Hi can win mobile to be replaced with docs to go
Hi
one of the things that I want to know
I have purchased a legal version of Dataviz documents to go for WM smartphone
Can somebody assist me to cut out of rom the windows mobile s**t and put docs to go in its place ???
Regards
window's office suit is cooked in. best thing would be to go to windows/start menu and remove office mobile that way u dont have the shortcuts and add office to go. u can also find what exes are involved with office and remove those but its not like its gonna save any space. the device is partioned so eather u use the space or loose it.

try going into reg edit and doing the reg edit by hand. its in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Today/Items/HTC Home "Order"=whatever u like it to be.
@PK and ITXDA
Thanks for your prompt responses. I'll try this and get back to you.
The ROM is great, as is your support.....much better than the paid "support" that we subscribe to with many organisations. This is especially commendable, seeing that the majority of us are non-paying customers....

I also have the battery draining issue and I have not had it with any previous WM6. I don't have any Ameo. I have an HTC Advantage X7500.
I am also going with the theory that HTC Kaiser plugin is causing this issue. It is only theory for me right now because I am still testing it. However, the battery life seems to be much better without the Kaiser running.
This theory makes sense because Kaiser plugin was the only thing I have not tried with any previously WM6 ROM for the Athena including the base ROM for this ROM. PK version 1 did not have this issue and the base ROM is the same.

How big a chang? I thought you were all happy with this one and just doing bug fixes by .cab! Much as I love these ROM's just as I get my phone all sorted after the last flash it seems we're onto the next... FYI this time all I'm running is the SBSH trilogy and some well chosen games so no biggy but it takes a while to assign all the shortcuts and icons in iLauncher plus hook upto works Exchange.
Thanks for all your hard work it is much appreciated btw
The release of the next ROM won't be any time soon. I hate redoing my device as much as the next guy. BTW, I'm going to try out a product by Teksoft, the guys who donated their keyboard to the project, called AirWizard. Unless I read it wrong, this program can put all of the software you install into one CAB and save us tons of time during a device flash. If anyone has tried this before, your feedback would be greatly appreciated. AND...in case anyone is wondering..i have no affiliation to Teksoft. Just a lover of their product is all.

ITXDA -
I have been running WM6 on a 7500 for over 10 weeks now. I ran the PK 1.0 when it first came out. The 1st time that I have had issues with the battery was yesterday after PK 2.0. I gotta think that WM6 is not the culprit nor is it the hardware(device or battery). Something is using the battery and the only thing that I am aware of that sucks battery life fast is GPS - which I have not enabled or constant edge connections.
I am not going to bash anyone, but I really find it hard to believe that its an interoperability issue with WM6 and my battery(ies).
btw, batti is now reporting that my battery is 109.9 C. Which in theory would be much too hot for any non-super hero human to handle. But it is cool to the touch. This means that i am either super hero human or my batter is not 109.9 C. I also believe it is not even 109.9F.
I have also noticed that the weather icon is continually trying to update. Wonder if this is the issue....
Mine had the same issue and after a cycle or two the battery returned to normal use. Others have also said to let the battery drain all the way then recharge and this also resolves the issue. Give this a try and report back if you don't mind.
I'm not sure what batti does to pull the temp. Have you checked the batti site to see if anyone has reported such an issue? We'll look into this. PK and Mackaby007 have been keeping up with the bug list and getting ready to tackle it. We've all been trying to take a break since the ROMs release since we spent sooooo many hours on the project. It's crazy once we looked back at how much time was spent ;-)
Between Mackaby007 and I coordinating the effort, PK cooking the ROM, testing and researching...it's taken a lot of energy.

Just thought I'd post a quick reminder to everyone that I believe we MUST have a fully charged battery before re-flashing any rom otherwise your charge status will be wrong or incorrectly calibrated?
On the x7501 I have noticed a fast overnight drain if Leaving Fizz Traveller on downloading weather, currencies etc...

shantz today changer first of all has problems so we made it a addon instead...
What were the problems with the Shantz today changer? So far on WM6 (I am using the x7501 like Steve) this is the only theme switcher that seems to work reliably!

I have just noticed that the HTC Home skin included with the ROM seems to have a minor problem that I can't seem to resolve.
When I am notified of a new email and hit the email envelope in HTC Home (which shows the number of unread messages), it opens the MMS folder in Pocket Outlook rather than the email inbox.
Is there a solution to this quirk?
this is a known issue of the today screen
if you set up a new email account it will use that instead...
unfortunately if you are synced to an exchange i dnt know how to set that as your default ...

Well, my Ameo woke me up early this morning with the low battery warning, despite being fully charged when I went to bed.
I am running the HTC Home plugin, however I was also using that on the 1.0 ROM, and I had no battery problems with that one.
I'll see how long the battery lasts today, I've now run through 4 complete charge/discharge cycles since installing 2.0.

I'm using this rom aswell. I'm running it on an Ameo and I have no issue with the battery. Yeah... it runs down faster than the original T-mobile rom, but watching video of the harddrive for an hour and continuous UMTS connection just costs me 10% of my battery.

on my part i started encountering this battery issue after i run the program RealVGA. just playing around with the settings cost me from 100% full charge went down to 80%. that is why i hard reset my x7500 and settled for the default resolution, still monitoring it though.

Have been running my Ameo since about 7am (when it was fully charged, having fully discharged last night). Using RealVGA at 96dpi, Direct Push, screen set to lowest setting with backlight on and set to turn backlight off after 30s and turn unit off after 2mins.
It's now 11.23. Battery is down to 60%. Looks like it is not a "recalibration" issue!

