for now, but I came upon a Sealed Refurb with WM5 Cingular for cheap so Oct 1 when I get back from my business trip I will unlock, flash WM6 and ebay it to get some more cash toward my Kaiser.