Have been running the V1 Rom for a while, and have now upgraded to the V2 Rom. It's an excellent and very fast Rom.
What I have also done is installed the Blackberry Connect V4 software on it. This works fine, but the only problem I have is when disconnecting from the Blackberry APN and trying to connect to the Internet APN, the whole device freezes. Anyone got any ideas as to hy this would be?

I will suggest in the next release to remove HTC Xbutton (even the 2.0 release, found in Hermes area is a big application in terms of memory and resource usage) and substitute il with pBar.
Single tap for BT ON, OFF or Discoverable, Flight mode on off, wifi on/off, battery and resources info, taskman, favorites, customize time icon to have time/date or battery or memory in the start bar in any appz.
Small and fast. I've associated with commmanager button

The new keyboard offers approx 5 different choices
See attached examples..First two are new keyboard, third is normal one and fourth is resco keyboard pro..

Fingertouch should have been on the device by default.
If you don't see it on there...let me ask this...what wallpaper did you see once you flashed? This is important because while I was testing, ONE time the customizer failed to run because of something I did on my SD card and I didn't have Fingertouch, the theme, and a couple other customizations.

Lets give the battery issue a little more time to see how it works out. Some users have reported that the problem resolved itself like we anticipated and others are still having the issue.

Certainly not you.:) This has all been produced absolutely free of charge to the community with donations taken to raise money for the developers...that's all.
Have you contributed financially? or perhaps here in the forum somehow?
What gives??!!?? Everyone but you it seems! Joined July 2007 and expecting something from the community? Never expect from anyone who freely gives.;)
We've worked very hard to give the rest of our fellow members and Athena owners something that wasn't happening before.
With the support from the community and dedicated hard work from the Athena Project Team members, we have delivered what we set out to....free Unlocking tool via Olipro and 1 cooked ROM [you actually ended up with 3!].
So if you would like us to continue giving up 40 odd hours a week and more for you, so you can just lie back and wait for the goods, at least have the decency to be at least respectful, else do the job better yourself.
Have a nice day.:)

The wall-paper was the branded X-Black one. I manually ran the un-brander from the add-ons rar.

Mackaby007, you are a gentleman indeed. What a polite response to such an impertinent message by Mr. Copperwave. Those of us who have contributed (including myself) have done so to support the good work that is being done. I count it a bargain for what I have received to date. And I don't even mind the freeloaders who choose not to contribute. But then for a freeloader to complain? My oh my. That does rankle just a little. "Give me something for nothing AND HURRY UP ABOUT IT!" Hmm.

Have you allowed the device to totally drain, to the extent where it is power dead, or have you charged it up at minimum??
Other posts have suggested that it needs to be totally dead, and charged up fully. Tried leaving it off, charging it till the power goes "Green" then turning it on and trying???

Well put! However, wpmike you might also want to read the Athena Project Black Touch Edition by PK v1.....
While I can appreciate the irritation that X7500 users have about us X7501 users asking questions about whether this works on the X7501, I do think that it would make things much clear if a few things were done that would avoid these questions coming up again and again.
For example:
1. Title of Thread
If the title of the thread included the words 'For the X7500 Only' in it this would make it clear from the getgo wouldn't it?
2. First Post in Thread
If the first post in threads like this noted what device this works on or what the status is on the X7501, this would clue us in right away and avoid some questions, right?
So, again, do appreciate how the X7500 users here feel about questions and I'm trying to do my homework before I ask questions, but I do think a few simple inclusions of info on the X7501 status in the right places would go a long ways in avoiding this kind of thing from happening.
Go easy on me please as I have contributed to the cause... ;)
Also, for the X7501 users out there, if you read the thread regarding using the unlocker app in the General forum section (I think), you'll see that there's a major problem (as in making your device a handsome paperweight...) if you try and use the current app. Olipro is trying to get into a X7501 remotely to determine what the differences between the X7500 and X7501 are such that it causes a problem using the unlocker app. Once he determines this, he hopefully will be able to fix the app to work on the X7501 and then we should be able to use the cooked ROM's....hopefully, I've reported this correctly...
One more thing, maybe a X7501 Cooked ROM thread in this section with status on this issue would head off these questions from the start as us X7501 users would have one place to look for info on this issue?
Just tryin' to be constructive and minimize X7500 user irritation level....

Well everything was going well last night, listened to music surffed the net. when I woke up this morning battery was down to 40% and my wifi problem was back, when turning off the power and then back on, it remained connected to my router. then today, I was trying to send an email to my boss, but everything kept on messing up, when I went to change somthing then pressing ok, messaging kept on shutting down. in the end I had enough of it and did a hard reset. now back in the house and everything seems to be in order this time.

Just tryin' to be constructive and minimize X7500 user irritation level....

You bring up some interesting points which lead me to some ideas. I'm not going to say what now but I'm also reading between the lines here...even if that's not what you intended. Your feedback and point of view is appreciated. I think it just woke me up to something that I need to discuss with the core team. Thanks again!

I guess a soft reset didn't help so you were forced to do a hard reset?
I had a similar problem with an official WM5 release on my athena a while back. Man was it annoying. POutlook wasn't working, pulling anything down, sending, kept closing out, etc. I had to hard reset also and I've never had the problem since. Never found out what caused it.

I suppose it could be like installing any operating system, sometimes you just get a bad install. Just format and start again.

On behalf of the core team, I want to extend a thank you to the "extended" team....YOU!
The user base for this forum has been great. You guys have pitched in to help by providing links to other software that we could possibly add, by answering repeat and NEW questions, by testing yourselves, by being patient with us, and on and on.
Pat yourselves on the back as our extended Athena Project team members. You guys have been an invaluable resource. Not only by providing the financial backing to get the developers their devices but also for supporting our founder Mackaby007 in achieving this tremendous goal. He kicked us off and everyone delivered! Thanks Mackaby007 for your vision and getting us all in line to make this happen! Thank you to the rest for your support of this project.
WE HAVE THE BEST ROM EVER!!!! YEA BABY!!! This is the ROM made possibly by the user for the user. Yea it's corny but 100000% true!

Yea, I guess. Or maybe through one of the numerous soft resets it became corrupt. Lets hope it doesn't happen again because I can't be without e-mail. Luckily I have all CABs for EVERY program I use on my SD card so I can hard reset in the field and get back to normal.

Quick bit of info on the batt drain.
UK T-mob Ameo, Installed a few of the addons including the touch today screen and had it drain real quick on first few charges. Changed the batti config to shutdown at 1% power and let it go all the way down till it flashes red and turns itself off. Took the batt out for a few moments and stuck it back in. Re-charged until it went green without turning the unit on. Got it back up and running and now its been on for the last 3 hours and still 100% battery. Bloody great :)
Peeps with similar setups might be worth trying that.

Ok, after using the pk2 ROM since day 1, the only problems I've come accross is that the Activesync connection seems to die at random times
and the Sync process is very slow. What used to sync in 10 seconds now takes 1-2 minutes. It also tends to die if I copy large or lots of files to the device (SD/MD) via the activesync explorer.

Great info and makes sense. If Batti wasn't allowing the full drain then that negates the entire process.

I know you have all been working really hard, but just wondered if there are any updates to the issue with media player now working in 128 DPI?
It's not a major problem as I can just switch back to 192DPI when I need to use it, but would be a bonus if I could use it without switching
Keep up the good work

Try letting it drain to death, then full charge whilst still off and no use... If you're using it, and this is a battery capacity feature, you're not allowing it to do it's stuff... 1 day without won't do any harm :-)

Have you allowed the device to totally drain, to the extent where it is power dead, or have you charged it up at minimum??
Other posts have suggested that it needs to be totally dead, and charged up fully. Tried leaving it off, charging it till the power goes "Green" then turning it on and trying???
Note that Batti (installed in the ROM) turns off at 5%. That being said, I'm getting much better life today! After 9 hours I'm still at 50%. I even streamed some audio for 90 minutes. Yesterday I was dry (5%) in less time than this. I'm hoping this is a winner!

Have you let the library in media player update itself in 192dpi?
I think this is what's causing the problems, after several attempts to get the prog working in 128 I let it search and fill the library in 192, and now it works flawlessly in 128dpi.

I have some problem but it doesn't appears if you go to BBsetting and stop the service.

Hi all. This is not so much a contribution from me, but an important announcement as far as the Athena Project is concerned.
What started as an idea and was put to my fellow members has resulted in a great team of like minded individuals who are trying and with a good deal of success are, with help from the community, taking the development of the Athena to higher grounds.
I'll make this short peeps hehe I always write essays LoL.
Anyway, I will stay involved in the project to help where I can with testing etc and ideas and so on, but the team needs a knowledgeable and strong leader to keep the development going.
I asked ltxda from the get go to help me coordinate this project, to which he agreed and I must say, if it were not for him primarily and of course boinger66, Olipro, PK and the new additions to the team i.e. Cmonex, Hirad and hdbueller and others from the community who constantly help, we would still be on stock WM6 ROMs. Midget unfortunately didn't fulfill his role as expected, but he did have unexpected problems that caused him to not have the time to develop to his best ability. We thank him nonetheless for all the contributions he has made.
Bottom line? ltxda is the best man to lead this project IMHO and has the full respect of each team member, especially mine. He has been the single greatest driving force of this project and continually strives for improvement and further development.
Believe me friends, with ltxda at the helm, this project will go to places no single other PPC device has gone to date. Why do I think so?
Because he actually cares about what the community wants and listens to what you have to say. I'm not going to sing his praises all day LoL, but he has steered the project thus far and is extremely resourceful and forward thinking...clever guy.
Thanks for your support and loyalty ltxda. I appreciate all you have done..you da man.
And thank you PK, for your dedication even before you knew you were getting an Athena...you deserve it bro.;) boinger66....you've been a part of this from day one and have been invaluable with your wealth of knowledge and support (given how busy you are) and sorry for anyone elae I may have missed.
Most important of all, are you guys and gals in the community or fellow owners simply visiting and supporting this venture. If it were not for you all, I think I would have got bored of my Athena as I see all this development for QVGA devices and nothing for us.:(
Now we're in the thick of it. Great!!
Gonna be tied up for a while, but will always be a involved and a part of this great community based project.

Indeed, many thanks to Mackaby007 and all involved. An excellent job all round.
I found a useful website - http://say.expressivo.com/jennifer/ - simple text to speech, and you can save an mp3 of your text.
I've attached a set of event notifications for use with Batti, you can assign them in Batti config.
Edit - OK, that seemed like a good idea, but I can't get Batti config to 'see' the files, either as mp3s or wma files. Anyone know where the files should be placed to get Batti to see them?

Better than Shantz or anything else so far for WM6 & it works beautifully on my x7501 using Activesync 4.5.
Themesync adds a conduit to Activesync. You just configure the directory on your PC containing the themes & voila everytime you sync you get a new theme.

The easiest way is using Resco Explorer or similar. Then "Open With" over a mp3 file, select HTC Audio manager y check "Open always".... (las you do in Windows XP/Vista)
I ve hard resetted (after backup). Then, in 192dpi I ve opened Windows Media player several times. Then switched to 96dpi, opened WMP and hanged again....So I ve restored my backup and, by now, I wont use WMP.

i will get someone to look at the device id before and after and will look into how to change it back. it should be same as 1.0 and dopod rom but coming from wm5 its expected device id would change.
Many thanks for looking into this. Just for info I did some flashing myself and found that ROM 2.21.405.2 gives me the same device id as I had in WM5, but both AP2.0 and 2.20.405.1 give me a different device id. I don't know if this helps?
Currently I'm using 2.21.405.2 but would love to use AP2.0

Hi there,
First of all a great thanks to all involved, great job!!
I have done a fresh install with all the add ons and experienced the battery drainage issue. I had the battery go empty and completely recharged again (twice or three times) but to no avail...
As many of you thought the battery issue might come from the Kaiser Home I did a fresh install (with battery at 100%) [hard reset] without installing the Kaiser home or the fixed Com Manager.
Everything works fine now, no issues with the battery!!
Only one minor issue is that pRSS Reader does not seem to install in my Today Screen. Anyone else had this?

Hi there,
First of all a great thanks to all involved, great job!!
Cheers, and thanks again for all good efforts!!
I run pRSS and found that the Today plug is buggy and causes instability in any ROM. Just a heads up. If it doesn't activate for you try uninstalling and reinstalling pRSS. This worked for me one time when i had the same issue.

Have just tried to install Safemode demo (but forgot it had expired). Went to soft reset (to activate it) and Ameo hangs on the splashscreen.
It worked previously on WM6. I am going to hard reset but don't intend to test it again! Just thought I'd warn others.
I've flashed 5 times since the release of 2.0 and always run Safemode on my device. I haven't experience any issues. When the device hangs you can sometimes pull out the battery, making sure it's not plugged in to anything, then put the battery back in and power it up. This sometimes fixes this issue you're having.
Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks a lot for your great work.
I've one Athena for 3 months and I had never instaled a cooked ROM.
I've the official WM6 Rom instaled already and the phone is not locked to any phone provider, is free.
Who can, please, tell me what I've to do to instal the new AP Black Touch v.2 ROM?
I know the risks but I want to assume them having in mind the complete and best information to go on with de instalation.
Thank you in advance
If you have an x7500 then you need to use Olipro's unlocker, AT YOUR OWN RISK, to fully unlock your phone. If this works all well, then you will be able to install any ROM you wish from any provider and any version. We put a little teeny tiny outline on the first post with the basic steps. From this outline we're hoping to provide just a basic approach so you guys can become familiar with the forum and find the info. When you get stuck or have questions in regards to what you read, we'll be here to help nudge you along. Happy reading!

You might be better using the search, this does exist, as I saw this on my MDA Pro ages ago...
Might be better starting a thread if you can't find anything rather than in here, as this is just regarding PK's ROM, and is an Athena thread, not a general PPC one...

if its a x7501 (and sometimes even if a 7500), there is a big risk, please wait until the unlocker software is developed further. (there is a way to guess if your device is compatible with the current version or not, though.)

Many thanks for looking into this. Just for info I did some flashing myself and found that ROM 2.21.405.2 gives me the same device id as I had in WM5, but both AP2.0 and 2.20.405.1 give me a different device id. I don't know if this helps?
Currently I'm using 2.21.405.2 but would love to use AP2.0
can you give me a link to this rom 2.21? i have an idea as to why the id is different, but possibly i need your help to check it out (to see something on your device).

The biggest thanks to XDA Developers (I'll be contributing to you soon). Without your site....well need I say more? Thanks a million.
Mackaby007 aka Mark
As the founder of the project you're always going to be the Godfather...aka MackDaddy! LOL
We're holding the seat open for you so when you have time again and life let's you pull away, please take a seat and jump right back in. You've more than gained everyone's respect and admiration with your vision. There were some that didn't think a community could pull together like this and make it happen....well HERE IT IS BABY!!!! OHHHHH YEA!!!!
Thanks for the kind words as well but this was and will always be a team effort. We have all stepped up in time of need to fill in the gaps. Just part of working together with some exceptional people! :-)
Remember, you pulled a few all nighters yourself to make this possible bro!

As PK quoted from me earlier, its a "feature" in wm6 that the power service 'learns' how much charge the battery has in the first run-down, the reason your battery drains quicker is 1) it runs it down on purpose to calibrate itself and 2) as it isnt calibrated the readings are inaccurate.
hope that was some help :)

Dear Mr Gates
Might I just suggest that this feature of WM6 is absolutely, completely and utterly crap! Why on earth would you willingly choose to sacrifice battery life on a mobile device. It's about as sensible as rollerblading naked in the winter. [don't ask me where that came from - it's been a long day:D ]

I don't understand what you are saying here... no-one is saying that anyone would "willingly choose to sacrifice battery life" what the feature is intended to do is to calibrate and ensure that the OS recognises the battery more efficiently... Atleast that's my understanding.... ???

......and you would be correct! It works in much the same way as when you buy a new laptop battery. You have to tell it to recalibrate manually on the laptop, tho! Ours takes the thinking out of it and assures an accurate recal of the battery. (Now,tell the truth! How many of you knew you needed to do that on a laptop?LOL)

Gentlemen,
I hesitate to question folk with detailed technical knowledge (that I don't have) of the Athena, but ....
Since upgrading to 2.0 I too have experienced severe battery drain - my device has run itself almost flat two nights running following the upgrade.
So yesterday morning, after reading the recalibration posts, I let the device run itself completely flat (didn't take long) and fully recharged before further use - it took all day to re-charge (vastly longer than ever before) but still the unit showed significant discharge overnight - a stock 2.0 installation with batti and HTC home plug-in disabled.
If this recalibration is a 'feature' of WM6 then why ...
1. did we not see it when we first upgraded to WM6 (HTC) ?
2. did we not see it when we upgraded to Touch 1.0 ?
Some strong words have been used in connection with the above quote - I don't wish to go down that route, but merely to say I'm not convinced.
To add pain to this topic .... since upgrading to 2.0 I've seen numerous 'hesitations' where the unit did not respond for several seconds and also had 4-5 complete lock-ups where I had to re-set the device !!!
I came home this even with the full intention of re-flashing - after reading several posts of folk who say the recalibration has worked for them I'm tempted to try a hard reset and give 2.0 another shot.
All credit to those dev's who created both 1.0 and 2.0, but the last few days under 2.0 have been a total pain, whereas the preceeding week(s) under 1.0 were a delight.
Sorry, but to my mind, 2.0 is nowhere near as stable / useable as 1.0 !

well heres a little info coming straight from the creators mouth. this rom has not much change from 1.0 I cooked into it realvga and the keyboard and fixed all the bugs we could find. i have no clue why u are experiencing these problems when almost everyone after a few days of use have found now the battery to be like 1.0, the rom to be just as stable, and very little bugs. maybe ur device just has went off the deap end. it happens that after a while your device will just become unstable and it needs a warranty. try flashing back to 1.0 or something else and see if these problems persist. if u want my msn is ceo@wa-va.com if u want some one on one support for ur battery issues. Yes everyone im willing to go as far as giving u one on one support if u have a issue as big as this just to make u happy. :)
EDIT: forgot to mention try a clean install without anything installed and stock dpi. let the battery fully drain and see what happens then.

with regards to t he battery drain, i'm jsut saying what ive been told by teh more knowlegeable devs, so cant actually give any proof either way, but maybe htc have found a way to remove it?

PS with regards to the battey issue, it is worth noting that by default Batti shuts the device down @ 5%, it pops a little message up saying "battery is low device will be shutdown in 30 secs [YES] [ NO]" in my opinion it would be worth disabling this feature of batti and letting your device truly run flat before charging, PS even after you phone has "switched off" try tapping the power button again to turn it back on as mine "especially when using tomtom" tends to turn the screen off when the battery is ultra low but is still on and working"

since no is saying this, i think, then im going to. whether you use the official rom or midget's rom or pk's rom the fact is its going to be different for everyone, for example i had no problem with battery drain or WMP with pk v2 rom. that being said there were some things that i did not personally like about the rom but it seemed stable to me. which is why i say i think that if you r unhappy with pk's rom(this goes for every one) the get the official rom from htc. and customize it anyway you want. all the programs thats in pk's rom are free. I would just like to say that i appreciate all the work that has been done. so for that i say thanks to the dev team.

was the "image file is corrupt" error because the phone was not unlocked?after using olipro's unlocker, will it be ok to run the installer again or should i redownload the package again incase it is corrupted?
Thanks for your help.

Have you let the library in media player update itself in 192dpi?
I think this is what's causing the problems, after several attempts to get the prog working in 128 I let it search and fill the library in 192, and now it works flawlessly in 128dpi.
I tried this, and still got a lock up. As I've only recenbtly had to HR after a previous lockup caused, I think, by mediaplayer I'm relunctant to play further.
However, I have had a thought that maybe someone with more experience could check out/dismiss. Tweaks2k2 includes a VGA force option, by writing a file into the path of an executable. Could the same method be used to force WMP to run in QVGA?

BTW, while there's little chance it would have worked, I tried forcing WMP to VGA anyway to see what would happen. No dice.
I've attached the mui file it writes if anyone here can disaamle it, see how it works and rewrite it.

Well, I've run the 2.0 ROM for a couple more days as requested, my Ameo has now been through 8 complete discharge/charge cycles, including 2 full charges while powered down. My battery issues have not cleared up, I'm losing around 15% charge per hour, while the device is not in use. It is also taking an excessively long time to charge. These problems only arose after installing the 2.0 ROM.
I'm now resigned to having to ditch this ROM, and will be flashing the HTC ROM. Good luck to all those who are not having issues!

hi, i am finding that with this rom i unable to maintain a connection to my n95 via bluetooth dun when i want to get online without sim swapping. The connection is established without problem, however when browsing i find that every few minutes i have to wait whilst it re-dials (*99#) again. This is annoying on its own but also makes streaming from youtube or remote desktop impossible as after a couple of minutes streaming the connection hangs and doesn't attempt to reconnect. This problem was not evident in previous wm6 roms. I wondered if anyone else could try a dialup bt connection to their phone with this rom and see if they have the same problem, or if there are any other bt problems such as with car kits

I have been finding my Athena locked-up every morning, needing a soft reset to get it going. I run Valksoft SpaceReclaimer on soft reset and it always finds 49808 bytes reclaimed after a lockup and it stops one running program in so doing. I have suspected that the Kaiser
10B comm manager VGA to be involved, so I removed it. Since then, no lockup and the mA drain on my battery status is nearly half during idle and consistently lower during routine use. If this is so, we would need to find another VGA compatible comm manager.
Can anyone else validate this?

since no is saying this, i think, then im going to. whether you use the official rom or midget's rom or pk's rom the fact is its going to be different for everyone, for example i had no problem with battery drain or WMP with pk v2 rom. that being said there were some things that i did not personally like about the rom but it seemed stable to me. which is why i say i think that if you r unhappy with pk's rom(this goes for every one) the get the official rom from htc. and customize it anyway you want. all the programs thats in pk's rom are free. I would just like to say that i appreciate all the work that has been done. so for that i say thanks to the dev team.
Thank you.

Hi All,
I've been using this rom for a few days and really enjoying it. I don't have any battery problems but do experience a little sluggishness sometimes,
The main problem is that I can't get the Telephone input panel to work. If I select itfrom the Input Panel list, the standard Windows keyboard is displayed. Any ideas?
1. I've noticed this also. We're testing an update to see if it resolves the issue. Thanks for pointing it out.
2. Telephone input panel to work? Are you referring to the one in Fingertouch or the actual phone? Sorry, haven't had much sleep so this may be a stupid question.

Thanks for this. We're adding it to the bug list and looking at it. So far the bug list is comprised of Windows Media, battery issues, and this. Just to let everyone know that we are looking for fixes. Whether or not the battery issue is a WM6 feature that's broken or corrupt or whatever, we are looking into it nevertheless.

I run that software and haven't had the issues...but will be talking to the core team for further testing. If you guys can find another comm manager that will work, we'll test for compatibility and consider it for burning. Remember, it has to be freeware for the long run.

Pawel062,
well heres a little info coming straight from the creators mouth. this rom has not much change from 1.0 I cooked into it realvga and the keyboard and fixed all the bugs we could find. i have no clue why u are experiencing these problems when almost everyone after a few days of use have found now the battery to be like 1.0, the rom to be just as stable, and very little bugs. maybe ur device just has went off the deap end. it happens that after a while your device will just become unstable and it needs a warranty. try flashing back to 1.0 or something else and see if these problems persist. if u want my msn is ceo@wa-va.com if u want some one on one support for ur battery issues. Yes everyone im willing to go as far as giving u one on one support if u have a issue as big as this just to make u happy. :)
EDIT: forgot to mention try a clean install without anything installed and stock dpi. let the battery fully drain and see what happens then.
Appreciate feedback ....
Last night I performed a hard reset (of 2.0) but first made sure that my unit was at 100% charge.
Overnight and so far today, the unit has barely lost any charge - it's still at 90% with the phone and bluetooth on - haven't had time to do much else today.
It certainly hasn't attempted any sort of discharge / calibration sequence - might that be because it started at 100% charge ?
Battery life therefore now appears to be OK.
I have still noticed a couple 'hestations' but no full lock-ups so far.
I'll start loading up applications and see how we go from there.

Just some more information on the battery issue. After 5 discharges / Recharges, I could not take it anymore. I flashed the Base ROM used for this ROM. I am looking to eliminate the radio and the kaiser plugin. I should have an answer in a couple of days. I am testing Radio and I don't see any battery issues so far. Tomorrow I will install the kaiser plugin to test.

After installing vTap I did a reboot later in the day and it had lost my password - not sure if it was vTap that caused this problem but as far as I can remember (which doesn't say much) it was the only thing I'd installed that day.
As a result I had to do another hard reset.
When I get to work I plug my phone in and obviously did that the day I'd done the hard reset (at 3:30 am!) so the phone hadn't calibrated the battery properly. I now seem to be suffering battery drain, is there anyway I can force a battery calibration?
Also trying to change the options on Batti I get "The file 'batticfg' could not be oppened" - I'm sure someone else has mentioned this but can't find the solution - sorry!
The other problem I have is sometimes the icons at the top on the status bar (battery, 3G, time etc) are blurred out - sometimes just one other times more than one of them and occasionally when this happens my Ameo freezes completely and requires a soft reset - while I am typing this I tried to get into my device to get the Batti error and had to do a soft reset, I entered the password (4 digit simple password) tapped unlock and ... nothing.
Before I was getting 'The password you have typed is incorrect' this time just nothing, it 'blinked when I hit unlock but did nothing, I could still change the password, after another soft reset, the same thing happened. As I was about to panic I tried again and it let me in. Scary eh?
Sorry for rambling, but anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Re Batti problem - I can change the program settings via the programs manu - I was trying by click ing on it then selecting Settings - presumeably a path problem? It also shows temp of 91.9 C which is obviously wrong...

Hi
For those having problems installing Kaiser commmgr, make sure the commmgr process isn't running. You need to do this in Settings>System>Memory>Running Programs, if it is....kill it :D
I have had problems with both V1 and V2 ROM with wm5storage. First I couldn't get it to work at all with HTC Kaiser today plugin, as it seemed to be accessing the Microdrive for some reason (could this be the battery drain?). Once I had sorted this, I find that my laptop detects the Athena as a USB drive, but any sort of serious data copy causes it to disappear from my laptop. I also can't deactivate wm5torage at all, requiring a power cycle.
I didn't have a problem with wm5torage on the Dopod WM6 ROM.
Ta and great work guys

You're quite right guys, PK still has no Athena. The donations seem to have stopped as of late. If you like and are able, you can still donate towards his Athena via the donations link to the Athena Project. I know many of you already have...Thank you for supporting the cause.;)
If the shortfall for his device is not any smaller by Monday coming, some of us on the team will personally top it up to ensure a device can be bought and shipped to PK by mid next week. He has worked on the ROMs like a trooper and truly has earned it twice over in my books. He still hasn't even seen his own ROM running on a Athena. If you think he's done a good job so far with the team....wait 'till he gets one in his hands.
So feel free to donate further if you can and want to. If there is any surplus amount by the time we have enough for his Athena, the funds will go towards the continuing development of the ROM and further development for the Athena. Free of charge to this great community, as usual.;)

Well I have installed the ROM, but none of the add ons other than TCPMP.
I just wanted the Real VGA modes built in, and the extra speed increase and I must say it does seem snappy.
Having the media player problem though.
EDIT : Solved my media player problem . Ran it in 192dpi, went into the media player options and took off the option to start in library (which I never use) and it now runs perfectly within the other VGA modes.

i have done the following, keeping in mind the battery calibration thing that wm6 has:
machine: x7500
1. pk2 rom clean flash, no appz other than just the rom and only time and date on today screen, flashing was done with 100% battery, rebooted, let it stand by with the battery power and sreen options all unchecked, BT on and phone mode on.
battery drained very fast indeed until off, recharged it, took about 9 hours, then power on, and the battery still drains fast. let it go off alone, recharged it to 100%, power on, battery lasts 8-10 hours.
Since the pk1 and pk2 roms are based on the same wm6, the
calibration should be there as well so..
2. flashed pk1 rom with the same options as with flashing pk2, there isnt any drain of battery. phone has 90% after 1 day, 80% day 2, 60% day3 and so on, lasted 1 week total. wathched also 20 min video and spoke 2 hours on phone during this week, also used igo 2006 se for 2 hours.
in my opinion there must be something in pk2 rom other than the other reasons mentioned in the posts before responsible for the consistent drain.
i hope this info will help towards finding a solution for the drain problem
kepp up the amazing pk work, it is by far the best.
i flawlessly use pk 1 for the momment
finally, i will install www.htc-devs.com/uploads/Athena/Athena%20Project%20Battery%20Test.cab on pk 2 rom with the same options as above and will report back

I am pleased my little tip is working for somepeople. I was almost about to go back to an offical ROM cos I use media player a lot for opening files from File Explorer, and everyone was saying it was something to do with the library, so found this option and he presto.
On a technical note, in lamens terms, what is different about this ROM that makes it so fast.

I had a HUGE issue with the password myself. This happened to me with a stock WM6 ROM. Never tracked it down just performed a hard reset cause I needed my device for work but I was locked out completely. I think there was another core team member that had this issue with a stock ROM as well. I no longer use the password. Just weird thing to happen as it never happened under WM5...just WM6.

Anyone else get file not found clicking 'tourch.exe' ?
tom
Yes, that's because it wasn't in the HTC custom package we cooked into the ROM. You can search and download it if you need it. It's just a shortcut to a program that isn't in the ROM. Hope this helps. :-)

Many hours of implementing tweaks, testing and hard work from those directly involved. A good start is to check out registry tweaks if you're interested then look around the forum, even under other devices, to see what everyone is doing. Hope this helps....and fyi, we're implementing more tweaks as we speak. :-)
Once we get this media player and battery issue behind us, we can move on to greater things for this ROM...and maybe a final version in 3.0...until another OS update is released. We'll just have to see.

Guys with the battery problems: could you try installing this and see how things go?

Ok guys, we're VERY close to making this the BEST ROM EVER!!! Keep the bug reports coming in while the core team fixes them. We are soooooo close. :-)
We'll be going back through the thread and try to identify any other bugs previously reported and try to get on top of those right away. We are all trying what time permits. Thank you all for your feedback and patience. School, work, life just doesn't permit the team to dedicate the time we really want to spend on this project. ;-)

I am by no means a programmer but it appears that it disabled power managment????? or the fact that the parameter is '0' means it enabled it?
Sorry if I am talking in circles.

This gave me an idea regarding the comm manager issue I was having as you suggested I made sure the comm manager was not running but then remembered Phone Alarm interacts with the comm manager I disabled PA from the today screen soft reset then was successful in installing the VGA Comm Manager
All is good now.
Thanks

thanx midget. guys please test this cab if u have battery problem or even if u dont and want better battery life. these edits were to be originally in 1.0 but it was decided they are not needed. me and midget remembered about these today and decided to upload and see if this helps. remember guys do not leave bt and ir on for long periods of time as that really drains battery no matter what rom and can be cause os some of these problems.OK, I'm wondering what this was supposed to do. I haven't seen any major changes thus far... Still have a 40% drain within 4 hours.
I installed BatteryStatus, which includes a meter for power draw. I am showing an idle drain of about 280 mA with screen on (with occasional jumps to between 320 mA, probably doing data transfer or whatever), and 170 mA with screen dimmed. When waking, it shows about 120 mA.
Could others provide data? Do these numbers sound high? Are other tools to analyze power draw? Also, noting that my charger only outputs 1A, the net charge is about 500-600mA, no wonder it takes a while to charge!
PS: Does anyone have a theme file for BatteryStatus that will space icons better for

Just installed it on my Ameo, I'm showing the following with BT on:
Idle, screen on lowest - 170mA
Idle, 50% brightness - 290mA
Idle, 100% brightness - 330 mA
Occasional jumps to 400, 500 mA when using HSDPA.
Turning off Bluetooth reduces the draw by around 80mA.
Turning on Wifi adds a draw off around 200mA.
I also get about 110-120 mA on wakeup. Incidentally, my Prophet shows around 5mA on wakeup, 10mA with BT on.

It's a known RealVGA issue and has also been reported to the appropriate thread. We're just waiting on the developer to see if he will fix in the next release or it's something we'll have to deal with. I think it works okay in portrait mode but not in landscape.
Edit: I run 96dpi.

Hi all.
this rom has the making of something really good.
Just a couple of bugs.
Live messenger shows contacts as offline when definitely on.
Media player fix doesn't work and library doesn't update, just freezes
Audio manager works sometimes and not others, freezes needing soft reset
tcpmp doesn't open the file you select and freezes needing soft reset.
frquently lose connection to service provider in an area with tried and tested hsdpa
Still miles better performance wise to the tmob rom and I think some of my troubles are the result of a wonky flash.
I'll reflash later and report back
The bt audio is a vast improvement from on my hermes when audio manager does work.
Keep up the good work peeps. Collaborative efforts like this make xda and it would not be the same without them.
Cheers

Sorry to be a pain guys and gals, but how many are experiencing the problems mentioned in this thread using an Ameo upgraded to this ROM after having applied IMEI check AND Olipro's stage 1 Unlocker only?
This is what I have applied and absolutely don't have any of the problems some of you are having.
I'm starting to wonder if this may be related to being Super CID unlocked as opposed to just CID unlocked via Olipro's unlocker......doubt it very much, but would like to rule it out once and for all.
So, who used IMEI and stage 1 Olipro Unlocker on an Ameo and is suffering from:
Battery drain and regular lock-ups and freezes with no apps installed or fully loaded.
Same applies to all variants too.
Thanks for any responses to this request....we're trying to find out why some have issues and others absolutely none at all!
Weird, right?

My Ameo was unlocked using Olipro's unlocker only, all 3 stages.
My battery life seems to have improved a little since removing the HTC Home plugin, but it's still not good.
I also regularly find it locked up in the morning, with the top right of the screen (clock, 3g symbol, X button app) scrambled, looks like static on a tv. I have to soft reset to recover.
I had NO battery issues with the 1.0 ROM, I'll probably go back to that for now.

Hi
I've used the 2.0 ROM but the battery drain issue became too much to bear. I am back to the most recent stock ROM, but have applied I think most of the registry tweaks etc and I'm quite happy with the ROM's working and speed. That's not to say I wouldn't be interested in 3.0 hehe
One area I certainly like is the VGA of Fingertouch and I want to use this on my current ROM, but the version for download (and purchasing) is not VGA compliant. Do any of the ROM team have a trial VGA version that they can share as I would like to buy a license for it.

No sorry Anton we don't have a trial version and are bound by the teksoftco.com's license agreement NOT to use it outside of the Black Touch ROM. However if you contact teksoftco.com directly by e-mail, they may consider letting you buy the license and sell you a copy, but don't hold your breath...worth a shot. looks like most problems with battery have been solved by the cab. awesome news guys and i see midget has a fix for the wmp issues. looks like 2.0 is now turning out to be a great rom. i cleaned up my laptop and its pretty ok right now so i can get back to replying regularly and contributing more. thanx guys for bearing with me through my laptop troubles and school work holding me up. after more success with the battery cab and wmp cab ill put them together and look at what other things there are to fix and make a fixes cab like in 1.0 or maybe a 2.1. thanx also to all the donations. enjoy the rom guys :)

Ok guys....please confirm that Media Player and battery issues are resolved so we can focus on bigger things. Teamwork like this makes it all worth while. :-)

Both IMEI check and all 3 steps of Olipro's unlocker.
I do not have a freezing problem; have yet to try WMP so cannot comment.
Battery drain is a BIG issue. I have installed Midget's cab (thanks Midget) and the battery meter recommended by him.
I am draining abot 150mA without BT but with direct push (DP) enabled. Not much difference in the drain value with DP enabled or disabled. With with backlight on at minimum setting
BT Off, DP off: 148
BT off DP on: 150
BT on DP on: 190
BT on DP off: 155
with backlight at zero the above values decrease by 35mA
Occasionaly it bursts to 450mA (during sync process I suspect), but overall it's constant around 150.
Should this be the expected value. I read in a previous post that another device was drianing about 10mA on standby.
BTW: installed apps
iLauncher 3.0.5
SPSH clock 0.92
BatteryStatus 1.04
I have removed HTC home plug and the phone is set to GSM only (no 3G or H as these drain more power).
Hope this helps.
Edit: As I have just installed Midget's battery fix, I will not be able to comment on any change in battery life until tomorrow.

All those with WMP issues please try this cab and report back.
www.htc-devs.com/uploads/Athena/Athena%20Project%20Test%20WMP%20Fix.cab
has been tested from hard reset but not on a device with the problem already so please share your experiances.
Just installed this cab and WMP works fine, didn't even need a soft reset.
Have installed battery cab - but obviously need time to know if it's worked.
Thanks guys, you are all doing a great job!
